And so it finally happened. There are just so many things that you've done on behalf of the people and they know that they can call you and tell you about an issue and say, Mildred, help us out and you've done that. Good morning. Once again. We had another shooting at another gas station or one burning guy didn't have no license. But I'm catching it trying to get steel trying to get the vendor life. I'm still trying to get this house next door to me who are either tore down or fixed up the backyard is terrible. They ran it cut the grass in the front but they didn't do nothing in the back. I didn't call China for I just want you guys to know I was on there before you know if this the only way I can get some understanding then I have to go to the new because you guys know I've been down here time after time with the fumes that's never been taken care of the house next door that I keep hearing that they're working on are they given tickets for? I sent pictures to my city council and of the backyard the backyard grasses over me. They got trucks back there they got roads back there. It said that we have to go to come down here time after time for the same issues over and over again and just keep hanging. We're working with him. We work with it. The vendor license is the same thing. I'm here excuse it up this stupid. Not a Grand Prix is gone when I could have made money down there. But then I heard excuses from the gentleman that called me down the hill. His name I gotta roll down. I keep hearing the same thing over and over. You know and it is like it wants to push you in the street to do not do wrong because you can't you're trying to do right and it's sad that we have to go through all this in order and pay taxes in this city for almost 70 years. And this is the thanks that I get and for voting. Come on y'all. I mean, it the same thing over and over, over and over. I keep hearing the same thing over and over. And I'm trying to figure out as a whole what is my council doing? To do that? Take care.
Thank you so much, Mr. Holloway. Mr. Shelton. Good morning.
Good morning to you all and good morning to the residents and taxpayers of this great city. You all City Council were elected to be good stewards over our tax dollars. Every time I come down here. There's another example of the disrespect for the residents. You all were put here to be good stewards over our tax dollars. You see that Detroit can be likened to a bucket with a bunch of holes in it. You see the Detroit is not poor. You see the Detroit is impoverished is being robbed. You Council are responsible for doing your due diligence. This here is a federal lawsuit. Since I keep coming down here and what I'm saying it's falling on deaf deaf ears and is being turned a blind eye has been turned to it. That's okay. But again, these contracts every time I look at the sheet with the line items pertaining to the contracts, there's ridiculous contracts these money this money is going up to outside entities when it should either be denied or be going to contractors and companies within this great city. Just another example of most glaring example again, I know I'm probably beating a dead horse. But when I go into the federal courts, I won't be beating a dead horse again. No, no this is this is a very serious matter. Anytime you have over $2 billion and then probably close to $4 billion with interest or bonds taken out on our necks and backs. Without a public notice without a public meeting. Without a right to referendum and without a vote as extremely serious. I keep up came down here numerous times asking y'all what are you going to do about it? And the only thing that I get is a nebulous unclear fuzzy answer about oh, we've already been shown that the bonds were issued illegal you haven't shown anything. But myself and Ramon Jackson have proved on May the third that those bonds were issued without the required notice.
Thank you, Mr. and Mr. Kirkwood note member Doha has joined us as well. Good morning April Robertson. Good morning.
Good morning. Again, my name is April Roberson, district seven I own a property there. I went through an application process in regards to it being on the demolish list did everything that you guys asked me pay fees, clearances that you asked may 5, the application was accepted, but still on May 26. My building was broken into my doors are broken, things were stolen. So when I contacted the department, they told me that they never received the demolish department. They never received a letter from my application being processed. So I don't understand what exactly is going on here. I don't because I did everything on my end to make sure it was taken care of. But yet I come to my building is broken. Into and the department demolished tell me that it was because the letter was not received. I was never contacted to let me know that there was any issue with my application or anything like that. So now, you guys asked me to secure the building. The building was secure and now it's not secure because my doors are damaged. So I need to find out exactly who was responsible for these items that are missing and who was responsible for my doors being damaged because they were brand new doors that I had put up to my building.
Thank you. Thank you as well. So sorry to hear that that happened to you. That's located in district seven. So I'm going to turn it over to Councilmember Hall who doesn't want to respond to you so we can try to assist you while you're here.
Thank you, Madam dua. Yep. Thank you, Madam President. Good morning to you. I'm sorry to hear that that has happened as well. That's something we're not aware of. But if you can get well my Chief of Staff Mark Payne, who was right behind you, we will definitely look into it and get more information about what has happened but we will get your answer. Try to get your answer within 24 to 48 hours. Okay. So I'm sorry that has happened. And we will follow up with demolition as well. Thank you, Madam President. All right.
Thank you so sorry about that April but we appreciate you coming down and I know member Dr. Haas team will will work with you. All right, thank you so much. Um, let's see. Black Jesus. Followed by Mabel love.
Okay, once again, I've read Mary Sheffield. You are lying when you said everything was done. According deputy apps are off another camp. You came in here and said revenue bonds required notice 2014 The city of Detroit issued a revenue bond approximately $311 million. There was no notice given no instruction was given to the clerk to publish a public notice. And anyway, it Detroit legal news is not the proper form. It's not a paper of general circulation. It's a paper for lawyers. So when you said everything was done accordingly, evidently Jeffrey S. arnoff. Did not know about the revenue bond. Now, when it comes to the refunding bond in 2018, there was no notice for public hearing gearing for that bond. My calculation now is 2.8 4 billion in bonds and only 260 million notice to the public. Here in the city of Detroit, papi caulk, Google, Google and LPD L the Detroit legal nose is not the proper form seven newsstands. But 500,000 registered voters is inadequate. And you're having rejected that report stating that it is proper and y'all know some BS now constantly do haha I just heard what April said. April came down here today because yesterday I went to her building I looked at it I started damage. So I'm going to hold you to that word 48 hours. She needs to be compensated for everything has been done to our building and the materials that were still out of the building. So he's in the process of rehabbing that building. And somebody wants that corner lot Oh Grand River, and my investigation now leads to BC building safety and engineering and a guy named Lukas McGrail formally position held by Arthur edge. Now what I'm finding is that this land grab is going on continuously and happening to everybody. Thank you.
Thank you. All right, Miss Love. Good morning. Good morning. Just make sure your your microphone on press. There you go.
So my now Yeah. Okay. Then why I just want to say that I'm glad to be back. I'm officially back to the city of Detroit. I've been traveling cross country and we're working on different programs. And I'm here to say I just want to work I just want to see what we can do to improve our city. Somebody I'm glad to say Sheffield and call money I thought that I knew before I left and the new people there and thanks for serving. And my mission is like I said, is more to change hearts and is to change the laws because I do believe that hope never quits. And we're doing some things for the summer camp with the library, different programs, whatever I can do to help make my city better and help serve. I'm here for that. I'm just to say I'm back here and I'm glad to be back home.
