The professor explains two ways, that's how snails survive through hot and dry summer snail is a creature that have soft body and hardshell. First, they want to stay away from overheat. During the summer, the ground will be really hot. So, instead of staying on the ground, they will go to a cooler praise, such as wall, trees or vegetation. Second, they want to keep themselves from drying out. They will generate a staircase of subsistence by calcium to cover their shell. By doing so, they can stay inside their shell sore for several months. Their metabolism will still slow down, and they don't need to go out and find food. But once started to raining, they will go out.
