Okay, let's see if this works great. I was walking, I don't know what. And so I have to try. Enabling this again because braved in like, okay, Firefox. Okay. All right, let's start the room. clockhouse
minutes.
haven't read about it first live calls.
I was, I was done with my job.
This conversation with my room.
Hey Alex Hey Simon how's it going
again.
Excellent. Give me a second. I need to set up the secondary device as well. It's a bit fiddly. Yeah, I'm not sure what happened to my browser, but it wasn't picking up the microphone so I had to use Firefox also be a backup just in case.
Yeah, Acrobat mess was
empty clubhouse clubhouse is full of interesting create inclusive clubhouse selected voiceover.
It's gonna be a lot of feedback and we'll move on. Okay, great. minutes.
Hi everyone, this is my dear. Thanks Alex for opening the room Hi Simon Nice to see you again. Alex, I'm sorry I missed Thursday I had such a weird day and I'm, I'm like, craving I feel like something was missing from my week.
Oh, really. I mean I didn't do first aid and scheduling and I'm doing it today so
wasn't you remember Thursday,
though there wasn't one you wasn't
there was no really,
oh he's pretty amazing I'm like I'm doing, I'm doing this on Saturday, so it's a normal schedule on Thursday. I actually haven't been on clubhouse for ages.
Like a week off, so I'm missing today.
It's been good, it's been good.
I think I'm really glad that this room is happening and I think it's gonna be really really helpful so for everyone. I'll just do like a quick kind of room, check in from people who are joining while you get set up. So this is my own speaking, you are joining us here within the 15% Club. We are the club on clubhouse that focuses on accessibility, inclusion, disability, of all kinds and we encourage anyone who is on clubhouse to join to learn about how to create inclusive conversations, how to be mindful of accessibility, and today we are having a really really cool discussion about ways to use live transcription to create a more inclusive, accessible experience for people who are are Deaf or people who want to follow along, using live transcription, there are many good uses for it. And so, we're joined today by Alex, kind of a clubhouse 15% royalty, at this point about voiceover and voice control, And we are joined also by Simon from otter.ai, who's going to kind of guide us through some of the amazingness that is otter and how we can use it to create accessible spaces as well as Adriana, the founder and Queen herself of the 15% Club, so I know that I'm rushing in Alex, why you get set up but just in order to make sure that people who are joining know what's going on, please feel free to ping in your friends, we're gonna have a good discussion here and I am just here to facilitate and over to you, Alex. Thanks.
Thank you Mom Thank you. Yes guys, just because this room will be live Instagram as well as mentioned in the title and the description. So if you go through my profile here on Clubhouse. I'm the one with the Google icon, or my name likes man if you're using a screen reader on my Twitter, my pin tweet, there's a link to a live transcription, feel free to retweet it to people, or share it with people who might find it useful. So this whole room will be transcribed live, and today we're gonna talk about what you know good techniques to use when we're using land live transcriptions, or software like. So, if you have any questions for either me or one of the other mods, especially Simon who works at ATA, feel free to raise your hand and we'll bring you up, but before we go to the speakers. Simon Joanna. Tell us a little bit about author and yourself then what you do.
Thank you Alex for inviting me to this room hosted by 15% Club. Hello, everyone. Happy Saturday morning, afternoon or evening wherever you are. My name is Simon Lau, I'm the VP of product at audit AI. So, it's a pleasure to be able to join this room to talk to you a little bit more about altering the application that can help you transcribe speech to text. And there are a variety of great uses of Otter, you can use it for meetings, you can use for interviews, you can use it for webinars, and you can even use it for clubhouse. So, it's a pleasure to be able to have the 15% Club, and Alex has been leveraging otter to be able to live transcribe the rooms so happy to answer any questions and happy to give a little bit more tidbits about how you can go about doing that, to be able to provide a very inclusive experience in clubhouse rooms. This assignment and
thank you so much. Yes, so that's probably one of the first, like speaking right away, is probably the best practice to use to announce your name before you start the transcriber will type it in as well. In, author, there is an option where it will save the name, so you don't have to always say or recognise your name, because it's very clever, but I think for most of the time people that this software might know who people really are so it's good to announce your name. And, yeah, before we go to like well I currently what my current setup is with the auto I'm not sure how good to transcribe the transcription is right now, but my current setup. Let's go to one of our first, because, hey, you're going, how's it going. Hi,
it's great to be with you guys. I guess this was really a word of caution I guess just based on my own experience of using otter to transcribe rooms that I felt were really important for various reasons to be able to ensure that they were specifically made available. And that's despite doing what you guys got here today, and flagging that the room is being transcribed and constantly repeating that felt like every five minutes that Devin was being transcribed, just under two weeks ago, I got suspended from clubhouse for doing it, somebody in the room, made a complaint about the fact the room was being transcribed, then it was currently in breach of clubhouse rules which unless that's recently changed, is probably still the case. I find myself suspended from clubhouse for seven days for doing so. And for trying to ensure that my room was accessible, and is only thanks to sort of an influencer in the food world who had access to the head of PR hypose That my ban was revoked. After about 24 hours. So I guess. Question Simon I don't know if you have any information about this reading insight. But I did hear while we do an article in the last week that one of the VC backers or voters know one of the same VC backers have capos in, whether you expect to see any integration of your technology into capos or whether you think close captioning will become a feature of the app in the coming months. Thank you I'm European and I'm done speaking.