Thank you. We're glad to have you Miss Love. Welcome back and looking forward to working with you. Thanks for coming down. We appreciate you. And DECA mommy
Oh, are you already Council? President? Yes. Um, thank you, counsel. I'm coming down. On a lighter note. I have a financial freedom festival that I will be throwing on June 24. In recognition of June teeth, an opportunity for Detroit citizens to come out and speak with financial professionals about any subject matter that they can think of estate planning mortgages, stocks crypto. It will be at the open door Church of God and Christ in District Three off of Hoover, and seven mile. It is a free event. It is free to all people that are attending is free for all financial professionals that are attending. You just sign up on Eventbrite again. That's June 24. I think is a great opportunity. I am well let me tell by myself, I am a CPA in the city of Detroit. I have been working with small businesses throughout the pandemic. And what I've noticed is that it's kind of difficult to kind of build this team because only people can are limited to such skill sets. So to have opportunity to talk to a lawyer or talk to life insurance person a professional will give people a lot opportunity and I think it will also help people with their confidence and having a plan on how to handle their money and how they can invest in the city as well.
Thank you. Thank you and DECA we appreciate the work that you're doing to Detroit if you can send that to us. You have a digital version of your flyer.
Yes I
do. I can send that to the council and I believe that guy's got a folder.
Perfect and we'll make sure we get it out to support you so much. Keep up the good work. Thank you. Anthony Lloyd Lloyd Jr.
Good morning. Morning to the Troy City Council. My name is Anthony William Lloyd Jr. independent researcher story in a family genealogists as a native born Detroiter for 30 years resident of the district one I attended and spoke at the Detroit reparations taskforce meeting on Saturday at the Northwest Campus of Wayne County Community College. I'm here to express my concerns regarding the general confusion of agendas, lack of community engagement. And the unprofessional moderation of the Zoom meeting that occurred as well. My understanding that 350,000 has not yet been allocated, the baby steps that are being taken should also be transparent in regard to the Study of Slavery specifically to black Americans in Detroit. The current structure of the subcommittee's could be detrimental to the process of studying the lineage of those directly affected by the wrongs inflicting hardships, simply unfair causes of distress and improper treatments. Referring back to the chattel slavery era 1619 to 1865. I've emailed multiple grievances to members of the City Council and the task force as I have been willing to participate in all historical research efforts regarding the Detroit reparations Task Force. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you so much for sharing that and I know that the rapid reparations Task Force is learning how to move forward this is the first city ballot initiated task force so there's a lot of moving pieces to get it up and running the proper way. I know that it was bombed or hurt. Unfortunately, via zoom, that does happen sometimes. So moving forward, we're going to change it to a webinar so that that won't happen again. But continue to voice your concerns or your opinions. To us and also to the board as well as they are their own entity and are operating outside of city council. But we would love to take your information back to them as well. Okay, thank you, and we'll keep you posted. Thanks for coming down. And Mr. Carmack.
Good morning Council morning. Slavery is a serious thing. Slavery is now in 2023. To put his shackles on people that go to jail, they shouldn't go to jail. How there's that poison their skin boys in their body, give them cancer. Nobody's doing anything about it. Most of them are black and brown color. They did it meet for two and a half years. But I could take any situation is that you have a government that is running corruptly. This man has propped fosse charged on me. I mean, the state attorney general Dana, Nate Nestle's office tomorrow to put this guy in jail. Counsel, you don't want to subpoena him. You don't want to subpoena the records and check it. I'm going to civil lawsuit right now where they sued a company they even valid. This is a Detroit law department that has 150 attorneys, and they don't know that the LLC is voided. They don't know that Robert Carmack personally didn't get a deed in the mail. They have no witnesses, no documents, and everybody wants to look down and don't want to look up and do anything. Is this guy intimidate you just quit and don't be are no more. And let me tell you some weird your dad get a Bentley at $200,000 Bentley? I think yourself. I need to think you need to step down from Council and then got a big church in the Bahamas. Run some marijuana money through. Now. Where do you get $200,000 that took the car back at her word was going to the street that he had won your compromise. You need to step down from chairmanship they need to vote you out and move down in line and try to get someone that's going to do something for the people in Detroit. A nobody helping nobody here. The same people keep coming here. Week after week, day after day. What have you done for you say we'll help you but guess what you never help it keep coming back. Thank you so much. I
will now turn to our virtual callers who have joined us virtually and how many callers do we have this morning?
Good morning, Madam President. We have 14 callers who raise their hand before you would cut off public comment. Okay, first caller is Marguerite Maddox. Scarlett.
All right. Good morning, Mr. Mehta. Miss Maddox.

all right. Thank you so much Miss Maddox.
The next caller is Stephen hollering
can be heard?
Yes. Okay. Good morning.
So week after week, a man from what Haven has never lived in Detroit calm spreading conspiracies attacking our council and mayor but that's karmic, truly brass our city's real pressing issues, which lies in gun violence are failing transit system and schools not our mayor. I recently spring the gun violence awareness ceremony and it was beautiful, great performances, everything but we need concrete action like a statewide ban on assault rifles and power for cities to establish gun free zones. I don't really tell people this but one of my interns was a frat brother with one of the MS huge shooting victims and one of my graphic designers has a friend still in a coma from the MSU shooting instead of in that scene and all these gadgets, what's the advocate more DPD and save funds to community policing it's Rubin effective in New Jersey and mental health should also be a top priority. You know, these Republicans these racist Republicans in Lansing they think oh, mental health is the issue not gun violence but they don't even want to fund mental health. In know, they think they're small rural towns mean, don't go through these issues. Regarding transit, we're actively seeking a higher public transit budget from the state it's vital that this Administration uses these funds wisely. We must prioritize raising minimum driver pay to 25 per hour and extending routes but some boy diverting funds to I mean these pointless programs like that DPP low income there are electric buses. I mean, they don't meet the needs at this time.
All right, thank you so much, Mr. Hari.
The next caller is to hear a mod
Good morning Council I have to disgraceful racism blue smoke and mirrors PowerPoint the Emperor gave at mechana island you are in abling him by not passing the property tax reform ordinance. He looted us out of a billion dollars and 1000s of homes and offered a proposal to discount illegal taxes and illegal foreclosures he offered a discount on raggedy land bank houses he stole from other homeowners. You need to tell the emperor he has no clothes they ever is the reverse robbing. robbing the poor and give it to the rich and making us poor that because we weren't pro a first pass the property tax reform ordinance and be the spiritual people you profess to be from his attempt. The Emperor's attempt to cover up malice brings murder to the destruction of our school system demolition. Gate, make your gate dim DMC gate. They are honorable Coleman a young senior partner with Charles H. Wright museum to Charles he tried to build the museum the Charles H. Wright Museum, the Emperor Coleman son, Scott Benson has destroyed the integrity, the integrity of the useful and the usefulness of the museum African World Festival was a three day festival known worldwide now it's a one day concert, and Bangladesh has three days. Kwanzaa was a seven day celebration now is one day in a giant candle. Fire Neil Berkeley and the Emperor and the FBI finish your investigation on a Scott Benson and read us up his criminal actions. We need you to not act like he's Gabe leighlin allow him to keep voting on contracts and marry Sheffield. We have other people, other denominations and other spiritual people who can do a prayer for a community because at this point these prayers aren't helping us.
