Today is the second home game of the season for the Knights in the Knights Invitational and they are hosting the West Valley Vikings. With me as always, is Vince outlaw doing color commentary for us today, Vince, what do you see as the biggest challenge today for the Knights? Well,
thanks, Joe. Really appreciate it. Great to be back here with you in the Harry West gym for the Knights Invitational day to day one, what a great day with the Knights beating Chabot in the second game, and then I think one of the biggest challenges for the Knights today is going to be the momentum that West Valley and the Vikings have after their win yesterday. They came in yesterday as the number three team in California and played Fullerton, the number one team in the state of California and they beat Fullerton. I'm not sure you would call that an upset. But it was a rematch of their elite eight match last year. And they handled Fullerton well. Down the stretch. I think that type of momentum will be very interesting for the knights to try to take hold up. And then also the big man who seemed to be extremely dominant. Yesterday for the Vikings is Chuck here OTA knee Woo. He's a freshman senator from Cairo, Egypt. 610. And he had 19 points double double yesterday. 19 points 11 rebounds was definitely dominating out on the floor. Be interesting to see what the Knights do to try and and counter him.
Absolutely. I remember we watched the their game. The second half of it yesterday between Fullerton and West Valley and the strategy very much so was give it to the big man and let him work and he was doing work as you said. 19 points. 11 rebounds, seeming unstoppable. Who on? Who are you going to think that Charlotte is going to lean on to try to slow that down and they're going to need a double team or maybe a group to take take that? Yeah, well,
I would imagine I would imagine that they're going to try and do a little bit of double teaming didn't get that chance to talk to Charles before the game coach Mitch garlands, but they're going to need to do something different. And it seems like we didn't see a lot of double teaming yesterday because they didn't really need it against Chabot. But I think they're going to really need to do something and try to pinch him down low and keep him from establishing position in some way down in the down in the paint. So that'll be very interesting to see what they do. They're the big men for the Knights you know Alex Crawford had a big game yesterday with 20 points six rebounds at six eight, but we just don't have anybody that matches the size of Odin a route for the Vikings so I think they're gonna have to be running everybody Adam today and we'll see how that goes.
I'd say so it's gonna be a big day for the Knights big men to be able to slow down someone that they like you said they do not have a counterpart to someone that is six foot 10 and and abroad body as well at that. Good download moves. Crawford had a wonderful day yesterday and it's going to be a new challenge for him today.
He had a he had a good game and so did so did. kJ Bradley was outstanding yesterday for the night with 29 points, six rebounds, six, six assists, five rebounds quite a day for him. And he's going to need it. I think they're going to need it. Him and a lot more to get over things with the West Valley Vikings today.
And coming into this weekend we had our ranks. Fullerton was one to tell us st knights were four in Vegas valley is three but we're going to definitely see a shake up at the top after Yeah, sure looks
like it and it could be even the nights if they can get this one under their belt. So we'll see. Here

And it's like It's gonna be a follow up on the Knights pounding

that's a problem. Joe second foul on Crawford. They gave you that one to Alex Crawford. He was he was trying to come in from kind of the top to help. One they got the ball down low but got his hand in there. Charlotte is going to have to go to the bench very
quickly to looks like they're going to bring Stratton in for Crawford after the two two fouls
those are gonna be some big shoes to fill.
Actually know they're switching looks like there's confusion I was confused that qubit would come out but instead of Crawford KJ with the ball over to Houston

Nice defense by the Knights. There was watching Bradley. They're coming over the top of the screens, ball screens and several tips already by the Knights. That one gets a turnover. Let's see what we get some points. Putting
good pressure in the frontcourt or putting the pressure on the three point line. kJ with the ball. Cubic giving a screen trying to put something together he takes a three and it is good. Brad that continues continues with the hot hand from yesterday. Three points for him. He brings it up, passes it over to Reagan gets trapped gets it down to do Nehru. And right there off. I do Danilo and it's out of balance. So the Knights as we
talked about, there's the double that that the Knights put on. On the Vikings on the Vikings big man Oh Denae. Whoo and that's one way to potentially give him stopped
giving good pressure on him and so far it looks like they're making it hard to get it to them.
Yeah, they've made that that pass down deep into the post a couple times. But the but the Knights are really trying to push him out and not give him any kind of easy looks in the block there which they're going to need to do to kind of keep him under control. He had 19 points and 11 rebounds a double double and yesterday's victory over number one Fullerton so he's he's going to be someone that we're gonna have to be wrestling the nights are going to need to be wrestling with all day so far. The home teams up seven two
and as of right now he has their only points on two free throws from a fall earlier on. The difficult part for the Knights right now is Crawford starting the game with two fouls within the first two minutes. They've needed to go to strat and then replacement up So now they're going qubit and strat and as they're big men to keep Oh Denae whoo neutralized
quick reset there and KJ is gonna bring it up. Coming off of that three the last time they had the ball let's see if they can continue to develop good plays and set up easy shots. Looks like a similar design but he's unable to get the three this time Dargan with the ball screen by he drove into the basket looks like he's got space and he puts it in

