I'm sorry, looks like new recording. Alright, so there you go. For those of you who can see the live transcript that's showing it is transcribing what I'm saying. And what I usually do as a practice is I'd copy the room title, so I'm copying. So I go back to the panel on the left, actually typed the word live transcript, live transcript, colon, and then I paste the room title. Alright, so once I've done that on the otter panel, I clicked on the share button at the lower left corner and then I click on Enable link at the bottom. And then I click on Copy Link. So what that does is that it grabs the public shareable link, from otter, and then I'll go back to the room panel. And I would start to pin the link. So I'm just going to paste the link into the room. And voila, the rest of you now you can see that the pin Link has changed to live transcript colon and then the room title. It's like magic. This is this is awesome. Now, yes, now you can go ahead and click on the link. So I'll click on Data slow. On my in my case, it will just open up the web browser and show it there. But actually, let me log out of my account because there's a different view for people who are not an otter user yet. It was still open. It would open up a view only transcript and so it you will see it live is transcribed live. I'm going to go back to the club deck otter panel and point out that there's a highlight button at the lower right corner. So what that does is that if you hear some important things people dropping gems people sharing tips, I just within one click it will instantly highlight the last couple of sentences. And then if we go back to the pin link, and then open up that panel, from a viewer standpoint, guess what? That sentence or those two sentences I'll highlight it right so this is very useful for taking notes. Not by typing taking notes simply by highlighting. It's almost like Harry Potter's where you see the people walking inside a map and in the maze right. So the everything is get transcribed live, so all you have to do is highlight is faster than grabbing a pen and paper to take notes is faster than opening up a word processor document and typing out the exact quote. You know, sometimes somebody dropped some quotes. It's like, okay, you don't even have to ask the speaker to repeat what they said. If you hear people dropping gems, you just highlight it and that's it. And that way when you go back later on, you can scroll back people who come into the room late, they can scroll back, you can highlight your room reset, so you don't have to repeat yourself as often. That's it just one click Highlight. Now let's say if you want a more precise highlight, then you can literally just highlight you know, select some text inside a live transcript, and then click on the highlight button. And there you go. You can do a more precise highlight as well. So those are the two different ways that you can highlight. And at the end of the session, this whole live transcript turns into an audio recording. So not only do you get to read, but you also get to listen to what was said. And you can even click on the the highlights. There's a section that says five highlights. So if you click on five highlights it would just open up a
it would open up a section that allow you to listen back to your just to just to digest so that a 60 minute room or a 60 minute meeting turns into a five to 10 minute highlight digest and that's all you need to do. So it's super, super powerful that you can go back skim the highlights or you can just listen to, you know the cliff notes so to speak. I'm dating myself. The cliff notes of the of the conversation. I've also used auto to do some transcriptions of podcasts. And so that way you can import it and then just click on highlights, for example, and then you can just listen to that portion. And you can even just export just the highlights. So that can be your meeting action items that can be all the q&a from the clubhouse town hall. So just very, very, super, super powerful. It makes everything a lot easier. So I'll pause right here. Any questions from the panel?
I think it's great, just as an observation rather than a question, but I think it's it's really great. Especially I was thinking about the podcasting use case we do have quite a few users who record their podcast live in clubhouse. Through club deck. They use the recording feature on club deck to explore the audio. They also use audio effects. That there's a set you know basically you can upload any type of music or audio effects into club deck for to play them live in the room. You know and kind of make it's more lively if it's a podcast if you want to run an introductory and Introduction music or something like that you can do that. And one interesting thing is that when you record your room, you have an option to create timestamps that will you know, basically you just have to press a key and it's it opened up opens up a window you can quickly type the topic you know the subject that is being discussed. And at the end of the recording not only will you get a an audio file, but you will also get a text file which is compatible with Spotify, a few other platforms YouTube and like that and which gives you a very neat, you know, time stamped you know, schedule of your podcasts that you can import them into your your favorite podcasting tool so that people can jump jump from section to section very easily. And I was thinking about combining that with others transcription capabilities can really make your podcast you know turn that into a very professional production.