Can you again thank you for your question this assignment speaking, so I won't be able to speak to any potential integration in the future I think certainly, if the demand calls for it, and it absolutely makes sense and we would be glad to consider it. But to address your question about the caution. That's absolutely great advice. I have been attending the clubhouse Town Hall, in which this precise question was raised to Paul. And Paul had clarified that. This is absolutely a creator first policy, meaning that as long as the, the room house is announcing and clarifying that this, this, this room is being recorded and transcribed. It's absolutely not against the policy, so he has been, he has answered this question clearly into town halls in a row, because it really deserved some clarification on the clubhouse policy, it did say that from the audience standpoint, that it needs to request permission from the, from the host, so. So if you have further question I would absolutely encourage you to direct it to the leaders of club house to get even further clarification. I can go back to the audit transcript to try to pull that answer and share with you as well so that you have clarity on that. It's unfortunate that you got banned for seven days, I mean that's a fact. So I'm not quite sure what, what really happened. But, as of the last two weekends. That was the clarification from Paul
address that one last time about okay, and totally appreciate what you're saying, Simon. I mean, I privatised it with in an email to Paul directly through a friend who was kind enough to pass it on as I did hear the same statements in the town hall. The current compost rules, as in the terms and conditions, quite clearly, prohibit any form of transcription, which is why I find it very odd. But no, that's absolutely understood, perhaps this is the wrong forum to is this, so thanks very much.
You're good.
I'm speaking,
how you've been listening speaking before you finish naturally I just wanted to ask when you created your room. Did you use on the title say it was being like transcribed or announced at all.
That is Juergen. Yes, in the title it stipulated the room was being transcribed and the conversation I stipulated, it was being transcribed. The, the, sort of feather in the works, if you go through the entire terms and conditions, Is that the to Simon's point. The, it basically requires the consent of the individuals in the room. And because currently unfortunately Capo still is sort of retro actively assessing some of the complaints made so it's suspend first, ask questions later to some degree, right. I was suspended whilst the, I guess investigated. I can only imagine I mean again, you know, we know how few stuff they have so doesn't really amaze me. I guess the, yeah, that's, that's really, um, you're good, then I'm speaking.
Right, so I just started speaking so yes, if you do come up here, you will be recorded for the live transcription. So if you're happy to come up to ask any of your questions then feel free to raise your hand and we'll invite you up. Okay so, currently, this room has been washed and scrubbed, like I said, So, I know, Adriana has been using. Also, as well as, ma'am. So we're gonna share some stuff that I use and then maybe you can top it up maybe. So currently the setup is very crude, it's nothing fancy at all, because there's no integration with clubhouse and also what I'm doing right now is having my computer on my desk, on a Firefox browser logged into otter, and my microphone is pointing at a secondary phone, because as a voiceover user, I'm unable to manage the room or moderator room and have something live transcribe, otherwise it's going to pick up the speech and it's going to be really horrible for the live transcription, there'll be one, there'll be like one of those Google captures. So, a microphone pointing at Basic and refund logged into clubhouse as well. So that's what I do. I'm not sure Adrena ma'am do to do any different, any differently.
This is Adriana speaking, I just sit next to my computer, or in front of my computer, near the computer mic, and that's how I transcribe the clubhouse. And I'm done speaking.
Great, so that's quite simple but obviously if you're a voiceover user like myself, it's better to have less distractions, so I'm actually in a different room right now. And the recording setup is in my bedroom. So hopefully it's still picking up correctly, so there's no way to check for me. But, yeah. Okay, before we go any further, there's been two speakers you go under.
Hey, I just like this room and I was like, oh, transcribing the first name which came to my mind was otter AI centre which the robot eyes have like so excited to be a part of it. And yes, like I allow the idea that you know, select two powerful things like law powers and or try and I would love to see an integration with like really loud as in integration because there's some conversation which happens among the rooms, and I will be like, how much should we take notes and take those retellings our regular they will be amazing if there was a tool to learn or $1 or something. And he's I really believe it. If because I have personally used or try AI for some of my meetings at my corporate and some of the meetings which I personally have which like because at times. Some of times you're so engaged in the conversation. You won't feel like taking notes you know some of his conversations. So, if it is like transcribe is like recorded again someone needs to like sit down and manually transcribe it, and I love that I wrote this whole thing is coming up, and I have a question by the way, so I know that Andre I probably pick up signal British accent and the American accents properly, I believe. What about like I'm from India, so I haven't like India, and for people, friends in the Middle East to have like a Middle Eastern accent. And I know that, like in our backs and or like a Jewish actually do like does, actually I like, particularly picks up all these accents because I know that times when I particularly speak the time some of the words are incorrectly transcribed, like are we looking at a future where almost all the accents will be covered under the same product that's it,
Amanda.
