don't have to listen. Alright, so we're gonna start the meeting. Yes. My name is Dwayne Pugh and I am on the leadership team of Northside green zone. I will now call the meeting to order it is 448 It looks like and ask Alice to do roll call to verify we have a presence of coulomb
Michael. Here Lesley Andrew Barr
here Andrew Gaffney Hillary Akia Georgianna.
People, six members
all right. Thank you Alice. And we will proceed with our agenda
Do we have anything to add? Or is it fine you can follow me when I do have
instructions but we have a
okay introduction.
So we can Okay, that's fine.
We have mending the wounds.
Because one season coming up. Seminar Yeah, because you can't tell your state introductions because somebody's leaving, and it's time to do it.
So Peters not going to be an official voting member.
I know that no. No to the perfect employee
on the roster, warmer
so here we go. I actually got some salad
like to place her right, so I thought I thought I don't know what the agenda is because I don't see
it you want we'll call it towards the for the future, because that's where all separate
so the origins of the pack fall into effect August 1, we still have a lot of questions about how it works. So that's like until we get more information from the clerk. We can address those
types of questions.
So Peters kind of like remember Molly from the DNR and Joe from having counties who common attenuating and will be a similar like a guest coming to be a part of Oregon
part of the agenda
that successful we can take more time for that if that's the one. That's something you'd like to do. Because
it's important that we kind of get the roles and how to do it Do you want to do that?
But today we would have to anyway especially right now because we don't have quorum so we can't vote on it anyway. So it would just be introduced by haters and if it can be well, you are visiting your business and we all know you yet so you have visited at this moment, so we'll just call as if, and we don't have quorum anyway. So yeah. All right. I don't know where we were with okay. Do you have any tables? Oh, yeah, yes. Right. So we don't um
so then I think the next one is incorrect.
Yes, because we're not doing all right. Jake. Always have such. Okay, I've got one. We only got a couple minutes maybe to give people time to get here. Did you do anything traditional and or different on referral? What's your name? And or different? Hi,
everyone. My name is Tashawna Williams I'm undocumented for builds were united communities. And I think we kept it pretty traditional over the holidays. We don't do like a traditional meal for Christmas. So we did like a seafood boil. But you know, everybody wants what they want. So ended up being like a smorgasbord of everything. So it was a fun time and I enjoyed not having snow for once in my life over Christmas.
All right. I'm Kelly Mormon. I worked in the health department. You she her pronouns. And yeah, I think the holiday was fairly traditional for me. I'd like celebrate a very secular Christmas. It's also my husband's birthday. So Christmas Eve. We did a like kind of white elephant gift swap. But basically my mother in law just sort of found things around the house and wrapped them and then we did this like weird dice rolling game to figure out who was gonna get presents and what it was actually really fun. So I think we're going to do that as
our tradition going forward.
Yes, no hodgepodge standard shaver heard. I'm a transportation planner and public work. They will be my last meeting with you all. My traditions. I didn't grow up celebrating Christmas. My husband did so we try and combine both. So we did Christmas but then also open presents and did the whole tree thing for New Year's, New Year's Eve. And speaking of birthdays, His birthday is on New Year's Eve. So yeah, we have a little bit of everything around the holidays.
Hi, my name is Peter mallet. And I think I'll start with the introduction to me and I'm finished with like what performed over the last week or so I am also transportation designers and public works. And we're both in the group that mainly moves along the street projects and things like that our departments a lot bigger than what we do on the streets. So as a representative of public works. I hope it's a great news update information about the projects we're doing, but I'm going to know a bit more about
all the other facilities but excited to learn more about my own department during the past four. I am fairly new to Minneapolis for about a year. And so it's also a way to learn more about me.
