for high school and service schools and their apartments right in the center of our community and just give you a little background so we can talk to
me which organization says exactly what you have to talk about
and we're going to be as our presentation solutions
Good afternoon
Can you hear me in the back this
deep breaths, kicks and punches
summer in O'Hare Park on our own last year. This is neighbors program
so part one, we're going to talk about our multi faceted treatment of problems.
You can see
this is a large poster remains on the slides that we handed out and will be placed in those students districts.
And they stayed up all summer
long, multifaceted recruitment approach kinda like the south of that. But what it really means is we have social media outreach. We have the Empowered ambassadors.
You so Basler Morris was a student of karate and martial arts in Ferndale and also was a assistant instructor for the martial arts for children's
we had healthy house on this picture.
Good probably understand that
on social media
engagement slider on went around 8000 of them in our square mile.
4300 households O'Hare Park Community Association as at the time weekly, newsletter by email and we use the text and other persons as well. And during the ongoing program.
attendances were called or texted prior to each class as a reminder, and occasionally with thunderstorms coming to class is going to be postponed or canceled.
So the offerings would have to do with your life picture.
Martial arts for children.
Basketball, free play and nature. This little girl is very excited about the home Hills she discovered
social media outreach really started close to zero. So the increases are very dramatic, but it probably reached 14,500 people and part of that was because we are engaged with the city of Detroit looping on some of our messages. And I believe that would attract to Detroit carpet carts coalition and a couple of Detroit also to spread the word
one of the things you may have noticed on the flyer is you can see the picture was this QR code so we felt strongly that we wanted to gather information from people who were interested to become part of class. So we have some statistics. 190 people pre registered before all of the different programs 22 We estimate or walkups during the summer, there were 56 different individuals and 238 attendants all together one of the reasons the figures we felt was because we really didn't start recruiting in the way we wanted, which was we would like to visit the schools and have more time to spread the word through the game in our community we found you have to contact contacts need to build the trust, especially the younger families who may or may not have been as long as some of us older residents interestingly, only 30 to 50% of the pre registers participated at least once but we were still getting the information for follow up.
And five we can go on site were turned away as much as class kids was full. And because this was unexpected, we should capture their information to perhaps guide them into some other program or something we could work with so that pretty much reflects our
we have learned lesson flight where we should place a sign how early we would like to start.
President aircard Community Association Thank you Suzanne
secretary, she's worn a lot of hats. But she's heavily invested in anything natural nature, and definitely has been a long standing and staff member and support our community association so they can listen to you dude.
She ain't going nowhere.
Alright, so the next slide getting into the ATM
this is when she was our instructor for martial arts.
Is it shochet shochet to wrap it up from the magician Martial Arts Academy.
All right, next line.
So, this is the part I'm gonna go into that I want to mention a couple of things about the outcomes positive outcomes.
So 2020 for us on the program. Our goal was to further expand we'll be starting in 2022 Having more than our residents to enjoy more of the city six, seven.
Put in our car Thank you very much.
And I really like certain rare programming that encourages wellness and a place to socialize. Save something unexpected happen. But it was real significant as an arm that extended the summer.
The program participants that attended some of that became involved with volunteering at our some of our future events.
Specifically we have an annual scanner from here celebration and yes, it will show up it wasn't before through the summer program. So no.
We saw tremendous growth from last year with Don French and this is in yami for this one. Share that yourself as I look in the elbow, all of that stuff that you mindfulness and all that healthy stuff. Definitely another one of our very strong style longtime residents.
We saw attendance and growth last year from the people that actually hail from our neighborhoods. So this drop is for us and we're very proud of the attendance that actually
so here's the martial arts for children. This is also was expanded and we did see growth in this in the attendance here. And as I've already mentioned before, this is 13 grand Well, we're number hanshi which is the instructor also with the veto board boards, which you saw that video and this young lady right here. Her name is Kennedy. She's gonna pop up somewhere else because Kennedy was in multiple activities.
And I love it. So Kennedy started with martial arts in 2022, which then got rolled back committed to martial arts, which then also got her to come back here too. And we're looking for you to be coming up in 2018.
So this is healthy muscle. And as you can see, we have a lot of different age groups of residents that are here so we've got a couple of video clips for you.
