Let's go. This is your radio your Station Inspire. Inspire Inspire Radio. Welcome everybody to Renaldo creative Show. Today I got a special guest. Her name is Tamika key. She is a recording artist model and entrepreneur today we will, her music career and more. She got an up and coming album coming out and she's is currently working on that while she's dealing with her haters, so they're reporting her Instagram and her Instagram was deleted. But we're gonna talk to her and learn more about her. I see that she's in the building. Hello tah nika How you doing?
What's going down? You're not a vibes this your girl big ki che the route really appreciate
our first time actually, you know, doing a interview interviewing you. And that's crazy, because we have done a lot together.
Oh, we have I really appreciate everything that you've been doing the like spotlight, just different projects that I do. I think the first project that you had really started helping me. Market might have been rich girls then you just definitely support you to same but yeah, I think you've been rocking with me. My average girls days. And I was like what last year?
Yes. Um, yeah, found your clubhouse? Or did I? Did you meet someone somewhere else? I don't remember.
Actually it was clubhouse when clubhouse first started when you had to get invited. So we kind of been rocking since the beginning of clubhouse. And around this time, I had dropped Rich girls. So yeah.
Yes, it's just that a lot of people left the app. So you know that that happened. Like disconnected with you. But I decided to reach out to you and reconnect with you. Because even now the artists that was on in August, they're not even on the app no more. Because a lot of artists have a lot of expectations. But one thing I love about you, you always you and your team, because I gotta give a shout out to your team. You guys are always working. So unlike some of the artists with you know, that have highest expectation but don't put in the work you are really working. So you really don't need a clubhouse. So could you tell us about your journey so far how you have progressed, as a artist,
I'm definitely I feel like I've just learned a lot about the business side of music. Starting now initially, it was just about making the music and my passion for music. And don't get me wrong I for one, because if you don't really got a passion for it, you're not going to go on it. And I know this to be a fact because there's a lot of mainstream artists, and you could tell that they just, they don't really care about the music side of it. They just care about the business side, which, you know, that's cool that that them but like for me, I feel like that's what's been keeping me going throughout my journey is just learning the business and learning. You know the ins and outs and that really has helped me grown as an artist to take my craft more serious on a professional level
One thing that I do like about you is your voice. Like as I listened to your talk, you sound just like you do when you rap. You have a unique voice and that's why I like your music and I like your style. And I don't think that no other female rapper signed or unsigned sound like you, which is great. I love originality brought with you. So could you tell me how? Tell us how you developed your style. Was it natural? Or is it something, too? And also, I know you do you do? Love you love Nicki Minaj because I see you on Twitter. You always posted Nicki Minaj one thing I will say a lot of rappers copied Nicki Minaj but you have your own style but did Nikki influence you?
Yes, definitely. She I wouldn't say she's the first female rapper I started listening to and fell in love with I won't lie and say that but like far just her being so consistent and just keeping me locked in. She definitely been a major influence but I've made that not just because I love her so much. You're not I'm saying because I still want people to love me for me and not love me because I'm a bar in that. You know, I'm trying to sell or be like Nick. So I just always wanted to stay on my own line because it's easy to do. I want to say herein lies say, there wasn't times where I'm like, Whoa, let me try to Nicky route. Like, I'm just being rude. And I'm like, nah, this routing can work for me because this is herd Lane and I instantly and I'm glad that I was able to get that in check early on in my career because I feel like a lot of these girls still copy harness just like loud as everything is given makes me and then some of them don't even give her credit but that's neither here nor there. But for me wanting to stay true to me
is like now all ladies, that's all right, trying to make their voice deep and sound like glow Rila now got a record deal. And it's just crazy because they did they did the same with cardi cardi came out, you know cardi is a Nicki Minaj clone. It was some people probably gonna hate me for that it was trying to copy cardi now gorilla, the whole music is changing. Now if you have noticed, I'm hearing people change their flow and trying to be like aurilla but they don't get it gorilla has what you had. She's different. So that's why the record labels gravitated to her. And then the song, you know, blew up even though I heard that DJs was not filling that song original song that blew her up. Mm hmm.
Yeah, I heard some about that. Yeah, it's just important that people stay true to their sound like when it comes to been artists, that's the most important thing because you can have some really dope lyrics. I know a lot of great writers. But I just think it's their sound that people don't gravitate to. So you know, that's just really important. A lot of people like you said, Because glow den came up. Now other people want to have a deep voice. Don't get me wrong, some sound, you may need a higher pitch or a lower pitch depending on you know, your engineers should be able to, you know, fix your voice to with what makes sense to the beat. But to just try to change your whole everything to you know, be like, oh, whoa, she's the new eighth girl. Let me try to be like her. That's where people Buck up.
