I'm sorry, I was there for a week. I had phone calls about not being able to see the speaker during the meeting. So that's
it that Oh,
good afternoon, citizens. Honorable Council. Thank you for this time. I'm not going to take much time because I have a crisis in the city right now. And that I'm continuously working with. Up here you will find a calendar. I'll put some up of events. That's happening but in the city month. This week coming up. We have a mobile health clinic coming to the Rec Center from 12pm to 6pm. If you know anybody who needs to have some health evaluations done, please make sure that you send them over to the health center. I mean, the rec center between those hours is free. Free Free, you know evaluations. Coffee a conversation with Senator Stephanie Chang is happening at Nandi is this week on Friday 12pm to 1pm Please stop by if you have a conversation for Senator Stephanie Chang also border review. I'm sorry, I skipped that. Seven. Board of Review. organizational meeting from 9am at City Hall is happening this week on the seventh. You can one of these calendars up here. It has all of the information for the rest of the month. And the state of the city is happening on March 23. Everyone is invited to come out to Hilton springs Baptist Church on Hamilton Council you are invited to come please be there if you can, and all those citizens. Also black club organization meeting that's up here. For those citizens that are interested in forming a black club, and if you have a black club, we're meeting on the 15th at 6pm at the fire station, please plan to attend so that we can get more black clubs are organized and those that we already have moving in the right direction. DTE let's talk about that because that's that's definitely a big thing right now, you know we've had now for either outages in the last 10 days. To end this area, the South East section and now two in the area on the other side. So right now I'm working closely with our state rep for DTE and our state representative Stephanie Chang. I'm also in conversations with our WINC a Wayne County weapon. Her name is Barbara. I've been on the phone with her all day. They got it up and running, and then it went back out. And so we're working on it now and that's why I have to leave because I'm continuously in conversations with him to try to get this back up before midnight. Trust me, I'm upset because I've been out since six o'clock this morning, chasing down trucks and going over to buildings and doing the things that I need to do to try to make sure citizens are taken care of. I've been to downtown Dallas Amanda three times today. Our fire department is in that area. Our police department is in that area and other important people, which is citizens is in that area. Last week it was our area and we were down twice one week after straight after each other. I have reached out to our federal government in Washington, and I've also reached out to Lansing I've reached out straight to the governor's office. I've had been able to talk with someone there and they're know about the situation. And now I'm asking all citizens, if you can please contact your state rep and ask them to ask the Energy Committee to hold a meeting so that we can come and voice our opinions on the web on their web on your state reps. website. There should be a link that goes straight to him, send a contact information and we're going to try to get this taken care of. I will not let it up because it not only affects me It affects everyone in this community. We don't know who's next. So thank you for your time. Appreciate it and have a good evening.
Next section is for citizens participation. And if you have picked up a copy of the agenda, let me draw your attention to this as the citizens may speak for no more than two minutes. So I'm going to let the Hold on a second. I'm going to let the clock go to two minutes. And then after that, I'll give you an additional 15 seconds I realized that it's not possible to get everything and that you want to say in two minutes but we that time has been selected so that more people have an opportunity to speak. I can speak for my colleagues and say that many people have expressed to us individually their desire to be able to have their voices heard, and that everyone up here takes that very seriously. So this is an important piece for us every time that citizens would like to be heard. I asked you two things your name and your city of residence and these are four issues for items that appear on the agenda. So if you'd like to be heard, if you raise your hand, I'll acknowledge you and allow you to come up to the podium. I'm sorry. Just one second. Do we have a department here report? Forgive us for a second. It is part of our procedure to allow our department heads to provide us with information. We only have these meetings twice a month. So the department heads have priority that the two of those departments will be the mayor's office treasurer, the clerk finance, police and fire. So we have our treasurer here is bibs.
