Okay, so not too much new business stuff to talk about, but some cool off stuff to go through. So let's, let's get into it. No confirmations, no reports. Let's start with James. Thank you again. Paula, thank
you for Thank you. I
keep saying
things just so for committees. So I'm going really well. Just finished the money, yes, and was a great semester. The spar for it, and then probably will be on holidays after
next week's Crash Course update, I named the Casey Campbell this week to discuss the craft stores being implemented onto the app. And so we're going to discuss all those logistics and talk with the app developers to see how they can incorporate it in there, to
make sure it works functionally
and still gets but they want to get done, done amendment wise. I plan on presenting late next week. I'm working on that finish. I'm finishing working on that this week, and to make it sound like a proper event. And then for the other thing that I'm working on is incorporating SGC to the goal orientation with Caleb that I will be bringing up an appointment, because there were a lot of things with discussing this with Carrie, Anne, Tye and Aela. So thanks so
much. Hello.
Nothing crazy new to use the report, mostly on the account it's very difficult to schedule 12 people under different schedules. So we created this entity. Recreate this entity, student senate, music, theater and dance, two people from each departments. We have six departments, and originally we met with just the dean. By at that point, two deans. We had Steve and Louise because we were in the process of getting a new E. We have one now. Steve, so our goal then it was just a listening session for the deans, and they would go and we voice our concerns, and they would go, we could fix that, or we're trying, or we'll get on that, or your should out loud if we can't really do that. And now we're we started to meet independently of the deans and go through. Our goal that we want to work on is figuring out why there's so much animosity between different majors, and why there's like, why some, you know one student that said that they feel like when they go they're dealing with student when they go to whale it feels like they're in high school and like the vice versa. To figure out figure out why that is, and they feel like they don't belong. So we're seeing school like music is in well and theater dance is in Dillingham. We feel like there's a disconnect. We shouldn't you know, some some students may hope that they think their major is is better than another, but even though we're ball and performing arts, so we should all feel that we're equal to each other, not better. And some of that may come from the faculty level or from the staff or like some student groups may get more funding, more attention from the dean's office or from, you know, in programming and stuff. And we want to make that more equal and more equitable, so everyone gets what they need, and so they don't feel left behind or left out. So at this point, we're doing more literature review and seeing what happens in other schools. We've just gone through we found, like, a bunch of research papers on like, why that animosity exists and why people put themselves over others, even though they're we're all here to learn more, right? And then we'll move on to, like, doing interviews with faculty and staff and students, and then getting, like surveys, surveys of students and like why they feel that way, or what they think is causing it. So then we can go through and, you know, make recommendations that need, and go we want more funding in this group because they feel that a different group is being prioritized more. So that's kind of like our goal. I come on two other committees, but those have been the same in the last three Senator reports. That's very cool. I would
suggest, if you're looking at those social relationships, talking
to psychology professor Leanne Vaughn. She does a lot of social psych research. We were talking about that class A couple weeks ago. So, yeah, we
met with Ron Dow, who is the MTDS like social services expert, and he talked to listen to what we were thinking. Bobby had these concerns, and we'll be working with them in the future at pinpoint what we can change, what we can recommend, cool.
Very, very cool. You guys, you're wrong. Let's move on to officer reports. These officer reports are going to be a little different than normal, because there's going to be a lot of action items. So get ready to possibly say, hey, that seems like something cool. I'm interested
in first. Shaw, go first. I'm gonna alternatively, like suggest, in the language of our age, normally, that we like do it in one big open agenda, right, where we all go ahead and talk about our different initiatives, and just says, Yeah, let's keep that officer, unfortunately, super short set. Okay, so number one, well, actually, I know we're in a pool. We're going to talk about my signing up for certain things. So I've been talking about giving day for a while now, right? And we are still looking for volunteers for giving day. Certain people have liked the message of teams, but I don't think it's nearly enough people as as the people who like nod and are excited about it in the meeting. So can you just do a little trick? Do a little show of hands, if you would be interested in helping out, giving me tables where you would be writing, thank you, where we demanding tables where people can come and write. Thank yous to donors, and then you can also advertise, as you see, can I get a very quick show of hands? Okay? Okay.