I definitely agree with that. And it's just me shaking my head because I'm looking at some artists switching up their style they already had, I'm talking about female artists right now. They had jokes down they had you know, people was listening to them. And then they now trying to be chlorella. I mean, they send me stuff. He's like, check out this video and I'm gonna I'm gonna listen to it. And I hear the chlorella and I'm like, Oh no, that's like all the dudes trying to sound like dirty.
Yeah. Is the people gonna catch ruin? And you know, people ain't gonna gravitate to you not more because it's like, they love you for you not because you sound like GlobalGiving you know or whoever Nicki whoever you know what I'm saying it's just best to and then a lot of these girls got access you know what I'm saying? So a lot of these just being where they from and how they like you said how I talk how to sound cool to grow though you know, you know learning yourself and learning your sound but like you said in fiscal free where I can say like to sound like, Now you sound like glow or now. People will catch on it especially DJs.
So what type of music into the stars rap music because you know, we know you're a rapper, you can also say listen to and what are some. So you know, these interviews is great because your fans can learn what is some music that your fans wouldn't even utilize?
If you really want to know that type of music, I listen to add my official artists and tiny cookie che and pretty much the music that's playing on there's artists that I pick and I really am a r&b type of girl for real for like r&b music, and I'm a 90s baby. So after I went to the Millennium tour you found me so that should say a lot like I like to pleasure P than a Bobby Valentino's Shanti Alia you know that type of Beyonce and I'm talking to Beyonce when she first came out even before like dangerously in love no Uh, dangerously in love Eric, you know, so I really am a r&b type of girl.
Alright, so that sounds like you should radio more because we have more of us. We do play like the new stuff but the program is for millennials because that's yeah so you know you're gonna hear Omarion B 2k Destiny yay
sounds like and I actually listened to one of your shows where you it was specifically for r&b and I'm like yes this is the type of music that I like listening to on a regular you know even before sometimes we got to go turn up at the club like even a club they start off with the r&b vibe like the r&b vibes is really good give people in those zones
Yeah, and then we take it back to the old school every 11 o'clock we have r&b sessions for the lovers might spin it to like one o'clock so you know playlists we got real program got the antibodies they're trying to teach che and then we have like artists in it in their music 10 o'clock and the clock is to r&b session and then it's like if our goal right now and do r&b Because you know people just love especially so
yeah, r&b is the vibe for anybody. No matter where you found it hit different is timeless music. I love timeless music.
Like yeah, I can I can do new stuff, but you know, I still love the 90s music I also like 80s and 70s also,
but again, I think I might put a lower tree on my album I'm like 85% Damn moving more to like 88% but this got me thinking I'm I put a little r&b vibe on my album.
Okay, so I know you got to African aren't we playing on the radio station and salsa and a lot how did you come up with the concept the first time I heard you really saying it
um so I'm like a net working guru and that's why I hate when people that don't fuck with me that come into my network and be trying to steal my connection also one thing you can fuck with me Aquarius I'm not one of those people that don't want to share my play social media we all post the network but um I have met a Nigerian artists on Instagram and you know a lot of people be thinking these people that's from these other countries the fake pages is what they like to call my these are be some of your biggest supporters. And you know, my kids, they their dad them from Donna's born and raised. You know, I gravitate to foreigners and Africans and you know, just people from different cultures. I just always been like that. And I heard I don't know what made me follow him. But I ended up following me. And I heard his song on audio Matt, he had a link in his bio, he don't really he still to this day don't really post music or nothing. You know, because they go through a lot over there in their country. And I'll just click the link in his bio. And I heard his voice and his song and I'm like, Hey, we got to do a song and it took a lot to get that song with him, you know, just for him being in Nigeria and just different engineers but we made it happen. But he was really like the inspiration behind it. You know, just me hearing him and I'm like, yeah, I gotta give a shout out to imagery.
Yes, definitely an audio man is huge. I'm on audio matches like you know, the impact of Africa and I think my the biggest countries that listen to my music gonna so Oh, wow. Yes, they port but then also that happened because I I had a magazine and I promoted in Garner kids and the people and Donald's really rockin with the kids magazine. So even gonna magazine copy me they did a bad job but they copied it. So that's why even till today like my biggest supporters is like from Ghana when I'd be doing these mix shows they come into my clubhouse room. I want to give a shout out to the gate sign you should definitely link up with him. Then there's a new guy that's on the Inspire website is mainly me que je He is amazing. He's from Ghana.
I've never been no one nobody from Ghana. I would not be against that at all.
If you need soft spoken words, there's a hardest to leech collection. He has a real deep voice he live in London but he's from Nigeria.
So shout out to London just dropped this song with the artists down there in the UK. My boy boy 64 rooms but our song turn it up is going to rerelease on the 29th of this month. He had to fix some things but shout out to the UK.
