All right, so we're here with Caroline Martin. Caroline, you are leading for the second night in the one-star. Tell us a little bit about your ride out there today.
She's a new mare. We got her into the yard about two weeks ago from Emil Spadone and Paul Hendricks as a sale horse. Actually that's a really cool thing about my bosses and our sales program is that we exchange horses if they don't work out and, depending on time period and the horse, we work with the client. So funnily enough, I bought a three year old at an auction from Paul Hendricks, unbroke, and the horse was just not suitable for the eventing world. So he actually gave me this mare as a trade. I got to play with her for a few days. And I said, 'Yeah, Paul, I think she'd be a good eventer.' So he he just followed through his deal, so I got the ride on this horse.
So tell me a little bit about your plan going into tomorrow since you don't really know her.
Lee, my sales rider at home, he took her to a beginner novice the next day after we got her just to see what she did. She obviously jumped up to 1.35s. So he took her and she's very good cross country then he took her into a training level the following weekend. And she was good, so then we decided since I'm coming here anyways, it would be good experience just to train her because I'm thinking about keeping her, if I can find a syndication or she'll get sold to someone next week, if not. I just wanted to take it jump by jump to give her a good experience. I think she is a horse for the top. She has enough blood on paper. She's got a fabulous brain. I taught her literally yesterday how to leg yield right before the test, and she was fine with that. It's hard to find horses like that.
Yeah, it was a beautiful ride. How was it going into today? How were you feeling just not knowing her very well? Were you playing a bit safe?
I just rode what I felt, you know? She's jumped obviously to a high level, so it was just more me being able to give her a good ride. That's a great thing that I've learned a lot over the years in sales programs and catch riding. So I catch rode a lot. I love doing it. It is really fun, especially on nice horses.
Yeah. So it always makes it better. Right? Yeah.
She's been properly produced and my boss, Emil Spadone, had her in the country for a year. I'm very used to getting horses developed by his program and then catch riding them at a show a week later. So it's easy when it's in the program.
Well, it was a beautiful round and congratulations and good luck tomorrow.