Hi Amanda, thank you for the question, this assignment speaking. So yes, absolutely, otter has been trained to transcribe a variety of accents, Indian accents is actually one of the accents that we have trained the AI engine to be able to transcribe. So, this is a specific asked when we were integrating with Zoom. So the live transcription in zoom is actually powered by otter, as well, so. So Chinese accent Indian accents are one of the top pass, when we were working on the integration with Zoom. So, I would suggest that a couple of other things that could be happening would be. Check the audio input, and make sure that you have a good microphone, make sure you have close distance to the microphone. where others running that might, that might help the boost the accuracy of the, of the transcript of the output of the transcription. A second thing that I would also recommend is, let's say, if you are engaged in conversation that has a lot of jargon, acronyms that are specific to your company organisation or domain. If you haven't tried already. There is a feature called Custom vocabulary that you can go into your account settings, so just go ahead and enter some of those domain specific terms, organisational specific acronyms and put it in there so that the next recording, and the next transcription honour, we'll get it right. So those are a couple of tips I have to offer to you and and Amanda, and thank you. This assignment that speaking.
Thank you, Simon. Thank you for the question as well. dystonic speaking, just to reset the room. Welcome to the room. This is a clubhouse slash otter AI room, where we discuss what's the best practices to make clubhouse rooms, more accessible to people with hearing impairment. And we've got someone from switch Simon was just speaking just now. From us to you know, share it share his, his knowledge as well. So, actually, before we go on to more speakers. So I've actually got a question for you as well. So you mentioned that there's integration with Zoom and you know it's great because, all, all it does is, when you have it linked to zoom it will join your zoom calls automatically you don't have to do what we're doing right here. Pointing your microphone at a phone or logging into zoom logging on into otter to say hey I'm starting a meeting, come and join me blah blah blah. It will automatically do it so that integration. How did that come about did you can't reach out to zoom or did read, or did zoom reach out to you and say hey we want to have some audio transcription, would you be able to help add it up like
Hey Alex, thanks for the question, this assignment speaking, there are actually a few integrations that we have done most of it. We were able to do just simply by using some API's that Zoom has provided. So, one of the integration is called otter life notes, and this is more geared toward the meeting posts, and the way it works is that the moment that the Zoom host starts up a Zoom meeting or, or even zoom webinar. It will leverage the live stream capability of zoom to livestream the audio directly to the connected otter account, and therefore, anybody in the room would be able to access both the captions live captions as well as live transcript. So in that sense is automatically handled for you, so they're absolutely fewest steps for you, for the meeting host to have to handle at the beginning of the meeting, or webinar. And a second integration so that first integration order like notes is available to an otter business subscription user. The second integration is offered to any levels of auto user, so even the free plan is called St. Cloud recording. So if you have a Zoom account, and you have the ability to perform a cloud recording on your Zoom account, then otter will be automatically pulling all the cloud recordings from your Zoom account and transcribe it after the fact. So obviously, the second integration is not necessarily for the live transcription type of accessibility use case, but more for a meeting transcription notetaking use case. So those are a couple of options that we have with Zoom integrations today.
Right, cool. So yeah, it's great that using the capabilities of API's and stuff so obviously clubhouse does not have this functionality right now. But has there been companies that you've partnered with that doesn't have the API's where you have to like form some kind of partnership.
Yeah, so for for zoom, We also have half a partnership to power the built in, zoom integration as well. So, so zoom is has the ability to live transcribe. The only shortcoming bear is that the is a basic transcription, it does not support functionality like custom vocabulary that I mentioned earlier, that can further boost the accuracy for your specific organisation and for your specific domain. So that would be an example. All right, great partnership.
Oh sorry, internet stops after you stopped speaking. Sorry, continue.
Yeah, I'm done speaking. Thank you.
Thanks Simon. Thank you. Alright, let's get back to our speakers. Hi Eileen how's it going.