Perfect. Um, perfect,
yeah, when does it? I'd say end of April, 25 25th you're so fine, like, these are just names, and then they'll get back, they'll reach out to you, and then if you're not able to, okay, this is just an interesting Okay. Updates from experience. I think that which was okay, perfect updates from updates from experience. I think it was the admissions event this past week. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who tabled. I just found out from a fellow like from someone who visited admissions us that there were 27 to 20 people who committed to IC that very day, like during the proceedings, which I think the really phenomenal and kind of talent of how much work the like college is put into making sure that these people really have time when they're here. And a big part of that is you and a contribution. So maybe just have a round of applause for themselves. Everyone. Okay? And then lastly, we do have the SGC open house coming up soon. Keep your ears, your eyes peeled and your ears open. About a bid for that. It's April 14. Seven to nine in this room, we're going to view food and fun format. If you have ideas, opinions, feedback from the last town hall, get back to us and station that's okay.
So right now, all I really have is transparency. Is currently working on our accessibility bill. So there's a couple of things that are going on. We are the bill is focusing on updating science here on campus, highlighting festival routes on campus, map on both in person with more slides, creating a program for Orientation Week that kind of goes over the like the acronyms of like buildings and things like that, and also really getting students aware of these successful routes, as I mentioned. And so we're in the stage of reaching out to people and having meetings and discussing things. So we're working currently with the disabled students, Alliance, ops, NSCP, Amy shippos from parking who, when we reached out, were referred to her. And basically they're starting to work on the highlighting, because for us, mechanics map already, and so we're trying to see how we can help out with that. And then other than that, we are writing the kind of the first draft of what a role would look like. So if anyone who isn't in campus Affairs Committee is interested in accessibility and wants to help out with this building, we'd love to have you, if you can't take the meeting time, which is Tuesdays 530 to 630 just let me know, and I can give you some like asynchronous work to work on, as for the bill. And yeah, that's pretty much it for me. I That's pretty much it for me. Thank you
so much. Kathy, yes, appropriations, there will be no meeting this week. Very exciting. There's still some stuff new, which I will send you on teams. It's not a lot, so please keep your eyes on teams. Check it. You should always submit it. Additionally. Tim downs, wanted to thank all of you for the great questions that you asked. He was very happy
about it, and he was very excited about how much the Senate actually is involved in
asking questions. Yeah.
Caleb, so um experienced Ithaca event. Um also we have really prepared our SGC trifle to include, as suggested by our committee, the word Student Government, Council, governance, Council, like right underneath SGC. So that is clear, and we did a great job working on that during our meeting. So thank you, everyone for the Communications Committee. Since then, I've worked on kind of a plan for public relations, for the town hall, which is going to hurt. So it also goes, it goes through, like, which things need to be changed, because they say town halls, and like, what new things we need to create stuff. So I will work with that, with the committee and the E board, but in the future, like as of next week, I will have a list of locations that need posters and also resources to advertise to your classes, and I will ask people to sign up and try to announce as much as possible and use a little demo kind of I reenact this scenario where I'm talking about the open house to all of you, and you could just say the exact same thing I said. And yeah, that's mostly everything going on right now. We're gonna go full, full promo mode and get the word out, and get people up here, because it's not a place they could
just walk through an allies up here, but it's gonna have food.
So we got some good rap prizes,
guys, you're not ready for us, yes, but you can really only be eligible if you bring friends. Okay, cool. Can I get a sneak peek? Yeah, point to
information. May or may not have a key part to ask for a week. Just saying, spread them over your
minds. No, we gotta think they can get
one anyways, anyways, there's more where that came from. Get excited. The end of this week. Any
questions I have a
bit more short cool. Why can My thing is also broken agenda. I put myself first, so get excited. Okay, well, it seems like we haven't talked before already, but before that, next week's guest speaker, President, everybody who gets excited. It's gonna be awesome. Tell, maybe tell your tell your friends, maybe tell your apps, because tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell tell your mom who wants to come in like that's cool. Remember, hi, hey, remember, although President Cornish is the president, which means that she overlooks everything we want to ask her the most meaningful questions that really fall under her view. So you guys have very clearly asked some really thoughtful questions, and you've been really grateful to our guest speakers this semester. So shout out you all. But part of this one, I tell you the week before, who the guest speaker is is, so you can really click on questions that you want to ask them. So definitely think about it. Yeah, I want to say ahead of
time that every single time President orange comes in, some of somebody asks about the mascot, and I think it turns into a long discussion that we have, like once a semester, that we do not need to have. And I would not look very so many things that we could discuss other than that, and we know that we are not showing to change the mask facts,
maybe one day, but I don't know if that's a president mortgage type of type of talk. Okay, cool. Any questions about that before I move on.
