Here at lovestruck daily, we love many things, especially pop culture. And Alicia is our resident expert on reality television, which is an expertise I particularly enjoy. Today we are combining two of our deepest loves weddings and pasta. I'm Sarah Wendell. I'm Alisha Rai. Welcome to lovestruck daily where we bring love to your ears every single day.
I'm in love with that I'm in love with you. Sarah, I have. I have I have very big news. I'm so excited to
talk to you about this. I need to hear everything. Tell me all the details. Okay, I
texted you about this. So you already know. But I'm going to I didn't give you the whole story because I wanted it to be. I wanted this to be breaking news on the podcast. Now notice
that I didn't ask because I knew you would tell me and I want to hear everything. I'm so excited edge of my seat. I am on it. So Kai
and I were at the Grove, which is this outdoor mall, like Ellie has very weird outdoor malls where it feels like you're in Disneyworld. Like it's got fountains that play music and like it's always like cheerful music. It's very weird place very bizarre. And there's like a tram that runs through that you can, you know, get on and ride around. But we were hanging out there because there was this big for your consideration push with all these networks giving away free stuff. So I was like, let's go to the fancy mall and get free stuff. And so we were sitting there eating our free kettle corn that we got from ASOS or whatever we got it from and we're sitting in front of Barnes and Noble and all of a sudden Kai leans over and goes Love is blind. And I was like what? Like, are you just trying to like introduce topics or conversations like Love is Blind Love is blind?
Is this marketing? What are you doing?
I was like, I just like over there. Love is blind. And I was like I turned around in my seat. And walking right past us is deep D and Kyle from Love is blind. Season two, which we have discussed a lot. And they're walking by and I thought if we were both like what the heck and people like all around them were doing double takes like it was like seeing actual celebrities and not reality stars like it was bananas. Oh
my god, that was so weird for them. And for you. At first I
was like is that Kyle because he was wearing like big sunglasses. And but then, like I looked at his hair is the exact like his hair does not change. It does not budge. It's like shellacked. So I was like oh, that's Kyle for sure. And that is definitely Deepti like she's very recognisable, to me at least and she just had like a Aloe bag. Like she was just getting her clothes and it was like I mean I hope she's getting paid well because that's expensive stuff. And they're just walking along this like Main Street in the grove. And it was very cool. And there have been rumours that they're together so I wonder I'm guessing that either they're extremely good friends who travel to LA and go shopping together or or maybe they are boyfriend and girlfriend now so I'm good for them if they are they look very happy and they look very healthy and she looked beautiful like she's stunning they did her really wrong with the makeup on that show because she her skin is like glowing in real life like she's beautiful beautiful beautiful so I never
liked her makeup it always looked like she was wearing paste it was not good.
Oh yeah it was she had a bad makeup artists or makeup looked really good at the reunion so I'm guessing they were just putting the wrong like undertone on her if they if they had makeup artists, but they fix it and in any way she's gorgeous with or without makeup or whatever. She's just really pretty lady. But it was really cool. I was like, Oh my God. That's them. And I of course I didn't take any pictures or video because I think that's weird. Yeah,
you don't want to like see somebody and just hold your phone. I've had them
also they're like a weird, like sub genre of celebrity where they're still just real people. Like they're not actors or singers where you can go up and be like, oh my god can't take it. Like it's weird to me to do that with a reality. Sorry.
But it was really thrilling. I
was like, Oh my gosh, like celebrity sighting. I always say I've never I never see celebrities in LA. But then Kai goes well, it's because you don't notice them. It's true. I don't I have never been able to on my own spot a celebrity every celebrity i Oh, that's not true. I spotted one and it was Andy Dick at a bar. That was Thank you. Well, I was like, oh my god is that Andy Dick? And I was like yep, that's Andy Dick. And he's like real like he's cool as a cucumber. He's just like, oh, look over there. It's Jason Segel oh look over there. It's like love his vibe. Like it's very like, cool about it. But meanwhile, like wow, that's very exciting, and I hope they're together and I hope they're happy. If they're low, I
hope they're very happy. They seemed happy, and I hope it's easier for them to hang out. And now that the show is done,
I hope so it must be weird to be like a normal person who goes on just like a random show and then gets recognised forever everywhere. Like that's weird.