All right, thank you and all denominations are welcome to bring invocation we have submitted a memorandum to all Council offices to submit any clergy within their districts. They would like to come to a formal session and we're going through the list so we will get to everyone to have an opportunity to bring the invocation for our formal session. All right, thank you so much. We can go to our next public comment.
The next caller is William M. Davis.
Good morning City Council can I be heard Yes, you can. I like to start off by reminding everyone there that July 18 to be the 10th anniversary of the Fallen Detroit bankruptcy. In that time, the city has gone really downhill as relates especially to City Truck retirees and black people in general. You know, during that time, we have seen a downward spiral of the population of the city of Detroit. When I current man was running and got into office. He said judge him on whether or not he could bring up the population. Well, you know some of the initiatives may have been beneficial for some, but it's been very detrimental to many of us. You know, he got a waiver that how did you sponsor was supposed to keep people in their homes. keep people in their homes, but he got a waiver so that that money could go towards tearing down homes. And that's a that's a mixed message there. But the city of Detroit for decades was the largest majority black city population wise percentage wise in the country for decades. But yet in the last 10 years, that does change. Just recently, Memphis, Tennessee has become the largest minority city in the country. I think it's because some of these policies are things because the total lack of respect for Sydney trade retirees, I think it was close. A blind eyes turned when Middle Eastern merchants killed black people. You know how to talk how do we continue to have unlicensed gas stations. How do we continue to have gas station selling Lucy's How do we continue to have all sorts of crime happening throughout the city of Detroit? It's almost as if our man is just the mayor of downtown Detroit and only cares about knee ins and BNS Have a good day but remember, we're gonna be looking at Thanks Thank you.
All right. Thank you, Mr. Davis.
The next caller is phone number ending in 735.
Can you hear me?
Yes, we can. Good morning.
Good morning Council. President Sheffield. I have two points to make. How long is it going to be that you allow DDOT to abuse those that are disabled allowing their guards on video to use profanity and those that are mentally challenged. Put up chairs to block wheelchair bound remove the handles that supposed to open the doors for those that are wheelchair bound and do nothing about it. How long will you continue to allow DDOT to keep people working that have murdered people? You have a driver that murdered somebody in 2015 and then Janice Bowers, as of last week, Friday. Now I've known Janice Bowers over 20 years since I was in my youth at 19 years of age. This is deplorable. It is constantly left nasty and filthy. Second question, how long before you start making Building and Safety be held accountable when they refuse to make these landlords keep their buildings up from having nasty, filthy carpet to deplorable living conditions? And why is it that housing revitalization that gives funding for these housing agencies putting you in dangerous conditions? Why are they not held accountable? Can you answer that for me? Council President shirt for you?
Yes, ma'am. Yes, Miss che I'll let you finish you have 20 seconds left before I respond.
So I would like to see this. I shouldn't have to keep asking why housing and revitalization is not being held accountable. I've sent videos my cousin has sent videos and nothing is being done. I like for you to answer. I appreciate your time. All right.
Thank you so much, Michelle. I do know that the unfortunate situation that took place with the bus driver is under investigation at this time. And I won't go into detail because I know that that is an ongoing active investigation. So as it relates to any treatment of the elderly or disabled. We do take that serious and so if there is a specific person, a staff member or a situation that you are speaking of, please get that information over to us so that we can report that to the appropriate people within DDOT. So to just generalize and just state that this situation happened may not be as helpful unless you know of a specific time a person or when that particular situation took place that is more helpful so that we can get that information over to the appropriate people as relates to be seed. I just got a text that someone from my office spoke with you this morning Miss Shay regarding the whatever property you're inquiring about, and so we will make sure that we get it over to be seen and make sure that they respond to your concerns. Also, Michelle, I do know that our office along with several other offices has been going back and forth with you I know councilmember Santiago and Mira have has sent over actually a memo response from HRD responding to several of your concerns. So we are here to work with you Miss Shay and continue to reach out as much as you would like. We appreciate you and we can go to our next caller please
the next caller is Joyce e Jennings.
Good morning, everyone. I am on today to ask that there be a special investigation into district three there is activity that's occurring with inspectors that have been brought on as contractors who are harassing the businesses in District Three, charging them or making them pay for assessments for inspections that they have already paid for or inspections that have already occurred within the last two years. One of our business stakeholders knocker collision which has been located on VanDyke for 47 years. I spoke with the owner on last week as we listen to the Mackinac conference. And he is very pissed off at the fact that we have businesses. Johnny Come Lately people to the city of Detroit, who are being given tax abatements as well as exemptions from the rainwater drainage fee. And businesses and residents in the city of Detroit who have been here who have hung in are not being given the same considerations and that activity of city employees who were inspectors being laid off or their positions ended in these contractors who are being brought in to harass the businesses it needs to stop. And lastly, I would like to say if our relationship with our Creator means anything I don't see how any person on city council, any person who serves as the mayor can come to this these tables every week and be pleased with the lack of upliftment in the city. of Detroit. Let's do better as a people.
Right Thank you
the next caller is Cunningham.
Good morning Mr. Cunningham.
Got 31344491143134449114313444911 for I need you to listen to that. Voicemail on that line. 313-444-9114 again 313-444-9114 On Facebook, forest subservience Cunningham, search forest subservience, Cunningham, it the People section and the magnifying glass that allows you to search again this anonymous to call and listen anonymous to go on Facebook. I am in dire need of a van or pair of a van. I do a lot of good work. It's good ground here. It's good ground. Good soil. I do good work and honor the higher power but everybody needs help sometimes. The men of you are the most powerful, or a peon like myself. Everybody needs help sometimes. And so I want to continue to give out bus tickets and give out the flyers and information about Detroit department transportation which is horrible and horrible conditions. And I I think it's WTI B but I've done the interview and I was displeased with the reasons given to city council. And the bus service is still deplorable, with no sense of urgency was the key words I said, no sense of urgency. They open up the police contract but they're going to wait to the contract is up with DDOT and they're losing drivers as we speak. And they're down to 120 drivers. That's extreme and urgent. Do you care City Council? Do you care? Where's the urgency?
Do you care?
Do you care? Where's the urgency?
All right, thank you Mr. Cunningham.
The next caller is Patty Fetullah.