Okay, so, oh, geez, Louise, okay, okay, okay.
Together, Simon, you want to go to this talk order? Yes,
I see you. I see you. Okay, cool, so I'll go first time. So my action item, I want to create a piece of legislation to add a land acknowledgement to the beginning of every senate meeting. I'm going to need, like, one to two senators to help me draft this. It's going to be, I can already, I can envision in my mind. It's not going to be super long, but I'm just gonna need a little bit of help drafting it. And also, I can't talk about myself. I see two days already. Okay, that's Regina, and I see Gino. Okay, lovely. Thanks guys, you rock. We'll be in contact. Cool. Rochelle,
yeah, my point kind of follows up from Nikki's thing. So I should give you all a little bit of context. So each board member tonight is going to speak about some initiative you really want to love before the end of the year. Right? We're trying to get as many things as we can done, just purely from a point of view of what are the changes we can make? What have you seen? What can we kind of fix before the end of the year? Right? It is strongly recommended that if you are not already running some kind of initiative on your own, that you help out with one fees, right? Just so you can get experience doing initiative, working on legislation, something like that. So there's going to be a couple different options. Raise your hand if any of them seem interesting. Okay, that's all so me, personally, I'm going to be running a student governance council search. So we're going to be running a search for the student body so we can elect one of our ex officio positions, which is the student liaison to the alumni board. Now they are just like Mo. They serve to go for excluding positions, and they contact one of the members of this shared governance model we have the alumni board. If you want more information about what that position entails, you can let me know. But if you want to help out with that search, I would you know, please feel free to raise your hand right now. But also, if you're already doing a lot of things you know, like, make like, don't put this like,
make sure it's not
like a fantasy on your plate. You know what I mean, like this is not take care of yourself too. Yes. Is there anyone who would like to be able Lori, okay, perfect. Thank you.
Everyone. Push back on there
for the Caleb, you next Yes.
Okay, so obviously I mentioned my thing that's gonna be like, I'm gonna have a sign up sheet next week, keep that in mind. But also, a couple of weeks ago, I sent out a message in our SGC channel, which included a document that people could add SGC talking points onto. There are some talking points here, but I added them all. So can I have like, three people who could maybe just try to think of like five of the best things about SGC that they want to talk about, and they could add on to this? Oh, thank you. That is good. This is for people who table or in general, but this way probably some of the Jump Start that I can add. Thank you so much for sure. Thanks. Team Kathy, yeah,
so the appropriations website,
and I need some help from people who are not I mean, they can also be on appropriations, but people who look over it and just tell me, Hey, this needs to be changed. This is unclear. This needs to be fixed. Because me personally, if I read it again, so if anyone wants to help me with
that, thank you guys are freaking
awesome. This is like coming off
of what I mentioned philosophy. So the utilities thing I was going to do throughout Shaw RHA, she gonna do it through SBC recommendation. So that's going to be to have as a recommendation. So that's going to be anything that I wouldn't do crowdsourcing and see what that comes to things that they want to see in the dorms. And that's going to be across campus, not just like towels, terraces, distance between gardens, Everson and circles as well, and like anything recommended, like the
following year, so be there. So if you think that's interesting, quality of life on campus.
Specific items.
Yeah, so there's gonna be like items on recommendation that we want to
see. So like, for example, toasters in the kitchens.
