We just had a call inside of shift our group coaching program. That was absolutely incredible. I got off with that call. And I was like, Wow, this was amazing. I started messaging some of the girls in the group. And I was like this was such a good conversation, messaging, the ones that weren't able to attend live. I mean, like you need to watch this replay. On that call. We talked about repurposing content, working through comparison, owning our authority and creativity when it comes to working with brands, building our business the way that we want to not based on what we see other people doing. It was such an honest, raw, amazing conversation that I had to reach out to the girls that were on the call and be like, is it okay with y'all if I share this on the podcast? And they said yes. So I am so excited for you guys to listen to this episode, and hear what our shift calls look like. So let's then what are lower lifts that we can do that are going to have a really big impact on our bottom line? And where are we stretching ourselves too thin? And is that going to give us the ROI that we're wanting? Like sometimes I feel like I'm we can easily overcomplicate things, and then like drown ourselves and like push ourselves to the max when it's like, okay, hold on, we started this business. So we could do the opposite of that, right? We started this business so we could have more freedom and flexibility. And yet, like why do we feel like we are spread so thin and drowning? Like that's not? Why we're doing this? That's not? So like, how do we get out from underneath that and like, reevaluate where our time is going. And like for me, I'm looking at like, Okay, I need to, I know, I need to make another hire, like, I know that I need more help in my business. So it's like working through that mindset of like, Wait, what is stopping me from doing this? Like, Liz, I know, I've talked with you like so much about like, you need to hire VA, you need to hire VA. And so it's working through that mindset of like, Why are we stopping ourselves from doing it? You know, and getting to like, kind of those root reasons of what's going on. And then looking further ahead, like, Okay, let me look three months ahead of like, what could my life look like in three months if I just like bite the bullet and do this now. So whether that's with like, getting somebody to help you or, again, just like reevaluating, like when I'm stretched too thin? And who put that pressure there in the first place and why and is actually going to give me the ROI that I want or should I throw everything on the wall and kind of re scramble things?
Yeah, makes me think of something. There's a content. Well, he's I think he's only on Instagram. He's a DIY home blogger. But he is like He teaches at a university in North Carolina like full time. So that's like what he does Friday. But I think he does a lot of his projects during the week and fills them. But what he does is he does not get on to stories until the weekend. Like it could just be only Saturday and Sunday or the occasional like Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and he has trained his audience that he is only showing up on the weekend because that is the balance that he needs for his life. And he just hit a million followers on Instagram. That's fascinating. And it always just makes me think like, I feel like I'm always always hustling and I need to show up today I need to do this. I need to do that. But it has me thinking like the pace in which I show up is going to be the expectation of my community. So in other words, like if I want to slow down some I have to adjust my audience to them. That's
brilliant. Yeah, and Haley said It's similar to how YouTubers have dedicated days and times they post people expect it and look forward to it. Interesting to see stories could work the same way. I love the HR that list, I
remember him, I remember Him and His stories were like, I'm going to do it this amount of time for just weekends. And he was, but those are, but they're gonna be good stories. He
is like his, it's like his own like HGTV show going on, it kind of stresses me out to watch it because I know the production that goes on behind it for him to do that. But it works. And he gets he was at a conference that I went to he even goes as far as like when he works with brands, because he only shares on the weekends, he refuses to submit content to them to pre approve, he basically tells them, if I caught your eye and you want to work with me, that means the trust is already there. And you're going to trust that I'm going to do a good job. And so he doesn't do any of the content submission to get pre approved and edits and feedback. And so there He's saving his time as well. But he does phenomenal work, which is to develop or flop.