Good evening. Good evening, everyone. Good evening. I just came up to announced Wayne County treasurer was here at their previous meeting and he talked about a Taxpayer Assistance day and he was getting it in the works. I just want to announce that it will be happening this Thursday. March 9, from 10am to 6pm. At the Ernest deep board recreation center. Now this is for individuals that are pre foreclosure. I have sent out notices to everyone that was on the list that the Wayne County Treasurer gave me. Let's say they were in pre foreclosure status. So everyone that was in that status has received a notice letting them know that this Thursday, March 9 from 10am to 6pm. The Wayne County treasurer will be at the recreation center along with his staff and to help individuals that need assistance and paying their bills. So they won't lose their homes. Again, that's Thursday, this Thursday, March 9 from 10 to 6pm, at the Ernest T Ford Recreation Center on picket any questions? Thank you Thank you, ma'am. Thanks. Sorry, I came late.
Okay, so we'll go back to the citizens participation. Again, if you could raise your hand. And we'll acknowledge you sir, you will mind taking the podium and please state your name and your city of residence. And these are for agenda items. Only. Agenda Items on
time and usually you don't put this no bid. You guys don't put any bids but the bids that you guys want. If it doesn't have favoritism you you don't put it out there. But it's the other way around. If you guys are getting money off the bed, you don't put it out for bid. I asked for snow removal. And I asked for all this. And guess what? The clerk tells me. We didn't we say five business days. I said okay, we went back and forth. She didn't answer my request my FOIA 15 business days I gave her more than 15 business days. I filed that appeal decision because you guys failed to sit there and give me my FOIA request. 15.231 as a mandate, and I'm a public activist. I've been going around, checking on tow companies, snow removal, any contracts that the city benefits from putting money in their pockets, because for years and years and years, this has been affecting everybody in the community. I have got a tow bill from Oakland County, Wayne County for three $400 or $600 to get my car off. This is ridiculous. This is we got to put a stop to this. So I'm here today to ask about my FOIA and I served them with the appeal. He has to put it under record you got 10 business days for a public meeting. Okay, a closed meeting. And then you guys have to sit there and provide my information I asked you for it. That's all I have to say right now. Thank you.
Anyone have any questions for this person? Did you did you state your name sir. And this is what the administration are we
have a problem. Request they look at you like you're garbage. They don't want to answer you. You get the city clerk talking to me like garbage.
Thank you sir. But you will be you will be or two minutes there you will be thank you so much. Did you reach out to the mayor's office? Probably
email everyone
thank you very much, sir. Do we have any other citizens that would like to be heard? The president
because the clerk is Madam President. Yes, ma'am.
This is the clerk May I respond?
Yes, ma'am.
Well, you're right requests are not handled through the city clerk's office. All your requests, sorry. All your requests are handled through the legal department. Our legal department is the FOIA coordinator. We do not handle for your request. So I'm not understanding what the gentleman is talking about.
Just a second. Just wanted to clear that.
I just want to clear that. Sir,
please, we allowed you your two minutes to speak.
Yes, sir. Sir. Sir. Sir.
Sir, your two minutes has expired. Thank you very much, if you wouldn't mind having a seat. Council President. Yes, ma'am.
This is the mayor's office. Let's do it. Mr. Moss or has we have received his information and the ad today he should have received a email from the attorney's office, letting them know that he's asking for eight years almost of information, which takes quite a bit of time to get they are putting it together. It will all he also wanted us to waive the fees, which with that kind of time. We do not have a staff big enough to waive fees. That means that our attorney will be putting that together. He will be receiving his four year request and he's going back to 2012. So some of that information has to be looked up and also made available. Yes, he did. And also he sent information to Highland Park, Illinois.
My accident
email, okay. We understand that sir, we understand. But it went to Illinois. So we had to make sure that you will talk sending it to us. I attorney.
