Greetings cultivators worldwide. Jordan River here back with more growcast Broadcasting straight from the islands. Today we've got a different type of episode. Our friend and member of growcast membership, crazy lakes is here to talk about his amazing organization, Canna capable. And their mission is to empower those with physical limitations and disabilities to start their own home garden and grow their own medicine. This episode is a little bit different. I know you're going to love it. There's a lot of good story talk. There's a lot of talk about gardening tips and the call to action. What I really want to bring to your guys's mind today is, if you know anyone who's suffering from an ailment or a sickness that you know that cannabis can help, be sure to make an effort to try to turn them on to growing. It's the best thing you can do for people in that position, and especially if you know they already consume cannabis from the dispensary, see if you can't be a caretaker for them or turn them on to growing. I just did an Instagram post about this. I think it's the most impactful thing you can do. There's so much going on in our industry. There's so much to argue about online, from home grow laws to this THCA nonsense and everything that's going on. But Is any of that really helpful or beneficial? Why not just get one person growing, give them their first seed and teach them how to grow? I think that's much more beneficial and impactful. So I hope that you do that. Please let us know if you do contact at growcast podcast.com. Is our email. Growcast is our Instagram handle. Come and shoot us a message. Tell us how you have turned someone else on to growing I'd love to hear that. So anyways, I know you're gonna love today's episode. It's a little bit different. Crazy likes is a great guest. Please enjoy it. But before we jump into it, shout out to AC infinity. That's right. A big special thank you. Shout out to all the Grow cast members. Speaking of which, today we have a guest who is a grow cast member. I'm very excited to do this episode. I've been waiting to do this for a while. We have on the line a personal friend of mine as well as the creator of Canna capable. You may have seen that we've partnered with this organization before. Well, it turns out it was started by a grow cast member, none other than Crazy Legs is on the line right now. What's up? Crazy Legs, how are you doing? Man,

I'm doing really well. Jordan, thank you glad to be here.

Hell yeah, brother, thank you for coming on again. Crazy like started the Canna capable community, which is specifically designed to empower those with physical limits, limitations and disabilities, with the ability to grow their own medicine at home. Crazy Legs, this has always been near and dear to my heart, because you know that at growcast, we're all about getting people growing. I think I've done a pretty good job of that so far in my career, of spreading the message of home grow getting people taking advantage of their home grow laws, getting as many people growing as many plants as possible. But I will tell you, I've always said getting someone growing their first plant is the most impactful thing you can do, but that impact is multiplied by 100 fold when you when the person who you're turning on to growing has an ailment that the cannabis relieves. Do you understand what I'm saying? It's not just somebody who really loves cannabis or uses it for general stress relief or sleep aid that's still life changing, turning them onto growing, but turning somebody onto growing who has a real condition that is interrupting their life, and then the cannabis helps that man. That makes it 1000 times more rewarding is that something that you observe like every day in the Canna capable community,

absolutely, yeah, it's been, uh, pretty amazing to see. How many people and how in depth that this plan actually helps people? There was a lot of people. I didn't even think of the amount of people we'd be reaching with different ailments that, you know, they look for certain profiles for their specific disability or sickness.

Yeah. I mean, that's the idea, right? It's an ever is a never ending hunt for that strain that works for them. That's actually something we're going to get into a little bit into this episode. But let's start from the beginning. Man, can you give a little bit of an introduction from your story and what brought you to growing and then how can a capable became a thing? Yeah,

absolutely. Um, for to start at the beginning. I was born with muscular dystrophy, which, you know, it took doctors a long time to even figure out what was wrong or what to diagnose me with. And then in the mid 90s, I actually came upon cannabis through a friend in high school. We ended up getting some smoke off of his sister and going to his mom's garage, sitting in a brother's car and smoking it so classic. My introduction, you know, was pretty unique. Like the effect immediately, you know, you don't know how to compare it to other people and how it affects them, but it was something I knew kind of right away was something I really enjoyed.

So like, the second that the THC at your brain, the second you got high, there was, like, this sense of relief that didn't compare to any other medication or treatment. Is that fair to say? Oh,

absolutely. You know, the doctors have always tried giving me prescription pills throughout my life to take care of this, that, and I really shied away from those, but cannabis had the effect on my body. That was very surprising. I was very surprised. So I after that, it was kind of the rest is history. You know, I got more involved with the plant on the white market. You know, prohibition times and back then you didn't really know what you were getting, if it was going to be bad or really bad. So

yeah, if it was going to have pesticides, and you're you're trying to get medicine for a condition, and instead, you end up smoking some pesticides that, who knows, could make someone's condition worse?