Hi, this is I mean, I'm doing well, thanks. Really enjoying the room and the discussion. I think it's really timely, since the app is growing in popularity. I'm certainly enjoying it and thinking about this topic, as, as I start to moderate some rooms. My question for the group is and maybe, particularly for for assignment is, whether there's any thought, I mean I think that when I, I would definitely, I would definitely be in favour of that integration, kind of as a user or moderator just to make the functionality, very seamless. But I'm also thinking about the governance and privacy aspect that may be concerning you know users, such as the one who was upset about a kind of a violation of that user agreement. And I'm wondering, you know if there's a even an interim kind of a policy approach that wouldn't require integration from otter. If I knew that I was creating, you know, more or less an official sanctioned transcript, via clubhouse, that I, you know that I could use for this purpose. It might make people more comfortable around. Let's say there are some rules about retention of that document or rules around how it can be used and some parameters or guidelines, you know that that I would know that that has been enforced approach that might alleviate some concerns I think, I mean, I think any user can obviously do whatever they want to in whether it's sanctioned or not. And you won't really be able to control that, you know any more than recording, you know YouTube videos or anything. But if I knew there was a sanctioned kind of approach with some support, that might make that might popularise the, the utility and not require a full tech integration. Thanks. This is Eileen I'm done speaking
in business Alec speaking. So, Yeah, I get where you're coming from when it comes to like official sanction, with, with clubhouses, if you don't want to run the risk of having your account either temporary early suspended. But I think the best option right now is for us to maybe call and reach out to clubhouse and say, Look, there is a need, definitely a need for a service like also like live transcription for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or even people who aren't really, you know, might not have the want to listen right now and don't want to follow along by text. And I think if we share how we, because I've run some rooms during the weekdays when it comes to voiceover Ness but I think because I'm fishing pat myself not, I'm not hearing bird I'm visually impaired. So we run these rooms on Thursday evenings at the same time talking about accessibility and how compounds can be a lot more accessible to visually impaired people and from those rooms, we sort of reached out to clubhouse and with the influence with the 15% club made that change for improvement. So I think the email. So, I have reached out to clubhouse myself, and a lot of people in those rooms has reached out to clubhouse and I think they are listening so it's good. If people hear if they think it's something that, like, a live, live transcription service is something that's needed to reach out to them and say, oh look, offers really good option, or something. And then, has some kind of make make that request through them, and I'm just going to quickly share how to make the request is support at join flophouse.com, which is the email address or you can use the contact form on the website, and they are very susceptible to feedback so I would encourage you to get in touch with Marshall Simon joumana, add anything to audience question.
This is the sound speaking Eileen, this is a very, very great input, I, I highly encourage everyone to be transparent about the, the intention and motivation and value that's being added by providing transcription. So if you are a content creator hosting a room in club house and you be transparent and announced that clearly both in the title and maybe every time when you reset the room you convey that to the audience, then that will, and basically be able to up level the value, you know you're providing a service to be able to have an inclusive experience but also if you, if you are opting for the option where you are also allowing the audience to live transcribe for note taking purposes. If you make that very clear and transparent and that will minimise the risk that a buddy would report the room because then the incentives and and benefits are all aligned, so it becomes a win win situation between the host, the content creator and the audience that's getting value from it. Oftentimes, let me give a very concrete example. I've been in a few rooms where it is a one of those. Ask me anything. Ama rooms, where there's a tonne of valuable questions, and lots of answers, and halfway into the room, there are audience members coming up and say, is anybody taking notes, can somebody start up a Google Doc and share it. Then everybody got stuck in there saying, Well, We are the hosts, and we're very busy moderating we don't really have time to type up the notes, and then the moderator would basically say, Well, if you'd like to volunteer to take notes, and share it, you're more than welcome to. Right, so obviously there is a very strongly that in the audio first type of clubhouse room experience. While it is very convenient to be able to, to exchange ideas and thoughts and knowledge through voice. There is that inherent need to be able to take notes, and also be able to provide accessibility to everyone. And I'm just so, so glad that we have a product that's able to make an impact and be able to deliver the value so, so, we would love to be able to help. And hopefully, if everyone's benefits are aligned and we're being transparent about it, and then we would be able to cap that voice, and also put put in that suggestion to the clubhouse leaders that there is that strongly, there is a need for this type of capability so see if they would listen and be able to take that into consideration in future updates of the policies, this assignment, and I'm done speaking.
Thank you so much, this is Alex speaking again. Yeah, so if you guys want to try out otter AI yourself. There is a free demo version which is 14 minutes. I think it's 600 minutes or 500 minutes a month assignment.
The free version is 600 minutes per month, and up to 40 minutes per recording.
Yeah, so the one, so if you want to see how well. Auto is performing right now, you can view this room that is being live transcribed right now by typing on my profile and go into my Twitter and my, it is my pin tweet. So if you want to give it a try. It wouldn't cost you anything. It's 40 minutes I know, sometimes your rooms will be longer, and that's when you will go in and pay for that subscription, I think, is it possible. How much is it roughly.
It's 999 is 1299 per month, and 9999 per year. Right,
cool. Okay, excellent. So, if you need that extra time or extra minutes. It's worth using. Not even just for clubhouse for for your business and things as well. It's just, I don't know. Thank you. All right. Yeah, so going forward. Let's go to max next Hi Max how's it going.