Absolutely a lot of the podcasters are using otter to generate transcripts and also YouTubers are video producers they like to use otter and export an SRT caption format so that you can upload the SRT file a look at the subtitle file along with the video to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook wherever they host their content to provide captions as well. Yeah, those are great use cases. Alright, Philippe, do you have anything before I invite the new speakers on stage to share a tip or ask a question, Felipe?
Yeah, no, I think we are happy to answer a question. So please go ahead, I think
Alright, so for so just a quick reset. This is my name is Simon Lau. I'm the VP of product@otter.ai. With me here is nozzle Pierre and Philippe and Pierre and Philippe are the developers have this wonderful app called Club deck, and I'm the VP of product at all thought AI is an app that record and transcribe your meetings, lectures, interviews, and even clubhouse rooms. We're hosting two rooms today to share some tips and tricks on clubhouse and how you can use club deck in order to make your clubhouse experience much better. So if you have any questions or tips, feel free to raise your hand and Ozel and Pierre and Felipe will invite you up on stage. Make sure that you have something on your clubhouse bio because we don't want any trolls to come up. Alright so with that all right, and make sure that you keep your mic on mute when you come up. All right, with that I'm gonna invite intptr order the first person the first speaker, I want to welcome you on stage. Satya come please unmute and let us know whether you have a tip or you have a question.
Hey, Simon viewer and I have been trying to use I don't know this is related to club Can I ask anything about club deck or or just let's
go ahead take the opportunity we have give any questions about club deck otter feel free to do
so yeah. So I'm a native Linux user and I see I think looks like this. You know this using electron or something looks like that. Oh, he says there any near future you have his own limits.
Here are Philip if you
can answer that. Sure. That's a great question. And that's a question we get asked from time to time. The the difficulty with Linux is is basically audio drivers. It's really it's really painful, to be honest to try and make it work. For every Linux setup. And we're just it's just the two of us. It's just Philippa. Nice. So for now, we were concentrating on trying to make it work properly on Mac and Windows at least. And if we expand the team and have the resources then we will probably look at Linux but it's it's not something we don't have the resources to do that properly right now unfortunately. So do you know what is the stock you have been using right now? Like maybe? How like It's like their API's are not open and all that. Do you really really like? Reverse? No do what what do you do, guys? If you need help, like we can help you. There is a lot of energy and I have developers with me because that's the thing I've done that's that's very, very nice of you to to offer that. We you know, we can't you know, you've probably noticed that we are the only third party clients which county works with clubhouse and although we not we are not an official client at all. part of us. We have been in touch with him in the past. Just just to make sure that we were legit and what we were doing was was legitimate but I can't really comment on what we're doing and how it works unfortunately but we will you know coming back to to Linux, we will probably look at it but it's it's going to take a few months. For us what we were trying to do now is to make sure that clubhouse club deck is at feature parity with clubhouse at all times and you've probably noticed that they've been releasing new features and accelerating in their release schedule over the past few weeks. So we're just trying to hold on to it to be at par with what the native iOS and Android applications are offering. And at the same time providing that extra value that you can, you know have from being a desktop application. So it's already we already have a lot on our plate. But once once the clubhouse itself will be stabilized in terms of features then we will have more time to look into space.
Thank you for your question.
Thanks. Thanks, there.
Alright, so I want to move along to the next speaker in PTR order. ls love. Welcome to the stage please ask you a question or share a tip.
Thank you very much. Thank you for your hard work. Gentlemen. I love club deck. I've had it for a long time I run a lot of rooms so it's the only way to go when you're running a room. However, there are certain little glitches that I don't know if you know about. One of them is when locking out it'll sometimes not let me close up club deck because it'll say that if you close up you may lose a recording and I was not recorded. So that's a little glitch there. I have a problem bringing up people who raise their hands down below. You know, they'll raise their hand I'll invite them or click the button several times to try to bring them up and sometimes I just can't bring them up. Let's see. I haven't been able to find clips yet his clips not available yet.
Maybe Maybe we'll take your question is not in order. So the first one about when you're closing a room. It's actually the pop up says you know Are you sure you want to close that boom because if you have a recording going on, you will lose it. But it's actually it's it's it shows even if you don't have a recording, it's just reminding you that if you do have a recording, maybe make sure you stop recording before it goes right the puppet is you know its main purpose is just to make sure that you're not if you accidentally click on the on the Close button. It gives you a chance not to actually leave
I understand what my let me just I'm sorry to interrupt because you misunderstood my question when I log out and try to close club deck after leaving the room or whether I'm recording or not or just listening. It gives me a message that you know that you will lose a recording if you close this out but I'm not recording or anything. So it's a message that comes when logging out of club deck.
