So I guess it's a bit of a course. But we like, and how have you adapted to COVID-19 this
year? Like the nature of forests of coral performance is something that's really difficult to do online. And I think we were fortunate last year, is that right when we were pretty much wrapping up our season. So we did unfortunately have to cancel the second one of our performances. And so then we had a couple of months to kind of figure out what we were eating for this year. So we ended up in a fully online format, we ended up doing more like local techniques, and working on. Yeah, there's another one I forget. Recording kind of asynchronously for our performance, and putting those recordings together later. So it's definitely been a challenge, but it's something that we've been able to kind of work out. So that was really exciting to try something new. And see what that was.
Amazing. And how have you been? I guess I'm from the perspective of a member of what was it like to be part of zoom calls? And, and like, I'm also interested to to learn more about look at potential videos that you might have to gather on different asynchronous?
Yeah, I think it was interesting. Because you know, what the nature usually, in our in person, before we get started, they're like chatting and getting to talk to each other. And so, you know, it's one conversation at a time. But I also got people from a different voice section, not just the people I was sitting next to in rehearsal. So that was something was really interesting. They felt like I got to me, you know, different parts of the floor that I hadn't necessarily spoken before. And it was heard with noise in the background. It was also interesting to have people from all over like, not all the seats in Toronto, because the online people based in Vancouver, or in China, or other places, so it was really interesting.
I'm actually curious to learn more, I'm less experienced with the course. But I think there's different sections like there was also Medusa soprano. So yeah, like what is joining in the joining the chorus sub sections?
Yeah, so we're a non audition soprano, alto, tenor bass choir. So does anyone, basically, the only requirement is that you love to anyone, and if people want to join, they can get in touch with the email, email. And we're pretty much wrapping up here, but we will definitely be hearing back out.
Amazing. And would you have any like, examples, you'd be willing to share up like some songs you might have worked on throughout the year?
Yes. So if you go to our Instagram page, we have a couple of videos up there like an igtv. So that's it for us. And then we also have a YouTube
there, and when up all starts up, but what buildings do I normally use?
We're normally in the music room and gold ring up on the second floor, Tuesdays at
Do you do like live performances or is it like now I'm kind of curious, like do you like do practices is there like formats or it's more of a weekly
so we usually have a contract concert in the fall and then two in the spring for the fall. One is more traditional choral music, and then the spring we have two so one is musical theater. Usually and then a second one we do in collaboration with the School of Theology fire at an annual sacred music.
Amazing. Yeah. And so for the adaptations to the purposes this year, did you do live streaming? Why? Because of the asynchronous nature, where you will end up publishing the shows?
Yeah, so we were, unfortunately, just because the increased workload is like putting together all these recordings, we were only able to have one formalized event. And that was last week. So for that, it wasn't a contract. Specifically, it was like a gathering to listen together with the chorus members, community recordings that we need,
both over the course of the
recording chaotically and
then also amazing. And would you like anything? Or would you like to share anything else for potentially interested readers might be considering joining the course.
Check out our Instagram page. And if you have any questions, they can email, email. And we really look forward to new members. We love meeting new members. Anyone who loves to sing very much welcome to join.
Excellent. Thank you so much. This was a really interesting as a pretty unique perspective to the end of the article. So I really appreciate that. A great day and a great next year as well.