Very necessary, valid, cool, so you might
answer that, yeah, okay, cool. Okay, did you have
one? Okay, that's
what I thought. Like Marshall,
I just wanted to give an update about SG,
SCSC, social
justice and sustainability committee, our initiative about transclusion
and sports,
specifically club sports, because that's my area. Um, I have been in contact with the officers, the E Board members of the women's club sports teams, because this family actually only affects women's sports. And sadly, I'm not really getting responses. So I am talking to Johnny with Shaw replacement. No one told me that Shaw got fired, by the way, what I will. Laughter. No, yeah. Sorry. He went to Portland. I think I Portland. I think he joins always, whatever he did, get fired. Sorry, I don't know why I said that. He left to go to Portland. And Johnny is such a place that he's great. We've been in a lot of contact. He's been reaching out for to national club sports associations for me to not put myself in danger, which has been great. I been great. We are having a club officer transition meeting for the newly elected e boards for club sports. And I talked to him about giving a short presentation about not only what the options are in terms of having transgender athletes on your team, because there are some things that can be worked around and that people might be willing to go through with, that I just want people to be aware of. And second, what I want people to be more aware about SGC, specifically my role on SGC as the senator, because I don't think a lot of people are aware of this position, and I think it's really helpful for the club sports just know more about it in general. So that'll be happening, and I'm continuing gathering research and stuff to try and decide, like, if an amendment can be made or something in order to further protections for trans athletes on campus. But yeah, that's all
I have information.
From what I know of what I hear from Jocelyn, there is kind of low participation within SGS. So this is another thing that if you're looking for something to get involved in, I obviously once the ball kind of gets rolling on hearing back from the organizations. This is something else that you all come up with. So talk to me, talk to Marshall. We
meet Saturdays at 630 or seven. Yeah. How have you guys agreed on a new meeting time? Because I know that you
said to the teams that you have you haven't been having meetings because of conflicts with times. Yeah. Are you guys times. Yeah, are you guys? Have you guys decided on a meeting? Sometimes we haven't. I'll be. I've been in
contact with council. Okay, so we're still waiting on Yeah, okay, cool.
Bucha. So as I mentioned earlier
that I met with the NSC office, and Kayla was there as well to discuss SGC involvement in orientation, specifically fall orientation. And so we have some ideas that schedule wise, wouldn't fit, like when we all are moved back on campus, and like, by the time we're all back. So we just kind of keep this in your mind a little bit as this election also comes up. And like, we continue before until for next semester, but we're kind of thinking to have a place doing a whole sense sort of situation. And so, Fauci, I hope you all participated. Unfortunately, I did it, so I had to learn about this. And so there is an idea as to where SGC would have seen the event. And we would present the, I forgot all the stuff before, like, a pilot group. So like, we would have CD event. And then we would also, like, do those shout outs, like, hey, they are these open positions, and get involved here. And to be able to incorporate that, because that's what they're trying to do is, like, increase the amount of people that are also out of town Fest this year, and it's on Sunday, from one to three. The executive said Sunday before classes. I'm pretty sure, if I'm not mistaken, and so, like, that's one of the sort of incorporations into that, as well as helping out on the move in committee to help, like, move students in and have like, the name tag. It's like, not even busy to say, like, Hi, my name is, you know, Rochelle. It'll be like, ask me about my SGC position, and then it's like, have that as a conversation starter. So like, pull your luck in, I don't know, someone's fridge or shower candy up the stairs. You know, they just haven't really picked ask you about this. Have you guys before we make conversation starter. And then this is specifically for the I don't even know how like categorized, but like the very general positions, like my position, senators, Senators at large, like first gen SOCC, to where you would go to the designated like an event that they hold during orientation, for example, they hold a transfer lunch until, like, the respective senator for that event would go there and let me know if this is like a lot, and we could play delete on this a little bit more, but sort of like having that sort of involvement to where we're there throughout the entire process, to be able to, like, have their respective person and like, Hey, this is me, and in A way, to also have link for the schools representatives for like, each academic school, also have linked on a promo piece and have that shown during the academic sessions where all the students are here in their respective schools and like, have that played with. Like, hey, you also this person. You can run my phone and like, have talk about your position through the air. Obviously, it's going to be harder. It's like, physical, but like, if you could do promo piece, that would be really cool. So like, really increase involvement, and have like to be incorporated throughout the entire process. And then SGC, we included in the weekly student letters that are sent out during the course of the summer, all throughout the summer, and for them to be like, themed, if that makes sense, because that's what the city office is thinking about doing. And so yeah, sort of one of the ideas we were still following for, like SGC and moment while orientation, let me know some of them are a little wonky, or you disagree, or they're gonna be approved. Kind of information,