Okay.
Have you been recording? No record?
No. Most of the time I'm not recording when I get just okay. Okay.
But you but you hadn't been before, right? Let's say during the session. Okay. Yes. Okay. So we will we'll look into that. Yeah,
okay. Also there's an audio problem. Sometimes when I click on Join a room and like all the red mics will be lit up and they slowly go away but then I don't have any audio and then I have to leave the room. Go back and click on join again and then I get my audio.
So maybe there was you know, let's take your questions in order there was a question about not being able to bring people up on stage. This is actually some something which is linked to to clubhouse, not club deck. itself. It happens on the native apps. And the solution for those people. You know, when that happens, it means that the people who raised their hands or the people for which you know that you invited on stage had a connection glitch. At the point it happened and they may well be on the native clubhouse app. And so the patients just for them to leave the room and reenter if he you know, in many rooms I we hear from time to time, moderators, you know, saying I can't bring you up, leave the room and come back and the moderator is actually not upticks. I think it's more like a clubhouse, which can happen from time to time. Regarding the the clips feature. One thing you can do is disabled clips. So if you don't want your room to be clips, you can disable that as a moderator there's no we don't have the the the exact clips feature. That clubhouse released simply because we released our own version before they're they're released. We thought you know, probably to two weeks before them, you know, you know for quite some time we thought that it was an interesting thing to be able to export a short video of a conversation. And so we have our own version which is called highlights. And in the right hand side column, you know where where it says stop recording stream and record and stuff like that. There's also a highlight button. The highlight button only works if you're recording the room for technical reasons. And then you just have to press the H key like highlight to start a highlight and H again to stop it. So it works slightly differently from house it doesn't take the last you know the past 30 seconds. It just you know takes whatever you want to take and there's a delay so if you start to highlight it will actually start a few seconds in the past to account for your reaction time because oftentimes you know, we don't know that something is worth keeping or highlighting until it's a bit too late. So we've we've added a buffer and when you press that button it will actually start recording a bit in the past and then you you know stop the highlight it will start the point you decided to stop it and it will export to ask you where you want to save the file and it will export a video file which is compatible with Twitter and other social networks. So it's a slightly different approach. But it's essentially it's more or less the same feature. And thank you I wish you had
last question has to do with with when playing an audio. Let's say I play some piece of music from YouTube. The volume slider doesn't seem like it. It doesn't seem to like if I have it all the way off. It's still broadcasting out to the room. And it's a little bit difficult to adjust the volume going out to the room they say it's too loud and I try to lower it lower it lower than if it's offered again. It still plays
Yeah, so you have actually one you know under each audio effects that you have in the audio effects tab. You have a play button but you also have a note audience you know, do we want to share it with the audience or not and you should click click on it you can enable or disable it so you can play it privately from the stream into the room or and so that's very useful if you want to adjust the volume for instance. So you can do that. You know whenever you want to play a few of your audio effects you can disable audience sharing, listen to the volume adjusted accordingly and then you can share it the only thing that you need to know is that the volume cannot be adjusted dynamically during you know whilst you're playing the effect. That's the limitation of ACARA which is the underlying audio engine for our house. So that's not something we will be able to to sort out basically you can just play at fixed volume and that volume needs needs to be set before you start playing once you've started playing adjusted the volume won't do anything.
Thank you one more thing that I just thought of when gang a Bella chalice love that thank
thank you for all the questions it's so because I actually mess up the PTR order and there are many other speakers. Waiting patient.
Thank you so much for being here today.
