rally come back. Well, as I said the other day. Leads get blown all the time and it's late. And you just got to hang in there. You really did. I thought we hung in there. We didn't have much. Didn't think we played with any pace in the first half. Zero physicality. No, we talked about playing in aerospace. And every shot we had a gap. I thought in the second half, we got up, we pushed the ball up the floor we made catches harder. They were later in the clock. We got misses. And it allowed us to play games since he got here, but particularly special Jesse's been great. I mean, listen, and I said it the other day, this is a generational player score that has taken and decided to be a point guard still scores. But to be a point guard for this team. And that's hard to do. A lot of people, most people can't do that or will not do it is a better way of saying it. That That and the fact that he is willingly doing it, running the team organizing this is huge for us, you know, and I thought there was a lot of guys tonight James was awesome. And Joelle Tobias shakeout a great stretch for us, Paul Reed, and that stretch was huge for us. I mean, it was one of those wins, where everybody who played did something to help us win. That was a good team. When did you say something to the bench guys? Because they came out with a lot of energy. And I said some to everyone at halftime. We just We didn't play. We weren't we weren't playing right. That's not who we been. I think it was funny. I liked her eyes at halftime. I really did. I thought within the first half, we did miss a lot of wide open shots. But everything was half court because they scored. I think they were shooting 60% at halftime. You're not gonna win that game. So I just thought everybody you know, we did grab the bench and say, Listen, you guys come in and we made an adjustment we put we kept James back in with the bench and Tobias to start the third quarter. I thought that was a good move by us. No, that was all the Anthony. You know, we trap Kawhi down the stretch and Paul down the stretch. But other than that, it was more than
seemed like both teams kind of had to make that decision.
Yeah, that's exactly right. We did great, but it's the game of chicken. You know, because we both both teams have shooting. And you know, that stress when they went small, we had oil in their truck and we got great shots. The stretch and we trapped they got a couple of good shots, too. You know, I was still employed jumps you can't jump when you're traveling because now you can't get back down and rotate. And that's how they got to one layup but other than that I liked how we trap. Quads pretty clever. kept trying to pull it back to drag us out. We told our guys once he pulls it out, get out go we'll take the one on one from there Yeah, I think he is arm Assam nothing bad. We're gonna go smaller. What would more spacing anyway, at that point.
This game kind of had a little bit of resemblance to the first game against the Lakers in that last minute or so.
Yeah. Did you feel like you saw the adjustments? Yeah, I thought we handled it. Well. Tonight, you know, got Joelle the ball in the basket held on to the ball. I didn't like the floaters. You know. So I love where we're at in our spots. I just didn't know the Anthony's pass was like a knuckleball to Joe, which had some pace probably gets it down. But other than that, I like what we did. Really good tonight. I didn't hear the heartbeat pick and roll. Yeah, it was great. Like kind of pick his spots and going all the way into the room. How do you feel like their chemistry in that? It's great. And tonight, you know, they had a big in zoom in so they didn't want to switch that right. So you know, we went in the game where we kind of had a pretty good idea who to attack and pick and rolls you know, Zoom even though he's a hell of a defender but it allows our guards to go down and then you know, canard more I mean, we knew where we wanted to go with the ball tonight and I thought that in the second half really showed us it isn't the best. I think they're playing well together. I mean, numbers wise it clearly is the best. But I just think they have a great chemistry right now and it's just gonna keep growing.
playing competitive
Oh, yeah, I think for us, you know, the Clippers have been together a while I've been through A lot of stuff though they've had injuries. We can't have enough of these. I'd rather have 20 Point games, honestly. But these games are good for us. Everyone we get in, we learned something. And, you know, not only just as far as x and o's and schemes, but also rotations in certain different games. So I love these games. Christmas, Your Honor, I guess it is for NBA teams. Yeah, yeah, it's an honor. It really is. I you know, I try not to date you, I swear I've had, I've played in too many of them, in some ways. And as a coach, you forget how special it is for players. And, you know, early on one of our guys, who was going to play obviously told me how excited he was about a week ago. And honestly, I had forgotten about it. Like, he was so mad. I've never played in a Christmas day game. I'm so excited. And when I was hearing him, I was like, I was thinking and then when I thought about it, I said, Yeah, we should never take these for granted. Major, you're doing a good job. Your players are doing a good job. We got a good team people want to see you. You know, it is a sacrifice, obviously. But it's it's an honor. And so, you know, I can't take it for granted. Neither can I please? Thanks. Good. Thanks, guys.