I love that you hear words that that way of like you hired me for a reason. Yeah, I think you know, it's what I what I love about this group. It's like I'm looking around the room, even though I'm looking at like 70 names, because everybody's like all over the place today, which is totally fine. But I'm like, You guys all have different businesses in the same industry. And you all do things differently. Like and you all are making money slightly, like there's a lot of similarities. But then there is a lot of like, differences happening. And it's just proof to just remember that like, when you start to feel overwhelmed and start to feel like I'm getting buried a little bit, it's that you get to build your business in the way that you want to build your business. You don't have to build it the same way you see everybody else doing on Instagram or on Tik Tok or anywhere else, like you get to do it the way that you want to do it, right, like Amy is solely focused on like selling digital products like that's how she is making a majority of her income. Liz, you're making a ton of money from working with brands or working with affiliates. I'm so excited for you guys to meet Remi, who is new to the group. But she I talked to her on the phone last week, she actually purchased three blogs from somebody and she is in the process of like they're all unwrapped IV already. And she's in the process of like scaling those and working on those brands and building that revenue stream out. So it's just like so cool to see that like we can all have these similarities. And yet you can still build your business in a way that fits your lifestyle. And you don't have to bury yourself because you're saying so and so doing X, Y and Z on social media. And now a quick word from our sponsor. Are you ready to get paid for your creativity have more flexibility and make a consistent monthly income without overwhelm? So let's do this thrive together dot blog slash shift. So many of us and I know we've talked about this before but need to go back through our content that we've already created and reshare it again. Especially if you're feeling like stretched thin or like I need to be able to get ahead a little bit like going back and re sharing that content. Whether it's like repurposing it on social Media repurposing it for an email. Like there's so much content that is amazing that you guys have created that like when was last time your audience saw it. But go ahead.
The thing with the repurposing content, I've made it to where, right before I share real, I'll save it to my camera roll and have it in an album just titled reels. And my contents, even though it's seasonal, it's very evergreen. So like, if I had a recipe that I made last year, I'll share it again, sometimes it does happen better than the year before. But it gives me a little breathing room. If I'm like, you know, I didn't feel like making content this week, or the weather wasn't good, or I had something come up, I can just have that, you know, in the back of my hand to have just in case. So that's been very helpful for me. So if anyone has seasonal evergreen, share that again, because probably most likely a lot of your followers didn't see it when you posted a year ago, or they don't even remember it. Um,
your content especially like I think everybody for sure, but like your reels, I feel like you could literally just copy and paste it again. Because like I had lists I Okay, good. Like unless I'm like, made that particular cocktail. And I'm like obsessed with it. I am not going to remember that you posted that caught that cocktail recipe a year ago. Exactly.
And the other thing to bring, I want to maybe talk with you for my freebie, do I really need a launch for that? Or can I just like, Okay, I know I'm gonna need a launch for the newsletter. Once we're once we're done with the email challenge and things like that. I'm gonna need a launch for that. But I don't know how to
begin early evening need a launch for it, though? I don't think so, you know, the only time you think you like should maybe try like a launch for anything is if you've decided to sell digital products. And it's not in a tripwire form. So if you're not doing it like so if somebody signs up for your free opt in, and then they automatically get sent to like a thank you page that has something they can purchase. And if it's so it's not set up like that. And it's more so like a standalone products, like when Liz did her ornament and you know, your different things like, then you kind of want to do like some type of launch and like teaser and leading up to it and all of that. Otherwise, now you just put that opt in out there and get people on your list and start emailing. Okay, yep. Take that off your plate. Yeah, thank you.
I'll cross that off now. Good.
Awesome. As
far as updating and repurposing the post, I, it's been a little bit easier for me this year, because my whole I mean, my editorial calendar or content count, everything says that I'm going to do one new post and one updated post. And then my wrap up every week. But I am touching every single one that I'm repurposing and with SEO, new pictures, a new Pinterest pin, you know, graphic and making it like it's brand new. And it's actually those updated posts are doing, like 20 to 30% more than they were before. And they're actually doing better than a new one would do. So. It's pretty. I like the strategy. I mean, sometimes, I mean, most of the time the updating takes just as long as doing a new post, actually. Yeah, but I had some really good. I mean, the stuff that you posted first was probably like, the better stuff because you wanted to get that out there. But you didn't know what you're doing.
So 100 It's a great strategy. That's awesome. But is that how is that working for three plus three posts? A week is a lot. How is how are you feeling about like, your work
countless belts when she said when she even came? Um,
do we need to take one off?
