How Bad Do You Want It?

Declare Spirit of the Living God. Fall fresh upon right now Lord. I asked now God that your power would fall that your voice would be heard that our lives will be transformed, as we stand on your word. You declared Heaven and Earth would pass away, but your word would always stand. Allow me now God to decrease that that might indeed increase. I heard you when you said that I if I be lifted up from the earth that you would draw me in on to you. Give me drawing power now in the name of Jesus, anoint me of fresh from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. Clear My Lord, that you might be glorified. These and other blesses I asked in the name of Jesus. And all the people of God said a man, say, a man again in a man again. One for the father one for the sun and one for the Holy Ghost. There's a word from the lower today. In the Gospel of Luke. Luke the 19th chapter. Luke the 19th chapter.
that the Gospel of Luke is a very interesting writing. We know that Luke is the only Gentile right of the gospel. We understand that Luke was a friend to the Apostle Paul and had a unique relationship on the back side of just observing the life of Jesus and Luke. He asked us three questions he asked us, who can we accept God's church. He answers, who is the Holy Spirit. And he answers to us what is our mission. Understand Luke writes this gospel to a friend called Theophilus. The translation of the word Theophilus means friend of God. How many of us today give you a friend of God. I'm a friend of God, and He knows my name. I take you to the Gospel of Luke in the 19th chapter four our reading, I'm going to read verses one through 10. Luke's Gospel, 19th chapter verse one through 10. And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho, and behold, that was a man named Zacchaeus, which was chief among the publicans. And he was rich, and he sought to see Jesus who he was and he could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him. But he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place and he looked up and he saw him and said to him to Zacchaeus. Make haste and come down for today I must abide at thy house. And he made hasten came down and received him joyfully. And when they saw it. They all murmured saying that he was going to be the guest with a man that is a sinner. Zacchaeus understood and said unto the Lord, behold, Lord, the half of my goodness, I give to the poor. If I have taken anything from any man by false accusation. I restore him for full. And Jesus said unto him, this day is salvation come to that house for as much. He also is the son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost, a man, a man. I want to use for a subject this morning. How bad do you want it. How bad do you want it, Tasha cop has a song that says if you want it, you can have it is yours. She said if you want it, you can have it is yours. She said, if you need it. You can have it. So my question today to you is how bad do you want it. Interesting enough this this character Zacchaeus his name means pure and righteous. And he finds himself not really living up to his name. And he had heard about Jesus and just hearing about Jesus, created a passion within his heart, it created a passion somebody say passion. Have you ever had passion for anything. Huh, have you ever wanted something so bad that you did the wrong thing to get it. Many of us have been in that position before when we were out drinking sometimes we took the last little money we had and bought a drink, knowing that we needed lunch money for tomorrow. Some of us have been in that position we had passion for it so bad. We were in the store and Lord the dress looks so good. So I'm gonna get this dress. I don't care what it takes. I'm getting it, not thinking about the light bill was due, but but that's how we are about some things we, we have a passionate about, even when it was wrong back in the day, they had a song saying if loving is wrong. I don't wanna be right. Passion sometimes is the motivation to get whatever you want some time but sometimes passion can be destructive, but but Zacchaeus have a passion to know Jesus.
