We are a qualified health center provides about 200,000 unique individuals every year, about 500 of
them currently are.
But because of our historic commitment to the LGBT community, we've got 3500 living with HIV. About 2000 transgender and gender expansive patients. So we've revolutionized. We'll talk about that. But I wanted to share a little bit more about cancer work, so the 500 patients. Currently, have colon cancer skin cancer, chest cancer. And I'm forgetting. But importantly we did about 12,000 screenings a year and one of the things that's been really unique about us is we do colonoscopies on an on site. So the amount of referrals that we have to deal with for those particular services. And we've been longtime partners of Canada cancer support community, and I'd love to have Kim offer up some information about that. Wonderful. So,
Dr. Biden, for some years now and to work together in the cancer space but I just have to start by offering promote authentic cancer support community our congratulations. And the President, we're very excited and we're particularly excited about what we're going to be doing together in healthcare and in cancer. We have a special partnership here with Whitman Walker health that we're very excited about. As I think you know we have 50 affiliate locations around the country, but this one's very special because it's our only location where we are embedded in a federally qualified health center. This is a community clinic that's reaching a diverse underserved community communities of color here in Washington DC. So the idea that we can bring Cancer Support and navigation services inside the walls of an FTA agency we think is very special. And really a unique partnership we know that our communities of color are disproportionately impacted by cancer, and some great statistics even here right now in the district, I just want to think, think about for a moment, the broader cancer conversation because I know one of the things that's so important today is the screening, the cancer screening is happening here. But you know right now there are more than 17 million cancer survivors in the US. It is expected that by 2030 there will be more than 22 million cancer survivors in the US, so the numbers are going up, up. So I feel like in the big picture we really have to make a greater effort to to not only do the screenings, we have to address we continue to care for patients. We have to talk about clinical trials and that genomic testing, and we have to ensure that cancer care is affordable and accessible for all people impacted by cancer, particularly the underserved in our community of color. So, you know, they're just some some amazing things that are happening here we're providing a wide range of navigation services we have two wonderful, social workers who are working with the cancer patients here. They're doing support navigation, they're doing distress screening which we talked about the importance of screening patients are distress. They're doing family counseling sessions, individual counseling sessions. So the fact that we can be here in a place like Whitman Walker, with all those wraparound services, I think is a meaningful partnership this team is going to just talk a little bit more about the things that are happening in the clinic, we have a mini tour scheduled today.
A very mini tour.
They want to be really respectful of your time. So, the benefit of doing this kind of work for us in a federally qualified center of care home, medical providers, we have dental providers, we have nursing staff nutritionists will have a really comprehensive behavioral health program. We have attorneys on our team that helped people with social determinants of health and legal terms that are happening, have their health care access, and of course they have insurance navigators to make sure we get everybody insured. We have a full service pharmacy that's actually created and the whole team works together to support that patient
care.
So to the extent that they have cancer and we just put them through the kind of external process we've really got a big team that's working all together in electronic health record in a secure way to keep everybody really well informed, and it's been incredible to have. I think especially the social working aspect and the behavioral health support for our patients. So, we'd love to show you more. Yeah.
Excellent. Well, you know, you may want to mention this, but I think one of the things that's happening here that's so exciting when we think about the future, is that we've been Walker's opening 100, square foot facility and about one of our underserved community, and all of our