Can I interrupt for just a second? Hey, sir, sir. Whatever community you live in, I'm pretty sure if we went to your city council meetings, they would not allow one of us from Highland Park to have these outburst. Okay, okay, that's fine. That's fine. That's fine. I'm sorry. It's a public meeting. But we also trying to conduct the business of our city. I'm asking you to be polite to us. I'm asking you to be polite to us. You're interrupting the response of the mayor. You're interjecting you're a guest in our community and we'd love to have you here. You in this in this room. In this room. You are our guests. You are in our community. So we're asking you to to provide us. I'm trying to tell you, sir, that we would like for you to be polite with us in our house as we will be polite with you and your
well you do our foyer, she has 15 businesses to answer me.
Okay. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Councillor price anymore. Madam Mayor, is there any way
Miss Burton can address that Miss Burton today sent an email to him letting him know that he wouldn't be receiving his documents. But again, when you have one person doing that it takes a time a long time, especially when you're asking for multiple multiple years and you asked to have a fee waived, which at this time that has to we can do that.
Don't worry about the car pay whatever you guys want to pay whatever you guys charge him. I'm gonna pick just to let you know. Do we
have any other citizens that would like to be hurt? Do we have any citizens that would like to be heard? At this point, then, city council Do you have anything that you want to to add to this? So we'll move on to item number five Madam Deputy Clerk. Items
from City Council resolution to purchase tablets for council members.
City council How do you want to proceed on this?
Instead of
counsel how you want to proceed on Item five.
I'd like to move to the resolution to purchase tablets for city council members. I said
we have a motion to approve the resolution to purchase tablets for city council members made by Councilwoman Monica has been seconded by Councilwoman Martin Madam Deputy Clerk Would you please call the roll?
Councilmember Shafi. Sorry No. Martin
Yes.
Councilwoman Monica? Yes. Council Pro Tem Robinson. Yes. Council President Thomas.
Yes, motion carries four to one. Deputy Clerk The next item please.
Item six from Department of Public Works resolution to solicit bids for plumbing repairs at 13233 Hamilton.
Do we have someone from public works to fill us in on this? No How are you sir?
Very good. Thank you.
Answer any questions you need. This has just been previously brought to me. So this this was done by Mr. Burgess. As far as I know. These are repairs that do need to be done. And they're building as far as plumbing toilets. Leaking wax rings backflows
Councilwoman Robison, your name,
Michael Reese Reese. Yes. rd se
Councilman a sharp
Burgess
Mr. Burgess even more details in this watching
my previously I do have a paper just states part of what has to be prepared to wait until at least two weeks. Low. There's toilets leaking. There's faucets that are leaking and that is what I have
counted. So is it possible for us to see the art or the art? Is it possible for this count
would have to double check? I believe so. I don't don't quote me on that sir.
I don't see a price here for I'm just No, no,
no no problems. I guess
if I may counsel, yes. I mean, counsel for everything. Good evening Council. Good evening citizens. So Mr. Burgess did in fact reach out for a couple of estimates with respect to the work that needed to be done to determine whether or not it was going to be over 4000 or under $4,000. It's my understanding that there were a couple of places the bids were about that the bids the quotes were about 15 and 17 15,000 17,014 1000. So approximately around that amount is what you're looking at for those, those repairs. So we won't know we have to because it's over $4,000 it has to go out for competitive bid. And that's what's going to be done. So that's the approximate amount of
customers shopping
so Yes, Miss burry, you are correct. You know, I happen to be a licensed plumber. So if I'm on state, and for what I'm looking at here he is healthy order. I just want to make sure that it's going to be reasonable for the city. Just trying to watch out.
Right, that's why it's a competitive sealed bid. So the net will come before Council those bids. Okay.
Thank you guys for the Sharpie. I believe anything over $4,000 We have oversight on Right, that's true. Anything over 4000 We'll come back to us so that we can bid this process. Okay, so did you have any loan any other council members have any questions for this gentleman? Hearing no questions. We'll go back to the previous item which is item number six. Resolution to solicit bids for plumbing repairs at 13233. Hamilton. Thank you very much, sir. Council. How would you like to proceed on this item? I do have a question. I'm sorry. We have to take a pause and guess
what paper one of those minutes allotted?
