All right, so today's topic is trust. Welcome to day two of the North American School of Internet governance. And we have these three themes. We dealt with truth yesterday. Today is trust. And tomorrow, I hope is hope. Right. So those are sort of our broad topics that we're gonna talk about looking at trusts from a number of different angles. I thought for fun. I would get everybody engaged in a little bit of a poll. So I'm going to share my screen host has disabled participant screen sharing. Can you let me share my screen? Oh, okay. Nevermind. Alright, so. So yeah, so one of the gets you engaged a little bit. And so I'm going to put up a QR code here, eventually, for you to go to with your phone and allow you to participate in a poll on trust, hopefully. And that goes for everyone online as well. So I am a co host. Now I think that's correct. That will allow me to do it. So this is your QR code. We trusted, she stole my joke. This is actually a test of trust. So hopefully, if you went to that QR code, you'll see a poll come up how to increase digital trust. So this invites you to just write a word or more than one word of what you think one word at a time of activities do you think increase digital trust. So this is a word cloud, right? And so the greater the frequency of a particular word was used, the bigger it is. And the word cloud, we've all seen these before, right? So you can see that the biggest one is transparency. So that's the word that most of you use to increase trust. It's interesting, right? Because that data protection, it's not education. But the idea that you think trust is best enhanced by transparency. And the next biggest was education. And then you can see some of the other words that people came up with us as well. So just something interesting. Now I'm going to try to do one more poll for you here. So hopefully, you still have your phone open. And you should now see another question. Or if you are, you can go back to the or I can go back to that QR code if you needed it again.
So the reason I asked this question is because trust is a complicated thing, right? As we are sort of netizens, right, the people in this room are the ones using the Internet, maybe the most more than average people. So what is that a reflection of though? Is that a reflection of your trust in the Internet, in the providers of goods and services online? Or is it in fact, your trust in yourself your ability to detect bad actors, or bad emails or bad websites and to practice sort of good digital hygiene? Is that is that your trust in yourself? That leads you to be happy using the Internet? Right. So that's, and that seems to be the big answer here that you've gained trust in your own ability to determine whether or not something is trustworthy, more so than you've gained trust in the Internet itself. That makes sense. So anyways, those are just some opening thoughts. I have a session coming up. I don't want to use up too many ideas at the outset here, but I thought I'd get you all engaged a little bit on answering some of these questions. And with that, I thought I would invite our fearless leader, Eduardo Diaz to come up and say a few remarks about day two.
Thank you, sir. Thank you to the second day of NASA. Today, like Mr. Jonathan Sook mentioned we're talking. Our sections are focused to trust guests at all was true and tomorrow is hope. I just want to mention again, our dearly sponsors. Those are the ones that made this possible again, and yesterday I forgot to mention.br which, you know, I mentioned everyone except.br has been a constant sponsor of us for since we started the school in 2018. So like, the president of the Union whereas it is not with us today, but we're very grateful for her and her staff to allow us to use this space, which I think is appropriate for the school, and the Public Interest Registry, which PIR, they are the people to manage the.org. And that money that they made for.org is part of the money that is used to support ISOC Foundation and the ISOC, Internet, Internet Society so and the Internet Society, which we have Brian here, thank you so much for supporting the schools in this state support this called and many schools around the world. So that's very good. And the American register for Internet, Nam this, these are the people that I like the mail when you know, you have a new house development, where do you go to get the addresses where you go to the mail and say, you know, give me emails for my houses there. But these are the people that manage that type of thing. They call it IP numbers in that case, and the DNS Research Foundation, which there were here done, they get they're going their way. They provide research on the DNS. And they're going to be with us today and tomorrow. And you will see some of the work that they do. American University, we have a couple of people here from American University, where they're supporting us also in this today. And the Institute of computer engineers from the College of Professional Engineers in the river, they're also supporting part of what we do. And that's a big organization. We are about 10,000 engineers around the island. And we belong to this organization. And I'm pretty sure there are some of them connected online and Farah. eo is one of those local firms that grew up in Puerto Rico. And they are very an expert. Now Internet, intellectual property brand protection. They do a lot of patent work here in Puerto Rico and in this states. And now they're spreading around the world, these them all over the place. And an ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, they're going to have their community forum meeting, following this cool. So I encourage all of you that have no register yet, today is the last day for registering to that. So if you're going to go there in person, you can always connect, you can always go to remotely right. And the official school of Internet governance, the free school is online. It's encourage all of you and the ones the people that are connected to basic basic. And if you're interested in getting deeper into concept of Internet governance, please register there and they have a very, very well prepare courses. That gives you more insight into Internet governance and its concepts and Internet Society, which is one of the sponsors here that support us in in with the school. So with that in mind, we're going to take a small, small step here on that then we'll set up the next session. So thank you so much