And then in particular, I also have a project that's just kicking off but it has over 10 years of history behind it called the Northside Greenway and that is a Green Street initiative from 44th Memorial Highway that I'll share more about every so I'm excited to talk about that. That project is that
the project that was on it's on my blog, so and I'm supporting so know that
it was community led idea that have all happened up through 2017 and then it's been kind of dormant for a while. So the good news is the city applied for and received. Coming after getting real finished with over the last holidays I usually visit a friend, forest fire
department I do for the holidays I went back to Chicago
and what's something that's becoming a tradition for my family is last year, my brother did not send me a Christmas list until the very last minute. So like I asked my dad if you would come up with a song dance or weird out to the outside. So I choreographed the song and we did a song. So this year we did another one. That's my mom to join us even though my doctor said the singer so we did resign and departed from my brother's family
Basically, everybody was sick. My sons and my grandson and myself and so it was postponed so people are coming in and picking up. So I made macaroni and cheese. So everybody's got containers. So coming evidently get dealt. So yeah. For the last couple of days Well traditionally I was to do something different
it's not really a tradition, but technically. We went to her and I went down to the factory into the area. Holiday with her mom and they have a tradition of eating
we, our family gets smaller and smaller every year because everybody comes over other parts of their family. But the eight of us that got together ended up being a refuge for the family across the street
lost power
we were having a potluck and we were able to feed all 14 people
and their food leftover which
is typical for our family. So it was a traditional,
non traditional
Happy New Year. Everyone and we've been here for a while. I thought about every last turn the love by the way. It's been a pretty interesting break from being here. Recall
so we started the tradition. Where because my adults live in Duluth, so we have family Christmas with the children and the grandchildren the week before Christmas. So we all can have our own individual Christmases that are on our houses, which is fine. And we always have this thing where me and my children, my adults, we seem can you stand right? But my son is a Michael. So he always wants to do spit out every part so we like okay, you can everybody everybody made a turn. So finally, after years of trying, we finally figured out which part who was going to do to spin out on and who was going and it finally worked yay. Even though he had to leave or spit it out, but of course he would that makes sense for him. And it worked. We recorded it finally and it was a lot of fun big poster but I'm going to vote what I posted was a single ended row. I did post us all of us singing into the row.
Can you give us a spin on example?
You know what it took places you know to groups when they do an extend out somebody spent on the front and everybody else did in the back?
There? What am I?
We used to we share one mic. So I found a karaoke mic and my daughter thought it would be funny this time to use the karaoke mic so she sounds really I didn't use the mic. I'm not it was enough that we did that. And how am I first sent off karaoke mic with their voices sounded different it was fun. I did not post that but I will post I found to get the videos I will post that but I posted us, all of us singing in a row. Yeah, we're boys micropiles Well, my grandbaby ended up my middle granddaughter ended up keeping the microphone Oh my, my son needs but we got a good time. It was it was a lot of fun. The family came together finally and nobody. So we talked about sagen name and a tradition on March ambition that she did over the holidays
this year we did
what's
new is we everybody brings again to play a model out. Everybody picks again you open your gift. And then you roll a dice roll double.
I played very similar game.
You get to take somebody else and retake them. It was a safe it will say Oh I think two people went back home when they get a rock Yeah.
Oh one more thing we did. So I told my kids I explained to my children and my grandchildren one day on the bat, right? Nobody wants to talk about that. But it's a reality right. So what I did was I bought all of them blankets with messengers that was personalized for them. So they'll have it when I'm not here. And I explained to them the purpose of me doing it because I didn't have that my mother my mother is sick now. I'm not saying she's gonna die, but I'm saying she's supposed to go first. That's what he's saying. Right? Not necessarily but whatever. So but I don't have anything like that that sentimental that I got from my grandmother, my mother we don't have anything like that. And I wanted something for them to have from the day who was from and so I did that for all of them and my daughter in law didn't get her blanket because she has plenty of blankets bark at our cup. So yeah. Yes, I did that for me. And I sent him and even me still being here. If you need me and I'm not there puts a blanket on you and it's like you're giving
and you will have a fabric to keep up with it all right. That was good, but it seemed like they had a good time. The other thing is that it just didn't last long.
Oh my god. So fast. I'm so upset. Priority so now we're gonna work on the weird little like
so even though we don't have quorum, and I don't know how this is gonna work out because if others come in and they'll say you might say they want to keep certain things or whatever. So how was that? How are we gonna work that because we're working on our work plan and everybody was supposed to be here for us to work on this work. plan because it's gonna be difficult for us to move forward. And we don't know what I miss it is in our priorities are and so the whole point of this meeting and the three hours was for us to have the time to finish this thing
would have said that we can cite work plans but
I don't have I don't know if that was
not your resolution that we're actually working on.
Okay, do we have that
about the green zones? Yeah,
can we start looking at that since we can't do that and maybe pull that up. So we have it included with the other room to sit out, sold the other results because that's something we had started. But since we've met the city council and they gave us that they said that we want for us to get a site within that room. That's what Robin said. When we've met remember that remember that
but that still even that is to
say that we can pull it off. Get it pulls off. Start seeing that besides our workplace because the workplace
member you work on
into to do with a split in two with that ABC. Take a look at that. And then other people members can look at it well, in that way you can go reportedly with that ordinance. What are resolution? I don't know that's just the Amaya.
