remarkable timeframe to be put in. I mean to be in that position. Right. It is so tiny that
started it is in with no. That I think one thing that we kind of pride ourselves on is no corporate backing. Yeah, it's it's just all subscriber base. Yeah, maybe 5% donors, but it's very small.
How many subscribers do you have to you know,
last I checked about 1.7 million amazing. Yeah, it's really great. Yeah. Thank you. We're rolling. Okay.
Okay. It's Aaron Houchin. Transcript. A lot of people don't. Congresswoman Aaron Houchin. Thank you so much for taking a moment.
Happy to be here. Of course.
I want to get your thoughts on the Israel Ukraine package. There's a lot of, you know, discontent in the House and the Senate on this. Where are some of the biggest sticking points? Well,
first of all, I would say that there is an Israel supplemental already in the Senate, the House passed and Israel supplemental already it's waiting on the Senate to take action, they could absolutely do that if they wanted to. It is available. In terms of any type of package deal on a supplemental that involves Ukraine there. There are some serious concerns about how money is being spent in Ukraine. And whether and how we attack that the war in Ukraine, I think we have to have a military first strategy, not a lead from behind strategy like we've had with Joe Biden. But our national security starts with our border. And we have to take care of our own border before we can deal with any of these other issues. And so we have a border bill, also sitting in the Senate waiting on the Senate to pass that the tools are all available. We need the Senate to act.
I want to ask you about the border in just a minute. But you mentioned accountability. It seems like a very reasonable request. But are you facing some sort of pushback from from your Democratic colleagues on this?
Yes, I would say we're facing pushback from our Democratic colleagues. You know, again, we have asked for accountability. That's not that much to ask. So far, we have only heard more money, more money, more money, and the answer can't just be continuing to send money with with no account for it. Speaking
of the border, you know, Secretary Mayorkas is likely to be impeached. At least the vote will come. Do you think there will be enough votes in the House to impeach him?
I'm hopeful there'll be enough votes. I think that there are certainly Republicans there certainly Republican support for impeaching Mayorkas for his failure at the border. I mean, the number one job of the the Department of Homeland Security is to defend our nation from our greatest threats. We've led an 8 million people, if only 1.6 million got aways, if only 1% of those are intend to do harm that 16,000 people that could be here within the borders of the United States intent to do harm on 911. It was 19 hijackers. So the problems that are border are substantial. I would hope that Democrats would join us in taking action to impeach me orcas as well. So
we're obviously in a big election year. We're seeing that this issue. The border issue is now becoming the number one issue for even Americans in the interior, not border states. You're in Indiana, pretty far north. What are you hearing from your folks there?
You know, I say every state's a border state from the first time I visited the border. I was down in Eagle Pass a year ago. And then again, just recently, it's 1200 miles from the border in my district. But it is a border state because of fentanyl that's come across the border. We've lost 200 More than 200 Hoosiers to fentanyl poisoning. And that is a direct result of Joe Biden's policies or failure to secure our southern border. So yes, every state is experiencing this some more than others. sanctuary cities in particular are rethinking their approach toward being a sanctuary city because they're completely overwhelmed. 8 million people have been led in this country under Joe Biden. That's a million more people than the entire state of Indiana. That's a big problem. And we've got to face it.
So this has been a very big week. In Washington. There's a vote scheduled tonight for another bipartisan tax bill. There's a little bit of concern from some of the House Freedom Caucus members that this will expand the child tax credit to illegal immigrants. Talk to us if you think this will get passed in and address some of those concerns.
Sure. I don't know that this tax package will do exactly what the Freedom Caucus has asked or is claiming that it will do what I what I will say is that there's 10 to one benefits Republicans in this tax package over what is offered in exchange for the Democrats and we will be considering a bill that makes social security fraud a deportable offense so we have I think Taken together these two bills the deportable offense for social security fraud and this tax package I hope would alleviate some of those concerns
Congresswoman Erin Houchin thank you so much thank you fantastic