Appreciate it. Phil always feel free to reach out to the club tech team. They're very active on social media, especially on Twitter. So if you have additional questions, please come back to future rooms, or contact the club tech team on Twitter. All right, Joey, thank you for
more rooms like this to have more questions from people. So that's gonna be really helpful for users. And before we go ahead, I just want us Pierre about the clips feature. Is it possible to implement the native clips feature that's clubhouse has in Lebda
the clips feature is actually done locally on your phone. So it's not it's not something which is done on their their servers and that you then get on your phone. It's it's actually runs on your iOS or Android Android device. So we could try to mirror you know to do exactly what they've been doing Excel Excel for big so it's, it's it's honestly it's a huge it's a huge undertaking for just the both of us. Maybe one day once we have you know they let us breathe a little bit and stop, you know, churning out on a weekly or bi weekly basis. Now, not planning to limit exactly the same way. We just had the highlight feature.
All right, thank you for the question and answers. All right. So Joey, thank you for your patience. You're up next. Do you have a question or tip before
before ecliptic decides to make these audio like our friend here was mentioning why did that happen? I can I can be there for an hour and it was fine. I can be there for like two minutes and I lose audio after come back like I just said
so the question is around you losing audio right? Yeah. Yeah, so Can I ask on you know, in which country you're based on which continent at least if it's not in the US, it might depend on your ISP on your on your internet service provider. And this is something that I actually experience on the native clubhouse app when I'm on 4g When I'm not on the way on my phone. Because, you know, for some reason, the DNS resolution so it's being a bit technical there but the servers that direct your the communication between your app and the clubhouse servers and the Agora servers which are you know, which is the company that is using to broadcast audio is sometimes misconfigured. So the only solution we found is to is to recommend using either Google Google's DNS resolution or be think about that Cloudflare I can I can try and pin a link to that if you haven't come across that that is basically that Cloudflare they have a a software free software, which is called Rough. What? I don't know. Let me check that out. quickly for you. Yeah, and and it's basically it's something that we'll configure I'm using that on my when when whenever I'm using clubhouse on my smartphone on my Apple device, I have to go through them to have for my LG units breakouts, because my ISP is not you know is not doing things properly or maybe kababs DNS is not properly configured. And so I have to install you know, install that on my on my smartphone for it to work. Let me find the link and maybe we'll pin it at the top Simon if you Okay.
Absolutely. All right. So while we do while Pierre does that, let's move on to the next speaker. I want to welcome Hadar to the stage. Haidar please let me know how you pronounce your name. Hello and give.
Hi Doug from Iraq.
Welcome. Hello, welcome. We can hear you what question do you have?
Thank you so much. I like this application. It's very, very beautiful application. I have to point can you translate from Arabic please?
So the question is
our Yeah, definitely the question is regarding how if and when we can translate my languages
My language is Latin English language. I want to talk about recording. The recording is a SC not mp3. This will problem and this is normal. Record ASE. This is 1.2 point. I want more accessible with blind guys with people with the disability the sound is very low sound notification. Invite to speak is very very low sound. I want to change this sound change the Ansari okay, I took him Arabic No problem took Arabic.
I'm afraid that we won't be able to understand you. But But I'll I'll rephrase your your questions. I think there were several of them. The first one is that you would like to have the interface in the club deck interface in Arabic.
No, I want I want this I want to speak Arabic. Now sir, translate me.
Yeah, go ahead. I can hear I can translate that for you. And I already read your message. hider okay. And I can
Yes, okay. Another man Makueni Edna little invite to speak. coolish sorta vive where large house party deal buzzer Yeah, Tim to nallah sought follow my coolroom be experiment shuffles it had this bit Kalama orbitally llama? Why did this the invite to speed mass mass sort of the orbital screen reader yell alga revise from a moderator will be tally low episode Shaurya. Romania's estimate I'm invite some so we'll accept of the admin model adorable a screen reader, others to an hour so Anthony lation record the ASC mo mp3 Shukran. Jesse, thank you so much.
Thank you. So the first thing he mentioned is about the notification sound like when he's in the audience and someone's inviting him to speak on the stage. There is no the audio that he receives, like the sonification that comes up is not loud enough for him to notice that since he's visually impaired so that he can't know if the moderator is inviting him to be joining as a speaker. So he expects it to have some louder notification sound that comes when you when someone is inviting people to speak on stage.
Okay, so that's something we can we can work on. Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, and the second thing that he mentioned also, he messaged me while there was going on is that the quality the quality of the recording is not good enough because it's a sci fi and stuff mp3 And also he's mentioned that the recording is in mono and not in stereo but I think we upgraded that right. I mean, I mean, you guys upgraded that. When you switch it when you added the music mod feature. I'm not sure if the recording is still on. On mono now or not on stereo. Can you explain that pure?