Let's play this because we even have justice involved
this, my understanding is that that little Walker went right to the to the speaker doesn't really want to get the full effect that
next month.
So basketball, this is Coach Joe
business neighborhood.
And you see his shirt.
That's Can you kidding listen to three different activities that we have
you have a long standing another last thing in the morning. Was granddaughter was also hard.
That's why I was really happy. One day it was assemblage one two she likes.
That boy was feeling embarrassed that she had been rolling.
She has put us down first.
Okay, next slide. So this is the free play that they can
tell so a lot of times what happened was on Wednesday for the kids, so they would come early and we do free play. They would do nature they would do martial arts. I mean they were there like football game and some of the parents really enjoyed that.
As you can see it's open to all excellent.
So this has been major activity so this is
this was a new program where our very own stellar she was on hand to extract the students nature of the park observation skills and how the various ecosystems work. In the first picture, right here. She's illustrating motos and then giving them that information of how this one arm what you do with them. If you can deter both of
us that as an illustration to get into nature activity
and then the last
plastic that goes around the six pack.
She's cutting that rock because what happens when they get into the water and ultimately whatnot, they trap the animals in all the animals in the sea so she's kind of going up so that wherever they end up they say they're going
to harm or harm
so we're gonna do a quick recap and then on Vice President is taking part three.
But what I'd say this, the participant so we did a brief survey and we did a post survey.
And let me recap a few of the things that came on findings in the post survey. So the post survey, it was heavily that the participants enjoy. They found that the activities are fun. They found that they learned new and better skills within the activity.
They were able to make friends expand their social network. They love their instructors love their instructors and they love being outside and there was just this commonality of positive energy and love amongst everyone. So hopefully that doesn't resonate with a lot of other activities that our association is going to move forward into. And then another one was, and this goes to different age groups that we were trying to capture some of that information to specifically as it pertains to communication to a large, vast significant number to include even my 80 and 5960 plus.
So that some of these findings from the surveys also help us to, you know, conduct what we're gonna do in the future how we mold our communications plan.
So that's why fiction questions typically ended that's okay, it's for shorter presentations.
Choice.
When you look at these
three things.
One is this
easier to see this tire and you see these pipeline
challenges. How can we shape it? People not racking their cards, leasing their dogs and actually not fireballs. These are issues these are challenges that you're gonna have in every part of the country. Next year we were breaking down the different challenges in different spots in recruiting started in May.
We wanted to start before school because we got bigger schools in our community and was our vision that we're going to go to each school that happens programs that that the parents know something they're planning for summer vacation, that they know that they've got these two weeks or three weeks here in the park.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to get to the schools before and that was the challenge and I think we're under some sort of contract that we could release that you get the grant for this until the end and that was a hotel which is a part of US companies.
We also target other residential places.
to senior citizens arise close in your neighborhood. This is a great thing for grandparents to be able to get their kids to their grandchildren for the summertime and so forth activity for them to go to and be targeted.
But since we're less than that, it's important
to give people time to the defendants in the beginning of these programs we get towards the end of August, now we got to get our stuff with the ACS and that goes to the shopping definitely does get into that and we found ourselves going down to who really are able to get their families enough time to plan and we could have had enough
and that's what I want you guys to look at. Scheduling was another. Now I don't know about you guys, but summer vacation, be in your pajamas and prepare to go outside.
But now it's a whole different thing. Our kids are locked into those stories. They have to be almost kicked out the house to go play and even then we'll want to work in a safe spot we'll get we'll send them a block away or two blocks away when fees are challenging as far as schedule. We need our programs. Early in the day for tuition. We weren't waking up at 10 o'clock.
No mobile phone.
We figured the premiere time is between two and
four prepared for these programs to how they feel about going out with limited to talk foreign foreign minister trying to focus on children. So that's why it's safely say these people are parked in their cars. And since we have such a large department that's a ongoing problem. Even though Parks and Recreation GSLV vehicles continue to tracks bands to attend to the combat form and so forth and of course by
solid seals and stuff stop and feel indebted on the other side of our of our 40 mark for the current market. But that's not enough. Okay, so in god's ears, etc platform.
