I don't know about you, but I feel like I cannot create content when I am not inspired. And so today I want to highlight how you as a podcaster can create better, more powerful content by getting inspired by others. Hey, y'all, welcome to the clocking in Podcast, the podcast for podcasters entrepreneurs and professionals making their way in the working world while building their own personal brand in the podcasting industry. I'm your host Haylee Gaffin, owner of Gaffin creative a podcast production company for creative entrepreneurs. If you're a podcaster, or even just dreaming about launching your own podcast someday, this show was built to help you merge your love of conversation, education and business, you can find resources, show notes, and more for the clocking in podcast at Gap and creative.com. Now let's clock in and get to work. So one of the biggest things that holds me back as a podcaster is not having the same type of like excitement and passion for the content I'm creating that I did in the beginning. And this comes a lot with podcasters. Especially if you're doing a lot of solo shows, you feel like, Oh, I've already talked about everything I could possibly talk about. And it's been done before. And so for me, I decided over the summer, and even into the fall when I knew I wanted to get back into podcasting weekly, but just could not come up with the right concepts and the right things. I didn't know what I was selling. And I've talked about this a few times on the last few episodes. But one thing that really, really hit me this year. And the season I guess is I just did not feel the same inspiration when it came to podcasting. When I wanted to create content for my audience for my brand. Nothing felt right anymore. And I realized and Podcast Movement going to a conference where I was around other podcasters. Honestly, it opened my eyes to understanding like, okay, maybe I have tied myself to this bubble. Maybe I have kind of boxed myself in with only creating content around using a podcast for your business. And instead, maybe I should be looking at other podcast niches. So other types of content that's out there. The lifestyle podcasts are out there, because I'm so focused on my client work and podcasts that are related to businesses that I'm not expanding my horizons. So one thing I decided to do here in the last few weeks, is I have been listening to a variety of podcasts that are very outside of my normal podcasts listening habits. And it has been so good for me. Like, I don't even know how to explain the excitement and the passion that I have right now for the content that I'm going to be putting out on the podcast over the next few months, including this episode. Because I feel like we often get so stuck. We're just stuck in the content we're creating. And we're not actually thinking through. Okay, does my audience want this? Is this good enough for them? Are they resonating with it? Am I just creating this because I need to create content. And that's the last thing I want for myself, for my clients, for any podcaster who's out there. Like, I don't want you to feel like you have to put content out. Just because you have a podcast. If you're not feeling inspired by it, I feel like there needs to be a reset timeframe, a reset button, hit it. Start over because you can only serve your audience. If your content is good. And if it's not good, they're not going to listen anymore. And I remember a few weeks ago, I sat down to record podcast content. And when I tell you I recorded three full episodes that I hated. Like i i mean i The second I hit and I was like no not using that. It sucks. It's awful. It's not I'm not inspired. So that's when I decided to go and listen to other podcasts. And what this allowed for me as a podcaster and a Podcast Producer, but we'll focus on the podcast or aspect is I got to look for what I actually enjoy in podcasts. And it's not just like oh, here's a step by step blah blah blah which is what I used to love. I used to love very A tactical tangible podcast episodes that would like Teach me something. And I could go implement, and I still enjoy those like, those are not going away, I'm still going to be doing those. But I think what I've been missing out on is inspiration, conversation connection community. That's what I've been missing within this podcast. And, and I feel like it really that only hit me as I came back from my little summer break. As I started creating content, I started realizing like, Oh, I'm not connecting with my audience, there's nowhere for them to connect with me. There's nowhere for us to communicate and chat. And like, while I'm not interested in building a whole additional Facebook group for my podcast, I do want to start showing up on line more. And so the week this airs, I have decided to start showing up on Instagram more and showing up on the social media platforms that I kind of took a step back from because I want my business to be more than just making money. I want it to be a place where I can connect with people, and I can help people build their podcasts up. And I think that taking a break allowed for me to see that allowed for me to realize what types of content I wanted to create, and what my goal with my content is. And so before we wrap up today, I just want to highlight those things. So the first thing is, what types of content do I want to create? Well, I still want to create those tactical, tangible ones. But I want to create content that empowers my clients. It highlights their voices, it highlights their podcasts. And that's exactly what the next few months is going to be. I'm going to be not only creating solo content, but I'm going to be bringing podcasts clients on and you're going to meet them, you're gonna get to see who they are because I don't talk enough about them. There are some freaking powerful and brilliant minds that I work with. And I do not do a good job of highlighting them enough. Like I'm told that all the time, every single time that I talked to someone who knows the clients that I work with, they're like, why do you not talk about them enough? Like, why do you care? Why do you not talk about them more? Well, I, I didn't really think about it. I've been so focused on like, oh, sharing education that can help you as a podcaster, but not highlight them. And along with that I wanted I want to create content that speaks to podcasters, who like maybe you're not ready to start a podcast, or maybe you are, but you don't know where to start. I want to empower my audience to get that. Originally, when I started this podcast, it was very much like, I want to create a podcast that educates people on how to use podcast for their business. Well, it kind of started differently, it was more of a business related podcast, but then it shifted very much into podcasting only, and which I'm very happy with. But the goal was I want to drive sales to my brand, I want to work with more clients. Well, I'm at a point now where I've, I'm hitting capacity unless I scale more, which takes time. And so I want to make everything a little more accessible. So that's why as I pivoted with my goal of my podcasts, I'm pivoting with some brand decisions as well. And that includes creating more resources in my shop, which there's nothing new right now. But it's in the process of being created. I want to create more low ticket offers that podcasters can explore if they're just starting out, explore if they want to optimize an already great workflow. Things like that. And then not only that, but might check society I know I've mentioned it here before we are relaunching my Czech society in the coming weeks with a much lower ticket price and I'm I'm really thrilled to offer that and