Yeah, I'll take it. Yeah, you You're right. When we, when we develop the music mode, we allowed for a streaming and recording audio capture in stereo. However, due to a limitation in the in the Tegra API, which is the the service that clubhouse uses for for streaming audio, while due to limitation with that platform. Recording is still in mono. However, we are working on another solution which might help us which might allow us to record in stereo and with with proper quality and as well as let you choose the encoding. So if you if you want to if you want mp3 For instance, instead of AAC or if you would like let's say yeah, uncompressed format, that's that's something that we might be able to do. So it is still it's still something that we are working on actively in the in development, but we're confident we can have something working in, let's say in the in the coming week. So hopefully we'll we'll have a nice we'll we'll add this nice nice feature which is which is highly requested actually. So Duly noted.
Yeah. Thank you for that. I was also wondering the same question before like why did you choose to have the recording in AAC format and stuff other one is it because of the compression so the file size will be smaller or is there any other technical reasons for that?
It's just a size issue. You know, because the thing is, people are running rooms, sometimes for three, four hours. Now, I think that the best example of that is Tyler, the guy who runs tech news around the world which is a big show, which is run twice, twice a day and goes on for about three to four hours. That's, you know, that's one of the reasons why we decided to go with the A C but like Philip said, we're quite hopeful that not only will you have a better quality, but also you will have the ability to choose the encoding format, so that should solve the issue.
Alright, thank you for the question. Move on to the next speaker Philip, welcome on stage do you have a question or a tip?
Okay, so can you hear me well guys? Very well.
Thank you. Okay, so
first of all, I'd like to thank you all the moderators for having me up here on stage and thank you for all your hard work, you know, developing tools which helps out a lot our experience here in clubhouse right. So I have two questions, I guess. So first of all, I gotta say I'm Phillip. I'm 32 years old. I'm from Brazil. I'm speaking from Rio de Janeiro. And I use club deck on my Windows laptop computer. So I have some problems, you know, in having a broad abroad, see, you have the room, especially when I'm moderating. So those people who stay on the others in the wrong section, and especially if I got a big room, I cannot see all of them. So is that something that it's my problem of my device or or can I use like solve this and how can I PTR inside club deck or is it possible?
First question about the screen. You can you can actually try to play with the various screen resolutions. And then when only one type of screen you have an attribute view, you will see more people. You can you know once if you hover over the room, then you can scroll down and see all the users and it's actually quicker than it is on on on the native app. I'm doing a try now and I can go to the bottom in the space of half a second. And then they are you can jump from section to section between other users because people who have raised their hands and stuff like that. So maybe try to to change your screen resolution and also just make sure that you are able to scroll down once you're in the room on your question for VTR so for those who don't know BTR is pull to refresh. It's basically when you pull the screen down on the native app and it refreshes the room. It's very useful if somebody changes their profile picture, for instance. So if you want to make sure that you give your give the mic to the people in the order at which they jumped up on stage. On club dates, you can absolutely do that. It's actually a shortcut. It's Ctrl it's the Ctrl key and the P key for PTR at the same time, so Ctrl S P if you want to have the list of shortcuts in club deck, there's a menu you can either go to our website, you know config dot ABP and there's a section a full section with shortcuts, but you can also use the menu at the top, the club tech menu, where you have shortcuts, you click on that it will open a new tab within club deck with the list of shortcuts. So I can go through them very quickly if you want to refresh the hallway. So that's essentially what you see on the left hand side of your screen with all the rooms you just press Ctrl H or way if you want to see your backchannels is Ctrl plus b if you want to see your own line friends, it's Ctrl o events control plus a and you know there are many other you know notifications Ctrl plus and so you can do many things you can pull to refresh you can toggle the remoto Joshi, you know if you have to take a call for instance and don't want to have the audio keep going on in your ears you can press Control plus x and it will silent the room make the room silent for you. There are a few accessibility features as well if you want to see you know if you want to check whether you're on mute or unmuted, if you're on stage or not on stage. There's a shortcut for that as well. It's Ctrl Shift Ctrl Shift and one number one key. You can also enumerate the current speaker if you if you're not sure who's speaking there's as a shortcut last. There are many many things you can raise your hand you can accept stage invites. You can decline stage invites you can mute and you know the shortcut I'm using the most is the mute and unmute shortcut, which is Ctrl plus m. So very quickly, you can mute and unmute your mic. As you can have that based either on our websites or clubs like the AVP or through the glovework menu at the top you click on club deck and shortcuts to have the full list of shortcuts.
