getting more and more really fine. Did you know, you know, I think I came in with a mindset to get my teammates involved. Because everybody has had a goal and, you know, they've been playing so well. So I just want to keep that goal. And, you know, found myself playing with it. I mean, we've always had the system, I think, you know, lately, that'd be moving a ball, you know, that'd be making shots. So, and then we've been playing great defense. So I just wanted to come in and just, you know, fit in and, you know, trying to make sure that everybody keeps doing what they've been doing, because they've been doing a great job. And, you know, and then, and, you know, some, you know, some ways, you know, whenever I was needed, that's when I felt like I needed to turn it off.
Tobias was just really did a good job kind of carrying you guys offensively until you were able to get it going. Just what did you make of his play? When you were out and just getting carried into?
Man, I've been doing so good. I think that just been, you know, trusting each other. You know, even before I got hurt, I think, you know, the way we were playing, then we were playing together, you know, just moving the ball. You know, making sure everybody touches the ball. And obviously, the last four games, you know, they've been playing on another level, defensively. And offensively, I think our offense has been so good because of our defense. So I've been that's the reason why we've, we've been winning all these games.
In defense, what did you see on that possession, where you got the steel plate that didn't, didn't really steal the game, but was obviously a big
man in that situation, you know, from the start of the play, you know, you could tell he thought we were going to drop in there, we're gonna try to set a screen fall to try to get me on there. And we weren't gonna go one through five anyway, so we'll have to go them straight up anyways, but the way, you know, position myself, I acted like we were going shopping, and try to take the ball out of his hands. And, you know, as the best play on the team, you want the last shot and you want to be able to make the last place to make sure that your team wins. And that situation, that's why he ended up sending wherever I was guarding away to try to go one on one. And, you know, I just tried to play cat and mouse game with, like, had him thinking that he had a wide open lob, while at the same time, you know, I knew I was giving us space for reason. Because, you know, I watch a lot of games. He's not selfish in make that type of play, if someone is open, so I was trying to bait him and he did work. And you know, in some instances, it doesn't work. You could have been a bad player. Bad read by me, but in that situation in the works, I was happy
last last weekend, like for you since Minnesota game and
I'll say probably the following two days after I got her because I was extremely worried about what it might have been, you know, because I couldn't walk. So you know, I was just happy that you know, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was and I wasn't able to miss a lot of time.
I'm proud of your the way your team has been able to kind of persevere and turn things around a bit. You know, you've been out James Tyrese, spies missed a bunch of time you guys are still on seven and nine you're playing great defense
is a testament to our coaching staff. Obviously, the players have been doing a great job gotta give a lot of credit to God's law shape. You know, she'll FUCK IT guys coming in. They haven't gotten minutes all season and now they're just coming in, you know? I'm just proud of them because they're ready. You could tell that you know that we're waiting for this moment for them for the name to be called. So, you know, I'm just proud. You know, we have like I said, the first few games. We we didn't play the way we wanted to offensively and defensively and if you remember the beginning, but before the season I thought I said I want us to be the best defense in the league, which are they you know, since really since I've come back from injury, I think we are the best defense in the league. That was the goal. And you know, those first few games we weren't playing well defensively. And then offensively the ball was taking too much. So, you know, obviously, injuries happened. And you know, we had to make a lot a lot of adjustments, whether it was, you know, me becoming more of a playmaker and then we also got some guys I can handle it's called a ball into a bar shake Tawi Tavis before he got hurt, you know, fuck. So I think it's all about, you know, just us playing together coaching staff, you know, Coach, Doc, and, you know, staff, you know, they've been getting everybody ready, you know, just to, you know, make sure that, you know, we come in, and we do everything possible to win these games.
And he said, you're trying to get involved early on, but down stretch when he took over and they kind of hold you guys home, were you surprised? They didn't try to double, you really
know, because it's hard, and it's almost impossible to double. From the elbow. There's a reason why I don't post up as much as I used to post up, you know, in the past, you know, there's a reason for that, because in a post, use easy to double. And, but, you know, the elbow, or the now you know, if you want to double Gulla someone is going to be wide open, and I have a better vision of the whole floor, whether, you know, depending on when the who someone is going to be opened, and I can see everybody. So in that situation, instead of being watching film, like I'm sure there was in the league, do you know we've run the same play? You know, especially at the end of the game is hot. I mean, it's hard to double. I mean, if you want to do it, go ahead, you know, but it is hard, and you just gotta leave with the results. And tonight, we were just fortunate to knock down a couple of key shots
down the roster has been ready in place, the way that they have, like, what what have you observed? Like, behind the scenes, as far as like the extra work those guys put in? You mentioned the coaching staff, obviously, what has sort of led to those guys being right?
We are shooting ones up again, which is not okay. No, I'm just kidding. But, you know, no one that is free of, you know, having coach in the past from what I heard, you know, in his old days, they used to practice a lot. And we practice every day, and we have shooter winds before every game, which is good. That's that's what you need to be able to win. But I think, you know, that goes into, you know, making sure everybody's ready, and making sure everybody knows the place, making sure we keep that cohesion, where everybody is on the same page. Depending on you know, whether you play on that you just got you still gotta know what you got to do. You know, when you get on the floor last time.
Last one, this one, this much
was back to Bob a couple of years ago.
What do you think his game has grown the most?
I mean, I think he's always been like that. He's all about opening, the NBA is all about opportunities. Why now he's got a huge opportunity to, you know, because he's extremely needed. You know, we lost to about ball handlers. He has a lot of responsibilities, you know, on his shoulders, but he's been doing such a fantastic job. And I think he's always had it. He's just about the opportunities he just never had. You had, you know, a couple of chances. But it's easier when you play regularly. You know, it's hard. I always pride myself on you know what, Miss time or not, I always pride myself on you know, coming back and no dominating. But for some other guys, they need to, you know, play regularly to be able to show what they can do I think for for him and you know, for the other guys that have been playing so well. It's just about the consistency of you know, coming in know, their worlds knowing what they had to do to be able to help us win. Thanks, Joe.
