Whoa, just curious. Welcome to Just curious media. This is let's talk Cobra Kai. I'm Jason Connell.
And I'm Sal Rodriguez.
All right, Sal, we are back for another fast quick down and dirty preview episode.
Yes, it is fast. It is quick. And it is exciting.
That's it folks. No Mercy. Yeah, it is excited because I started this when we had when I interviewed since a gym true of true martial arts academy just recently had him on the show, but we decided to do a little preview you and I, you know, video, audio video everything because you couldn't join us. And so solid did it again.
Yeah. No, no, this is great. These interviews are great. I love the interview with sensei. True. Good. It was a really great interview. Great sound as well.
Very good. Well, I did it again. Meaning I have another interview. I did it during the day my time which again, three hours behind on the west coast. So I had since a Chris Jensen in the studio at the local studio. He met early also from true Martial Arts Academy. He trained under Sensei, Jim true.
Well, nice. So this is like kind of like crease and Johnny
Exactly. And I also mentioned he is in The Next Karate Kid. He was the young student that got to be put in the movie with some of his other students. Some of since hm students. So yeah, he heard the episode wanted to come on as like, of course. And since a Jim mentions him in the episode, if you recall, like, I've had these kids like seven, eight years old train with me all the way up. This is one of those guys. he's our age. He's been in the true martial arts academy all these years. And now he has two kids. They're also training at the dojo. Wow. It's a family affair.
Very special. It really is. That's really cool. That's a It's a legacy.
It's a legacy. This is what I loved about this dojo. Not only are they involved with The Next Karate Kid, again, we know this and since a Chris agrees, the weakest of all of the Karate Kid movies, but still, it's filmed here in Boston. It's cool that it was filmed here. And they're a part of it. But like you said, I was in love with the legacy the fact that this dojo has like peers and the this level and this level. So this Dojo is like runs like a real organization, like a family like a team. But I found out that I shouldn't tell too much, because it's a great interview. But since a Chris grew up without a father, yeah, okay, join this dojo very young. And since a gym true, I was like, wow, this is like karate kid all over again. It was like the father figure he didn't have got him in the right type of martial arts. And here we are decades later, and it just keeps perpetuating itself moving forward. I always just touch when I found this out, like, oh, my gosh, wait a second. This is just This is almost too meta at the same time.
Sure. And you start to get into how martial arts is not only the fighting itself, not only the defense itself. Now, there's so much more happening.
Yes, the discipline the lifestyle, and here he is paying it forward. So super excited to have him on. We also get into The Next Karate Kid, how it came about how the casting went, his scenes, he got to meet Walter gogans, who's in the movie went on to be a big actor. And of course, Michael Ironsides there and talks about patent Raider. So some fun little nuggets there, which we love. Also, he was into Cobra Kai, even before me, I know I was into for you. But he got YouTube early. He was an early early adopters, and he loves it.
Nice. So in other words, he was one of these guys when he first because we all I guess, let's say theoretically, we all saw the trailer at the same time. And I was like, what I was doing, what what is why? And then you put it aside? Well, he didn't. He didn't
very bought it. You bought it. And it was and so I was like, I was an early adopter, but you beat me. And then he also brought a t shirt to the interview. Not to mention he's wearing a Cobra Kai shirt. So kudos, but he brought a shirt that the production crew gave him from The Next Karate Kid. It looked like they gave it to me yesterday. He kept it like in mint condition, much like your toys. And so you can see that on social media when I posted I thought that was really cool.
Jason, I'm proud of my karate kid merchandise store bought, let alone if I had actual actual item
memorabilia from
the moon. That's very exciting. Very, very cool.
And then lastly, we talk a little bit more about the sensei Jim beer at the mighty squirrel Brewing Company. Since a Gemini had so many things to cover that we didn't get into that but there is a beer since a jam right there because the Dojo is on the backside of this brewery that is really cool all about community. So we talked about that some but it's a great chat, and I can't wait for you and our fans to hear it.
You know, Jason, let's be clear. believe you can do home bottling people like bottle like you know have make their own beer bottle it up you can give me some of that sense a true beer bottle it up and ship it to California
yeah well they do bottle it it is already you could buy in cans it's out there yeah I didn't know and I was just there I think at the place they have the tap they have the keg but since a Chris told me this they actually have it bottled or canned. I was like oh my gosh, now we have to get this thing. Yeah, shipping around for sure.
That's really cool. I know. I'll have my Johnny Lawrence action figure drinking some true beer. I'll be mad as hell.
I love it. I love it. Well,
that's all I got just a little preview of the interview is since a Christiansen of true martial arts
academy. Yeah, a legacy. A legacy. Sosa take it away.