Well, yeah, we used to call it raid weed because we brought out into the city. It was kind of the only place you could find it. And you go to a not so great neighborhood and get it and come back, and then you're high for five minutes and you have a headache and you don't feel well, but it is the only option. Yes, you know, until you meet the right person, you kind of are limited on those things in prohibition times of lease. That

is true. So when did it go from smoking to growing? It

actually right about 2019 2020, still dealing with the white market and the issues that come with the inconsistency there. And we actually had a an incident where the person that was helping me out ended up getting robbed, and he was all beat up. So fuck. I talked to my better half about it, and I said, you know, this is my money's gone. This was the situation I didn't want to be involved in. So we talked about it, and she was more than open to having me start up a little two by two in the closet. You know, it'd be safe, confined, and by the time that tent got here, it was a two by four didn't fit in the closet, so moved into the workout room and fetched the plants a little too long. Couldn't keep them in the two by four, so we had to move the punching bag and get a four by four, and I was just off and rolling, and

then you needed a five by five. Next thing you know, perpetual cycle, grow going. No, I know how it goes, man. And I imagine I'm going to jump around a little bit here, but I imagine that you probably immediately started noticing things that could be improved from the Grow process perspective, for somebody like yourself with physical limitations, like, can you talk about that, like, what the biggest hurdles are or were for you and other people, and then also maybe how you got creative to overcome them? If you have solutions?

Yeah, absolutely. You know, the biggest thing is just kind of figuring out your style. I had started with, like a controlled release fertilizer that worked well, but it wasn't giving me the final stuff that I was really looking for. So finding the nutrient system was a big thing for me. It took us a while. We went through a couple, you know, we did the nectar thing for a while, but it ended up being too many bottles in pH. So we tried to get away from something with the pH smaller containers. You know, we grow in chromic, so the smaller containers help us. We do five gallons. Now,

that's a good point. You You want to stay in smaller containers, because it's not easy to move around. And bigger containers.

Absolutely, I if they were to get too much bigger, I couldn't really interact with the plant, because when I do go to water, I'll have my girlfriend bring them out, set them around the room. I can, you know, lift them up, see how heavy they are, see how much water they need, and feed correctly, you know, accordingly. And

then you probably had gravitated towards, like, liquid organics. I remember that you got on the rooted leaf recently. Shout out to Nick and rooted leaf code, grow cast always. Are you liking the rooted leaf? Honest review here, no. Uh,

no. Bs, that has been a big changer in my garden. I have never seen a real deficiency ever come up in a plant, and we never run the same cultivar? You know, if there's five plants, there's five different strains going and, you know, some will get a little bit of tip burn, so you can pull it back, or just give them a little extra water instead of the feed, if they're not a real heavy feeder. But not having the pH is a big thing for us, yes, I can measure it out. It's small amounts. It's two mils of this, 10 mils of that per gallon, except for growing it on the heavy feed for the cup with they just grew so fast. It was too fast. That would be my only complaint. Is, if you're doing the heavy feed, be ready to be involved with it. Oh,

man, that's great. But I know what you're saying, right? It's probably just this. It's the same as any other new grower, but kind of amplified, which is you got to find the style that works for you. I could see why you would gravitate towards a controlled release fertilizer. You're thinking, what's, what's the least amount of work that I can do? Right? Like, how can I put this thing on autopilot, basically, but then when the rubber hits the road, like you said, it's not quite working out the way you want. So switch up the style. Try something new. Try a SIP container. Try a rooted leaf fertilizer, where you don't have to pH try, you know, anything different. I say this all the time, like, don't get stuck on the one style of growing thinking it's the only way find what works for you, but I'm glad that you did find the pro mix and brutal leaves. That's exactly how I'm growing right now. Man, it's just a really good, easy style. It's nice. It's nice not to pH, let me tell you, Oh, it's

it's been one of the best things, you know, because I hand water, it's kind of like a workout for me to just interact with the plants, pull the leaves. So being able to just mix the newts in a five gallon, not worry about it, and just get to water and interact with the plants definitely helps out a lot.

