Because I don't think I'm gonna be here though Michael Hospitallers right now Hello everyone. I'm Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. We just had a very lengthy conversation with President Biden and senior administration officials. We would like to really thank them for their generous amount of time that they gave us. In great dialogue that we had. My colleagues and I really appreciate the time and the attention that they gave us today we discussed the CCS priorities around immigration infrastructure, environmental justice, Hispanic students, and health care representative Darren Soto. Our Vice Chair of policy spoke on the equitable implementation of the bipartisan infrastructure law to ensure Hispanic communities have fair access to projects and funds that will result from its implement implementation. I touched on environmental justice and ensuring our Hispanic communities have a voice at the table for projects that can potentially negatively impact your health. Representative Nanette Barragan, our deputy chair, as well as our vice chair of diversity and inclusion. Pianos by Yan our vice chair of communications that SM Leger Fernandez touched on our proposed set of executive actions on immigration reform. Because we know the time is now to modernize our broken immigration system, boost our economy and let our communities know that they are not forgotten also on Obidos we have our vice chair of member engagement and steering representative Tony Guterres, and as we made sure our students had a voice at the table and presented policy solutions to help level the playing field for Hispanic students. And then we close with vice chair of the Democratic caucus, Pete Aguilar, with a discussion on the importance of quality health care for our Latino communities. Our members will speak shortly on each topic, I want to emphasize the urgency of securing a pathway to citizenship for the farmworkers and meat packers who fed America the construction workers who build American cities, the restaurant and hotel workers and serve our families and the nurses, doctors and health care workers. Who have cared for us during this public health crisis. So overall, the executive orders and actions presented will inspire younger generations to engage with us and the Biden administration. empower them and send a clear message and then they are not forgotten. No so not
economically. With the administration. We work to ensure that Hispanic communities across the country understand the impact of historic legislation like the American rescue plan and the bipartisan infrastructure law that the Biden administration has pushed across the finish line and thanks to their investments in the CAC advocacy, Hispanic communities across the country will see improvements in their quality of life. elements I can ask is that most likely no no's but more recently, the American issue and American history story is the Hispanic story The Hispanic story to the American story, Hispanic issues are American issues. And that's why our caucus is dedicated to continue moving forward to improve the lives of all Americans and Hispanic families throughout our country. We think the Biden administration for meeting with us today and look forward to working together to continue to deliver for Hispanic communities across the country. I'd like to invite the deputy chair of the CAC representative and never again to give a few remarks.
Thank you. I just wanted to highlight the issue that I spoke about which was kind of wanted to thank the President and CDC working on this issue. Now that there are vaccines vendors testing, other ways to COVID across the country and NASDAQ is coming off to stick with the gate that was announced. And we also ask the President administration to open the commission so that we can be partners so that we can we can ministration successful implementation of that public, California information. We received very positive feedback. And so that was my conversation.
We'll take questions at the end. Next I have our vice chair of diversity inclusion. Representative at the MS by
taking Chairman, we spoke about executive orders for immigration. As you all know, we have not been able to pass comprehensive immigration reform for over 30 years. Many communities across the country are waiting for that but we feel very strongly that executive orders to be able to read designate and designate Temporary Protected Status for several Latin American Caribbean countries. In addition to that there are 4 million people that are waiting to be reunited with their families. They have been petitioned by family members living in the United States. And of course, there's gridlock at USCIS and at the State Department and we're hopeful that that process will be fast tracked and streamlined. United families are stronger and families are united. Our country is stronger as well. So we're hopeful that two executive orders will be able to get into PSP designated and that the process to petition family members, 4 million of them that are waiting to come into the United States as fast.
Thank you Next we have the vice chair of policy Darren Soto representative.
The Hispanic caucus was proud to be able to support the new infrastructure law. Traditionally our communities have been left behind in our fair share of federal funding. Yet we're in some of the fastest growing areas across the nation and face me major barriers like helping fix the traffic, have clean water and air for those of us who live in rural areas to make sure we have access to broadband and water supply. So we're very excited to work with the Biden administration on an executive order to ensure culturally competent language appropriate outreach to Hispanic communities across the nation to ensure that we get our fair share. And that's been your lawyer he also might have worked on or lay the infrastructure historic amendment so there's no receive back nothing goes on the record the ideas come commercial press in the end through CFA must your investor see that part of your regular dropping their IRA agua in those areas. Rallies about the internet soldiers Thomas Moyer do some kind of grab a hot, minute stress from the invited us yawn is where SOS productivity workers in Espanol para yoga.
Make your next vice chair of communications that SL ledger Fernandez.
So we also address something that has wide popular support that I think every community recognize the importance of providing our dreamers, the default Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Everybody across this country supports that because they know that our dreamers are students there are nurses there are essential workers. They are among us and they deserve to have to live without fear. And work without fear. Unfortunately, not a single Republican in the Senate is willing to vote for the bill that the House has sent over. So we are asking the President, as they look at it as an administrative procedure, they issued a rule for DACA that they assured that that won't put DACA also brings forward the date so that we can make sure that our Trojan horse who are right now on freshmen dreamers, those who are dreamers who are in high school, that they can benefit from this program, which is widely supported and we recognize that we are very excited about supporting the president read this administrative procedure act rulemaking so there aren't DACA dreamers can stay in and work with that they deserve elected to look elsewhere as long as there was darkness.
