Thank you, Sandra for a wonderful presentation. And yes, we do have a lot of questions that I've been answering then and saving some for us to answer ly. So the very first question we have is about hybrid class is a hybrid class considered a remote class? And that is a question there were like few of them
hybrid class and Elena Raby you guys can happen but hybrid class is appropriate, as long as you are fulfilling your in person portion of that class. Hybrid means it's in person, and it is online, not just online, so you have to make sure you're fulfilling that, that in person component as well.

Graeme Randi can i I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I just wanted to kind of fill in alone add to what Sondra is saying in so what that really means is that the class that is offered, as you know, should require a physical presence requirements. So in other words, you should, you know, the cash required to come to take final exams, midterms, you know, project, you know, presentations, etc. So make sure that that class that you're enrolled in the hybrid class, that it has that physical presence requirement. Sorry, go ahead. Yeah.
Okay, thank you. The next question we have is about assistantship, those who have graduate students as a students with an assistantship working at your pod need a work authorization to do that assistantship?
Well, I think that goes back to what I was saying, as you have to make sure what type of payment it is, if it's a for service, or non service payment, non service, you would not need to have the work authorization. But for service, you would need to depending on what you're doing. But you can always confirm with your department in HR, what the payment is, if it's for service or non service, there's a code that relates to that.
And related to that question is Do students have to get on campus or off campus work authorization from ISO?
The on off
is either on campus or off campus.
Oh, they didn't mean like on off like the
like on campus job. They're asking whether I so like they needed work authorization to grant is to grant them to work on campus, and also off campus. So if you're a
J, one student, yes, you need to talk to us for the on campus work authorization. If you're an f1 student, no, we don't we don't provide on campus work authorization. But you need to make sure you've completed your your immigration check in before doing that, because that's what activates your your on campus work authorization. Was that the whole question?
Yeah, they thought off campus. You have to be eligible, you have to become eligible for off campus work authorization after one academic year. So the best way is to come talk to us because it could be students specific situation. So we encourage you to talk to us if we have a specific situation.
Next, I'm sorry, ready to jump in and we'll just clarify because we are getting a lot of questions about employment and deployment of realization. So on campus, if you don't have one student, it is on campus, meaning you work at the University of Rochester, up to 20 hours per week. During the academic year. You are automatically eligible. You don't need permission from us or authorization. You can do that. But again, that's on campus in Rochester Rochester no more than 20 hours per week. When school is in session, you are an academic here. For j one students, you have to have a special authorization from our office to work on campus. So that's on campus, anything off campus, most of you will have to wait at least one academic year before you become eligible. Most programs don't require off campus internships or practicals, or any kind of work for us to be able to authorize your off campus employment. So for most of you, again, this is not something you need to worry about immediately. I would encourage you to read our website, we have information about CPT and OPG, and academic training all those types of off campus employment authorizations, which you may be interested in, in the future. As Senator pointed out, we also have workshops coming up this fall, which you're welcome to attend to get educated about OPG, and CPT and academic training, those of you who are j one students, but at this point, most of you are not eligible for off campus employment, when you're eligible for it, you will need written authorization, you will need prior authorization and you work with our office on that to get that. So it's not something you're automatically eligible for. And also, I want to add that any kind of off campus employment must be very much related and connected to what you're studying. So there are some questions I saw in the chat, which on that q&a, which were like I you know, there was a job somewhere in a tea shop or in off campus or something like that, that's not going to be possible because any off campus work has to be directly related to your program of study to what you're studying at the University of Rochester. So this is just a summary. I'm not gonna go into a lot of details, because it's it's a lot of information. And again, I encourage you to look up information our website, because we will have a lot of details if you're interested. And or attend the workshops, which we're going to have this semester, where we're going to go into much more details about any kind of types of off campus employment and deployment of taxation. No problem. Thank you so much for the detailed explanation, Elena. We're getting a lot of questions about address changes. And so this is twofold question. One is how to report address change. And secondly, do I only have to report address change with my us address or with my foreign address as well. So
so we will only need your us address, update. If you if you are moving or changing your address, you will need to make sure you updated ISO within 10 days of that move. That's why I also said if it is a temporary address, like you're only going to live there for a month, you still need to make sure you've updated us with that temporary address as well. To make that update, you'll go on our website and you'll be able to find the menu for you our compass. And you can log into your compass with your Net ID and your dual login VPN. And you can find the form for address reporting. And you'll be able to update your address there. You can always confirm with us, if you haven't heard from us within like two weeks that it's been updated, and we want to make sure it's been updated. And that's how you would make sure you you completed your reporting obligation as an F one or j one student and updating your address appropriately.
Thank you. Next question is about the travel signature? Do I have to get to students have to get travel signatures every semester? Or are especially if they travel to Canada, like routinely during the semester or during the academic year? Do they need a travel signature every time they travel?
I can answer this one. Thank you for bringing that up. Because yes, I saw quite a few questions. In the q&a about travel and travel signatures in particular, your trial signature is valid for one year 12 months. So you already have it when when we issued the original your first date 20 August 2019. We signed in the Travel section of the form so the signature is valid for 12 months, one year. It you can use the signature for multiple trips. You don't need a new signature every time you travel outside of the US and come back. And also doesn't matter if it's Canada or anywhere else you don't need to be signed every semester. It only needs to be done. It needs to be renewed every 12 months if you're planning to travel so at the time of your return to the US this travel signature must be less than 12 months old. That's really the rule so it's quite flexible otherwise you again multiple trips during this 12 months is Fine, you don't need a new signature new i 20 Unless there's some other changes to UI 20, which need to be made. But the signature is valid for 12 months.
Thank you. And I think the one last question at the many questions coming in about how to get a work authorization. And I think we already had a slide that we have workshops coming up regarding workouts or different types of work authorization, mainly off campus. And but if you have any specific questions, we encourage you to email us to our ISO questions. Thank you, Sandra. Yes, go ahead and take a look at this slide and plan on attending. As Elena said, None of you are eligible for any off campus work authorization right now. But you're definitely curious and want to know more. So just just to know more and have more information so that when you are eligible, you can make that decision. Feel free to attend any of these workshops, workshops that are coming up this fall semester. So I'll give a couple of minutes to everybody to kind of scan the QR code and take a look at these different workshops. We also have lots of information on our website, as we have been saying that as one of the great resource, where we talk about your different types of employment authorizations on campus off campus. So feel free to take a look at your our website as well. And I think with that, I think we are we are getting a lot of questions regarding how to apply for an SSL and why am I eligible for SSN, a lot of work authorization, a lot of travel signature related questions, and I still see all those questions are still unanswered. But we encourage students to use a lot of resources, because we may not be able to answer all your questions, which are sounds like lot of specific to your situation. And for that reason, we encourage you to reach out to us via email, you can use virtual drop in hours, and you can also make an appointment with us. So there are a lot of ways you can reach us.