Hi Alex SMAC speaking. Thanks for bringing on book to the stage, I am the young male, white male with brown hair, brown eyes brown gear and blue collar shirt, standing in front of some buildings, and just wanted to, had a question and also a comment. My comment is, I've been using otter since last June, I believe, early May, and I can't thank you enough for me with my processing and disability and learning disability. This has made my life easier, going to meetings, transcribing I feel comfortable to be able to focus on the conversation in a hand and know that I'll have the notes afterwards. It's been unbelievable. For me, it made a huge difference in my life, because I've been, since I've been introduced otter and I even do have the Pro so I just want to say thank you for that. And I truly appreciate it, and I'm sure a lot of people in the community do as well. And my question is, I know there's some rooms, and only rooms but also people who you might go into meetings with are uncomfortable with recording. Is there any way to be like okay we're not making records to transcription and, and, you know, describe, record it, but is there a way to, you know, just after the notes are made that the audio might go away so they're not recorded unnecessarily. I was just curious about that because some people have been, have given me pushback when I brought it up because they're just uncomfortable being recorded, and then speaking.
Hi Max This is Simon speaking, Thank you so much for your testimonio and I'm so glad that you find value in using otter for your meetings, to answer your question. Currently, Otter does not have a way to automatically delete your recording after the transcription is done. But what you can do is that, you can export the transcript from the otter application, you can export it to PDF, Word, Microsoft Word document, you can export it to plain text. And that's one way that you can retain the transcript. After the transcription is done. and then you can easily just delete the recording from otter. So that would be one way that you can work around that, if that's a concern to your colleagues or to your peers who are being recorded as part of those meetings. So that's one workaround for you. Give that a try. This assignment and then speaking.
Thank you so much. Thank you, Max. Did I answer your question, Max.
Yeah, beautifully and I again can't fake thank you enough because, yeah, I just made a huge difference, and everyone right, I tell about tell about otterly, they're in leasing candidate, they're like oh I never heard of and they go to it right away and they tell me afterwards that they've loved it so it's thanks so much for this product and they. I know a lot of the treat grateful and then I'm speaking. Great,
thank you, Max, just to reset the room because I've noticed some new people has joined us. So today we're talking about how to make clubhouse, a little bit more accessible to maybe people with a hearing impairment, using otter.ai. For those who doesn't know what sort of AI is is a live transcription service that listens to audio and take notes on the fly. So if you want to check it out. Just go to otter.ai. We are also joined by Simon, who works at also the AI. And we're here to ship, different tips on Ask times more questions maybe on how to make the rooms a lot more accessible. So this room right now it's being live transcribed to access that live transcription please go to my profile. My name is Alex man probably on the top left of your screen and go to my Twitter and it's the pin tweet, and you can see how other transcription is doing. I've left it in another room so I'm not checking it actively so I'm not sure if Simon. If it's transcribing okay still with someone has called me I did turn on aeroplane mode, I'm not aeroplane mode was good. Do Not Disturb so hopefully it hasn't been any interruptions or anything like that. So yeah, if you have to be somewhat recorded is not really what it is a recording, please raise your hand and I'll work with you up to questions. With that said, let's get our next speaker. Hey shark.
Thank you Alex. I would, this is Jacques speaking, I would just like to add a comment more than question. So Simon I think otter in the value that it brings to both zoom and something like clubhouses, has been wonderful, I am. I don't have any accessibility issues but working in the museum world we, we want to be open to audiences and I know it's something that we look very closely to So over the past year with our zoom calls and stuff we've been looking at how otter might help with, with that. So my comment here though is, is that I haven't heard anything so a lot of the museum commerce, conferences that I go to we.
Sorry, I just, I was having a little nose on your part on that press the wrong button so if you unmute yourself and continue to mute.
I'm not sure at what point you all. I got muted so, so please help me out like what what do I need to recap,
you were asking the question, you were starting to ask the question about whether for muse for museum use cases, and that's where you got cut off.
Got it, got it. Okay, so I was, I was just saying that that otter has become a great resource for us in the museum world with our with our zoom calls that we've done and I've seen it, use multiple times across different venues and institutions. One thing that I've noticed those with some of the conferences that I go to, they will record, and these are in on site conferences that they will will record video and stuff for future and, but there are also sessions where they post Chatham House rules. So I don't I haven't heard any mention of that in this space, and it would be interesting if there were some sort of setting or something that would allow people to basically indicate that this room is, is essentially a safe space, I mean even though anything that's public and broadcast is you have to kind of use, use that with a grain of salt but the idea is that you can take the information that you learn from the session, but not use any of the identifying factors of the speaker or institution that may be talking so there's value in that the information can be dispersed and recorded in a way that doesn't reflect back on to the individuals and what's interesting is I haven't heard that type of platform of Chatham House rules being mentioned on clubhouse yet so I just wanted to make a comment on that, as well as just reiterate that I that I think that that otter has some great value to bring to accessibility audiences and audiences at large, and this is Jacques and I've done speaking Thank you.
Thank you job this static speaking. I'm going to answer one of your points where you're saying that having some form of anomaly. So I'm not going to try to say that. Where, where, where people won't be information provided won't be linked to an individual. I know clubhouse is really big on holding people accounted for. That's why this, when people ask, can we have like a like an invisible mode or something so when you come on to go into a room, people won't see you join, very useful people who might be, have a bit of influence, like a bit famous, but they did say that they want to hold everyone accounted for, so I don't clubhouse on really big on on that. But when it comes to ASO I'm not sure how that's going to be like. So I'm gonna answer.
