Is it recording. Yep. Okay, perfect. All right, Dom, I'm back with you. No worries. So you obviously had a pretty good day in the 2*. So tell me, so you had two horses go, and so let's talk a little bit about the winner. How did it go for you?
It was great, thanks, yeah. Quadrocana is a class horse and I'll be honest, I had a lot of just niggly little bad luck last year. I felt like there was always just one itty bitty piece of the puzzle that always kind of went awry which prevented her from getting some really big results. So I'm really happy that she finally pulled through and got the win. I feel like she's deserved it for a while now.
Yeah. And so how long have you had the ride with her?
I've had her since she was four, so coming on six years.
Oh, wow. So you're really really formed a partnership with her?
Yeah, yeah, she's a lovely horse and I've done all the events with her so I know her pretty well.
Yeah, well, that's awesome. Um, so what what is next on her radar?
So I would really like to contest the three-star long at Bromont. And I feel like that's kind of my spring plan. She's pretty experienced at the three-star level now. She's probably done four or five three-star shorts. I just, I hadn't really got a lot of gallops in so that's why I had her in the two-star here. So I think I'm going to take to Fair Hill and then possibly Stable View and then, you know, figure out a show between that and Bromont, but that's the plan, I'd like to take her to Bromont.
Very cool. And what did you think of the course? How did it suit her out there today?
I thought it was excellent. I mean, the footing was absolutely first class. This is the kind of place where they, you know, they put all that money and effort putting seeding it with the winter rye which really helps to hold the sand together and that's really important. And then the little bit of rain overnight, I just think it took it another level better. There are a couple little spots in some of the cut throughs where it gets a little mucky, but, you know, they know that and so there's always a way you can kind of get through there without being too crazy. But I thought the course was very fair, had a lot of ditches on it, which was good for my greener one because she's a little ditchy. Yeah, it's been a class event, honestly, really great. I thought that the quality of judging was excellent. You know, we had Peter Gray who's just come back from judging at the World Championships, we had him in the two star, that's pretty good. And yeah, and then you know, Mark Donovan builds always a challenging show jumping and then I just thought the course was right where it should be given the time of year.
yeah, well, perfect one where we're all glad that you came up for it and have a safe drive home.