How many of us have a passion to know Jesus. How many of us remember the day when we truly sought the Lord, Zacchaeus passion drove him to a place where he had heard Jesus was passing by throughout the book of Luke he deals with people who have heard about Jesus and came looking for healing. Came looking for deliverance, but but Luke decided that this particular individual stood out so he wanted to write about him. He wanted to write about. Zacchaeus, because it seemed like Zacchaeus had a passion to see Jesus and the Word said that he he he came through Jericho Jericho was a city that was built upon a curse. And Jesus has come to the city of Jericho, remove the curse, just like what Jesus come in your life, He's going to remove the curse, the generational curse that many of us, experienced throughout our lives. Many of us are dealing with the generational curses generations upon generations of alcoholics and drug addicts and adulterous and abusers. And we still live that same life. Until we meet Jesus until we come to Jesus with passion, with our desire to know him at all that I might know him in the power of his resurrection. We all should have a passion to know Jesus. So he comes he comes, he comes he comes to the place where Jesus is and and there's so many people that he can see Jesus. He can't get to Jesus, they said he was small and stature. The crowd was too big but he didn't let that get in his way. You know that so many times would we will allow to eat the simplest obstacle to keep us from seeing Jesus. How bad our passion is the first obstacle we run into will stop will stop here what, that's what we say on Monday. Next Sunday. I'm gonna be in church. I'm gonna be in church, you know how we 'I swear on God' I'll be that next Sunday. I got to go I know I need to go to church. I want to be in the presence of the saints of God. I want to feel the power of Jesus. And as soon as sun come up. See what happened was, you know how we all but what happened. I got up and my tie just looked funny. And ain't won't be stranded, you know, That's how to put things in our way to keep us from coming to Jesus, but Zacchaeus have passion. So, when Zacchaeus planned to see Jesus was was turned around, he didn't let his passion, he didn't let the roadblock keep him from seeing Jesus. He ran ahead. He figured out that God has a place for me, and I don't go, and I'm gonna climb up a sycamore tree. And that passion. He wanted to see Jesus so bad. He climbed up in a tree. My grandmother used to tell me all the time when I was little and tell us, young as you always say, you know, boy. Seemed like you'd rather climb a tree and lie than tell the truth. All of us climb trees in our lives for the things that we want. We climb trees all the time. But now Zacchaeus is climbing a tree out of a passion. He wanted to know who Jesus was. How many of you remember they when you got to the place in your life, you wanted to know who Jesus was. So my pastor has a habit of saying ain't talking about what I heard, I'm talking about what I know to a point in each of our lives that Jesus has to become more than just a story to us. We got to have a personal relationship with Jesus so out of his passion. Zacchaeus runs before Jesus. He puts himself in the right place at the right time to see Jesus, I wish I had a witness here today. That no matter what's blocking your way you're gonna have to position yourself to be at the right place at the right time to meet Jesus, you know, he don't come by happy. He don't come by, every once in a while, bernama say he's a very present help in time of trouble. Somebody needs to position themselves to get to know the Lord. So out of his passion, he comes, he comes to that place. And he, and guess what Jesus does he looks up.
And he says to Zacchaeus. Make haste and come down for this day I must abide at your house. How many of you know that Jesus has an appointed time to come to your house. And all you need to be is in the right place at the right time to get your blessing. How many of us don't know that Jesus was not by happen say Jesus knew that Zacchaeus was there. He didn't say he didn't even have to call his name, he just looked up. And there was Zacchaeus, I keep trying to tell you as I call your name sometimes while I minister, as I say things to you I said ain't calling you out. I'm calling you up, because God is trying to speak to your circumstances and God is trying to speak to your situation and god knows what you're going through and god knows what they're saying about you and he knows what you're saying about yourself. So imagine this, the description of Zacchaeus; Luke write this to let us know. He is willing to accept, everybody. And then everybody, and to God's Church, two things is highlighted in the first verse. First, he's a publican. Don't nobody like I don't know about a trust, ha. Everybody has something bad to say about him. Everybody believes he's a thief, you know, they talk more about publicans in the Bible than they talk about it about it as being men that were unjust. Secondly, he says he was rich. Now, this tells us, contrary to what you believe, rich people can go to heaven too see we have got so caught up in thinking it's a bad thing to be rich. It ain't a bad thing to be rich. Jesus just said it was difficult. He just said it was just as hard as a camel to go through the eye of a needle and a lot of people didn't know that the needle that he was talking about was not a needle that you sew with but the entrance to the city. And in order to get into city because the camera is so high. He had to bow down to go up on the me the symbol of the are so what it meant to us was we need to know that sometimes No matter how much God blesses us with, we got to bow down to God, in order to get to know him. So we need to know that he ain't got nothing against your blessing. He got nothing against your blesses. He said I came That You Might Have Life. And that you might have it up more abundantly. But when we lose sight of how God blessed us to bless others. That's when we get in trouble. So here, he's dealing with the prop the problem. In his passion, but he's obedient. When Jesus says to him. Come down. That's what he did. How many of us can say when Jesus speaks to us, we do what Jesus tells us to do. How many of us believe that we have heard the voice of God and God has given us instruction and did exactly what God said he would do. But so often just like this band in the text, we go and want to tell somebody what God said, If God said it to you it was meant for you. It wasn't live for anybody else was the moment to start opening your mouth to anybody else, they go put a seed of doubt. In what you received from the Lord, so So listen, watch, watch Zacchaeus he, he there. He's there. And now he here folk talking about him. Just because he's about to be blessed. Just because God is about to change his circumstances, now they in there talking about now look at Jesus, Why is going over that man house. He is sin. In that issue. But God is about to bless you, there are always going to be people in place to block you to keep you from receiving your blessing to sow that seed of doubt, to bring up your past what you're used to do up what they think about you, but we got to be obedient to God and do exactly what God said, for us to do. So what he does here he does here he he comes. Zacchaeus understood. He understood that the record needed to be set straight. He understood that that that that once he got to see Jesus once he got in the presence of God. He didn't just want Jesus to come by his house. He wanted Jesus to stay.