That's killer, man. That's killer, uh, you mentioned heavy feed cycle and and growing for the cultivators cup, of course, referring to the 2022, cultivators cup put on by grow. Cast, the Grow cast cult Cup, which you took first place in, my friend, how was that competing in the cup? Did you expect to win, getting the news to win, and tell us about that grow a little bit? Yeah,

that was actually a real wild situation. Because, you know, before the cup, I had never really come out to many events. I was kind of an unknown. You know, honestly, at the cup, nobody even smoked any of my cannabis. I had the jars I didn't know to bring home to everybody smoking comb. So nobody even got to try my stuff out. And I had actually met TK there for the first time. We had been chatting for a while, and he, when I gave it to him. He actually complimented it. So, you know, I was thinking, if I could come at top 10, top 50% of the thing, my fourth harvest, I would be a very happy person. Well, back forward to the actual you announcing the win. And I couldn't it. I was above the clouds. It was mind blowing. It was a total change in trajectory and everything I was doing, wow, you know, yeah, a lot of more people wanted to try my stuff out at the at the other meetups. And it, yeah, it's amazing. It really helped pull me out of the shadows of prohibition times to the more you know that this has been such a bad thing? Yeah, comfort level,

absolutely, dude. That makes me so happy to hear that. And I still remember that event down there in Harrisburg, the original 2022, Colt cup. This year, guys, by the time this drops, it may be sold out, but this year we are in loves Park, Illinois. So if you want to come by April 13, DM me on Instagram or email contact at growcast podcast.com because those tickets are going fast and and there is no other inaugural cult Cup champion. I hope you understand that, like there's only one first time champion, and that was you, man. It's like the old UFC days. You know what? I mean? You you entered a truffle cake, if I'm remembering correctly. Yeah,

I had actually picked up the truffle kick cut from rich at knee can, and it was our first time running it through. And it was a nice, strong cut. And really liked the end product of it, nice, heavy sedative, high, delicious flavor. I know it's still floating. Around the community a lot,

yeah, absolutely. I mean, there were seven judges too that blind scored that obviously Rich was able to pick out who submitted truffle cake. By the way, you were not the only grower to submit that same cut. There were two other growers who also submitted the same cut of truffle cake in that first competition. But, yeah, you absolutely killed it. Man. That was a blind tasting, uh, blind judging that you that you won, and the effect ended up being really high on all the scores. I tell this to people all the time. If you're trying to win a cup, picking strains is a bit of an art form. You want something that's got really good bag appeal, and generally, want something really strong that has a good effect. And the reason that is is because people have differences of opinions over what a good taste profile is that all I've looked at the scores now over two years, and I'll tell you, people just judge different profiles, higher or lower depending on their personal taste. The ones that I see winning are super high bag appeal, and then they've still got good taste. So some people in the judging pool like it, and then they've got a really nice effect that's kind of universally scored high. That's how you get those, those winning combos. But speaking of the truffle cake effect, let's go here next. Why did you like that truffle cake from like a medical perspective, have you narrowed down, like certain profiles or specific terpenes that help you with your muscular dystrophy? I imagine that it's things like pain, reducing inflammation, reducing muscle relaxant qualities. That's what I imagine, uh, someone like you would be hunting. But you tell me what strains work well, what Terp profiles or terpenes work well for you? Yeah,

absolutely. Um, actually, that kind of starts at the cultivator cup when, um, I was sitting in the group and, you know, the smoke was rolling, and it was a very active smoking scene, and the anxiety started kicking in. Out of nowhere, a young man comes up, hands me a pipe, and asked me if I want to smoke some Kentucky Fried gas. I accepted. We took two hits of the pipe. He disappeared into the cloud of smoke, and instantly after smoking that my anxiety was down, my body felt good. I just was able to settle back into the event. That's awesome. Ended up finding out that that was geeky, hunted geeky down, and he kind of was my inspiration for starting Canada capable and hunting these medicinal strain that's amazing. Lot of Afghans have worked for me very well. That's what I kind of started off, specifically hunting, right like Afghans. Because right before I started my own grow I got a bag off the free market just marked Afghani, and I could smoke two hits of it, and it was like a cool rush came over the muscles in my body. Wow. It was amazing. And it just started my hunt for Afghan, I found some stuff similar through webcare. I did his maruf, black, nice, with some nice medicinal effects to it. My clone game was not up to par, so that did not stick around. So I will probably be popping those soon. The LA Kush Farmer John cut, oh, my god, amazing medicinal smoke for me.

Do you still have that? Because that's a that's a cup winner in my eyes, right there. That LA Kush is so special. So that one's got, I could see the similarities of the Afghan profile, but that one's got, like a sour thing going on to me.

Yeah, right, absolutely. That helps the muscles and the pain. Huh? Is Sour Diesel. I found out that once I've been able to kind of get into the sour diesels too, that there are some effects that I really prefer to some other ones.

Wow. So the sour strains have something in them.