Hey Doc,
thanks for the question. This is how the speaking, we do not have any specific Chatham House rule type of mode, directly built into the product. So I would absolutely. And same thing with, whether there are any legislations or regulations about recording so, so these types of compliance are really preferred to the users who are using the product using otter, to make sure that they announced the intention of how it's being used, and, and get the agreement, along with all the participants who are using the tool. So that would be one recommendation. Same thing in terms of club house, you know I don't work for club house but I've been in a lot of clubhouse rooms where there are, for example celebrities or guest speakers, and there's the sponsor that sponsoring the room. The sponsor, and then the meeting hosts the the clubhouse my hosts are very explicit and explicitly stated the that the room is being recorded as being sponsored by company XYZ and anything that when you come on stage, anything that you say would be the property of the sponsoring company. So, transparency is very important in terms of when you're moderating a room. But yeah, I have not heard anything specific about Chatham House rule, both in terms of top house or a other type of open live conferencing or video conferencing type of live streaming forum, so maybe that's a great topic they project for you to open up a clubhouse room and discuss about that, definitely a very good question. This assignment is done speaking.
Thanks for appearing Simon. Yeah, I think I dislike speaking. We'll probably finish off at the end of the hour. Nice one hour session that was really good, but don't do any questions, please raise your hand. And we invite you on to speak. This is being live transcribe but also AI will be really good to hear your suggestions and any questions you have for Simon. With that said done and that's good to know.
Hey everybody it's Mara, Chicago, I have kind of a, I don't want to say dumb.
I have a question that I don't know if it'll make sense, it so for me it's more of just remembering and then seeing it is like seeing it as super helpful and then like going back to it later, like is,
is there any,
any suggestion or any kind of way to only have like specific parts like, like for example I'm like pretend I was on a computer right and I like needed to remember. By, the first two sentences or something right like and I could press I'm totally making this up, but I could like press a button, and then that part could be like, the important part that I need to remember because like, for me it's more just memory and focusing and that kind of crap. If I'm making any sense at all. Is there something like that, I'm done speaking
experience do you mean, making a quick note like highlight during the recording, or that kind of thing. So you can go back. Yeah, yeah,
yeah.
Anything, anything close to that. Yeah, I think you'd have to do like the whole entire thing right and then
do like a highlight.
I'm not sure. Simon, I mean I'm still a newbie to, so there might be a feature but, as you might know it will be actually quite useful when you add in the you press a hotkey or something and it will mark the last one minute of conversation really important so you can jump to that, like, bookmark or something's. So to answer that, oh,
this is family speaking,
yes yes yes
and yes. Hi Maura, this is a great question yes
we
I understood your question perfectly. Oftentimes when you're listening to a talk or listening to a webinar listening to a very engaging conversation in clubhouse and you just really want to note it down, right, you want a very quick way to just to capture that part. Yes, you can do it two ways you can if you want to just at the moment, and press the record button really quick an otter than otter is instantly recording and transcribing that moment, but I would recommend that you actually start the recording earlier because by the time you've heard the sentence or some key points that is so important that you want to go back on, You probably would have missed it is kind of like the same thing that he saw something you pull out your phone and want to take a picture of it sometime you missed the moment so I would highly encourage you to just press record at the beginning of the session, or meeting or room or talk. And then there's a highlight button. So, at the lower right corner of the audit application, it has a button. I call it the lazy highlight or the Express will highlight button, so within one tap, it would instantly, highlight the last one or two sentences in the live transcripts so that you can go back and be able to listen to just those parts. At the top of the audit conversation, it would have an indication of how many highlights that you have done, let's say you've done 10 highlights you just press on 10 highlights, then the even lets you listen to just those 10 highlights. So, a one hour meeting with 10 highlights that adds up to only 10 minutes, guess what, you only need 10 minutes of your time to recap just that important, those important moments. So, yeah, please give it a try. It's called one tap highlight, You can just do that while you're doing the recording, and then you can go back and review those important moments this assignment and I'm done speaking.
Thank you so much. Hopefully that answered your question. Yes, thank you. That's
so awesome,
Thank you, I'm done speaking.
Right, so,
yes, we
don't have any more speakers,
speaking, sorry, Alex. Thank you so much. Simon, you're again here are just something it kind of occurred to me as the obviously this ship is being transcribed with all the best intentions and that's fantastic and obviously as I said earlier, it's something that I've done numerous times, because I believe in it for the important. Is there anything Altura doing to monitor, anyone that might be using the application to transcribe rooms without people's knowledge because it's something I've been, I guess fairly conscious of that, whilst I am talking in a public forum. And I guess often in private rooms that there is no way of me knowing if someone is sitting somewhere else transcribing what I'm seeing any given time and I didn't know whether that was something that your organization's monitoring. Thank you. You're good. I'm done speaking.