Well, speaking of texts, I also texted you last night. Yes, a link to a post. And I don't know if the listeners have seen this. So I'm going to attempt to describe this. I'm going to attempt to describe this this has been covered in many different places you might have seen this, but we are talking about the wedding of Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian. And as I've said, I only know how to identify two out of 910 Kardashians I don't know how many there are, I can only identified one of them got married to Travis Barker, who I can't identify. I have a little bit of a soft spot for Travis Barker. But Kylie who is another Kardashian, I believe took a picture on Instagram at the wedding. Yeah, of some people serving and I'm using scare quotes the pasta course
yeah.
Okay, so judging by the knife and the the spatula, and the apron and the hands in the back of this picture, I'm going to say that we are looking at larger than a salad plate smaller than a dinner plate. Very nice flatware. Wherever, whoever catered this has gorgeous gorgeous plate. Very lovely, really gorgeous, gorgeous, those plates and it's got this beautiful colours and a sort of a mosaic round pattern and then a square and then a circle in the middle and I am going to say that that circle is three inches. So three inch diameter shop look at you inside. I do a lot of quilting, I'm learning to identify a quarter and a half an inch. So I'm guessing that that's maybe a three inch square in the middle of the motif and inside the three inch square so we are talking about smaller than three inches is a tiny little bundle of pasta.
It's like a mouthful, maybe maybe a mouthful and
not even amount. Yeah, no, I love weddings. I love food. I love pasta. I don't love anything about this picture. I this is not enough pasta. I don't understand unless this is some sort of like one of 14 different kinds of pasta that were certains past I don't understand. How is that a pasta? mouthful? Is that how
Kardashians I mean, first of all, yes, probably but also, I'm willing to give. So one thing I find really interesting about Kardashians is that they love controlled like inconsequential scandals that's what they
Oh absolutely everything like but like nonsense. Everything is created Naira nonsensical
scandals like this where like people are talking about their pasta dish is like they're like Kris Jenner was no doubt saw the size of that pasta and said to Kylie go put that on your stories right now. Because I do not doubt that there's anything that that family does that Kris Jenner has not got her fingers in. So what is
it that the internet says the devil works hard and Kris Jenner works harder and Chris works
harder. Yeah. And so I am convinced that this was all manufactured by them to get a reaction. But also I do I do wonder if that was like one of like a sampler of pasta like the start of it. And they just didn't show the end because this would make more people talk. So I don't know. It just doesn't make sense Sarah, but that's the pasta. They're in Italy.
They're there and and I understand that at this wedding, there was also um, these are two words I've never heard together but I approve of these words together. There was a cannoli,
but yeah, that sounds amazing. I would like to have a cannoli bar and love a cannoli bar
and and I would take the pasta and the cannoli but I would go back to that pasta station but listen, I need like five more servings of this size on this planet like five six more just give me some twirls. Thank you bye. And I have no shame when I make pasta. I make them I make a mouthful on the spoon like three times. And I just unhinge my jaw and I I just I love pasta.
It is like if you love pasta, this is a tragedy. I understand this is a very sad but it looks delicious. The spaghetti looks delicious. It looks fabulous.
I am certain that these caterers are fantastic. But I also think that this might be a bit of a disaster from something that you pointed out.
It's time to take a brief break to hear from our lovely sponsors and we will be right back
much of this wedding seems to have been sponsored by Dolce and Gabbana and if you look at the picture, look at the words on his apron about have the name of the caterer. Yeah, it says Dolce Gabbana on his apron. So even that is tight so it's why am I thinking this much about this Alicia what's wrong with me? No, no, this is very
interesting. So the economics of Kardashian weddings are very interesting. And so keep in mind this is the third wedding now that Courtney and Travis have had so they had like, a just for fun fake out wedding in Vegas with an Elvis impersonator. They had a very league like just to make it legal beach wedding in Santa Barbara with their local family and stuff like that. And now this is their third wedding. They're wearing Dolce and Gabbana in everything the entire Kardashian crew is wearing Dolce and Gabbana. I really actually I love I love Courtney Kardashians wedding dress. It's got very much like rich widow vibes like she's like about to kill really? Yeah.
Oh, I'm so pleased you like it because I felt bad for not liking it. So thank you. That makes me feel bad.
Really? I I really like it. I mean, it looks like it looks like lingerie. It looks like you know what it reminds me of like Pamela Anderson, like it's got very like 90s Pamela Anderson vibes? Like just like corsets style thing, but it's like, it's very. I don't think it's her. I think it's I think it's very much something that she was put in to advertise Dolce and Gabbana and get people talking about whether or not they like the dress. I think it's like a controversial dress. And the interesting thing to me about it being Dolce and Gabbana is that the brand's co founder once referred to the Kardashians as quote, the most cheap people in the world in an Instagram comment. So what Oh, my Oh, weird circle around that says, you know, like, brands will do anything for money, right? Like They'll swallow their pride.