Yeah, yeah. It's not as heavy as the cushions in the in the deeper ones, but a lot of people have been showing for intestinal issues. They've been showing interest in heavy citrus. So again, it's kind of working towards what you want to get out of your plant, and the ability to grow your own medicine and pick your own strains, or talk to somebody that has grown through a bunch of strains that maybe has a similar need as you from the plant. If it fast forwards a lot of a lot of cycles under the lights. Yeah, absolutely.

Okay. So here you are. You you join the Grow cast community. You come to a cup. You win the inaugural championship, you meet your essentially business partner in geeky, geeky C art. Shout out another member of grow cast membership, and you start Canna capable, which has a mission to empower those with physical limitations to start growing their own Can you tell me about that mission and like what you're working on now currently?

Yeah, so we really want to just kind of bring light to that struggle. Most of the disabled community is kind of reclusive community, and then you add that to the cannabis community. So you can get some people that you know are pretty reclusive and want to try and get it done by themselves, and sometimes that's not always an option. So with Canna capable, we are just trying to connect any growers with disabilities, anybody caregiving or growing for somebody with a disability that's maybe looking for that strain that the Grow style just we have handy hats too. We do little things for helping you around the grow and just getting people connected like that, because, like I said, it's a pretty reclusive community, and just getting people out there and talking about it seems to help them figure out a lot of stuff and find strains that they would like. Yeah,

that's like I mentioned earlier in the in the show. That's the the goal for a lot of people. But when you have a physical limitation, you know, like such as yourself, or somebody who just has an ailment, whether they're in a wheelchair or, you know, they have digestive issues that, again, interfere with their life. The stakes are so much higher to find those good strains, you know, and you just, like, kind of hear tell from somebody, or do you hear about a breeder who says that it's good for this or that? Or, like you said, you have an experience with, like, a bag of blood that you're given, where you feel that this particular strain helped you, and then you're kind of off and running, rooted leaf nutrients. Code, growcast for 20% off the best nutrients that you can find, no more pH, ing. I know you guys love the episodes with Nick. He's the creator of rooted leaf nutrients. And the reason that I love rooted leaf is because a your plants are going to be lush, green and healthy, fewer deficiencies than any plants I've ever seen before, using this line across a wide variety of cultivars with multiple feeding habits. Then my second favorite thing, no pH in pH is a major issue when it comes to especially getting new growers to grow. And I save so much time just mixing my rooted leaf and then letting it rip. And then three it's friendly in my living soils. Rooted leaf works in any setup. Doesn't matter if you've got worms in a no till bed, the rooted leaf makes those worms go happy and go crazy. They love it. Or if you're running a hydro system, plug in rooted leaf, you're not going to have any problems. It's a super advanced line. There's no line out there like it, no pH in necessary. Your plants are going to be exploding with growth, vigorous health, and that carbon content is one of the major keys to this line, guys, it is heavy on feeding carbon into the root zone. That's why people have such great success with it. Rootedleaf.com code growcast for a massive 20% off your nutrients. Go and try it. I know you're gonna love it, and get it today@rootedleaf.com code growcast Always. Thank you to rooted leaf and stay tuned for more amazing content from the creator of rooted leaf. Who knows what he's doing? Nick Nikolayev, so one more time. Rootedleaf.com corocast, thank you to rooted leaf and enjoy those amazing nutrients. Talk about what you hunted. You can talk about again, like what's worked for you. And I also want to talk about your growing style, how you've, like evolved that over time. So just talk to me about your garden right now and what you're doing.

Yeah, absolutely, um, right now. I have a couple tents full of Canna capable gear. We got, uh, plus Coast means Titans is, uh, Titans Katana, which is a East Coast Sour Diesel. And east coast, Sour Diesel. We've got the Bubba Kush BX from Mr. Toad, another amazing old school breeder. Works a lot with OGS and stuff, but this Bubba Kush bX is it's looking really nice. It's got me really excited for chop. We also, of course, have the boogie bears from rhizo Rich, because you always gotta have rich in there for a guaranteed killer. Oh,

that one looks beautiful, one of the rarest genetics we've ever put out. In fact, I think there were only two packs in existence. One went to you as the cultivators Cup champion, correct? And do you know where the other other pack went? No,

that was actually the peach Pop Tarts. That's what I ended up entering into the second hole. That's

right, that's what that was. But Boogie bears is also super rare, right? You have some, you have some of the rarest rich work on the planet. Rich

has been very generous with me with that, yeah, it's, um, some bears from Sin City cross to the peach quake. So it's got blue power and moonshine in it. If I remember correctly, which are the blue power I really enjoyed when I got some of that.