Well, we have to ask the clerk Okay.
Madam Clerk
Council Pro Tem has a question about the the publication's that is will be put in. Are you aware of? The question is also broken. Robinson had a question as it relates to the posting of the bids for this plumbing work. Are you aware at this moment? Which papers that it will go in?
And then did for the city of Highland Park will be advertised in the Michigan chronicle as approved? By the city years ago? Miss she can't chronicle is the city of Highland Park. official paper. Thank you.
So we moved back to item six Council. Do you have any additional questions? Okay, moving back to item six Department of Public Works resolution to solicit bids for plumbing repairs at 13233 Hamilton City Council how should we proceed on this item?
I move to
approve the resolution to solicit basic repairs at 1333 Hamilton.
A motion has been made by Councillor pro Tim Robinson to approve the resolution to solicit bids for plumbing repairs at 13233. Hamilton. Do we have a second? Second? We have a second from Councilman schaffen. Madam Deputy Clerk Would you be kind enough to call it a role for us to assign
Councilman a Shafi? Yes, Councilwoman Martin. Yes, Monica?
Yes,
council Pro Tem Robinson. Yes. Council President Thomas.
Yes, Motion carries unanimously. Next item please Madam Deputy Clerk.
Item seven from police department resolution to approve the purchase of five police vehicles from LaFontaine. GMC to be funded by a burn discretionary grant.
Thank you, man. We have the police chief with us tonight. Jeep on the floor is yours.
Good evening Council Yeah, we're requesting to purchase these vehicles to assist in advancing our aging fleet. Currently, we're spending a tremendous amount of money in in maintenance to continue using these vehicles. Their lot. Most of them are out of age. Very old and difficult to get parts for. So this grant was earmarked for this purpose. So we're requesting to use this these funds to purchase five vehicles for the department.
Thank you very much, sir. Counsel. Do you have questions but
no, I just want to thank you and appreciate you for sending us the information in regards to this.
Thanks. Thank you, Councilman, Councilman.
To the second day. I know I told you in the email already, but I'll say it again. This is the first time we've ever gotten into complete information or any either it's ever come before this council since January. So I'm ready to shake. People want to make sure that we got everything that we can afford 16 by
Well, I can't take all the credit. I had the legal department as well. As the square help me help it. But I would like to take all the credit but I can't
get the floors open. Counsel. Do you have any additional questions for the chief? Counsel Martin, please.
You said this is the upgrade right from the cars that we have right now. Because
yes, right. Yes.
My question is, are we going with LaFontaine? Because they're in Highland Park. If we get any other poles from any other, no, so
we chose this vendor because their vendor with the Mitel pricing, which is a program where the state solicits bids for numerous items, including office supplies, things like that, and they negotiate the lowest possible price. So they this company has a vendor and they're agreed to give us my bill pricing.
Do you have any additional questions from council members? Hearing none, on Item seven for the police department resolution to approve the purchase of five police vehicles from LaFontaine. GMC to be funded by the Bern discretionary grant City Council. How should we proceed on this item?
I moved to approve the resolution resolution to approve the purchase of five police vehicles from lablab 14 GMC to be funded by a fireman discretionary grant. discretionary grant.
We have a motion on the floor from council malecha to approve the resolution. Do we have a second? A second? We have a second by Councilman Pro Tem Madam Deputy Clerk Would you please call the roll on the signup.
Councilman a Shafi Yes. Councilwoman Martin. Yes. Councilwoman Monica? Yes. Council Pro Tem Robinson. Yes. Council President Thomas.
Yes. Motion approved unanimously. Thank you, counsel. Thank you very much June. Having moved through our agenda. We are at the portion of our city council meeting where we turn it over to citizens participation. As I said earlier, this city council takes citizens participation very seriously. So we're going to turn the floor over to citizens who may speak it says here for no more than two minutes but at two minutes and 15 seconds I'll ask you to make room for someone else. If you'd like to be heard. Put your hand up. I'm going to start with the lady over here to the right to my left. Madam if you will. Come up to the podium state your name city of residence.