orientation is before you official in the mid day for continuing students. So this is something you would have to consider, because you were then kind of bringing you're kind of requiring students to come to college before
you actually have to or continuing students, yeah. So I think they did something wonderful. That is the big limitation I'm seeing, because boom and crew, historically is done by like, athletes and Ras just because they're already required to be on campus. So that's how they help out. I'm not saying it's like, not doable. It would just mean that at the end of the election cycle in the spring, when our centers have been like, you know that first meeting we have, it would be like, a, let's get into business, like, make sure you show up early for for XYZ, right? And so it might be slightly harder to plan, just because we can't really make that commitment. Like, we can't be like, Oh yeah, we'll definitely have our XYZ side or show up for this, right? Just because that's not something that we have to be able to plan during the very short week just before finals, when we have that last meeting of the year. Yeah, yeah, just a thought, but it is a great yeah. Like, these are definitely things that
we talked about so and like I drawn upon a on, like, the experience of like, when other SEC members, like before we had joined, were at our orientation, facilitating, and that's like, I think there was kind of an implication that it would at least be allowed for us to come back early. But I we were kind of thinking about ways to make it so that, like, even if you know the class of or the music, theater, dance, Senator, for example, could not come, oh, like, Could another senator fill in? Or could it be like we focus on, like, keyboard positions, could, you know, like, do some sort of thing, or, like, does the outgoing person film the video, or the ingoing person just goes to introduce themselves, because we're considering, like, Okay, people might not know their roles yet. If they are going for the first time, there might not be someone filling every single role. So this is a different part of our conversation around it, and I think that point
too stuff like fracking Fest and like work fair and like sports events and stuff like that. All of that is usually, I mean, not limited to but it's usually for sec numbers like they've never been just because then they have like that. They like, no, oh yeah, come back earlier in the next fall. And so that usually ends up 8e board members. So I love the ideas where it's like, it doesn't matter which positions, because then it's like, no matter what, there'll be someone who could come back early in the fall. But if we, if we do it, where it's like every like identity based or school based center would have to go to this event that's before classes. That would mean that, like, all our centers would have to come back before classes start, which, again, not unimaginable. Just like it would have to be that one extra step, because, like, what I was thinking about, counteracting that, rather than having people physically there, like the video, this is who I am. This is my major. This is what I do. This is like, I don't know if you have thought on your initiative by that point, like you're interested in or just friendly, doing most field and like that being played by the people who do the academic sessions, which are usually like, the Deans come in and they do their whole thing. And so kind of, like having, like, a promo piece, just never played a long meeting to there. So, like, that's kind of what we were thinking. Because I know, like, moving in a bit early, if you're not already, like, an RA or your job requires you to be back on campus earlier. It's a little bit difficult, and it was a little bit hectic for, like, the school to be like, Hey, let's have other people move in early when it's COVID, students who haven't been here for the first time. You know, coming and moving into like, doing some sort of piece, and having that like played into The experience through the session, obsession, orientation, period of solute,
cool. Hi everyone. Yay. Know that I love you all, and I don't just come here for free marketing,