It's a lot, but I feel like that's what they expect now. Okay. So I don't know.
But Is that doable for you long term? It's
I'm tired. Hmm.
And also expectations are established by us and they can change because we cannot get into a place where our audience runs us. Or are our business is literally running us over?
Yeah, I mean, I can't get caught up. I'll do the batching but it's I'm never ahead.
Okay. Saturday,
Saturday night, like two in the morning, I go to bed, you know, because I'm trying to get that weekly wrapup done. But yeah, yeah, I just, I'm, I'm just nervous, I'm gonna leave, you know, ad revenue on the table. So I just I'm a little crazy. Because my Phil, I personally don't know how to make my affiliate affiliate marketing work for me. I just, I, I'm not making very much money at all. And so I feel like, because I'm doing that, I need to work extra hard on my blog content to make up for it in ad revenue. So that's why I'm being crazy.
Um, you saw I mean, for I had my major burnout.
Yeah.
Therapy, I do have zoom therapy every other week. So that helps. Okay,
hold on, we're gonna have a little intervention right now. All right. Off the top of my head, it sounds like you need to drop doing the new blog posts for now. And you should just do the update one. And I'm not going to tell you to drop the roundup one because I know that drives traffic, right? We know for a fact. Okay, so if we know that for a fact, and we know that the ones that you're updating are jumping 20 to 30%, then those are the two that I would do. And that new one is going to take time to get off the ground and to drive traffic. So that would be one that you could you have so much content on your website, that you don't have to have a new one every single week, you really don't know you feel like you do and that's what your audience expects. But you get to, again, you're dictating to your audience. And like, if you're feeling like they're expecting that from you, could you send out two emails a week as well, right? My
plan was, but I haven't gotten there yet. I was gonna do gardening, one on Tuesday, and then just a normal one on Oh, do a gardening one on Tuesday. And then on Sundays, I do the wrap up with my posts that I've did for the week. So right now, I'm just doing the Sunday one, but my goal in a couple weeks is to do two.
Okay. But there's no more magical time that's getting added to your day.
Yes, there is. It's called February 29. I don't know if you know about it, but it is a gift from God. And I am gonna get all caught up on that day. I mean, it's gonna be amazing. I can't wait. That's
waiting for magical hours. That is when
I'm going to be caught up on my sleep. My business, my house is going to be clean that one day. It's gonna make everything magic.
In your taxes.
Yeah, I'm working on that too. Yeah.
Okay, you know, I'm gonna be in your messages. And we're gonna be talking about this more. But I think everybody is probably, if you're asking asking the group, but you're probably not asking the group. But I'm going to ask the group for you. Because this group has turned into a freaking amazing mastermind, where we're all freaking amazing businesswoman here, here to help each other. We can all tell. And you're telling us, it's too much you're burnt out. Like we're gonna hit a wall. And we do not want you to stop blogging because your blog is amazing. And your content is freaking amazing. And we don't want you to just like, be like, it's too much, I can't do it anymore, which is what can happen. If you keep trying to go at this pace. I'm working till two o'clock in the morning. We need to prioritize sleep, and your mental health and rest, which is what I'm sure your therapist is also telling you. So from a blogging strategy standpoint, I really do think your ad revenue and everything is going to be okay. If you even if just even if you're just like just for the next three weeks. I'm not going to do a brand new blog post. I'm just going to do the update, and then your weekly roundup one.
That sounds good. Three weeks and then let's see how much I love it. Okay,
three weeks, we'll jump back in and see where you're at and how you're feeling about it.
My quarters all up level just skyrocketed after
I know I feel so stressed for you right now. Yeah, We don't want you to be the stressed.
Let us help you. I wasn't saying I was stressed. I was just telling you what I did.
You didn't have to honey. We felt it from here.