Hi, my name is Jamil Edwards, and I'm a resident of Highland Park. I was on the CD AC committee with that we've never met and I was appointed to the Board of Review and I just wanted on record that I want to withdraw from being on the CDAC committee. Thank you.
Thank you, ma'am.
Is there another citizen that you'd like sir? Okay. Miss I was the attorney asked me if you would be kind enough to put that in writing for us so that we can make a formal notation of it. It just seemed like an email. I don't know. I guess you'd be sending it to your district, one council person so that she could keep a record of it.
I think we've been in existence for a year and never met.
Okay, this is best for you're in a north area right? You're in okay.
But okay. Email it to
Councilwoman, Councilwoman Monica
Okay, is it as another citizen I would like to be heard, Madam here to the right, my left. Do you mind stating your name? My name is
why weight and I just want to say for years, I used to drive down my street, walk down the street and see these piles of garbage. I even tried to start a blog club. And I was wondering how can I manage this because it was a lie. The other day I rolled down the street and was gone. And I will just want to come here and tell the mayor and the DPW I mean this is wonderful cuz it was so much. I just did not you just don't know how happy I am and how good the plot looks decent now. It's just like I guess when there's so much DPW stuff on right and nobody else is going to attend to it. But this administration, I want to give them my hand. I am so happy
any other citizen would like to be heard Sir Who here on my left your right okay to different you different to the man next to you. I want that shirt
Hi everybody. How's everybody doing? My name is Mark Ashley price. I live in Highland Park. I'm under Highland Park School boy. Um, two things. It's the boy I know it's on that calendar dude that does Board of Review. Meetings are the meters open to the public. Okay. And my second plan was to kind of piggyback on what Mr. White was saying kinda that I well yeah. But I wanted to thank the mayor because I feel in my opinion that she goes up and beyond be our job as far as well the South Holland Park and being active in the city. And I think she goes above and beyond what's required for that man in my opinion, and I also want to thank City Council um because I noticed that you guys meet and so again, bad it's been one small smooth most move. And I think so far so good so far. The mayor in my opinion that demand both demand to say counselor during the day, it's not a good job so far, in my opinion. And that's all Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you.
Have another citizen I would like to be hurt. Sir if you would recognize up on my state your name and the city of residence.
Well, I'm a highland Parker Of course. When it was one Shannon. Good evening to Citizens Council, Mayor and all other officials. It was a few people at our ribbon cutting at Parker village a few weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure that I made it official so that they can feel welcome. We negotiated with a contracting and construction company to locate their headquarters here in Highland Park. So in the community and economic development, rain, you know, we're bringing another company into the city. So I want it to introduce my partner's Miss Alexis Thompson with we want green to and also Mr. Ken Morgan with green builders, licensed contractors and construction. All right, we'll be headquartered at the Parker village campus they will also be the company that will be taking over doing all of the construction and everything for our campus. Thank you very much. You all have a beautiful night. Oh, yes, ma'am. Please, Ma'am,
did you guys bring any contact information or anything?
Yeah, can you guys thank you, thank you.
We have an additional citizens that would like to be heard tonight. Yes, sir. And Yvette.
Nathan Harvey Highland Park. I'm here to ask if any city officials here tonight. Have any information regarding the marijuana applications and the scoring system and when if at all, they're going to be released?
I guess I'll turn that question over to the clerk so we don't we don't submit applications. And I haven't received any information. I don't know if my colleagues have Madam Clerk Are you on the line?
We need somebody from the clerk's office.
Hopefully we didn't lose your Madam Deputy Clerk
visit. Sorry, my
mouse is acting up. Okay.
So my question about an application.
Yes, once we're ready to go live with the procedure. The announcement will be made two weeks prior.
My question is when is the announcement coming?