Okay, so thank you very much PR and timeline if I may, I just would like to ask you is otter.ai Does it support Brazilian Portuguese or other any any other languages in relation to the transcription? Thank you so much. I'm Philip. I'm done speaking.
Alder currently supports English only it handles all the accents of from different countries very fairly well, but it does not support different languages yet, but certainly on a roadmap. Thank you for the question. All right. So I have stopped the ham racing. Option, because we'll be closing this room shortly. But we do want to get through the remaining questions on stage. So with that, I will pass the mic to come Mahana Kahana welcome to the stage. Do you have a question or tip?
Thank you for having me. And letting me ask questions. And thanks for all your hard work with the app. Can you hear me? Yes. Oh, thank you. Um, I had two questions if possible. My first question is, is there any way to open the room under a club and open it as public? Is that possible?
Yeah, absolutely. So when you're saying is you want to start to bring on The Club. So just for club members, and at some stage you want to open the room for everyone?
Yes. From club deck.
Yeah. So you can do that in the right hand side column, you will have a link which will say open room and then you just click on that and you can make the room.
Everybody. Okay, I haven't seen that link but I'll try to look again. Thank you. And my other question, it has to do with pinging people. When I have a desktop and when I that's what I'm using, but when I try to ping people with the pinging feature, the box shortens and shortens and shortens as as I as I check more boxes and start to get to the point where I have to have to send those pings through and then come back and start over again. Is that the norm or is there am I doing something wrong?
I think at some stage, you know, if you were sorry, if you were to ping people from the native app, you wouldn't be able to ping. Like, more than 10 people at the same time, I think I remember correctly. So that's basically a limitation that we narrowed. It starts you know, it's the big feature and I think that's the philosophy of what the clubhouse team has implemented with being is not to being the your entire contact list into your room. So that's why they've put that limit in place.
Okay, thank you very much.
All right. Thank you. So I think
he was actually talking about the UI itself. You know, when we are selecting people and the names or the names that we select, it comes on the top and then the box goes down. So I think there's some room for improvement in that place where we can actually have that on the side maybe on the right side, and we can actually select the people while the list is on the other side. So it doesn't have to be don't have to keep scrolling down all the time.
Yeah, okay. All right. So now, I would like to welcome premmie premmie welcome. to the stage. Do you have a question or tip to share?
I have a question. Hi, Simon. Hi, Nancy. All and thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to speak to Pierre in film. I love the corporate app and it has definitely helped me grow my community. I use the app about twice a week from my MacBook. And the only concern I have at the moment is sometimes when I'm trying to lock out of the club deck out so I can access it from my phone. Because it happened I think Tuesday night it was either Monday or Tuesday night. But it gives me the warning that if I leave the app that my recording will be lost but I'm not. I don't record my rooms. So I'm not able to get back into the room. And then I'm also not able to access that room from my phone at the time. So it's almost like I'm in limbo.
Right so this is something somebody else mentioned early on, so we'll we'll investigate that to observations. Just make sure that you are always on the latest version of club deck. So to do that, you know, you go on the top menu club deck and then check for updates and if it offers you to update, we suggest you do it and you let the app restart itself automatically. So don't touch anything until it's stopped. You know, updating and it's restarted. So that's one thing. The other thing that comes to mind is that you actually don't need to log out. If you want to switch to the native apps. You know, this is just a feature with with with implemented for people who have multiple accounts and want to use that. But if you log into the native clubhouse app on your phone, it will automatically log you out of club deck and vice versa. So you don't need to do that it's not necessary to to log out manually before logging into club deck. Or the clubhouse native apps.
Okay, thank you.
Alright, thank you for your questions. And I would like to pass the mic to nozzle Pierre and Felipe to do a quick outro before we schedule our next room, I think we're probably going to do this room more frequently.