So
that's step one has a neighborhood unity and we really have to call that 411 number to get our partners out. Make Your Money stand that start having a misprint the first stopping in the book before you know embedded let's
say we're talking about cars when Vichy our global warming Yellow Jackets give us every time take on those yellow jackets because he is wonderful from will run from valid to run into person who will require some tracks and put them all out shelter out of their income the dad I think we only had maybe one or two
right but but that is a problem when you're dealing with kids and nothing what you need what you get is epic, first birthday and city for another large organization supervisor because things do happen so our public, public enemy this this was really difficult for a salon and then we have something that we call community accountability.
Our organization is 10 years old. Our Park was just dedicated.
It took us maybe about six years but a lot of T shirts being very showing them that
they keep this province and develop this park, maybe four years before the accident.
And it gave us the plans because we had bills to show to the city where God said we want to do this and then we decided we would steal the parts of the part of the body back but we stayed on until the
end it was like getting to sit down. Go go to the end of the line where you have something to deal with the city. You get back to them every time they eat, let them know that this is your problem. You got to comply you got to understand that this is what we need for you.
They have asked us well, you know we build it and we didn't have any idea because 80 acres of forest and nobody there's nothing out there but that old plastic sleeves that are steel slats only thing out there, you know and nobody but we'll see we'll do the soccer field. So for football fields when a child doesn't play what was the name of
our football
last Cougars Northwestern Cougars
championship
this was one thing that we weren't able to see how could we show
people are appreciating even though we see issues, doors, fireworks damage in our courts, to doing slides to show that these communities are bomb shelter, and notice that this class is legalized marijuana should be legalized in place equal smoking.
Okay, so where's that gone right there, you know, and a tick tick off the bat cigar for those who are not familiar with all the combat will have an end to me. It's almost like the word crisis.
So
it's all around me.
Good for kids.
Harper was the character you want to do. You know, we're not trying to Elise we're just trying to get to this place so everyone can enjoy. So we put them in the box and sanitize you girls basketball team they will begin building and we will hold our breath as well was to put it out that
this pitcher was telling the seven first not only did they use to grow in that space put it back in the box yes
one family of six another family of five that's in our car, of course the dogs, but digging up the trash and using the dustpan in order to make that happen. This person was accountability. We didn't have that problem.
Say from June to to December.
Let's start. So with that would five minutes or less want to ask more questions?
Public Library
so it should be vying for your
attention.
So
you may have
towards the end but also greater to programming. Did you get a program every day? Four to six or was an interesting
question about programming
on the first question
we had one specifically with children's programs
for a nap is pointing to the same day was the day that the neighbor's basketball and free trade are scheduled. So Wednesday was the day in the park. None of the other programs
watching
right now limited
time
in Iran Islamic State or uniswap.
So I do believe
hospitals on Tuesday, just trying to remember.
Yoga was on Thursday.
Walking Club was on Friday I did walking club just freaked me out like what just people come meet me at the shelter six o'clock and then he does have a mob and it could be depending give or take what we could do one because we were trying to care. So the youngest commandment the elders, they want to get some activity in so just to walk in their pace. However way however way we're gonna cut the pace. That's how you win on Friday night.
free registration was definitely highly, highly encouraged. Because we wanted to make sure we got the waivers out we have all that information on the fun and we also want to get to the pre survey so to get an idea of what they're what they're going to look at what what they're trying to get out of the program. And then again, like I mentioned earlier, we actually have post surveys which our decision to publish and some interesting findings which I did recapitalization.
We might have maybe one more question before we have to set the standard and the other questions. Yes.
Thank you, Jana medley from the Johannesburg partnership My question is how to program our lives or communities or public spaces. Polls tend to dominate. So what are some of the things that you did to continue to engage people where you want to
go my organization is working hard to try to actually be in a community center. I'm gonna have to ask a lot of money. But we do have a building in our area that can also repurpose and probably stuff that we do in design. So the question at this present.
Day they can, you know, use beautiful faces
okay
so to answer your question, we really don't have any is it something that we want to ask?
Year
from that conversation, there were people talking about us.
Department of Natural Resources, allow us to ask for some money to help improve our wooded area that wasn't set before we have 80 acres of which 28% of it is the natural resource and so on. This is why I love coming out of this and now I'm
