Alright, well, can you just talk a little bit about the weekend so far with her? Just like what was most challenging out there? A lot of people had issues.
I think it's a wonderful field actually, it's perfect. I actually like it a lot better than the old one ... it adds a bit more atmosphere. She's quite careful. Sometimes in the past she'd be ultra careful. We'd kind of go sky high upfront and not be quite as good behind but she's really finishing behind. I'm trying to do my best to keep her engaged and coming forward. And she was very, very good. She's a privilege to ride for sure.
And what's the plan with her for tomorrow? Are you gonna be going for the time?
I think, go sort of efficiently fast. It's not make or break for real. Her ultimate goal is, again, that three-star long at Tryon to finish the qualifications to go to Pan Ams. And so that's my ultimate goal. So I'll go fairly good moving, but I'm not going to go insanely fast.
What did you think of just walking the course?
I think it's interesting. It's quite a bit different than years past because the first half or so is feels a lot more open and galloping than in the past, which is really nice. And then it gets pretty intense towards that sort of last third especially. But it should, I would expect, ride pretty well because horses will have a bunch of confidence by midway through the course I would think. Yeah, looking forward to it.
And then the show jumping -- do you think it just the day, the atmosphere, what do you think kind of contributed to all the issues?
Everything is built, you know, to spec and quite square. And the difficult thing about that field is a little bit undulation. So a bunch of the oxers were kind of off a little bit of roll back a little bit uphill. So if the horses got any bit backwards or behind your leg through the turn or just not connected they end up weak, sort of climbing up to it. I think that makes it a lot harder and it's a bit deceptive. And actually the same thing, roll back to the plank, so in a number of spots, it was almost a little off camber -- a little low and then coming up -- so if you really them honestly up to your hand, sort of mid turn, I think it came up pretty smoothly. If that fell apart then all of a sudden it got a lot more difficult real quick.
Does it happen often to have a triple bar in a a triple combination? I thought that was a little unusual.
Not so much triple bar in the triple. I don't know, we're starting to see more and more like triple bar one strides to a vertical. We've seen that a fair bit, actually. Yeah, it's just a bit different. The triple bar in some ways is a free jump, right? You don't have to worry about the front rail at all. That said, I got a little deep and I got the back rail because of it with the one horse. I mean, it happens but yeah, it's a nice change really. Something different to think about.