Hey, you're done speaking, we do not monitor users activity. This is our privacy policy that we hold to the individual users, as well as businesses who are subscribed to our product. So we do not look at what they record, we did not look at the content, the users and the customers, own the content that they use, that they use otter for this assignment I'm done speaking.
Thank you so much. Thank you again, this is Alex speaking, I mean, I wish, I mean, this is done, podcast, really, that I know clubhouse can't really tell any external recording, but there was just one time where I accidentally turned on screen recording I didn't know it was recording my screen still, and I wanted to clubhouse rooms and I get these red banners popping up on my screen now, and it's one of those banners that aren't accessible with VoiceOver. So that was this red banner that I'm going into another room and it's still red banner so quickly do the screen recognition on VoiceOver, and it's like the warning recording of admission will lead to banning or whatever, but also Oh no. I wonder if all those mods that I get went into those rooms, notice I was recording, because that would be not cool because I didn't mean to, and then it's this weird guides coming into room and recording, but I asked some friends to test it with me. So when we turn on screen recording. The Mods aren't notified such reason, I wish that if someone else was recording using the screen recorder on the iPhone if clubhouse can detect that, obviously, it can't because it was giving me warnings, it would notify the mod saying, oh, this person is recording, and I think that will be a nice step forward, because obviously they can't, they can't tell if you're pointing a phone at a microphone, like I'm doing today. I'm Alex and I'm not speaking and saying that I'm the only one. I guess I'm modding as well so I can't do that. So, yeah, that'd be good if clubhouse had some kind of responsibility with that as well. Did you want to say anything else. Yes.
So this assignment speaking, I guess another analogy would be, there's really no stopping anybody to use your phone, it's default voice recorder or any other application to do recording so right now it's, it's really just up to the individual user who is doing the recording to be responsible and if they do use the recording for any, you know, to to leak it out and share it out and then at that moment, you know, someone would be able to track it down so. So I see that this is a, this is about concern, but really there are so many devices so many applications out there that anyone can use to do recording. So just want to caution. The best practices in terms of how you record responsibility. Make sure that you are following the local jurisdiction of your, of where you're sending and done speaking.
We've been off speaker on stage here. Hey, how's it going.
Hi, everyone. Thank you, Alec, for welcoming me to the stage to ask a question. My question is, I am hard of hearing. And I am also a sign language interpreter. So I feel that otter AI would definitely benefit me, especially when I'm interpreting during zoom calls. So I have a couple of questions. My first question would be, of course during zoom calls where we've already set up the format for people to say their name, and that they're the person that speaking, then I would know who the speaker is at that moment. But I'm just wondering if otter ai ai has the capability of also doing some type of voice recognition, so that I would be able to read, who the person is that speaking while I'm interpreting for that person. And my second question is also how does otter AI handle overlap of conversation because I find that that's one of the things that's challenging during my work. And there's so many questions. Thank you.
I'm done speaking.
Thank you Donna for your question, this assignment speaking. Yes, so both of these. Both of these are frequently asked features that are on our roadmap so the first one, let me just repeat the first one being that during the live transcription, the ability to identify speakers, live so that you can see who set what currently otter supports post meeting a post recording, speaker identification so it does not do that in real time yet, but hopefully fingers crossed is coming sometime later this year that we will be able to do that live. The second question is the ability to remind me again. Donna was the second one. Yes. This
is Donna speaking. My second question is how does otter AI handle conversation overlap when there are multiple people sort of kind of speaking over one another I mean until one person, then is speaking so how does it handle that conversation overlap of, I guess, working that out.
Yep, so that is absolutely a very challenging problem that we're working on, and that's a no longer term roadmap. This is a, it's not easy for even human to be able to, when they're multiple peoples speaking and overlapping, it's hard to discern as well but it is a very difficult technical problem that we are up for the challenge to solve. But in the meantime right now, we find that over 90 95% of the conversations are non overlapping so thankfully for the majority of the use cases that should not be a big problem, but yes this is certainly a challenge that we will overcome in the future. Longer term roadmap, this assignment, and I'm done speaking.
Thanks Simon Thanks Donna, designing speaking. Thank you for everyone who came up on stage today and listened. But almost during that hour, I'll probably have one more. Maybe one more question if anyone wants to ask one more question. But as we, as a closed room, I guess, if, if it's something that's you are interested, I would definitely check out also.ai for not just clubhouse but maybe for your work meetings or definitely your zoom calls work as I heard it was really good with Zoom, and there's a free trial demo for 14 minutes each session and 600 minutes a month as well. If you want to try out and check it out I don't know Simon's very positive with responding to questions. So feel free to give him a follow and reach out to him on Twitter or maybe. And he's happy. Normally happy I'm putting words in his mouth, but I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure he's, he'll be happy to answer any questions you have, I have. So, so there's no more questions. Our guests will go ahead. Yep, go ahead. Speaking.
So I'm just curious this sometimes like have phone calls that are like, not on zoom that relate business does the otter app like on your phone transcribe as well if you've let's say you're in a phone call. On a phone call, and then speaking.