I counsel Thank you very much for your presence today. The first thing I want to do is just thank you for your help and getting the resolution regarding DDOT service improvements. I want to thank your staff so I just want to thank you for considering it. And I'm asking you to vote for it and pass it today. What this resolution will do first and foremost is let the mayor's office know that we expect the data to improve and here's some ways that they can start to improve and it actually puts a little bit of teeth and a little bit of message behind just sort of foggy budget predictions into wanting actual improvement on the street. That's number one. Secondly, it provides a method for keeping track of it and keeping eye DEA that having DDOT come to city council and keep City Council in the loop so you know where things are. And one of the biggest issues we're having right now it's just been mentioned is paying drivers and we just don't pay enough $14 an hour it just doesn't cut it right now and we are losing drivers. And right now we are asking the mayor to you know, vastly increase the amount that drivers are being paid. And we're asking them to get a contract the drivers for right now. They're waiting for smart, but we don't have to wait. We can start paying our drivers more now. Get more moving faster. I mean, that's kind of the whole point of transit. So I please I'm asking you to pass the resolution and in your on the record and off the record discussions with the mayor's office. Please keep bringing up transit and tell them we need a contract now. Whatever smart is doing is whatever smart is doing. We don't have to wait for them to arrange a contract with their drivers. We can start paying our drivers 30 An hour and move stuff on faster. Right. But thank you and I ask for your support and support at the resolution. Thank you so much. All right, thank you.
The next caller is Kelly J
Hi, Good morning, Miss Kelly J
the morning. Um, I was just calling as a concerned citizen we did a great job at getting businesses here in Detroit and bringing people back here. I just believe that now it's time for us to shift the focus to beautification in education. And from what I'm hearing from the local residents and my citizens here too. Is that um, the city's not clean. Like we have abandoned homes. We need to figure out who owned these homes and clean them up. They're not cleaning up the backyard. They're not cleaning up the front yard. And then we need to figure out about like my concern about education um, the schools these abandoned schools that we don't have open they come and cut the grass but whose like, they need we whacking and they they need to be filled honestly. So I think we need to focus on education. And then I'm just cleaning up the city because from what I'm hearing, you know, we're not taking care of the citizens and looking out for their best interest on what's going on. There's abandoned cars that's just sitting around and if the police was policing, how aren't they noticing that this car been sitting here for two weeks and haven't moved? After two days? That's an abandoned car. So that needs to be corrected on waste management as well. Like I said, we need to clean up the city. Whoever runs the garbage, they're not picking up the bulk. They're not ticketing it. They're not telling you why they're not picking up your boat. So communications I guess let's add that on. We need to do communications and my last concern is what's going on with the libraries because my local library to harbor branches closed, I called and asked about it, and they're still telling me, you know, it's an H vac system problem. That should have been resolved in February, but here it is. It's been closed since the pandemic. So that's all I have to say I reserved the rest of my time.
Thank you. And thank you for taking the time to call in. I know you said you were a concerned citizen, and we appreciate you voicing your concerns and using your voice. If you can call the office, I would love to just connect with you and see what district you're in. If you're not in district five, we'll connect you to your council member as well just to see how we can address some of the issues that you just raised and see how we can make sure that you get involved. It seems like you want to be active and advocate for some things in your community. So we appreciate that. The number is 31322445053132244505. And again, if you're not in district five, we will connect you with your city council member as well. Thank you for calling. All right, our next caller
next caller is Miko a Williams.
Okay. Yes. Good morning. Council cannot be heard, please.
Yes, you can.
Yes. Hi. Good morning. I'm very concerned about the 40 water main breaks that happened over the weekend. We really need to fix that situation. There's low water pressure for those residents and they're not able to get water. I've been called about it all last weekend. We're off. Hydrate Detroit is off during the weekend, but we don't have any water deliver at this time. It's really important that we need to service those residents that have called Shout out to Mildred Gaddis and Mabel love to have the best women in the city of Detroit. They are very positive in their efforts to keep the city informed as such. I also want to address the gas station shooting you know this is very shameful chief white, the stage a false press conference and then you know the business gets ransacked by to ski masks, man, this is unacceptable. That guy has to go we need to some in demand of BC I thought cops had a list of gas stations that they usually check. It's becoming a concern. Also the cleanliness of the city. If you look at some of these other districts, what are your district managers doing and keeping the city clean in certain parts in areas you have abandoned trash and fields? I like what the last caller just said. Because it's very true. You might find dead people and abandoned cars and don't even know about it. If this was sitting there for two days or more. That needs to be fixed. And Council. i Please urge if you have democracy, the mayor was up here dancing and showboating in front of the white power structure about this tax deal and Angela Whitfield Callaway should not be supporting a tax deal. If it has not come in front of residents in the general body. Have you all he just went again and disrespected you all right in front of the white power structure of Michigan and yet you have no idea about it. I bet the cocaine champagne and orange cheese was all that this weekend. But what did you are doing this?
Right Thank you so much.
The next caller is phone number ending in 534.
Caller 534 Good morning.
Yes. Hello, Mandy. Hurry. Yes, ma'am. Yeah, you know, I find it extremely cool that you would have someone like Pastor Harold Caldwell come on and talk about treating people with the quality and dignity in any he says expel every ignoble impulse. yet. No, here we are. There's no sense of urgency about the buses. There's no sense of urgency about opening the libraries or the rec centers. Marry Sheffield, there's that controversial development that is on the agenda for Thursday. It took you over close to two years to sit down and meet with the impact residents we didn't have even anybody there. So anyone who votes for this, you are violating for your oath of your oath of office to treat people equally. It has caused so much harm and mental distress in this neighborhood. Like really, I don't understand how people sleep with themselves at night. Or you just don't care. You're just don't care. And so Northen landing needs to stop the they finally did a planning study the community engagement has been disastrous it's like they think only people are in social media. And it's been an enormous waste of time. And it's like Mary Sheffield, you don't care. Now, you know I'm open to redemption but you need to slow this down and show us you truly care and that you will live up to your oath of office instead of get up there and pretend like you care about everybody, but you don't really because you were favoring some dishonest developers and Yes, they've been dishonest and I have the receipts because they said they weren't going to ask for tax breaks in the first place. And then they don't even give a CRA P about the people who live right there. That's
right thank you so much miss work
the next next caller is Renard Minh Shumsky
Good morning can I be heard?
Yes, you can. Good morning.