and he didn't want just a one time experience with the Lord, he, he wanted a lifetime experience with God. So the first things Zacchaeus starts to do is to get his business straight. And that's as he comes to God, and he's starts repenting of anything anybody ever had to say about him. He said, Lord I understand, and Lord half of all my good, I give to the poor if I've taken anything from anybody unjustly. I'll give it to him fourthfold. He says Jesus just don't leave. I need you to stay. How many of you have ever had to plead for the Lord to stay. How many of you ever pleaded for the stay in your life that you didn't want to walk out your life, somebody here today know what I'm talking about. When you make your plead when you're trying to get it right, Tyrese, I'll tell you how to get it right. He said he said I know no one's ever said it would be easy, but girl I want to take the time to thank you, just for putting up with me. I'm sorry that you had to deal with me is what he said. And he said, even though I made you cry. I want to make it right. Just give me some time to make it right said I'll go the extra mile to make you smile. Do whatever it takes, as long as you stay and be interesting if we can come to Jesus that same way. Come to Jesus and lay it out on the line Lord I stretch my hand to thee. No other help I know if God would draw thy self from me where shall I go. If we would plead. If we would plead for Jesus, state, not, not just the feeling that I had last Sunday, but I want to feel your presence, Lord, I want to hear your voice. Well I mean it was walk around talking about all how he walks with me, and all how he talks with me, and he might not even know your name because you ain't never made a confession. You haven't even come to the table of repentance. You see, repentance is good whenever you go to church and receive a word from the Lord, it ought to draw you to the mercy seat. Zacchaeus knew that it was a good. It was a good thing for Jesus to come to his house. It was a good thing. The Jesus to entertain him. How many of us know how good it is when we feel the presence of God. How many of you ever had to come before the Lord with tears in your eyes. Because you felt the grief of what you had calls to God. How many of us ever knew that our actions were disappointing to him. And that we had let him down and, and that ever turned he had blessed us and every time he blessed us we did something to bring curses back in our lives. Every time God, we pray for our children and protected. Every, every blessing he ever gave us, we're sitting in the presence of God, sending out just like we did it all by ourselves. So ever not then we need to understand that the God is looking for us to come to the mercy seat, come to the table of repentance and accept the salvation that is freely given unto us. Now look what happens when when when when when Zacchaeus confess. He has a reception of forgiveness. He has a reception of forgiveness. Jesus said unto him, this day. Salvation come to that house for as much as he also is a son of Abraham, the Son of Man cometh to seek and to save that, which is lost. I like the fact that when I got saved. When the spirit of God entered my life, and I know I knew him, and the free pardon of my sin. Not only did I get saved. But my whole house got saved. How many of you know when you walk in the righteousness of God, everything around you God blesses. And even though it might not look like, I know that the protection of Almighty God because he saved me. And I've given my life to Him, and he is not a man that he shall lie nor the Son of man that he will repent. I'm covered.
I'm covered in the blood, my children's covered, their children are covered. because of Abraham. And I believe
that's a simple word. How bad do you want it? what will you do to get it? Where will you go to achieve it? how bad do you want it? Who will you push aside
and not let get
in your way. So you can see Jesus. And let's not even talk about your reputation. And your past. He's cleaned that up. He's washed that away. He's cast that into the sea of forgetfulness, all you need to concentrate is that I am a child of the Most High God, and no good thing well he would hope. How bad do you want in the world is if you can have it is yours. If you need it. You can have it is yours. He wants to save you. He wants to deliver you. He wants to set you free. Are you willing to run ahead of the crowd. Just so Jesus can see how desperate that you are.
It's me. It's me, standing in the need of prayer. not the preacher, not the teacher, not the deacons. But it's me Lord, standing in the need of prayer, because if you want it bad enough, in this day and time, you're going to have to seek the Lord, while he can be found call on Him while He is near. It's getting late in the evening, sun's going down, you ain't got to be doing wrong for your days to end tomorrow, you ain't got to be unrighteous for death to knock at your door. So the question, leave here with the day ask the Lord how bad do you want it. What are you willing to give up. Zacchaeus a half Oh god. I've taken anything away. Not only will I give a half but I'm gonna make it fourfold. So he wanted to get his business straight. He wanted to get his house in order. And some of us need to get our house in order, and ask yourself, Am I saved? I want to open the door the church right now. There might be somebody here today, who've been hearing from God.