Bradley really? Yes. As you said before, picking up where he left off yesterday and driving the offense. Literally driving into the into the paint there on that one. Green
takes the inbound swings around to Bradley rather than looking for a shot and they're gonna call travel on him
one of the things that Bradley said yesterday was that he really was hoping that he would be you know, get his fellow teammates more Lux in the game so he's that's one of his things he's going to be focusing on. Keeping his
elbow swatted away. Looks like we got another matchup Mahi on Stratton strands got to step up his defense here making moves and he's he has to kick it back up. Five seconds on the shot clock. Bracing with the ball he's losing it fades away and it is no good. shot clock violation on the Vikings knights ball
got rid of the ball but shot an air ball so violation you could tell the defense knights defense really could could feel the clock ticking down there and we're putting that extra pressure on to try to get that and sure enough another turnover
knights ball. Bradley brings it up trying to get space driving to the basket. Lose the ball but recovers it is able to take it back out 13 on the shot clock looking to put something together here. They drives in again. Out distract and Stratton makes my he slipped gets the rebound again after two offensive rebounds. Blocked by Oh done a wound and there's the slam
code and they were making his presence known there with that big slam. Knights had a shot at that after Miss
Bradley looked like he was trying to take the charge on on Mahi and then after the event so Denae will just cleans it up with a big slam but there's green with a wonderful jumper. To help the Knights keep pace still leading by three green with his fourth point there. Briscoe drives in turns around fade tip back out to Kendall Kendall throws it back up there and there's the big man getting the tip getting offensive rebound and they're able to get a second chance. Green bringing up the ball takes the three is unable to put it in and a defensive rebound for the Vikings target is dragging the bringing the ball up pushing the pace of it drives right up to the basket rolls in and out in green gets the rebound. Bringing it back three on three looks like they're going to slow it down. into the corner Bradley KJ takes the screen kicks it out to love and love takes the three and nails it

Vikings are a much smaller team. But pretty quick move there. I Briscoe
Briscoe drove in and was able to get the layup they're putting pressure on love as He brings the ball up over to Gonzalez to Houston, going straight up to the basket he's met there but it does not matter. He puts the
ball in nicely took the contact there and finished.
Vikings are pushing the pace now. Kendall over to brown. And now Briscoe driving again. He had that nice lap last drive the jump shot is overshot by Davis. And Stratton gets the rebound. Gonzalez has the ball he's bringing it up. Get Stratton on a pass and he's able to put it right in wonderful cut to the basket by Stratton wonderful pass by Gonzalez.

They seem to be handling the pressure. The Vikings wants out and they will went out seem to bump up their ball pressure on defense but the Knights seem to be able to get through that and get some buckets.

offensive foul for Kimber off top and that's ones on 35 Oh Nehru that would be something that the knights would like to see is him a little bit in foul trouble
it's his first follow the game first as a Kimber obvious showing his talent, his talent to draw offensive fouls it's it's a skill it's important. That's a travel

It was by Bradley sometimes it seems like the reps may call some of that. getting in the way kicking your legs out but that was a kind of a kick to the side. That wasn't your standard kicking out in front Bradley's got seven points. His first free throws of the contest are coming up here
tonight seemed to be shooting really well for mid range and they're getting their shots to fall and they're getting that opportunity and they will disperse free throw and it is good

He has done some pretty good work there against Stratton so far in this first half backing him down. Giving him shaken bake a little bit.
Bradley to Houston Houston looking for strat and Stratton gets the ball. See if he can do the same on Mahi and he's unable to get the Fade. Oh but they get the rebound he takes another mid range jump shot and sinks it so a second chance opportunity there for the Knights and they take advantage