Morning, Madam President and members of council and the public. I name is Renard miszewski. I'm the organizer with Detroit people's platform and organizer of transit justice team. I'm calling in regards to the way the new wages that have been offered by DDOT to drivers. I honestly I'm trying to wonder what year it is that they're offering these wages from $15 up to $19 an hour for new drivers coming in is it's I know it's a complicated process between you know, this body, the administration and the Union. I get that, but I don't see the intention behind these wages because these are 2017 wages. These are 2015 wages. There is no way to somebody driving a 60 foot or 40 foot coach can sit there and earn less than $20 An hour dealing with not just driving a coach but you're collecting revenue, you're maintaining safety of the passengers while they're driving. You're dealing with a electrical equipment that is complex and has to have training along with a special license as well. But it's like you're treating these drivers like it's McDonald's wage and this is a pattern of the administration altogether. And while I'm on the topic of the administration, as well not this is not the city council that I'm impugning. How is it that in the city of Detroit, illegal businesses without certification or any license are able to operate in the city period, not just gas stations? How does that say to our safety when it comes to selling like for example, gasoline, a federally and state regulated product right an explosive product at that, that is serious? Where's the seat at unless they're sleeping in their office so we're not doing their job? Seriously, how our residents being put in danger every single day, when that's not possible in the city boundaries outside of Detroit. Why did we get a substandard service on anything because we're Detroit.
Thank you. All right.
Thank you, Renard.
The last caller who raised their hand before you cut off public comment is Carol Hughes.
Good morning to the council through the president. Chair. May I speak? Yes, ma'am. Yes. I looked at the agenda. The agenda seems to be loaded with certain prior council members wants and I don't know I don't think there needs I think they're her wants, but I want to I want to call your attention to seven that one who's you've moved on a new firewall using opera dollars. Eight that 10 is do it again asking for more opera dollars. And then we have at 11 I question. What parcels are vacant for this Joe Lewis walkway. Since that 10 dot 16. You have $5.7 million that have been since 2021. And now you're going to re assign $5.7 million to the same organization, staffing solutions, can you can you tell me some numbers on how they have decreased the number of unemployed people in the city especially ADOS black people in the city can can they come with some numbers before we give out 5.7 million and the travesty is that this is federal funds that came to us in 2021. And now they're going to extend it out to some other date. Much of the things on your agenda don't have start and end dates on them. And any contract has a start date and an end date and if you look at your agenda, there are a lot of those that are on there. That do not have start and end dates. 10 dot 27 Is the travesty of all times. This is the city that had over 11,000 rape kits that had not been counted or checked or tested. Now you want to let people who don't have a license to operate in the city. Shoot people lock people in stores and you don't call the fire department down and say this is a fire hazard. It needs to end right now. What you do is is put everything on your agenda except what is pertinent to the people in the city of Detroit. And we are tired of seeing that. Thank you.
Great thank you Miss Hewes in the line items that you did mention are all referrals. So those would not be taken up today. They will be referred to a committee for further discussion. All right, was that our last public? Okay, that was our last caller ID so we will now conclude our public comment for this morning and proceed to our agenda. Understood standing committee reports for the internal operations standing committee from the Office of contracting and procurement.
Madam President, there is one contract up for vote today for internal raishin standing committee is contract number 6003603. A one one 2%. City funding amendment number one, to provide an extension of time and an increase of funds for promotional slashing and to extend the spending authority into the office of contracting and procurement contractor is corporate specialties LLC. total contract amount $71,662.48. And this contract is for human resources. Councilmember Johnson a resolution line item 16.1.
Council member Johnson.
Thank you, Madam President Move for approval.
All right, motion has been made. Are there any objections to 16.1? Hearing none, the one resolution will be approved. And from the law department
councilmember Johnson two resolutions, line items 16.2 and 16.3.
Awesome member Johnson.
Thank you, Madam President Move for approval on line item 16.2 and 16.3. These are DDOT lawsuit settlements.
motion has been made. Hearing no objections to the two resolutions. Those will be approved. For the Planning and Economic Development standing committee from the City Planning Commission,
council president potentate a resolution I'm sorry an introduction of an ordinance and line item 17.10 Tim T.
President move that the ordinance be read twice by title order printed and laid on the table.
Hearing no objections that action will be taken from the City Planning Commission.
Council President Pro Tem Tate a resolution setting a public hearing line item 17.2.
Pro Tem tape
and President move to set the public hearing for Thursday June 29 2023.
And if we can just say Pro Tem with this, the public hearings for regarding the amendments to the marijuana spacing so that the general public knows no I
would prefer a CPC because these are their recommendations that are coming through.
Mr. Todd Are you on? Oh hey, you're here. Hey. Good morning.
Good morning, Madam President. Good morning to you as members of this honorable body through you in response to President Pro Tem Tate's request. In short, the ordinance that is before your honorable body will provide first and foremost for an adjustment in the spacing requirements between marijuana establishments and controlled uses from the current 1000 feet to 750 feet. It will then also make adjustments to the allowances for your micro businesses and consumption establishments altering those spacing requirements in order that they can exist in closer proximity to other marijuana uses in order for those particular two business types to actually have an opportunity to operate successfully. As we are understanding from across the state. We are at we have only seen a couple consumption establishments open and micro businesses are also having trouble getting off the ground. So we're making adjustments again in order for those two business models to be more viable. We're also making other corrections or adjustments in light of other concerns that have been presented either from Health Department law or Rio. Again in order to improve
the the
likelihood of these establishments being able to open and operate successfully while also still providing the necessary protections to the general public in short. Thank you.
Thank you, Mr. President. And Mr. Todd if you can just kind of talk briefly. I know that in addition to the CPC recommendations, there has also been recommendations that have been provided by members of this body as well. You can talk a little bit about the process on how that will take place in terms of incorporating those requests, suggestions. Into the public hearing process. Thank you.
Certainly, again, through you, madam president to the president pro tem. We have received and have participated in discussions with various members of the council and their staff in presenting these items. And we understand that there are desires to make further adjustments to spacing requirements and not just from the proposed controlled uses, but also possibly to the drug free zone as well as the spacing requirements that exist between religious institutions, possibly again reducing them from the current 1000 feet to a smaller number. There's also specific desire to ensure either through the method I just mentioned, by reducing existing spacing requirements, or by making exemptions to certain areas in the city and creating specific regulations for those areas. Those areas being Eastern Market and downtown. The nature of these items as we have as as they have been discussed with us and the law department would all appear to fall within the purview of the ordinance is currently drafted the summary and would therefore be eligible to be addressed at the time of the public hearing, wherein those items can be specifically discussed debated and appropriate language brought forward. And I'm sorry and one other specific item that would also be included when it comes to the Eastern Market would be the addition of marijuana uses to the MKT zoning district newly created by your honorable body last year.
Thank you and Mr. Todd just currently with the proposed zoning amendments, do you know roughly how many additional properties will come online now or be available for additional dispensaries or uses?