honestly create a community where if podcasters who listen to this show want to go into my tech society and explore it and connect with us and connect with other like minded podcasters that is the place to go. So while at the time of recording and the time that this airs, mike check society is closed for enrollment there is a waitlist so you can find that at Gaffin creative.com Ford slash MC S, which is my check society or my check society.com And if you're listening to this, after we've opened enrollment, same page mean, go there and find it. And now the next thing I wanted to highlight was how I'm going to be sharing content for my clients. And you'll start to see this in the coming weeks, I'm going to be airing some of their podcasts episodes on the podcast, I'm going to be interviewing them to have them come on and talk about how their podcast has impacted their business, and what they're doing with their business and just showing off like who they are, because I, I have not done a good job. Obviously, I'm talking in circles now. But I really wanted that. And then the third thing I'm doing with this podcast is making it much more conversational, much more allowing for that connection, and you all seeing a little behind the scenes of my business, but also like seeing me as a person and a human and knowing like, I don't know if I want to create more relatable content. So if you're listening to this on the day airs, come join me over on Instagram, and come see what a day in the life looks like for me. And let's just have a conversation, I would love to get to know you and hear a little bit more about you and your podcast if you have one or if you're wanting to launch one. And now, if you are someone who's like, I am still looking for that inspiration, where can I find it? I have a few ideas for you. So the first thing is, if you're looking for inspiration for like what you can change up in your podcast, go outside of your industry, go to other categories of podcasts, ask your friends what they're listening to. Because I've learned a lot about, like I said, what I enjoy, what do you enjoy? Because there are if you started your podcasts, six plus months ago, things have changed, they've changed, like, the way that we consume content is changing every day. Like that's not just a I feel like that's said so often. But it is it's an everyday change. And if you're not keeping up with it, you could be left behind, like your audience may be listening to other podcasts. And that's, that's fine. But you want them to continue to want to listen to yours, too. So I highly recommend you listening to other podcasts. But I also recommend like checking out the types of content that your audience actually enjoys. So what do they want to hear? What do they want to hear from you? And don't just ask them like, I feel like I do a really rough job of saying, What do you want to hear from me? Let me know. And no one's gonna respond to that. So I have started planning out polls, planning out ideas that people can vote on for what they're looking to hear. But also I am looking at every single client I have listening to their struggles when something comes up, and they want like, oh, I want to start monetizing. I have started doing the research for that to bring it to the podcast. And if you are creating a podcast for your business, do the same thing. Or if you're a Lifestyle podcast, and you're like, Okay, I want to learn how to monetize this podcast in some way. That is not me selling a brand, or whatever. Ask your audience like what are they interested in? And who do they want to sponsor your podcasts? Like one of the first things I did when I started exploring monetizing for my clients, as I asked them, Who do you want to partner with? Who are the brands you want to speak to? And I reached out to every single one of them. Does that mean? They responded? No, not yet. But that does not mean that I won't stop. So I I hope today brings you a little bit of inspiration into exploring new things and exploring new types of content, new podcasts, stepping outside of your comfort zone. I think that's the biggest thing is just like we get so caught up in our routines and how we do things and I'm so guilty of this and I'm trying to step out of that and get away from it because I'm a very detail oriented type A like I when I follow a process and a routine I have to stick to it. If something is late or something is off, it throws off everything and I don't do my best work and I don't do my best. You know, it's just not the best. And I'm trying to pivot myself away from that so that I can be more are flexible and I can be more, I guess adaptable to change, which same thing is flexible, but adaptable to change in that I am growing as a podcaster, not just as a Podcast Producer, because I feel like on the back end, I'm crushing it. Like, I feel like I'm in it day after day after day. But as a podcast host, I'm not. I'm like, I've stepped so far back, I'm so far out of it, that I have to do the work again. And if that's you, this is this is your sign of, you've got this, you can hit that reset button that I talked about in the beginning, you can go explore other podcasts and explore whatever it is that you need to find that inspiration. And maybe that's outside of podcasting, maybe that's in TV shows, maybe that's in movies, maybe it's in books, maybe it's outside, like, if you need to find inspiration, what lights you up, and go for it, but go find it. I hope that you were inspired by this episode. That was the whole point. But I would absolutely love to get your feedback on upcoming episodes as they air don't worry about doing anything today, I just want you to know that I'm thinking about you as my listener in every single piece of content that is released from this day forward. And if you are loving it, if you're hating it, feel free to DM me, let's connect I I'm just really excited for the upcoming season and what this looks like for both clocking in and Gaffin creative and myself and Mike check society and, and everything that you know pours into the podcast community. But also I'm most excited for my clients and what these changes will offer them and do for them. And not only that, but how it's going to impact you as a listener. So I know I feel like I get a little not deep here. But sentimental, I guess is the right word. And I am really, I'm just really excited. And yeah. So until next week, because we're coming back to you with weekly episodes. I'll see you in a solo episode next week. And we'll see what's to come for these interviews and you know, re airing of client content. Awesome. I'll see you all later.