This person is speaking. Hey Max yes for phone calls. What you can do is you can use another device to record with otter. So, this is actually a limitation on the iOS and Android platform itself. No other third party applications can record phone calls period. So this is not unique to otter. So, since otter is supported on iOS, Android, and any web browser, then that means you can always use a tablet use another user laptop use your computer to open up otter.ai on a web browser and press record, while you put the phone call on speaker mode so that would be the workaround that I would suggest for you to record phone calls this assignment and I'm done speaking, actually one more point I want to raise otter is also integrated with Google meat. You can download the free Google Chrome extension to record and transcribe your Google meat calls as well. So we have done two integrations we have done the Zoom integration and we've done the Google meat integrations and we're looking forward to continue to expand and support, any type of conversations that you have, whether it's in person, online, on virtual meetings. And so hopefully that's helpful to everyone. This assignment I've been speaking.
Thank you, Simon, this is Onyx speaking. But you have one more question before the room almost speaker before the room closes actually. So, hey well how's it going,
very good, did a quick question. And I'm not sure if I'm in the right area but I'm going to ask. I'm a voice over user I don't know if anyone's familiar with VoiceOver. Do you know how to get the Twitter connection to work it seems that every time I do it, it throws glitter but it seems like that function actually doesn't work.
Real quick on ask a question, just like this is Adriana speak well if you log out of your Twitter account on your phone and then re log in, and then try to connect it usually works.
So by going to the Twitter app on the phone and log in or this was for you
to log out of your Twitter account, re log in to your Twitter account, and then try connecting, and that seems to do the trick for other people,
not expecting, I'm just, just, just to. Before you do that actually try turning off voiceover and scrolling up with one finger, and then that will take you to the bottom, and then turn was back on that button should now be highlighted and it's not no longer with them, but if that doesn't work,
that actually has
worked I heard that in another group and that does work and when I do that, all it does is bring me either into the Twitter app or bring me into something on safari but under the connected apps, it never shows clubhouse.
Right, okay. Right, so, yeah, try, try, aduanas option that because that's the option. No, because that's a common question that I get in my voiceover hack rooms as well. I run them every Thursday.
Adriana great Facebook groups.
The one from Macedonia, she's not from us.
Adriana Mallozzi, yes. Okay,
yeah, yeah, you're
in some of the Facebook we're in a bunch of Facebook groups together.
Oh, interesting. Okay, well yes, that is me.
So you also have vision like but the vision now
mobility. So I actually use voice control. Oh, control the phone and a mouse operating joystick that acts as a bluetooth mouse who I actually I developed. So yes, that is how I operate my mobile devices.
I guess Yeah, I think
you were in Boston, if I remember I think I met Yeah,
but we want, um, well we can check in another room. Okay. After we kind of want to shut this room down.
Did you say you have a question for assignment before.
Thank you so much for doing this. I knew the 15%. I see that you are connected with MIT as well. So that's awesome. Um, I guess we're only like a year apart because my year at. I went to BC and I, my year was 99 And so, we are in Boston together at the same time, did not larious. But my question for you, Simon is. Are you or do you guys plan on integrating it with discord like creating a bot. For discord because that would be amazing Hinton and others behave.
Hi, Adriana so glad to hear that we were in Boston, during the same years just glad that I'm unable to meet you here. We do not have any near term plan to integrate with discord. At this time, but it's certainly one of the asks from the community. So we'll certainly consider that in the future. This is something that's done speaking.
Thank you. And thanks again and I'm speaking, Alex, you can
actually, I think, as a difficult user that we really handy as well so if it helps answer, they'll be really good, but to have, and very useful to a lot of people I think, especially those who uses discord for some kind of meeting. I don't know, some podcast because I know a lot of people play d&d and bonded on Discord so transcripts want to podcast, Really, really good idea. So thank you everyone for joining this room. Yeah, just to reiterate, we've been talking about otter.ai You can check it out as well, by going to the website, there's free demo for 14 minutes, and I think the best practice right now when we're using clubhouse is to have a secondary device log into otter.ai for your web browser on your computer, point your microphone, ideally not your internal mic, I use an external mic. As the secondary device go. And this is only for people who use VoiceOver, if you don't use VoiceOver and you're, you're in a really quiet area, feel free to use your personal primary device, and have it, broadcasting and then do what I've done is tweet about it, and then pin it to your face so you can tell who's connected around to check out your profile, and go to your Twitter, and click on the link that way. So, thank you very much everyone. And wish us. I should see some of you, I guess, this Thursday I need to tell Adriana all my answers are scheduled on Thursday at 8pm. UK time. Thanks. Thank you, Alex.
Thank you Alex. Thank you, Adriana. Thank you.
thank you.
All right, Bye,
Bye everyone. Oh,
I forgotten that this was still going on. I'm so sorry I probably wasted lots of your minutes. Let me go and turn this off quickly, I know it renews in five days so it's not too bad but still, I sort of forgot about this.