I guess the hard part is I feel like I'm doing everything right. Like, not everything, don't get me wrong, but I've I've changed so many things. And my Pinterest is slowly getting back up there. And, you know, I'm doing all the things. And I'm I'm the whole comparison thing is, is really killing me right now. I just, I'm looking at you I'm hearing this other person is doing this many views and is, you know, making this much money on ad revenues and is doing this much on influencer? Or I'm sorry, affiliate marketing. And it's, it's like, oh, my gosh, how could I do any more than this, and it's not working. Like it's working for me, I'm slowly moving up. The whole comparison thing is, is kind of getting me again, and I was doing really good for a while. But um, you know, it's my fourth year, and I was like, well, I should be this. So
don't know the full behind the scenes of what other people are doing either. Again, I was talking, I talked to Haley a lot. And it was telling her the other day, I got a text message from another entrepreneur that I'm like, subscribe to her text messages. And I'm like, I think I need to unsubscribe from her tax because she runs a podcast. And she's always having these people come on. And they're like, we just had a $70,000 launch in four weeks, this person just made 170,000 doing this. And then like, it's gotten to the point for me where it's not inspiring me anymore. It's more so like making me feel negative about like, myself and what I'm doing. And like, oh, I should be doing that I should be having these big launches and making a bigger impact and yada yada, yada. And so I was like, I think I need to, I think I need to unsubscribe from that. So yeah, Brooke said mute them off for three weeks. And the best advice somebody gave me. This was probably like four years ago, was a friend told me to put blinders on. And just how like, when a horse is running in a race, they put those blinders on their eyes. So that way, the horses are not so focused on what the other horses are doing. They're just focused on getting through that race and getting to the finish line as fast as possible. That's their goal. So they put blinders on. So they're not seeing what everybody else is doing. And she's like, that's what you need to do in your business. That means unfollowing, muting, blocking everything, and just focusing on your content and your audience. And I guarantee you if I have not, had not been like, so focused on doing that, that I would not be at this point, I wouldn't be here I wouldn't have shift like, there's just no way. And so like when other people ask me like, oh, what's going on? Like? What was it? Oh, I did some personal branding. I had somebody to do branding for myself. And I think one of her questions was like, whoever your competitors, y'all I could not tell her. I could not tell her who thrives competitors were I'm like, I don't know. That's how much like I have put blinders on to be like, where I don't even know, like, I know a couple of other like people that teach bloggers industry, a little bit that I've come across, or like I've been on their podcast, or we've switched or whatever. But like, I don't know, I'm not because I'm not worried about what they're doing. Like, I'm not paying attention to it. Because as soon as I go and look, I start to feel that way can I start to feel like they're making so much more money than me, I should be further along than I am. All of those things that you just said. Because it's like, again, you don't know what's going on behind the scenes for these other people. You have no idea how long it took them to get to where they're getting, if they're inflating their numbers, all of these different types of things. If that number is like, profit, or if it's just rep or if it's revenue, like you don't know. And so, putting blinders on muting people on following not looking if it's groups, if it's personal friends even be like, Hey, I just don't want to talk about numbers right now. And that's okay, I'm broke. Do we need to label them as competitors, though? Feel like that's the mindset. No, they're not. Because there's so much freaking room for every single one of us. Like this online space is massive. It's massive. So there is plenty plenty of room. Let's go ahead cuz
I've had to do the same thing. And like my industry, especially like with working on your home, because I was like following other content creators that do DIY projects and like, I think subconsciously, it would maybe inspire a project that I wanted to do. And the Internet can be nasty, like, oh, well, I just saw such and such do this. And I'm like, okay, like, everybody can use this green paint color sort of thing. So I learned very quickly to put blinders on. I don't watch other content creators anymore. And I just live in my bubble my zone, and it is like, the best feeling. But I also have an example to like, there was someone who was growing substantially and I'm like, how is she growing so fast? I feel like I'm doing everything that I can only to find out that she was spending $20,000 a month on Instagram ads to get that number up. $20,000 And then I thought you know what, I could do that. $20,000 not put it in Instagram. So but yeah, crap. Yeah, so I 100% agree with just getting in your lane, putting those blinders on and that's when magic starts to happen.
