This is a class that the government assured us of them and invited us down with a person who has been chomping at the bit to really make sure that recovery is going well, and to make sure that frequency has gone but you don't need to hear from me. With that, I'll turn it over to the President. Look, folks, you know, this one is not only here, all the way through the parking lot. In the meantime, also, governors, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and more guests, daughter. She runs out, boys and girls from operations. She called me, said Dad, when you go when you spend time talking to the governor of New York, why are you not in Louisiana. Right. And so, you know, Cedric and in that in the illustrator. We came to him directly. What's the specific problem. We've been working with you in key areas, more than 6.7 million meals 6.1 million litres of water but times. Deliver what is needed. And we're frustrated, I know you got to be frustrated about ministration power. And I understand. Two gentlemen inflation. I think he got, you got about, 25,000 leaders from around the country, a couple of our elders and. And so we're working 24 Seven energy companies, I think everybody knows that, to, to get the system up and moving and we also deployed even more federal resources including hundreds of generators to restore power. And you faster than Katrina. It was dangerous work as I said we want to think of 25,000 linemen from 32 different states and respond in a big time. We're also working with a phone company so you can, You know I think the worst thing in the world and bending under different circumstances, you know, knowing things in parallel outside when you're standing in wondering how your son, daughter, mother father or mother doing. When you connect with. And so, moving as fast as you can able to provide access regardless where your provider. Providers system went down the family is any provider. So I hope that's picking up on understand as well and I'd like to hear more about data. And we're moving as fast as we can. Keep gas flowing to the pumps. I will authorize doing a strategic petroleum reserve. And, but I know still, There's work to do and in this area and instructed my team to have all hands on deck to make sure that that happens. And we're going to make this up. Instead of is going to axon kind of get back out there and really look at it. And today, we've also provided 100 million dollars in direct assistance directly to folks that emergencies, and love to hear from what you currently think feedback from your constituents, simply need that little bit can make a difference. And we also know there's a heck of a lot more work to do.
In my message today
response from Republican friends, Republican friends here is just simply about saving lives and getting people back up and running the race together
city code
gets done.
Mainly, unless
you really have questions like it is.
So thank you.
Thank you Mr President, we'll turn it over to the governor who's leading the statewide recovery, Governor, thank you, Cedric and welcome back home. We appreciate the
invitation.
Listen, know that on Tuesday of this week, and this means
to come down, and
it makes a difference to the impact.
We appreciate you being here. And
then the other person the major disaster declaration that we found out as well and doing things family is really important so we were able to assemble the larger urban search and rescue team in advance.
In tremendously helpful
person country,
but from
different states. They came in to be able to do that. Tremendously devastating storm we're gonna be a long time recovering the initial part is about getting people's lives dried up saving lives and that sort of thing, and then recovery is going to do it quite some time. And so we know that you're, you're here with us today but you're going to be with us in a long time as well I did want to point out that, that immediate impact system, and you're working nine to five. That's the way
to go, very tragic, in terms of results.
Largely, that was a good success story. Secondly, the investments made just so helpful. There wasn't a ready anywhere in the week I was able
to appeal and
because of that, it's not serious. But we're talking about very low numbers compared to investing in infrastructure, in resiliency, and making sure that you mortgage payoff because this will be a much more expensive song to recover from. Have you not always made to that
point, once you're representing the district you never stop representing. You know, one of the things that helps to keep an eye on is free, everybody is that, You know I got kind of beat criticized for my talking when I was running for office, we got to build back better. Things are changing so drastically in terms of the environment. We've already crossed certain threshold, you can't build that road a highway a bridge to what it was before, to kind of go back to what it is now. And you know, heavy energy companies understand this, we have a significant piece of legislation. Both infrastructure bill. a budget reconciliation that calls for significant investment in being able to deal with legends about code numbers for example, you guys couldn't back up. I tend to have the same access to you guys, resilience, and so I just want you all to focus on it, and as you take a look at some copies of this stuff. Take a look and see what what we're suggesting makes enough sense to not wear enough money or not, it doesn't make sense, does it make sense for example coming in and seeing all polls. Well, you know, go back better I mean, you know, we know underground help cost a lot more money but a lot more long term. I know that the kind of stuff that goes across the high tensile stuff go down. I could did one from the Delaware River to the hell out of it to Mississippi. It's so we have that seems to me we can save a whole lot of money, and a whole lot of pain, pain, go back and go back in a better way, and realize that I'm selling as I'm talking to him but it will create a really significant good paying jobs. $15 an hour job, Josh correllian Wait, generates economic growth. But I just, I just hope we don't go about deciding, just like you and I talk a lot about the levee system. For one, The federal government has a lot of money, but think how much money is saved. Okay, think about that. So when you hear the radio word resumes.
It's about making the system
from our transmission of energy straight through to the highway through building the bridges, resilient to the changes we saw.
Don't make me more or less,
but thank you Miss Carson I think with that is a great way to segue to our payment administrator. Dan crystal.
President governor. So far, you know, in addition to some of the numbers that you mentioned, we have about 1200 responders from the federal family on the ground, and that those are back at our National Response Coordination Center as well as a regional response coordination center, representing 22 different federal government agencies, we have right now 197 ambulances that have been actively engaged in trying to help with managing your support for the health care system. We also have 12 Mobile Communications has been down and so we've sent them into the parish. I'd also like to mention that we did just turn on the transitional sheltering Assistance Program, the governor asked for that yesterday, the day before
that. In this situation, if you haven't read this.
Today I'm in my pajamas, to have that available to help with some of those temporary Rufina parents. And then the last one is you know that we are moving responder lodging and
we had to come up here and earn more than the airport.
And this isn't just for federal funding.
We're actively pursuing additional lodging to help support that you really need to be able to take.
We're gonna be your
disposal to recognize our host parasols, as we looked at those roots in the country that has our federal programs get up and running. We provided blue rules, but a lot of those were set up because the people in Louisiana decided to get on there and put up with tarp mitigate the damage and start that recovery process immediately so the fact that you were able to get those tarps, out to parishes or people who pick them up and start their recovery was important and looking at the vast numbers. It was just incredible and gives me a sense of Louisiana prior to just show that when we get knocked down you get right back up and with that I recognize. One of the things that, again, about resilience, where you really get the funding to build back those roots but not the same root, root that is more resistant to higher winds and more resistance to hurricanes. So it's not just building back to what the root cause before can build back better, that's kind of what I mean. So classy example what I'm talking about resilience, changing nature. So Mr. President, with that out, recognize the parents president of St John Parish, Jacqueline.
Mr President, governor, and all of our partners. Thank you for all of the hard work that was done in preparation for hurricane Ida, and thank you for the response so far on the ground, and for continuing to ramp up those efforts. Mr President, from your track record, I know you will be a great partner in our recovery. Thank you for your support and your continued support for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain levy project. And thank you for calling out insurance companies for distinguishing between mandatory and voluntary evacuations. Mr President, our immediate needs are power, water, communications, and financial assistance for those who can't return home somewhere else. During the record. Recognize. Recognize next sisters close pester corner represents the congressional district. Actually Congressman graves as your seniority. So we're gonna recognize Congressman graves.