Yeah, I love that blue power. Work that sin city does. I've been meaning to have that guy on the show. Be cool to have him on as a breeder feature Boogie bears. Dude. That one is gorgeous. The dark purple, the frost laden buds are just huge. What's that Boogie bear smell like? Real quick. Oh, it's

got the peach, nice peach smell, with a little bit of funk in the background, similar to the peach Armageddon, I would say. But it's definitely got a deeper profile. Possibly. I'm excited to get these chopped down to see what other members think.

Yeah, I'm excited, too. Man. Yeah, I get to reap those rewards. I'm spoiled. Shout out to riser rich and some of the rare work that he's done. Man, a lot of people don't know now, you mentioned one other breeder that I'd like to take a moment to talk about here on the show. You turned me on to bless Coast seeds, if I'm not mistaken, right? Didn't you send me a DM like, a year or so ago and say, Hey, you should have on this guy. Tell me about that? Yes, absolutely.

Um, he was another huge inspiration for Canada capable. I was in a discord chat and he was cracking jokes about being in a wheelchair. You're

literally laughing thinking back on it. I think that people can tell you have a good sense of humor just from your name, your your handle, but that's how you guys bonded is, is over wheelchair jokes, over handicap jokes. That's great. He was talking

about being a master of crip, quando i hit him up in the DMS, and I was like, brother, that was great. It's nice to hear that there's somebody else in an actual wheelchair out there. You know, it kind of started putting the pieces together, and then I got to run her stuff. And probably the one of the best trains I've ever had is his splinter. It's a Hindu Kush mixed with his samurai sour. Everybody that's gotten their hands on that smoke, I'll give them a nice variety, and the splinter always sticks out. He actually loved it so much, he got a cut back. And he called it the crazy legs cut because it's, I believe, he calls it a Reaper fino. It gets real dark. When it gets cold, it gets almost a black, really frosty. It's like a bubble cushion on steroids, kind of so that's one that I'm pretty proud of that he made, definitely made, made a slot for my tents with blessed coast. That

samurai sour is so good. I brought it up on the podcast once before. But a lot of people say that's that sour is like one of those things kind of like skunk, where you can't find that original sour and growing up, I never had skunk. So when people talk about the skunk wars, I don't know what any of that stuff is. We never had skunk in Chicago. You're from the Illinois area. Did you ever have skunk weed growing up like roadkill skunk? Actually,

yes, I did. I was at a party, and my buddy showed up with this bag. It was simply labeled skunk 15. So I don't know if it was,

you know, this guy. Did that guy get that? Yeah, what the hell. But

it came through the door before he did. It was the most obnoxious smelling, and it the bag did not last longer than that night. It was the only time I can remember there being a true skunk, like just obnoxiously overpowering skunk smell. Yeah,

a lot of people say it's hard to find that now, and I certainly feel that way about Sour Diesel. I feel that a lot of the Sour Diesel now that someone tells me it's a sour diesel, or it's crossed to a sour diesel, I think it looks great, I think it smells great, but it does not smell the same as the stuff that I remember from 2010 to 2015 Humboldt County, straight up diesel gas station running truck exhaust fumes, sour warhead Sour Diesel gas station, Terps and I just haven't seen that in a really, really long time. Flash forward to the rise of rich breeder class in in Virginia, Richmond and Virginia Beach. A member came out. Was it hemp toad? Who was it? Well, a member came up to me with with blessed Coast work. He said, I've got three strains for you. There was one that was a some cross. Another that was a pre something sour diesel. It was like a pre 18 Sour Diesel or something. And then there was the samurai sour, and they were all really good. And the pre whatever diesel definitely seemed like a classic bud, but the samurai sour, that samurai sour, smelled Exactly, exactly like I remember the Humboldt County one smelling, so I should have him back on some time to chat more. It's cool that you put me in touch with that breeder. And shout out to bless coach for doing that sour work. I have definitely experienced it. I don't know how often you're going to get a fino close to that one, but my God, it was like just how I remembered top notch 10 out of 10, Sour Diesel. So, so shout out to bless coast and thank you crazy lakes for making that introduction.

Oh, absolutely. Titan has put a lot of work into that samurai sour and this Titans Katana I got in here, I think it might hit pretty close to home, to an original Sour Diesel. It's got the look, it's got the nug structure, it's got the snow. So we'll see after a cure. But it, you know, it's an East Coast Sour Diesel, basically to an East Coast Sour Diesel. So really impressed with his work. He puts time and he puts thought into his strings and releases.

Yeah, absolutely, I'm definitely going to have him back on the show. I'll have to reach out see if he'll make a second appearance. I'm sure you connect with him on a lot of different things, and probably got him. Into your Discord server. Do you want to shout out really quickly how people can follow you and also how they can get into that discord, the Canna capable discord?