We would
we're not at liberty to give that out yet because we want it to be a fair system. So to say. And then in two weeks, we're going to be releasing a two week notice. No two weeks prior to the applications being available for being two weeks prior to the applications being available. The notice will go out then that way everybody gets it at the same time.
No idea on when that notice two weeks prior will be happening. No sir. Thank you.
You're welcome.
We have an additional citizens I would like to be heard. Okay, now we're gonna turn it over to city council for council affairs and this is where City Council has the opportunity to address any of the whatever they like but a lot of times people will ask questions and we can open the floor up for our members to try and bridge those questions with some potential answers. I'm going to turn it over to our Councilman a Sharpie from the third district first.
Council president
if possible, I would like to reserve my marks for
last No sir we have a specified order and we will always have district three first or this okay.
nhB how are you? How are you? Great. So, you know, I love this city dearly. You know.
This is been a true honor to have been up here to serve
to be your councilman for district three. I like to read you something from the city charter and it states persons eligible for signals. A person who was in default of the city or county away or any school district located in the city shall not be eligible to assume any city office. So I read that because that applies to me. Yeah, yeah. So So in my quest for the truth in my quest to make sure that the residents of the Highland Park are well taken care of and will look out for when I want to be paid my city taxes for my house. I thought I pay the entire amount. But come to find out Wayne County on the head and he paid 2021 So 2022 went unpaid, which makes me in default, the whole deceit. Justice is not justice. If it does not work across the board for the entire city and its residents and elected officials. It can hold the claim that is justice if it's unfair. And if it only applies to a certain group and not the other group. In order for justice to be justice, it must apply off the board equally. And that includes me. I amount above the law. I don't expect any favor from the city. I don't expect this city to stand up and say no, firstly, you don't have to abide by that the law is the law and it shall be respected. And as a result of that, at the end of this week, Friday of this week, I will be tendering my resignation from the seat on city council. And I'll give you a little background as I've done as I've always been I've done my best to try to help her protect but you can help me take time apart when you have a similar problem that other members on this city board has is what your council treasurer has embezzled. $90,000 from the city of Highland Park 90 grand she's older money now for over eight years. She was not due to run in this election. She wasn't due to run in the last election, but here she sits and you're painful. That money came on your general fund. It came out of your coffers and you're paying for it right now. And she still has her job. And the court knew well in advance that she owed this money and nothing was done about eight years old despite no payment plan. No understanding at any time. She just figured she didn't have to pay and our previous predecessors allow her that delusion but 90 days on is sitting on our lap. We're currently being sued by Robert Davis for her sitting on the city council. And so what he assumed right now to him, I can make blocks but we're gonna pay Robert Davis and she's already got our money. I run pockets this way. Okay. Your council president in his way oh, just for the Liberty school. He owes over $30,000 in taxes they want to be $12,781 Okay, money is just in water alone. Just for Liberty store. He knew about it that he did nothing. And nobody said anything to him about it and anybody who wants this information. I have documents and packages here today, which I will be passing out afterwards. So you may read for yourselves and be well educated. The loan must apply across the board. We're all at fault. So I'm seeing on the record and I'm calling for this thing and so they come in here to the city and remove everybody who was in violation of their oath of office and that includes me, but since I'm resigning isn't necessary, I guarantee you they're not going to resign. They're not going to step back. Even though they know they owe you this money, then you're not going to make them step down. So the only way that you're going to give it to them is if this thing and so adjuster comes in here and removes them. Your court knew well in a nice and I have documents each and every last one of you she knew well in advance that he owed money and the treasurer owed money. She has done it in her duty she is buying a hold of office and she needs to be removed this way. So only record before the city right now today. I'd say as your former counsel. I tendered my resignation as a Friday this week from the seat and I thank you he for giving me the opportunity to serve you and you justice speaking like he does

Hi, everybody. First, as always acknowledge my pastor, Superintendent reginal tritely. And I just wanted to tell y'all I love y'all
