Hello and welcome to so you got to lifesite degree I'm Frieda and I'm a fourth year biology student at McGill University.
I'm Lisa and I'm a fourth year molecular biology and genetics student at McMaster University.
We've been friends since middle school and are currently figuring out our future careers. We have found this process to be confusing and difficult, partly because a lot of the options are invisible or unheard of.
So we created so you got a life side degree, a podcast about the various options you can pursue after getting an undergrad degree in the life sciences. For each episode, we will be interviewing a different guest about their career path, and then discussing how we feel about it. We will also have occasional discussion episodes Just Between Us centred around science or career related topics.
Just as a heads up our conversations will primarily be centred around Canadian industries and opportunities since that's where we live.
Here's what we're thinking about right now for our own careers. I chose to study the life sciences because I was interested in biology research. I'm currently thinking about a career in medical research within industry, especially cancer research.
I was originally thinking about going into a career in neuroscience research, but due to changes in personal interests and investigating available opportunities, I'm now planning on going into a career in economics.
We're excited to create this series for you. Also, if you have any suggestions for episode ideas, or potential guests, please send us a message at so you got a lifestyle degree@gmail.com