Yeah, absolutely. Can a capable discord. We have Canna capable community. We have a private server too for members with disabilities. It's kind of a safer place to share daily struggles and you know, things that you might be going through outside of the grove. We also have Instagram, Canna capable and Canna capable.org reach out to us anytime. On both of those, we're mostly active on Discord and Instagram, though. So

that's at Canna underscore capable on Instagram. Give them a follow there, everybody and then shoot you a DM there on Instagram if they want to get into the private server, if they have a disability and they like what you got going on in your community,

absolutely. If you know a girl with a disability, if you provide help for someone with a disability, we will do everything we can to get you getting the best medicine to you were your provider possible.

That's what I love to hear. Man, that's why we love supporting you at grow cast. I'd like to go back to the struggles of dealing with physical limitations or or disorders or or different ailments in the garden, and I imagine that it just depends on the person right. Like I've dealt with severe headaches before, and someone with severe headaches is going to have very different challenges than somebody who's, for instance, in a wheelchair. But what have you kind of found to be the best selling points, the best tips and tricks for people who do have limitations? Is it about, you know, do you recommend blue mat systems so they don't have to do the hand watering? Do you recommend that they get into soil or not because it's so heavy. Like, what do you see as the the best way to get involved in growing? And what would you tell someone who might have some limitations and be interested in starting for the first time? Yeah,

absolutely. Um, it seems like a lot of the Canada capable members that are doing medicinal stuff for themselves. They like the earth boxes with some organic soil in them. You just dump a gallon or two of water down the hole whenever you see the reservoir done, yes, hot food right before bloom. You know, it's very limited interaction. You can let them ride out and just so you get that water in there. You know, good foot. Another guy that does breeding for TANF capable. He is in Earth boxes, and he produces some beautiful looking flower, no hiccups, no deficiencies, and he pretty much just used to build the soil amendment for a top to us. Heck, yeah. It just comes down to, you know, figuring out what your limitations are in the garden. I'm lucky my significant other can help me, you know, some nights we can't get in here, and it just relies on the extra health of the plants to get through those nights. But I have somebody to help me get my plants out, you know, set them up, bring the water down to the room. So I'm lucky in that aspect. But for people that are trying to just get some flour, you know, grab a five gallon bag. Grab a packet of grow dots. I use the Grow dots with my cuts now for veg. And just get a light and get yourself started. You know, see if it's something that you want to follow through on, because, you know, there, there is commitment to it. There are days that are you want to stay in bed, or you're not really feeling it, but they need you. So it also gives you a purpose, mentally, yes, to drive you to do something. Because you know, after you've been in bed, some of our members are in bed 18 hours a day, so they get up for little spurts as long as their body can handle it. So you definitely want to spend those hours doing other things besides just gardening.

That's absolutely true, dude. It's got to be a big commitment, like you said, but also provides some level, like you said, of purpose. It's that mental health aspect has got to be huge for people with severe limitations, right? It's

one of the biggest things that I have found is just being able to get in here, you know, sit around the plants, if I'm not feeding the water, and just to be in here with them, to interact with them. And then the sense of accomplishments you get when you actually run a harvest through, you get everything done. And then you're sitting in that circle, and somebody hits and they're like, Oh, what's this, you know, and you're like, oh, X, Y and Z train. And I grew that. I provided it for myself. I know what's in there, because we know on the dispensary fund, you never really know what you're getting. And if we the more people we can help not rely on that system, the better,