but I wanted to just take this opportunity to share with all of you all, and also, therefore share with all your constituencies that the bipoc UNI Center Senior Leadership Award. Application is open and is closing next week, or in two weeks. We have done a couple of applications, but we want to get a couple more and and honestly, it's not an application. It's more of like an opportunity to celebrate individuals. So it's more of like a request system it is application. You will see where application anything is like this clear competitive process, while other awards on this campus are super competitive. This one really isn't, but we do have a cap, and so we're hoping to this is really good turnaround time, because the Commencement Committee is like, honest about giving them things that I don't have yet. So if y'all can help me market it, it's on the IG, I believe it got posted today. If y'all can repost it, our team took a lot of time to really be intentional. We restructured the way that we use the indict for our symbols, and wanted to also educate the community about what they are with, what they just walk on stage with assembly we don't really know about, right and so, and we're also honoring Dr Julie Neil this year. I promised he ithakin In this community that I'll find a way to cement his legacy. And so this is one of the ways that we're doing that. And so the 10 day schools are not restricted to any identity, right? If they were only Canadian students would be able to wear them, right? And so it's open for all in that race. Bass, right? So if anybody wants to who's a senior graduating, wants to recognize there's been additions that the first gen ceremony is going to be. Is like as the last year was merged. I think people are seeing the bipoc beauty center word and forgetting that the first gen programs lives in our office, and so I just don't want people to oversee that, because I will not accept applications after, like, I have to be very strict on timelines and deadlines, because it's not just my deadlines and timelines, right? Like the college like, they need to send things for printing. And I you know, this is us trying to include as many people, so all the different avenues that were emailed every senior who's registered to graduate this semester. So please help me get the word out. All the info on our IG, the form should be on our link cloud, and it's just like floating everywhere. So we'll get them, hopefully we're gonna get them on the them on the TV screens tomorrow, but they're on the first gen programs account, on black community account, so y'all can help me share them. Share that on your personal accounts and your club accounts. Tell all the seniors who might be interested. Yeah, and for each award, there's 10 schools. They're legit being woven right now, so the authentic stuff, all right, thank you. If you have any questions, I'll hang out. Most of what else you should have also received
an email letter today or cool, awesome, awesome. Thank you so much. Shaw, okay,
super quick academic policy committee, as we refer to the proto a couple weeks ago, which is a committee that all of our academic senators serve on, it is being currently restructured. So what they're essentially going to do is that they are dissolving what is ABC full, which is every single person in all three SubCom policy committee. So at full will not be meeting anymore if this permissions passed. Essentially, it will be just those three separate committees of assessment, policy, and curriculum. There will be three designees from.
Us. And they suggested, well, they're trying to gage whether we want the DP academic affairs to be one of them, or do we want those people to be like senators or non senators, stuff like that. This is obviously some like a place where we want your opinion, especially if you're an academic senator. So please shoot into this message if you have strong opinions of evidence about it, because we want to make sure that we can make a decision that's represented what SGC wants, especially because some of you might become academic senators or the VP of academic affairs in future years. So if you want to have a say in what your role would look like, yeah, when I'm saying what your role looks like, gives me five times safe.
So is that three senators in total for the entire APC, or is that three senators per committee, like one senator per committee, three in total, does not need to be a senator,
but yeah, probably would have to be designated by sec. The question is, is it two designees, one VP of Academic Affairs, or three designees, or some version of that? But they have three seats, and we have to fill them, how we choose to fill them, how they update their bylaws. That is up to us, but we need to get back to them by mid April. But I would love it like I'm gonna keep having conversations about this E board, but like with, like the intermediate Academic Affairs, which is the Accounting Board, but would love the senators meeting as well, in the interest of time today, not gonna be like an in person chat. So pleased to meet. If you have more questions, you can bring it up next meeting as well.
Awesome. Thank you. Yeah, I wanted
to try to keep this quick as well. Some people mentioned graduation, the end of the semester. So therefore I want all of you to reconsider if you're going to run again for SGC. But if you don't, the election committee is opening up these and I will be chairing this committee, because we only seniors on the seaboard. So if you think about not rerun, you can join this committee, because this is very important. The committee can only have people in it that do not, will not run for SGC. And so
I want you all to think about whether you want to run again, not if you don't want to reach out to Nick so, so we know
that's a clarifying question. By when do you need to assemble the Elections Committee? Like, why? When do you need all the names to start
so as soon as possible, would be the best. Because, soon as possible, would be best we want to start with, like promoting elections by
which is coming up very soon. Yes. Okay, anything else for the good of the group? I If not, I would favorably upon junction to adjourn. Any opposed. All right.