we will get to
I guess it's my turn. I'm really sorry to see you go off your CDAC Miss Edwards. It's extremely difficult to get people to participate in the boards and commissions that we have in the communities little tiny town at 900 people. And over the last few years since 2013. When I was on the planning commission, one of the challenges that we had is getting people to participate. I do understand that the CDA C's came with the last charter, and that there wasn't a lot done with the CDA C's and it might have been frustrating to kind of wait to try and figure out what did you do next? I would hope that you would at least as a leader in that group, help next person? Maybe they have an opportunity to get more active. I had an opportunity to walk with Miss Monica this weekend. That's something that's really important to hear from the citizens and give feedback directly to the mayor's office. That's really the only way that we're going to do it. Everybody in their own little cluster. It's difficult for us to communicate our pain points. Mr. Bennett, Reginald Bennett lives down here on California Street and his house was hit by a car a few months ago and it was warm. And then a couple of days ago, we had somebody speeding down Oakland that almost hit his house a second time that Mr. Bennett has put boulders up around his house. But the concerns that people that live off of Oakland have with speeders, it's different than what somebody might have on third. And so that's what the CDA sees do they elevate the level of conversation I was in your district today for the power outage. And I got calls from some of your neighbors to say as soon as the power went out, AJ, the power's out and its input from the actual citizens that keep us on our toes. It was a cascade of phone calls from the citizen to me from his Manica to me. I was able to get over to downloads manager on downs manner and talk to Mr. derail read and get a real understanding of some of the challenges that they face over there how they've been plagued by problems since the Housing Commission fell apart. But that information can't get up to people in the administrative offices without the help of the black clubs and the CDAC. So I'm sad to see you go but you know, you can be a resource for people. Mr. Harvey, there was a WebEx in January, put on by the Michigan regulatory Association. I mean administration about medical marijuana for municipalities. They provided a lot of information to elected officials. I was on a call. The clerk was on the call. They're moving at the pace appropriate to do it, right. Unfortunately, the city was sued a few years ago, there was somebody who wanted to put their own ordinance on the books that totally disrupted the process in 2019. If you notice in 2019, the mega companies came in from California and Colorado. And because we were in litigation, the previous city council did not have the logistical latitude to move. And so our city got stuck in the mud. And so it's taken a lot for that process to get out there. The city is working diligently on trying to make that something that's viable for those people in our community who actually want to be in that business. It's a very sticky situation, but 67 days we've been in office, so I would ask that this this latest group of government officials that you'd be patient with us, and I'm sure people will get the information out to you shortly. So I made it a point during the previous cities city council meeting, to say that I would prefer not to put people's personal business out in city council. In fact, in a discussion about the border review, someone made the mistake of perjuring themselves. They made an improper statement in an effort to sway the vote, and that is a crime. That's a federal crime and the clerk I'm sorry, to treasurer came on and admonished that person, and based on my knowledge of the law, and my experience studying law. I did not want to see a person who might have been passionate about something perjured themselves and so I asked the clerk I interrupted and I said, please stop with the information that she has, she could have gone on and it would have created a greater framework for that person who had perjured themselves. But I didn't want to do that, because I thought it was inappropriate to bring personal matters into city council. But you guys all have a document in front of you and I want you to look at the word
default.
Everybody's probably got a half a dozen dictionaries. In their house.
The word default so
this is very interesting. This is defamatory and it's slanderous because I am not in default of anything. When I registered to be a candidate. I was vetted by the clerk. I'm very happy to be here.
And I know that I am
legally fine. And I look forward to serve in this city. And I would like to thank you all for joining us today for the city council meeting, and I would hope that there would never be anyone that you know, malicious enough to try to put your personal business in the street having completed all business of the city. We are finished here tonight, and the chair would entertain a motion
to adjourn.
I move that we adjourn.
We have a motion to adjourn by Councilwoman Monica, do we have a second have a second by Councilwoman Martin. All those in favor?