Certainly, madam president, if you will allow we're most sensitive as to how this particular matter is being perceived. And we want to make sure that we're clear first and foremost, we've been doing very heavy lifting in order to ensure that the data we're working with is as accurate and up to date as possible. It changes seemingly weekly, because we are in a dynamic circumstance with that said, we believe that with the control uses that we with this adjustment as proposed with control uses. That would increase us by roughly 295 properties, if I recall correctly. We do have a table I apologize. I don't have I didn't open up my laptop. But we are able to increase the number of parcels that would be eligible for consideration. This does not mean that that would result in those additional establishments in that number. We're talking about parcels that would become a they would be potentially available because they would meet the spacing they would meet the zone requirements. Some of those parcels however we recognize are quite small and are not buildable they might have to be assembled with other parcels in order to make them work. But the key point that we are working through with our analysis and all of our presentations is that in addition to those establishments that are marijuana establishments have to be spaced from there's also spacing requirements from the marijuana establishments. So each time any of those buffer items changes or anytime we add a marijuana use that cast an additional shadow further reducing the number of properties or the area where in such establishments can locate.
Okay, thank you. That's hope I just wanted people to understand. You know how many eligible properties will be available based on the proposed amendments? You were gonna say something?
Yes. Was that thank you very quickly. Ultimately, of course it is the licensing ordinance that controls indicating that at present, we're looking at 130 such establishments. What we are again, I say this cautiously don't want to miss understand. We are looking at the zoning regulations and seeing a challenge and even being able to come close to that number based upon what the current rigs stipulate. This is why we're looking for ways to try to create more opportunity but again, still safeguarding the public and addressing concerns for sure.
Thank you. Yep, I see a couple of hands. We'll go to Councilmember Yang.
Thank you, ma'am. Thank you, Mr. Todd. I talked to you about this earlier. So I appreciate the presentation that I received. I just want to ask you, you were talking about the changes can be made in committee. He changes the also made outside of committee when it comes to formal sector as well via the amendment process or is that something that would be best done in the committee process itself?
Through the Chair again, I will yield ultimately to law department in terms of what can additionally take place, say at the formal session, but certainly it is the best time for the benefit of the public and the process and generally that can take place in committee in and around the public hearing. So that all may benefit of the proposed discussion of the proposed amendments and a discussion around
through the chair Graham Anderson law department, Councilmember young, are we talking subsequent changes or are we just looking for minor tweaks? That was something we can talk with your team outside of this? We can get more into the nitty gritty details if they would actually affect the ordinance in itself. But what we can have those conversations offline, but just hypothetical,
if this was something that's gonna be subject to changes, would that be best in the committee process? Or would they be best
that would probably be best in the committee process? Yes. Okay. That's it. Thank you.
Thank you. And before I move to member Benson, I know we did submit something regarding Eastern Market in the central business district with that you mentioned MKT would it be another amendment to that particular ordinance as well too, that we approved here at the council. So with two separate amendments
Yes. To you, Madam Chair. The amendments. Technically speaking, the amendments may result in multiple revisions, if you will, to that ordinance, but in terms of what you're trying to achieve, again, as we understand it, the downtown, the current allowance in the various zoning districts that comprise downtown which would allow for marijuana establishments. In the case of Eastern Market again, the MKT was newly established, so that's the one where additions would have to be made to that district in order to allow for marijuana uses and otherwise we'd be talking again, just about addressing spacing requirements, or the spacing scheme city wide in order to allow for opportunities in those two areas or any other specific area.
Thank you. Councilmember Benson.
Thank you. Does the proposed ordinance changes as recommended by CPC, those addressed the over concentration of marijuana uses within the northeast side or district
the chair to member Benson they do not specifically look to address over concentration in any area. In that what we are seeing is, again, as I mentioned earlier, the shadows that are cast by existing marijuana establishments as well as the uses from which they have to be buffered seems to provide for some further limitation as to what can take place in certain areas. The scheme that we put in place back in third 2013 In order to respond to the need and the demand for medical marijuana is generally the same scheme that we've been operating under a city wide scheme addressing allowance for these uses in certain districts and then again, the requisite spacing requirements. What went when the issue of overconcentration came up? We did not see it the same as we would in a situation where with what we typically do with, for example, with party stores. If two party stores are within 1000 feet of each other, there is a provision in the zoning ordinance that allows the planning and development department to approve any additional which would as defined B and overconcentration. We do not have a defined overconcentration for this particular use. We have a single scheme, so we're not able if you will to apply the same concept here as we have there, because we've not defined overconcentration for these uses. But what we are trying to do, again by virtue of implementing a city wide scheme is to ensure that city wide it's the same pattern. Yes, that does mean that in certain areas of the city where you may have a greater preponderance of industrial zoned land, or again, those the zoning districts where in these uses are allowed. There is the potential for more to occur, but they will not occur at any greater density. Because city wide we have a single spacing requirement.
Okay. It sounds like based on the current zoning within the northeast side, third district that we will continue to see in overconcentration if you don't like that term than a proliferation. Marijuana use the third district based on what we have currently and what is proposed.
I would again want to be cautious certainly in how I respond. In that we are again continuing to try to do analysis and make some projections in order to provide you this member members of this honorable body and the public with some sort of comfort, if you will, or some understanding of what expectations they might reasonably have. But certainly in those areas where we also already have a corporation appreciate the use of that term that will actually have the effect given the availability of eligible land and actually reducing potentially the opportunity for anything more to locate there because of what already exists.
But based on our existing proliferation we may be spared additional ones based on our but we don't save overconcentration with proliferation in the third district. I appreciate you for that. Thank you for sparing us any additional deliberation
we will do our best again through madam president's chair to try to provide the most accurate projections, again in order to respond to the various interest and concerns of your honorable body. Thank you.
All right, any additional questions concerns? All right, hearing none potentate. Did you move the public hearing for next Thursday? Yes.

just want to better understand the purpose of of this. If someone could explain it, please.
Okay, Mr. Washington.
I know but moving on. We can have
someone come on for 17.9 This is regarding the Detroit City Airport requesting authorization to acquire 17 100 VanDyke it's
my apologies. Good morning, Madam Chair and Council. We do have bed for comments online.
Okay. We will move her over now.
Morning
Good Morning. All right. If you could just give us an overview of 17.9 Regarding the transfer of property for Detroit City Airport.
Yes. I'd be happy to my name is Beth Cummins Armitage with the city of Detroit Mayor's office. I've been helping the City Airport director Jason a lot with this action. And I see Mr. Gerlach has joined as well. The City of Detroit airport has been required by the FAA to install some safety measures at the end of the runway, which extends into what used to be McNichols road. McNichols road back when this was created was not vacated. And FAA requires that the City Airport own this land the land it because the street was not vacated. It's currently owned by the city of Detroit. Last summer, we went through the formal vacation process. And what happened is that one portion of that road then became City airport property and the northern portion became Milan all of it cemetery property as that's just the way it goes when you do a vacation. And so now, the City Airport needs to complete the action by purchasing that portion of the road and this action here before you will accomplish that and that will allow the airport to install their safety measures and comply with FAA rules and regulations. Thank you. Member waters.