absolutely, man, and it's so unaffordable and it's so toxic, and they think that white market weed is safer than than, inherently, than any other weed. Homegrown is the only weed that I consider to be safe cannabis. And you know, it it kind of it grinds my gears, man, I love to see people supporting you with this, with this brand now and organize. Amazing, because, you know, it goes back to what you said about the first time you tried canvas, right? And how you've had this, this condition that's been such a huge part of your life, you know, in limiting and probably made you feel all sorts of ways, and feels like nothing helps it. And then you try this plant for the first time, and it's like a light switch kicks on. You're like, Oh my God, I've never felt relief quite like that before. And for me, it was the exact same thing with my seizures. I had grand mal seizures. That was my introduction to medical cannabis. The grand mal seizures being the worst type of seizures, right, black out, fall down, convulse so hard I would throw my shoulder out of socket, wake up with a dislocated shoulder, and after you have a seizure, it's like you said earlier, exactly. Man, there's no way to describe how it feels. I don't know that I could. I could describe the feeling in your brain to somebody who hasn't had a seizure. It's like somebody SCRA you're it's like your your your brain was an egg and somebody scrambled it, right? This is your brain on drugs. That's actually what that feels like after a seizure. It feels like somebody poured water on your circuit board. And when you smoke, specifically, take a hit of cannabis and inhale it into your lungs, and it immediately saturates your brain. After having a seizure, it is wild, the calming effect that it has on that feeling and returning you closer to a feeling of normalcy and stasis. It took me a couple of days to recover from bad seizures, and with the cannabis, it was like accelerated, way beyond what I could say, and just reduces that harm. So like I was saying, it grinds my gears when people like you have even more, you know, long term and, you know, limiting disabilities. And this thing was illegal. First of all, they would have put you in jail for providing that medicine with all the lip service that they pay to oh, we need to help people with disabilities. We need to help veterans, right with all that lip service, that empty BS, lip service that they pay to these people, they still would have put you in jail for growing this plant, which is the only thing that makes you feel better, virtually, right? And that's the first thing. Then they finally legalize it. And what do we have? We have white market booth, multi state operators spraying with pesticides that are going to make people's conditions like epilepsy worse, by the way, you got basically re illegalization, where if you, if you have illicit cannabis in the state of Illinois, Oh, this isn't a This isn't in a jar, a dispensary jar, this is illicit cannabis. Now you're a criminal again. Meanwhile, I grow my own MF, er, because I can't even trust your medicine. I guess I'm saying crazy legs is it's hard not to get cynical, and it's hard not to get upset at times when you really think of the state of this sort of thing. And so do you ever struggle with that? And I guess the only antidote is doing what you're doing, which is actually organizing and trying to make a difference, however big or however small, right?

Can you sympathize with that? Yeah, you know, around here, it's really hard when we're sitting there next to one of these dispensaries, and you see a majority of the people going into these dispensaries are older. They're the blue haired crowd. You know, they this would be their only way of accessing it. And I've never been in an Illinois dispensary, so I can't speak to it specifically, but I didn't know that. I can't imagine somebody going in there with a specific ailment being offered just indica sativa, which, in the long run, doesn't really matter for medicinal purposes, and then having a bad experience and being turned away from a possibly life changing plan that could that could do so much more good for people that truly need it and not to be made feel like A criminal, because I actually have a friend that has really bad epilepsy, and, you know, without consistent access to cannabis at an affordable price, it just doesn't work out well for him. And you think about that multiply across the country, across the planet, yes, it's terrible. And if we can give anybody the option to get out of that system and actually have healthy medicine, you know, and just not have these big corporate people that do not care about anything but the bottom line and not the end user.

So true, that's really the big problem, man. And like you said, the worst part. The worst part is when someone goes into the dispensary now and asks the budtender, what do you recommend? Because back in my day, back in my day, crazy likes, I'm already an old ass man, back in my day, bud tenders would give you recommendations of what they'd tried. They'd be like, oh yeah. Like, if you're really looking for something sleepy, like, I've tried all these. That was one of the benefits. The benefits of being a budtender, is you'd give them all the strains so they would know what to recommend to patients. Are you kidding me? Now, specifically with Illinois, I know it's not all like this. I know there are some people doing it right in some parts of the country, but specifically in the Illinois, big brand multi state operator provided. Ones. You know, we all know these, these big chains of dispensaries. You go in there, you ask what they recommend, they will always give you what's on sale, what needs to move because it's going to be expired soon. They never give you what they actually recommend. And so I remember talking about this in membership. I'm like, guys, I am swearing off asking what the bud tender recommends. That used to be my go to move. The past three times they've given me stuff that was so bad. It's like producer Jay said on that grow cast TV, there's no way you recommended this, bro, this is so bad. You were not being honest with me that this is, this is what you'd recommend. So it's a real shame the medical market and and crazy likes. It's like, Where can we make the most difference? Right? I think that it's where we are. I think that it's getting people to grow because if you have home grow laws and you take advantage of them, you break yourself of that cycle, you pull yourself out of that system, right? And you're no longer under the thumb of corporate cannabis. If you're not a lawyer who can help with cannabis expungement, right, or something like big like that. You're someone like me who still wants to make a difference. So I think it's all about this idea of overgrow, and if everybody who wanted to grow did grow, we'd all have enough. And I thank you for helping us on that mission of overgrow crazy lakes, and I'm honored to help you on your mission with Canna capable, because they go right hand in hand.

