The personal decision that is best left up to a woman and her doctor, not members of the General Assembly. This proposed legislation from Senate Republicans is an all out ban on abortion with narrow exceptions, which will have a draft which will have drastic consequences for women, especially women of color and low income women who are already disproportionately impacted by mental health care access. Indiana's terrific maternal mortality instead of punishing women for getting pregnant by restricting access to a safe and common health care procedure, we should be focused on advancing our state's health care infrastructure to help women get the care they need. Whether that's to prevent pregnancy or to stay healthy during pregnancy and helping Hoosiers get back on their feet financially. At the very bottom worship and ultimately a member of the Indiana Republican governor way and all worship women will die. That doesn't sound like a pro. pro life wins. We had a tough week in the House Democratic Caucus to do everything in our power to protect a woman's right now I'd like to turn it over to the
thank you for your God. If you ever occurred to you the honest thing the nation holds a special session on abortion. We were scheduled to be here to provide economic relief for struggling users. But the simple majority has taken this as an opportunity to erode away the human rights by stripping away the unfortunate Republican healthcare. This isn't the beginning of a process that is successful, will have deadly outcomes. Pregnant women in the state of Indiana had already had our high maternity maternal mortality rate. That's why Democrats in this body, our brain to fight with everything we've got for who should win and for families who deserve the freedom to make their own decisions about their family planning. And reproductive considerations. Without gov doesn't interfere. The freedom to privacy to establish that established under Roe has protected users for 50 years. And my comments will be fighting for what voters want which is for the Indiana legislature to leave private medical decisions to Hoosiers in the dark. Thankfully, Reverend Reverend in our state, having had a bit of a system reversal of Roe and they have been amazingly relentless in making their voices heard. Even today we see many people gather in our statehouse. Today the State House is packed with 1000s of our citizens who want to make it clear that the super majorities effort to push a total ban through the legislature is not the will of the people, men and women will not go fight with each other. And Democrats in the State House, hear the cries of health care workers women and whose families do not support the Republicans reproductive policy as they're prepared to fight against this unpopular vision. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris, for taking time from her global schedule to join us again again, to bring awareness to our fight for women's health care. This is going to be a long hard battle that my caucus will be standing with women across the state in the nation every step of the way. In this critical fight with privacy, liberty, and life saving health care access to protect your heart
Thank you Vice President Kamala Harris, is this true again? Although I can't say this is for the best circumstances. I would love my state to be in the spotlight on poverty. Unfortunately, we're here because that Supreme Court made a bad decision as it relates to abortions. And Republicans in my state Indiana, have decided to make restrictions on the state's medical procedure. Just a few weeks ago, Indiana made enemy's national headlines because a 10 year old child was forced to compromise or endorsement. She was able to get that state medical procedure right here in Indiana. She is invited why should we force things to happen? So this really isn't about rights to life. This is about controlling birth. Because if a wife or children didn't move, then we will be taking care of children who are already here. Year after year, Democrats fight to protect programs and services for families and children. As a matter of fact, we can't even get a bill passed on pregnancy accommodation. Why is not just being born. It is also your quality of life and the dignity the person has, what their data will be able to share return after the break in Indiana is the third highest in the nation and 44 verbs for 144 deaths per 100 damage is estimated the man in Indiana will lead to a 21% increase in the number of pregnancy related deaths overall. For black women. That number is 33% This is a is a crisis that is killing black woman and twin a half times health disparity with less was amplified. These berries are something that African American community as long for some common sense a portion is a medical procedure. It shouldn't be interested in women make a woman for herself and not be generous and mostly man for clueless about what women are 50 years women have had the right to enforce their pride was carelessly taken away by the US Supreme Court. We are the country of freedom and liberty except when it comes to when making decisions.

Thank you and good luck, excited and grateful to you for taking time out. To punch in the air and shine the national spotlight on what is happening and nothing happened in the state of Indiana over two thirds of the country or maternal maternal mortality. And African American moms are 243% more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth related causes that might limit and yet it's everywhere. Mortality rate at the sacrifice of black babies in Indiana died at 2.5 and two and a half times the rate of whites. This is not okay. I don't frighten for community. And I am angry that Republicans not only continue to ignore these real life and death situation for family, particularly for white families and then the public on our stand to be doubling these dangers. By removing abortion as the maternal health care option. I am extremely concerned for the lives of women. Total abortion ban similar to the one proposed by Indiana Republicans and typical one will lead to a 21% increase in the number of pregnancy related deaths overall and a 33% increase on black women. This is not included deaths resulting from attempted abortion and potentially dangerous unlicensed facilities. Lack of abortion access in a state with an already abysmal maternity care system will kill. What Republicans want to do by placing a very restrictive ban on abortion access will have a devastating effect on the body. As a woman and a black woman I reject but I see a rapid movement and terrorism and our rights to reproductive freedom. I stand ready to continue the fight to protect the health and safety of all

must be appointed. We appreciate your leadership and we certainly are honored to have the vice president here. We know the Supreme Court decision to adopt versus Jackson Women's Health Organization effectively stripped away American freedom to make your own health care decisions and only bills about abortion. Every situation of pregnancy is different. We trust the people politicians to make their own decisions about their lives. For Republicans overturning roe is only the beginning. They're very extreme agenda includes plans to criminalize abortion across our country. And next week we'll take a look at other basic human rights including House Democrats in Congress and in Indiana, are fighting with radical and reckless GOP agenda. This is a crisis situation. The devastating impacts are being felt across the Black Caucus and a woman who's your representatives and legislators here, as well as the vice president who has shown tremendous leadership. That was a remarkable tribute to take time out of your very busy schedule to come to the Great Western State and standard
thinkers and vice versa is so an honor to have you here with us today. Really and just threw this together a couple weeks ago. Similar conversation. And I just want to say that I really do appreciate your leadership on this issue, and really for all that you are doing to fight regret reporting. There.
Thank you. Thank you, Representative James. The representative came to visit with me in Washington, DC