Thank you. I just also want to clarify whether or not anybody's will have to be removed
through the chair or through the president to council member waters. No, there will be no actual change to the physical landscape. This is primarily an action that's happening on the plat maps. Right now the land between the city Airport and the cemetery has a fence and you can see which on the south side of the fence. It's airport activity and on the north side of the fence is cemetery activity. You will not see any change on the physical land. It's really just on paper what's happening here. So the airport will not be growing in the physical space and we will not be impacting any land on the other side of the fence by the airport. It will not impact any of the deceased who are resting there.
All right. Thank you Madam President.
All right. Thank you member waters.
Let me move on. Yes. Okay. I approached Tim has already moved this for approval. Hearing no objections on 17.9. Our amended Fire Department contracts with the funding source of 100% city funding line on 18 point 16 is a health department contract with a funding source of 100% grant funding line item 18 point 17 is an amended police contract with 100% city funding and line items 18 point 18 and 18 point 19. Our public works department contracts with 100% metro funding public at 48 2000 to five councilmember Santiago Ramirez 16 resolutions line items 18.4 through 18 point 19.
Council Member Santiago Ramiro
Thank you Madam President, I motion to approve line items 18.4 through 18 point 19
If we can just move for discussion really quick please. Thank you so much and go to the sidewalk repair contracts. If there is some one on one from the istration mr. Washington.
Yes, Madam Chair. We do have director brandy of XhoI.
All right, Mr. Brundage can come over we please. What line item is
at once I see 1818 in
the morning Madam Chair.
Good morning director. Brenda, how are you? Good. Thank you. Good. If you could just give a quick update. We are approving today the contracts for sidewalk we know this is a very popular and important program to many residents. If you could just speak to how many people have applied how many sidewalks will be repaired with this particular or these two particular contracts? I know the first one with Century seem it mentions I think 1400 sidewalks were 12 Excuse me. 1200 blocks will be repaired. Not sure about the second contract. That's for 16 million. So if you could just give us a little bit of an update on when residents can see their sidewalks being repaired now that we approve these and roughly how many will be repaired and how Council will be kept kept in a loop so that we can notify residents when the repairs will be coming to their particular blocks.
Sure, madam chair, the two contracts together total of just over $19 million and the two contracts combined will allow for optiv we estimate 60,000 individuals damaged sidewalk flags to be replaced and inspected particular case where these two contracts are actually going to deviate from our normal sidewalk repair program concept whereby normally we would just replace tree damaged sidewalk. For these two contracts we're actually going to replace all damaged sidewalk when we do work on an individual block between the two contracts, or we expect for 1200 individual blocks to receive new sidewalk throughout the city and we've actually received requests through multiple, multiple different processes which include including receiving requests from various block clubs throughout the city. We receive requests from 117 different block clubs that cover off of another city council of different districts and just for the request of those block clubs. We anticipate installing. What's the number 600 blocks just from the requests that we receive, that we received to the block clubs. We're also going to be able to address about 1000 of the requests from existing backlog backlog that that exists to come in into the 2023 season. We're also prioritizing requests that we received from senior citizens requests that we received from the disabled community. We're working with the Office of Disability to identify those requests and make sure that that community that they have their request is ultimately received by the Department of Public Works. We've also receive requests that have come through your respective offices that also be a part of this particular contract. So in addition, we're also going to be prioritizing sidewalk around parks and schools we receive a list of Parks from the General Services Department saw the damage sidewalk around those parks. I will also be a part of this program. I am president and I've just also like to indicate that these two contracts actually represent just the first two, five separate contracts that will ultimately put in front of Rihanna robot for a different sidewalk work. The other contracts will allow us to dress damaged sidewalk along certain commercial corridors as well as some improvements that we're doing in the downtown area as we even look forward to next year at the NFL Draft. But again, this particular contract all of the work is going to be done in residential neighborhoods throughout the city.
All right, thank you Director Brundage, and you mentioned how many requests came specifically from black clubs. You were going kind of fast there.
We received 117 requests from different block clubs and typically we found it was actually a surprise to me that the block clubs generally cover more than one block. They've averaged about four blocks for each of the block clubs as submitted requests that will be addressed this year. So just for that component of the project we expect to replace damaged sidewalk and 600 individual blacks just as a black lab request process.
Okay, and that would all be done. You said this year.
That's correct. And the reason that we've awarded our recommended award for two contracts because the low bidder Detroit based company major jority we felt that they had the capacity to complete 85% of the work this year. We then went to the next level better century submit so that we can ensure that all 60,000 flags will be done this year.
All right. Great. And so the notification to the black club so that when I go out and I'm speaking to the residents, and they say we submitted a request and we haven't heard anything back, I can confidently tell them that all of the submitted requests from black clubs will be honored this year. Is that what you're saying?
And that 117 I must say what as of, I think about 10 days ago, if we've gotten additional questions then there's a possibility that those later requests may not make it in our program. But our objective our goal is to try to have all of the black class be done this year, even though it's come later in the season.
All right, great. And then just my last question is just the notification to council when a particular block club will be addressed like a timeline so that we're able to notify residents as to when that forthcoming construction is coming or if they're calling us asking when is it going to happen? We have a timeline and kind of can update them on that process
around here. Once these contracts are approved, we'll then be in a position to actually put together put together a schedule so I can either come back to the body or submit a report indicating timelines for when we'll be doing work in each of the respective City Council District.
Okay, perfect. All right. Thank you so much, Mr. Brundage. And you did say Mr. Brundage? I'm sorry, before you go, that if you didn't make the first round block clubs can still submit, but they may not make this round of the first base.
That's correct. What I believe the Department of neighborhoods reached out to directly to all of the neighborhood block clubs, I think the number is around 600 In total or so. And only 117 submitted at least that as of about a week and a half or so ago. But again, there's no there's no, there's no cutoff date. For the program. We're still taking requests and again I just can't guarantee at this point, if new requests that come in whether or not they'll be we'll be able to have those included as part of our 2023 program.
Okay. All right. Thank you Director Brundage. I think councilmember Johnston has her hand raised as well.
Thank you Madam President. Director Brundage. I just wanted to clarify something I know that there was a priority given to black clubs. How are individual requests that have been submitted to the department being addressed?
We're also we're also taking those and there's gonna be a percentage of those that are done also, but I'm sorry, to the to the President's desk. We did coming into the season. I have about 3000 individual requests that were already in backlog and I indicated earlier that we are going to be able to address at least 1000 of those requests that we already had in inventory. So for new requests that come in individually, or we're going to add those to the list, but we do have to be cognizant of the fact that we did have individuals that are requested sidewalk through similar processes in the past that we don't want to despite bans.
Thank you. Thank you, Madam President.
Thank you, Councilmember Yang.