it's gonna be a fall on the Knights it fell Bracey going up for that shot without the nail on the court they Viking seem to have been pushing the pace more when he's not out there
yeah, this has been a very kind of fall free for the most part. First half. Well, it's now only the Vikings in the bonus. But yes, yesterday we had the Knights Chabot games, lots of fouls. Honestly
at the end of the first half it was 11 to 12 Yeah, both teams reaching the double bonus in both halves. Gracie after missing the first one gets the second one making it a two point game. Oh Janae was back in. It's gonna be Stratton's responsibility to take him on. kJ brings the ball up pick from Stratton. position there Stratton with the three and he hits.
Almost nothing hits the rim
Gargan takes over the side. Oh, Denae was getting positioning Stratton there's a double team but doesn't seem fair enough. But he misses it anyway. But the offensive rebound on my he leads to follow
up the Vikings have gone Go to their big lineup with both old and a woo in my hand as well as darkens got pretty good size on him to at six four
so far seems both of those players even alone have been difficult for the knights to handle especially with Crawford's foul trouble but having them both on the court is an even heavier lift. It'll be
interesting to see how this last minute goes here. The Knights had been bleeding most of this half but Vikings are back in it.
Got a one point game with one minute left in the half green with the ball gets the screen from Stratton strat and driving to the basket gets some attention kicks it out to Houston back down to Stratton and he's able to draw the follow on. Mahi
Mahi looked like took a swipe down at that one and seen his name called before he's got I guess is that maybe is first. We believe that's his first foul. But that was interesting action there with Stratton putting the ball on the floor and then dishing it out.
He definitely pulled some attention was able to find Houston over there. Stratton nails and both puts the lead back up to 349 seconds left the waning moments of the first half. Candle over to Dargan Dargan drive into the basket finds Mahi underneath the hook for a wonderful layup and here's KJ bringing it up. Looks like they're gonna take it slowly.
About a five second difference in the shot clock in the game clock and
try to get a score here and and not give the Vikings another chance. As Bradley there's a screen from Stratton gets it over to strand is going to drive on our DNA will underneath back out to Bradley takes the three and that is going to be shot clock violation ball did not hit the rim 3.7 seconds here for the Vikings to possibly take the lead before the end of the half. Interesting
to see what kind of defense the Knights put on here. They're gonna press it right off the top. I would imagine so.
Boundary two takes up the deep lawn and it is no good from Kendall and that's gonna be the half for the game between the knights and the Vikings West Valley Vikings SD city knights knights go in with a one point lead. And sorry, the game may die would say and I think you said it earlier about offensive rebounds.
Yeah, the rebounding differential is large eight offensive rebounds for the Vikings versus to only two offensive rebounds in that half for the city knights a total rebounds difference of 21 for West Valley and nine for San Diego city. So that is definitely a big deal with points. The other kind of differentials Yeah, they're just pretty even on assists, five for West Valley six for the Knights shooting. Pretty similar, similar pace. The Knights are shooting 48% from the field 37 From deep three for eight. So they have taken eight threes or there's been some threes going up. And from the line five for five so they've had all their free throws. West Valley, shooting 50% from the field, only one for seven from deep so 14% there and then four for six from the free throw line.
All things considered, though start in this half. We knew that the big men for West Valley were going to be a challenge. Oh Denae, who is the largest player on the court and Mahi is been playing phenomenally especially being matched up with Stratton and being able to get his points. But the biggest thing that could have happened was Crawford getting two fouls in the first two minutes and Alex Crawford has not played since he was taken out with about 18 minutes left in the game and a half. Crawford
has two points in this game, and he had 20 yesterday so that's a big difference for for San Diego city. And what I also found interesting was how the how the Vikings you know would switch up by when Odin a new Odin a was out of the game and they begin pressing out a little bit higher, not relying on, you know, not having him deep to rely on when guys would, you know, get to the get to the rim. So that was kind of an interesting thing to watch during that half. And it will be i It would be very interesting to see what the difference is with Crawford back in the game, having two fouls he's got he's got two Yeah, so he'll have three in the second half to work with. So it'll be interesting to see how that goes.
I'm sure we'll see him coming out in second half he'll be fresh and ready to go and hopefully for the Knights sake he can help slow down those big men and hopefully get some points underneath as well as he was very efficient. so we can take a look. I wanted to let folks know about the upcoming games on the schedule for the Knights there. Today is Sat Friday and so they've got a week off they'll be back in action. Next Friday the 17th heading to the Allan Hancock College for the home motors tournament. Three games in three days so it's gonna be quite a shot for them. They play Santa Barbara on Friday and then San Jose on Saturday. And then they have a game against Allan Hancock, the host of that tournament on Sunday so 17th 18th and 19th up in Santa Maria California so there'll be doing that in looking around the other games in the pack. Pacific Coast Athletic Conference PC AC on Friday, the 10th we've got mountain Sanya Santo is playing Kuya Makkah so these are teams that are in the same conference as the Knights are also Southwestern will be playing Golden West tonight and five. San Diego Mesa College plays Riverside also at five and then Imperial Valley will be squaring off against West Hills Limor at seven o'clock in the Cuyamaca tournament. So that's that's a little bit of a look around the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. And some tips during the week, including San Diego city yesterday versus Chabot. 8974 Grossmont was lost to Victor Valley yesterday at 179. And then Southwestern dropped one to Southwestern Southwestern dropped one to LA Harbor 64 to 60. So that's kind of a roundup of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Some of the teams that will be playing once the Knights get into conference play.
And for anyone who doesn't know that knights are undefeated last year and won the PCAC and I believe they've routinely won the bcac as well
kind of been the cream of the crop there for A Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

oh it it's Templar Knights but saved by KJ but goes back to the Vikings three from Reagan and he nails it with the fall four point play opportunity for the Vikings to take a three point lead
well that's one way to come right out of the barrel and get something
as Reagan's first points in the game was all for one from the field as well as from three in the first half
any males the free throw the first lead for the Vikings and quite a long time. I want to say since the first points of the game, green with the ball down, tried to get it down to Crawford but that's turnover
that looked like the first play that they ran in the first half. Tried to dump it down low into Crawford.
