And in today's episode, we're going to talk about what you can actually do with your private podcast once that launch period has passed. And so I actually got this idea from a client of mine who turned their free opt in that was a private podcast into a shop product. So let's talk about how you can do this in today's episode. Hey, y'all, welcome to the clocking in Podcast, the podcast for podcasters entrepreneurs and professionals making their way in the working world while building their own personal brand in the podcasting industry. So when you put a lot of effort into something like a private podcast, and it becomes a little stale, I guess in your marketing, because you're not actually doing anything with it, your lead time has passed, your launch is over. And you're just kind of sitting on all this content, what do you do with it? Well, you could continue to use it as a free opt in which I totally recommend, it's a great resource. And you can continue to push it on your Instagram on Pinterest on all the places and even work it into your content. But what if you couldn't make money off of that, I want you to consider how you can maximize the value of your private podcast for you and for your brand. So the way to do this is to turn it into a digital product for revenue. Now, the client of mine that did this, she actually prepped her private podcast to be a lead magnet for her business, but also to prepare for the launch of her actual public podcast. And I thought this was such a cool idea. And it has been live for over a year now. And right after this free private podcast launched, and then she had her public podcast launch, she decided to take the private podcast and put $1 value to it. Now, the reason she did this and how it worked for her was she actually she actually shared like, limited time this will be free. Get it before it goes behind a paywall. And she was very transparent with our audience about it. And I thought that was so cool. So it inspired this episode. When you take a product that is a lead magnet and turn it into a paid digital product. There are a few considerations. One is what revenue will you make from this? How will you charge for it? And what price point do you want to actually put on it based on its value? And then how do you reach a new audience and build authority and trust in your audience in order to get them to purchase your product? Well, a lot of this is already built into your business as a whole, especially if you already have a digital products shop. So what I recommend doing is making sure that people know there is a timeframe on Oh, this product is about to become a paid product. And if you're like well I don't really want to do that because I've already launched I've already gotten a lot of my audience in here, blah, blah, blah, that's totally fine. You can actually still just do it and not notify anyone that it's paid now, what I would recommend doing is making sure that you have everything set up to where it is a seamless transition are there Is there anywhere on your website that you need to remove that it's a free private podcast. Because if you have worked it into content in the past that says it's free, you have to go back and update all of that. Make sure that you're not misleading anyone when they go to get this private podcasts and then have to pay a certain dollar amount. I have seen private podcasts be paid products in range anywhere from $9 to $99. And you have to treat it almost like a micro training. Because, you know, a private podcast really isn't enough to completely transform and give everyone the information they need. Maybe it is, maybe it's alongside of course, but I would highly recommend that you consider like, Oh, what is the actual outcome of what I'm offering? And how can I charge based on that? Now, the next step I want you to consider is actually evaluating the content that you've created, through assessing that content? Like, what was it that your audience loved? Make sure you're getting that feedback from your listeners send out a survey to those that actually completed the podcast? And then also consider how you can repurpose or enhance the content now that it's a paid offer? Did you do those bonus sessions, like we talked about in the last episode, where there's a q&a session? After you launch your private podcast, and you record it and put it as a bonus episode? Is there anything that needs to be updated, because when you have a paid offering, you want to consider? Well, I have to update this when things change, make sure that you're considering those things as you're turning it into a digital product. Now next, I want to walk through planning your digital product. First things first, choose the right format. If you already have a product based shop or some way of delivering a product like this, use that I am such a proponent of use what you have, there are definitely tools out there that will make it simpler. But for the most part, I would just use what you have, whether that is through Thrive cart teachable, maybe you're working through Hello audio, they have like a whole back end to help you set things up. Or maybe you're using a tool like Kajabi, where you can actually host a private podcast on their tool. Now the second thing I want to highlight in planning your digital product is how you're structuring the product itself. Are you going to leave it as is where it's audio only are you going to create that workbook like we talked about in the last episode, or are you going to add any bonus components to it. So a membership or a Facebook group or somewhere that a community can be built? Consider all the bonuses you want to add into it, you don't have to add anything it can straight up go from what you had to paid what you have. The last thing is that going back to the pricing structure, you can also consider tiered pricing limited time offers, especially when you first turn it into a paid offer, you can add upsells to it where maybe if they buy that they get a free something else. Anything that you need to consider as you're planning your digital product, because it's going to matter when you go to actually set it up. Now, the technical setup, basically, when you have a paid private podcast, there are a few things to consider. One is that platform we talked about, and how you're actually going to have a checkout process. So you will need to be able to deliver the digital product via email or landing page after they check out. My recommendation is through email and landing page so that as soon as they check out they have access to it with a lot of these private podcast tools, they actually offer a usually a QR code that you can direct them to. And they can download it from there. The other thing is in the more common thing is actually just a private RSS feed that you have to have the RSS feed and the instructions to actually setting it up within your favorite podcast player. So what I would highly recommend is that you include those instructions no matter what on your private podcast, email confirmation and the landing page. And the last thing you want to consider is like is this integrated into my marketing tools? When people buy from me? Are they getting on my email list? Am I nurturing them? Is there anything else I want to upsell to them? Is there a tagging system I want to have where I know like all these people got my free private podcast and all these people got my paid private podcast. Make sure you have all of those setup as well. And the last thing to consider too is are you going to market this when you have a product like this It can sit on your website and just go stagnant. But you can also market it. So ways that I've seen private podcast marketed that are paid is through Pinterest through standard marketing, as well. But then also do you have content that you're constantly pushing out. So like long form content, a standard podcast is a great place to throw an ad in for your private podcasts, specifically your own public podcast. You can also consider blog posts that you're creating, and how this could be the CTA for those so that you're driving traffic to it, just consider all the funnels that you would normally create for a product or an offering and how you can work this into your content now. So that is how I would turn a private podcast lead magnet into a shop product that is paid. If you have any questions about private podcast or you enjoyed this series.
