We're going to be recognizing inequities in artificial intelligence with Meredith Broussard. I think that this has been an amazing conference so far. The other day, yes, it has absolutely. Your day. I was looking at the schedule and I noticed we had more than a dozen like about 15 sessions around the subject of AI and many others that were talking really more about people and the needs of people, particularly issues and conversations around equity, inclusion and belonging. Right now, it is vital that we continue those conversations around AI, where we are melding the conversation of both murder the persona Broussard is a data journalist and author and associate professor at the Arthur L. Carter journalism Institute of New York University. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence in investigative journalism. And ethical AI, very important issues. Her new book came out this year, more than a glitch confronting race, gender, and ability bias in tech. Now, the book I had the pleasure to read most of on the plane over it really clearly demonstrates the dangers that are posed by over reliance on the algorithms in AI to take care of the most sensitive parts of our lives. It also offers humane recommendations for how we can interact with tech moving forward in this moment. My favorite quote from the book, Meredith writes, race is a social construct, but it's often embedded in computational systems, as if it were scientific fact.
