Each Thursday, I'll give you the scoop on the good news coming out of Washington, and how you can get involved with this thing called democracy. Welcome back to another episode of The Orca news podcast. Quick mini episode special edition hot off the presses wanted to give you a quick update an episode 96. I talked about the status of the debt ceiling deal, the law that would need to be passed had gone through the house by Thursday of last week when I had released this episode. It didn't end up passing like my mini crystal ball said. And then by Thursday, it had already passed the Senate and the president signed it on Saturday. So I think this is a great resolution that we avoided the x as of June 5, when this episode may be coming out that day or the next day. It's great to see that a deal did come together. Was it pretty getting there? No. Do I hope that this starts a conversation on spending as a whole. Potentially. I think you know, as a reminder, I said in Episode 96. Some of the contours of the deal included that they needed to get all 12 appropriations bills across the floor or they would face a 1% Shall we say hair cut across spending? Do I think that's going to help maybe spending as a whole potentially, I think seeing and what we've seen come out of the deal is that both sides are claiming victory. I think that's pretty normal when it comes to a big deal like this, but we avoided a default. The US government has never defaulted on its debt. We pay our bills. We we have a lot of debt. And I'm going to cover that in this week's episode of the podcast. But for now, sit it pass the House. It passed the Senate the President has signed it. Hopefully Congress can revisit spending as a whole we'll see. Thanks for tuning in to this quick episode giving you the rundown the special edition and tune in as always to the organ news podcast on Thursdays. Thanks so much.