I think that's the crabbing. Enabling resolution that created the green zones. And then once we get updates from the clerk's office on how we can do that and what they want. I anticipate that happening sometime this year. Because if we could do so I think we should add that to the agenda for sure. But I do think there is still value in talking through our workplace because we haven't made it so far. And I know that not everyone can attend every meeting. So we haven't had everyone present to talk about that every meeting. So I think it's up to you all the way we have been talking about so far, not everyone. So I think if we can finish this first kind of process come up with that list. Yes, we want to revisit these. These are the bee's knees. We're going to pause on I think once we have that list that's something we can distribute email voting on. But I do I should have found out
we don't have to have no, we don't
we don't want to do something as a group. They really want to just make them a champion.
Because that's what that's what we were doing anyway. Right? Because people will say, Well, I'll do that. I'll do that. So that's what we were doing anyway. So let's do it. So we left off with no we're not. No, we're not even. We are. We are actually on 5.4 Right. Yeah. 5.4 in the yellow. And that was in the back, right. Yeah, we started from the back so we're on the third page. Opposite side.
The X right
and we're going to identify the first four because they're not identified at the board doesn't mean that they're off of
the work plan for 2024.
So we still do a whole maybe no work for everybody. Is that what we were doing home maybe not think that's what we were doing because that's what I have on? There was task notes. Somebody wants to do it. Yes, maybe no. And if somebody wants to do it and we put the name. Okay, so we'll start with five. Yes, now. We're on this one, the real go red, yellow and green. 5.4 in the yellow 5.4 in the young, some absent page and the third page third page in data. Okay. Are we ready everybody out everybody on the same place? We all in the same place. All right. I'm Jayden tonight
so PowerPoint for support the City of Minneapolis study our rents stability controls. So it says August 2021 cities Council passed a resolution adopting valid language, but November 2021 election regarding record trawl rent stabilization in June 2023. The city city council did not get enough votes to put rent control on the ballot ballot in 20. In November and 2021 Minneapolis stabilization study was published by you. So I don't I don't know about that when I I would say
maybe
not. Not now.
For 24. No, I wouldn't.
St Paul has already done something about this. So much. So far ahead in Minneapolis on this Minneapolis. needs to get on the bandwagon. bandwagon. Yeah.
Really, it
might have been he was probably one of the ones who voted for it.
Yeah. So we've all put hold I mean which one okay. So that we develop a localized definition of affordability for housing. Yes, definitely. So we go say yes, because that should be kind of easy, but I'm gonna read what it says here. Anyway. Median income from North Minneapolis. Northside Green Zone is X amount of dollars or percentage of the metro area median income. The recommendation is that 85% of affordable housing and nosegrind zone be built at blank percent of area median income. So minimize displacement. I think the difference but this is is that in each neighborhood, because I've read the neighborhood's median incomes of each neighborhood median income
is different within the North Sacramento, yeah,
it is. It's much different because it will pay their median income is higher than in Jordan, and even can't fall well in Camden is much different in the Jordan and Hawthorne. So I mean, we can come up with because pretty much that's it's already done is just a camp. It's really broad. So it's based on each neighborhood. So
but one thing that's consistent is that 70% of Northside residents received some type of government assistance. Yes.
So this is that was before this shouldn't be a whole because that's where this kind of plays in with that. Having rent control with with low income people and then with the medium so I see I see it as affordability as well as rent control.
Right. But this says definition of affordability. That's what makes these two different, because we come up with a different definition of what affordability is. Affordability could mean different things to different people. But, but we can discuss that as I brought a conversation on why you know what I mean and how we can try to minimize it to make it apply to medium income people.
So it sounds like this is a yes, yeah.
All right. Five point 10 advanced proposals to pay utilities on an income based sliding scale research Philadelphia's model Yes. But now we have that. They just went up and they, they did but you can apply that. I'm just I'm just asked him. No, because they have they have if you apply for energy assistance, and then you can get on energy system and be on the GAP program. Yeah. And the program that they have in north half with solar panel thing that helps pay your bill to get to be on down to because I can say I am excited about my life. You're my Dad
No excelling version,
right that's what this is. I think they're talking about Excel directly.
The action item itself I've advanced proposals to pay utilities want to make research Philadelphia and then the progress notes are just information on Excel so far. So love sounds like Centerpoint is in the same