Thank you Next we have vice chair of member engagement steering representative Tony cut.
I stand here proudly as a first generation American citizen. My parents came from my vehicle. And here I am a member of the United States Congress. I enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with President Biden and his administration to talk to them and the President about student debt. Student debt is a yoke across the shoulders of too many young people in America trying to get off the ground and start their lives after getting their higher education and the Hispanic student. This expanded have been disproportionately affected by them. For example, 12 years after leaving college, Hispanics across America still owe an average of 80 plus percent of their student debt. That's after 12 years. But this relief, perhaps a $10,000 to all the students across America with student debt and also to increase the actual moratorium on student debt payments and is going on right now. We hope and pray that the President will consider doing so and take action now so that we can keep our promise to our young people that their future is in their hands and also in our hands. I'd also like to say in Spanish, get organized they said on his father's boy you're gonna stick by you stockholder also Mira mucho yo they said Sudan on this device. Thank you and representatives democratic detanglers vocal about the fact that the pandemic is still ongoing. emergency declaration should be extended. A lot of our families are benefiting from the Medicaid enrollment expansions. A lot of our families are still suffering symptom ology due to COVID 19 including longhaul COVID. That rely on Medicaid in health care access. So we requested just that public health emergency be extended till the end of this year and it expired the near future. All of this has a overwhelming thing. Biden administration has had record drop in unemployment increased these jobs for Hispanic families and the set of collaborative executive action could unleash further the economic potential of our nation to be able to fill in the shortage of workers that are small businesses often cited as a reason why or something that can help them to continue to expand. It will help with our supply chain in order to bring down costs for American families everywhere. We also know that immigration reform can increase our GDP by over $1 trillion and really boost American families out salaries and wages throughout the entire country. This is an agenda and a priority that we will work with the administration to help all American families in the great United States of America will take
care of leaders can you can you
speak to some of the criticism
for example,
that the President is not listening when it comes to title to start with Terry, my

is going to overwhelming our system to those. And also, the White House has a specific plan to the president detail any specifics on what they are going to do about what their own administration doesn't get a large
number of show the congressional stratotype has made it very clear title policy and the public health emergency policy that was instituted under the Trump administration during his eight year agenda. And that because we have changed the face of the systemic efforts over Biden administration, American rescue plan, and Congress being able to fund the vaccines, shots in our money, markets before jobs, that you're in a different position now. There's ample vaccines available there is the ability to test quarantine and work and so
that we should focus on border management policy in order to make sure that they have the resources in order to go forward in terms of plans. The details will soon be forthcoming with Secretary Majorca who's going to be on the hill.
Charlie's why is that why is that why why is it to Alexandria Ocasio Cortez ever invited to these meetings at the White House if
the Hispanic Caucus wanted to leverage its full might? Why not bring the why not bring the member with the biggest platform to speak here.
CDC leadership was invited.
So that Congress system during your meeting some of these concerns raised by some of your colleagues, Democrats about the administration's preparedness, as it gets ready for Title join.
You know, we talked about preparedness. We talked about border management. We talked about funding and resources that are needed and so those conversations have been we also talked about the importance of the public health approach. With vaccinations as to quarantine. We've set up a specific task force that is looking at the border management issues in the next coming months, which is going to be led by representatives. He's also the chair of the subcommittee, the Department of Homeland Security that addresses

it's done the CMOS as the as the Golden West. know Lisa. will get released is a Nokia eliminar SOS that'll get done Grande is what you just said about the skewed Missouri temporary restraining order. So we have been in meeting the President and we'll be walking out headline. So as a lawyer. I haven't seen the border from what I'm told that the border says is number one we don't know the slip. Number two, that it was a lawsuit over asking a judge to stop the Department of Homeland Security from starting to move into Phase and does not can afford to have the CDC reverse that decision that they made and again, I want to remind everybody, public health authority is not an integration to public health authority that the CDC has said sorry and that uses the word or is my understanding that hadn't seen it yet. Is it does not mean that doesn't reverse that the President
wants to extend these restrictions. They can do so do you have what is the President's southern border and Representative SPM you talked about executive order? What are you going to say to those who may say that executive orders are a slippery slope that the administration shouldn't do that. And one more on former President Trump since you mentioned his name before the SAVE AMERICA rallies around the country decrying the Biden administration on title 42 immigration all these issues. What would you say to the former president who's saying,
first of all with regards to TPS, these executive orders already in place? We're asking for a re designation. Some of them go back as far as January 1991 countries particularly those who wanted this Ignatian doesn't want them out. So this this has been done in the past. And with regards to with regards to expediting family reunification, that's an administrative task. It doesn't really require an executive order require some funding to ensure that we expedite the petitions that have already been placed on 5 million petitions and I'm pleased to reunite families here.
Should you visit the southern border? Should the practices decision of the president? What did the President indicate anything about executive orders that can help immigrants? Anything? Just last question, the election, the midterm elections, this presidency kind of help you at all. Remain in Mexico that's come up before the court