Thank you, Madam President. Mr. Brown, it's always good to see you. Excellent. As always, sir. I just want to ask you really quickly. I like to see a construction schedule once it's ready. You know, say it just so I can just see it. So I just had that for myself. And I also want to ask you what does this represent in terms of the overall sidewalk portfolio, so it percentage wise, in terms of all these repairs that are going to be done? Is it gonna be 50% of the overall portfolio that paired 60% was represented,
through the chair that we've got about 4.1 million individual flags of sidewalk that exists throughout the city, and our most recent engineering estimates. Were that? Was that I think about 400 And I think 490,000 flags were damaged or needed replacement at that particular time. So we think this particular contract is going to allow us to address about 15% of the existing damage sidewalks throughout the city, you say
50% One five 15%. I'm saying that's just these concepts. What is the overall contract portfolio that all the contracts we're going to vote on? What does that represent?
Um, so I'm sorry, through the chair. The 15% would represent what we would be able to do with all of our contracts these two contracts will allow us to, to repair about 60,000 flags. This year in total, we expect to replace a total of over 70,000 flags so those 70,000 sidewalk flags when replaced, would represent about 15% on the estimated damage sidewalks anyway,
okay. Thank you. I appreciate that, sir.
Thank you. All right. Thank you Director Brundage for being here that will conclude our questions and Member Santiago Ramiro has already moved this for approval. Are there any objections in the 16 resolutions that have been moved for approval? Any objections? Hearing none, the 16 resolutions will be approved,
Madam President.
Yes, ma'am.
I would like to request a waiver for line items 8.4 through eight point 14 as well as a point 16 through eight point 19.

dark wood. Nope. Please do so. No. All right. Yes, number. Yeah,
thank you, ma'am. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer here. But um, I'm looking at an LGBTQ Pride Month. And I think last year was the lethal year community. I just want to know, and I know this is an entirely new thing, because we're supposed to celebrate, but I just want to know, has there been any progress in terms of that at all? I don't know if I talked to LPD. I don't know that's a question for DPD. Probably to answer but I'm just really concerned with the climate that we have going on right now. What is the status of our transgender, you know, our LGBTQ, especially our transgender community? That is like, no, what's that status in the city of Detroit? I don't know who I don't I don't know who I would. I think that'd be a question for DPD mister whatever. Am I correct on that? Yes. Obviously my here yeah, he would be the most knowledgeable. I don't think there's anybody here this to watch. Is there anybody here from BB I'm gonna be there? Yes. That's probably something I have to do on my own time, but I just wanted to get that out there. Because I am concerned.
Sure, no, unfortunately, um, no one is online, but I can definitely follow up with the department.
Yeah, I'll just put it in Hong Kong. Thank you. Members I'm doing
alright, so councilmember Santiago Ramiro move these resolutions for approval Are there any objections? Hearing none, the four resolutions will be approved. Do you have anything with the clerk?

And yours is June 9. No. So we're going to go celebrate you today. And as you always say, the class council president leading us through all of the stuff that we go through, and your team has done a tremendous job and putting together a cake back. Okay, so it's your turn. Right.
Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you. Thank you. So much, bro. Tim. Thank you. Um,
so I guess for me before I go, Mr. Tukana. You wanted to update us on the zoning amendments. Right. And then I'll go to my member reports. All
right. Thank you, Madam President. Just wanted to correct my comment earlier when you raise the question about the number. Again, what was presented to the Standing Committee last week was a projected number of 225, not 295. Additional parcels that could result from moving the spacing from 1000 to 750, lineal feet, radio feet from controlled uses.
Alright, thank you. Yes, ma'am.
Thank you, man for it. I just want to ask you that that really just depends on on that reduction distance, right. So you're gonna have more parts, maybe not a whole lot from what I saw, but you'll have more parts of they'll be available based on how much you reduce yourself from 750 to 500. I'm not gonna see a map of 700 I'm gonna see another map of 500. I'm gonna ask for another one for 250 then one for zero and on a spec that will all show how many more parcels will be available Correct?
Yeah. To the best of our ability, again, we are striving to do this with some technical difficulties that seemingly arrived with each iteration of this map and even the number that we've given them that I gave today is even being further adjusted as we continue to get additional information. And we're trying to make sure through law department and every other source that what we're working with is the most accurate but to answer your question, yes, each adjustment to any spacing criteria will result in changes to the potentially eligible and available parcels.
I don't make sure like an economic no law of diminishing returns where it just gets to the point where it's not gonna get any further no matter how much further you you diminish the distance. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes, Councilman Robinson.
Want to make sure I want to be clear. Are we looking for a motion at this table later date to reduce the distance requirements to zero?
I think remember you don't you just want to see that.
Not yet. I will probably be looking for something like that in the future, but not right now. No, I'll just ask you the question. I'm just putting forth the question. I just want to make sure from my own understanding, from what I've been shown pre prior to come to this table, where it is and what it's not because I have my own ideas about why I want to do that, where I want to put it out and all that. But I don't want to talk about that. Now. I'll just I just want to make sure what I was saying was accurate going forth through my process. So I just wanted to be clear. Thank you. Yeah, I would have to I would have told you I wouldn't. I would have put that on you. If I was gonna do something like that now.
All right. Thank you. So much. Mr. Ty, you will have the eligible properties that are available based on the numerous amendments that council was proposing. So whether it's from 1007 50 or 500, you will have those amounts to how they vary. Okay, that's perfect. Yes. Yes, ma'am.
Thank you, Madam President. So just for clarity. I know Mr. Tag kind of touched on it. Of those 225 parcels, all of them are not able to support independently, a marijuana related or cannabis related business via our statute that they have to be at least 2000 square feet. And so of those parcels, all of them are not 2000 square feet, just again, for the record wanted folks to know that. In addition to that, there is no in this particular zoning ordinance, there is no additional licenses that are being made available. So that number that we were at when we previously approved, the licensing ordinance has remained fine and it stays where it is. So though we may be gaining additional spacing, we don't gain any additional licenses. So I just want to make sure we put that especially when we talk about the limited licenses discretion. And
I'll remember events NC and just for clarity,
we couldn't address licenses in this board inside that we have to be at the regulation side, not on the zoning side. Correct. Okay, thank you.
All right. Thank you looking forward to that discussion on Thursday. For my memory ports. Again, just want to thank my colleagues, Councilmember Pro, Tim Tate and Councilmember DeHart, our chief and everyone who joined us at the gun violence awareness kickoff. Yesterday had an amazing event. Just reminding everyone that it is Gun Violence Awareness Month I see a lot of people have orange one today that represents the recognition of gun violence a month in our city. And looking forward to some, some resolutions some things that will be coming before council regarding gun violence. So stay tuned for that. Occupy the corner we'll be kicking off next Friday, June the 16th or 10th annual the corner will be on the corner of Shane street right up the street from the Martin Luther King homes at the Coleman Young playfield giving away over 350 bikes, tons of resources, carnival rides, etc connecting people with information and resources that will improve their quality of life.