Yeah, we modeled Canna capable after the Grow cast community. You. Your community is caring. They look out for each other, you know, they're they're not in it for the almighty dollar. And I wanted to make sure that Canada capable is in that same light, you know. Thank you, man, that means a lot. This

is a dope collaboration. I'm really excited for for what the future can bring. Guys. If you want to support Canna capable, again, Canna underscore capable on Instagram, maybe you are a breeder who has way too many seeds and you don't know what to do with them, and you'd like to get them to a community that will enjoy them and hunt through them for medicine. If you have any sort of like sponsorships that would help support Canada capable. If this episode resonated with you, definitely reach out to Crazy Legs. You know, do some collab, pitch in some seeds, like I said, or consider supporting them. That would be absolutely amazing. You did a collaboration with somebody who, God, I would love to get them on this show. I just don't think it's the right fit. We got to get him on grow cast TV or something, but in lather, just really quickly before we wrap this episode. This guy is so is it? Is it a guy?

    Yeah, Manny.

Cool. So he makes soap, essentially, right? But some of the designs are so trippy, dude. My favorite was the Nintendo 64 cartridges. They look exactly like Nintendo 64 Super Smash Bros, but it says, like, super soap or whatever. It's so good dude. How did you meet that guy? And when did you collab with him? So

he's a fellow member with muscular dystrophy like me, which is I'm finding not as rare as I thought, because you just had O Canada on as well. He's another member. Manny does amazing work with his full terpene soaps. They're they're like you said at the last order I got, he sent me, uh, soap that it was Han Solo, like frozen in carbonate. And so he is definitely putting the boundaries of soap. That's another funny story. Is in the soap community, he's not really welcome, like soap conventions and stuff. A lot of people try to give him the business because he's using terpene. So so he and he just actually got removed from Shopify or something because of the terpene soap. So he's out there blazing, and he's putting in his work to make sure that people can get their hands on that.

What's the deal with terpene soap? Why is it so looked down upon in the soap community?

It's got the cannabis connection. You know how that goes? You know, if you're a baker, you're fine, but if you're a baker, baking cannabis, the normal bakery down the block is not going to want to deal with you. Snubbed. Yeah, Yes, true. Yeah. I would never think that the soap world would be so clicky, but here

we are big soap you know. Anyways, that was a really cool collaboration. You did, man, he raffled off some pieces or donated to a prize pool, is what it was. He

been donating since the beginning. Yeah, he'll send me samples to send out to the members when I'm sending them seeds or whatever. He's always hooking us up with his lip balms. Hooked us up with his skateboard wax. It's an all natural skateboard wax I handed out to a couple local skate shop out here. Yeah, he's definitely an amazing member, doing something different with the plant, and he does his breeding. He's got his own breeding projects. There's a lot of sativas and island strains, Jamaican trains. So definitely give Manny a bud lather a look, and if you do place an order, coupon code capable gives you 20% off your order. So

go, bam. That's why we do it. Man Listen, this was a dope episode. I'm glad that I could get you on here and talk about your mission like. I said, it goes right hand in hand with with the Grow cast mission. And we're, we're happy to support you. What are your final parting words here? Anything that you want to say to the listeners out there, anybody who might be considering growing, or what the future is for Canada capable? Whatever you want to share before we wrap it

up? Yeah, you know, just to get your hand in the dirt and start figuring out if it's something that you want to pursue, and if it is, ask the questions, you know, listen to the podcast, but also get out into the community, meeting some of the members I've met socially in real life has been one of the biggest changes for me, because I'm an inclusive person like I said, I'll kind of keep to my own but having people like TK and geeky and all of them back in the warco, it makes it a lot easier, if you have a community behind you, to actually get your goals. That's

amazing, man. I'm really happy to hear that again. Those names you just mentioned, shout out to the Midwest chapter of growcast membership, one of our most robust chapters. You're a big part of that, man, so I want to thank you for those kind words. And yeah, absolutely, that was one of our big goals after pandemic. Well, that's when we really dove head first into live stuff, because we were all so secluded and separated. And this plant, you know, we have to work to make sure that the community stays together and stays focused on this plant and that we don't divide over little stupid stuff. So I said, you know, after COVID, let's do these live meetups, and then we did whole tour classes, and I think it really brought a lot of people together. It's gonna be part of our strategy forever moving forward. And I love to hear stories like, yeah, I met my future project partner at your event, or, you know, I was at the cultivators cup as the inaugural champion, and then next thing you know, Canna capable, uh, springs forth out of that. So, really cool, man. I appreciate you crazy legs. Let me just say thank you for being an awesome member and for doing what you do. And if you need anything from grow cast, you know, you can reach out Absolutely,

man. I appreciate you all the girlies and grow nuts out there. Thank you for all the support you guys show us. We're getting stickers slapped on gas stations in Oklahoma and Texas. So get the word out there and help people get their own medicine.