To be fair, Dolce Gabbana has had a very chequered past in terms of their racism isn't average. Exactly. So it's not as if it's not as if they have a whole lot of solid ground upon which to throw stones, or I just mixed like nine metaphors there. But you know, yeah,
so like, I don't, I don't doubt for a minute that they sponsored this whole thing in order to get them on their clothes. And there is according to launch metrics, which collects data on brand performance, the wedding weekend has already earned 25 point 4 million in media impact value for adults a $25.4 million in media impact value. That sounds like Dogecoin for fast. Yeah,
but I mean, think about the instant you can go to the bank and say I'd like to withdraw my immediate impact. I
mean, Chris alone, like Chris has 47 point 9 million followers. You know, like that's true. You
make a good point. Yeah,
I mean, she was wearing leopard chiffon, which is presumably available through the Dolce Pachi she was wearing Dolce makeup. She was lounging on the leopard spotted cushions that are part of Dolce home. And she posted this was all underwritten like it is wild. And this is not new. Like this is like there's been a long history of spawn calm, like sponsored content when it comes to influencer weddings. I just think it was so in your face on this particular wedding. Even more so than then Kim and Kanye is wedding. Kim's marriage to Kanye in 2014. began with a Valentino Garavani hosted brunch to which Kim wore Valentino.
It was Yeah. And then everything is sponsored then
her ceremony in Italy what she were she Vashi. So you know, all of this, all of this, all of this? All of this is just more ad revenue.
So what kind of spawn con Are you going for your wedding?
If anybody would like to sponsor my wedding? I will wear whatever you want me to wear? I think that's the thing. Like if I had the opportunity I do too. I do too. I mean, I think it's a little maybe it's a little wild, that they do it when they have so many oodles of millions to buy whatever they want and do whatever they want. But if they want to keep growing their empire, whatever, like that's just how the world works. Yeah, sometimes the question you need to answer is will the check click? Yeah, well, the check clear. I mean, I just it's just such a It's so wild.
I am largely ambivalent towards the Kardashians in general. I have i Okay, my here's my micro commentary on what little I know of Kardashians. I think they and many other celebrities have a lot to answer for, for the misguided messaging they send around health that if you work out and eat for three quarters of an almond, you look like oh, yeah, that is that is not true. You look like that with surgical intervention.
Right? Yeah, it's not a diet Don't lie to me
is the thing that I don't like, it's not a tea. There's no such thing as tummy tea. Don't do that to your intestines. Your intestines deserve better. Here's why I have a little soft spot for Travis Barker. So Travis Barker, several years ago, this was in 2008. So many years ago, he was in a terrible terrible plane crash In South Carolina, he and one other person survived. And two pilots and two people who were on the plane died in a plane crash was very, very bad and he was deeply burned. He had surgeries he was in critical condition. And he was left with PTSD and a deep fear of flying which is kind of difficult to reconcile if your job is to literally fly around the world and play music a bit of a problem. Yeah. And he had to go through a lot of rehabilitation and deal with a lot of PTSD and has talked about it a lot but at one point when he was in his relationship with Courtney at one point he is alleged to have said, okay, for you, I will fly let's go and he would travel to travel by plane with her which for him was a really big deal and I thought you know what, Travis Barker I hope you're very very happy and I also hope that if this was your wedding, Mr. Barker, you got lots of pasta laws and law
yeah, I hope you got like a full plate.
So for today's love to go I'm going to go with always serve extra pasta. More pasta is the way to universal happiness. Yeah. Here's the Have you registered for like dishware or anything when we registered for pasta bowls. Honest to god I could put one of my dogs and these pasta bowls they are massive. They are my kind of pasta sir. No, we
didn't register for any kind of cutlery or dishware or any China or anything like that. Because you got all that and got all of that and also like I feel like everybody I know who registered for China never uses their China and never pulls it out. So it's like, I don't want to make people buy that for me. We registered for like I registered for an espresso machine. I hope a few friends go into caffeine and like I think
Italian Cafe is main
thing was like he was like I would love it if someone got us a Vitamix. Like that would be cool. So we we registered to pay a cool Gary practical gifts, the things that we actually need because we don't need more plates.