So are you into any type of UK music like through UK tutorial or
not my song with a call booty check. That's definitely like that was my first this is when I first started doing music. And I didn't even know what the drill song because at this point I wasn't really knowing that different genres like that from a rappers perspective because I'm just not getting my feet wet. Really. I just know what sounds good but now I'm knowing like okay, that's a drill. Just be like I really into it. So when I first started back in 2019 My song Udi check it was on this really? Dope celebrity DJ DJ chocolate that was his name we lost contact with my own page got disabled. But he had an all girls mixtape and he put boogy check on I was so happy but one of the girls fucks it up because they wanted to make their song as singles. So he just deleted the whole shit or whatever. But booty chick is still out on SoundCloud and I was actually that beats I think somebody from a different country. Hi, hit me up. And let me have that beat. So yes, I felt good rooms they for sure. I definitely took a drill music and drill. I'm not New York trying to make that day way. But it's definitely like a UK kind of thing for sure. In my opinion.
It's actually a sick Cago thing. But
I've heard that I've heard
Yeah, Chicago always create music the UK and New York over No, but it was made in Chicago. Chicago, they always create like dope genres like house. Juke and foot work
so yeah, definitely
real come from Derek cheeky follow them guys.
Yet I start Irvingia but don't don't don't UK boys and shit. They do not like that real heavy rock drill. For sure. But I like I like it all you know whether it's my style or not like I've tried all different genres a chance. You never know.
So there's a lot of black artists with record. Do some just say it. Do you think it is? Do you feel is dead? Because there's a lot of record labels don't care about town. They just care about numbers. Do
you feel like hip hop is dead? I just feel like the industry is like Nicki said it's becoming whitewash as far as like hip hop is concerned. And then hip hop is going to always be what hip hop is going to be because, you know, especially a lot of indie artists. And then on social media. I run across a lot of people that just is just straight hip hop. I'm like, this is rad like this is that it's making me feel like I'm back to the 80s type shit but As far as the industry when it comes to the record labels, they will really give a fuck about that they care about goofy shit, you know if you can go viral and that's really all it really takes nowadays and just no matter which you go by record, if you can go viral in some way somehow and then make a phone. You got to record do
speaking a viral if you had an opportunity to work with a splice would you like would you want to collaborate with her since we'll be talking about viral? Yeah, I
will stuck with her. I liked her last song. It's a little bopper. Whatever is, you know, nine days it ain't all about it is the best lyricist. You know, because everything's a bar on the bar on the bar. Sometimes it just can't you give me a good caption and your music. You know, nowadays you can get people just because your song can give them a good Instagram caption. So you know, she she pops in. I would I would do a song with her. She's popping in her own right.
Did you hear that? I think is M L E chopper. It has so much music has crazy. Did you hear the song? I think he got a song called it spice.
No, I thought it was with shorty cuz she had promoted it but no, I haven't checked it out. I'm not really a fan. Like no, no, he popped room but I mean,
I mean, it's a dope song. He's she's not up there. Okay, she knows Okay, so many words. You're saying he fell in her? You want to get her? Oh, wow. Yeah.
Man, how he wanted him want to be serious and all that and all of that. But I get it. It's just music or whatnot. But I don't think she goes either way go. He just broke up with your groans that she had I guess she was way under.
Okay, so when it comes to male rappers old or new school some of your favorite artists or groups
my wife Top Five is mainly men and it is sad but I don't know how to happen but it just happened I got Jeezy do make LL Cool J and then Nikki was definitely like but she's she's a female but she she just she can go neck and neck with you. But Jeezy is like one of my favorites. Like I just always loved every album that he dropped. Even I was like being younger. And I come from the project. You know what I'm saying? So I listened to his music. I gravitated he was like one of my favorites that I listened to. Like no rappers for sure.
Okay, awesome. So who is your favorite? Underground? I'm not gonna say nd underground rapper underground mean that they're not signed to a record deal. They could have been signed to a record deal. But they're not on the label right? Like who's your favorite? Or they did their release underground. Do you have any artists like pheromone? pheromone Royster five nine Are you into like artists like that? Because Allah because Allah Conway, any artists like that?
I'm not familiar with them, but personally, honestly, no. For real. I really don't. I would say I do like Shirdi that she got a song with with Scratch with stocks were short his name. Millie flow, Millie. I think I might be I like her and Dennis the other one though. I slept with the other shorty too. And they got a song together.
You should definitely check out some of the people are just named adult. Conway is Joe. He's not
not what's her name? She got that song we not scratch off now but shorty ha But anywho you said I should check out who the artists you name.
You just check off Conway. Check out. Also check out no names. She's a female rapper. She is dope. And, you know, she got a lot of like a lot of people break over her. So like that. So I like you thought of people raving over you. And you know, you got a bright future. So definitely check out no name. She is dope.
Yeah, definitely check her out. I like supporting independent artists anyway because we really are the ones that put in the work the most. I'm not gonna say that people that are signed or you know when they wait a mainstream, you know, because they get them wrong. But if you want to get signed as long as you do make sense. But I just really like to support male or female, independent artists. Because even when Dez Jada waited bestfriend that's why you never give up because a lot of people were saying she couldn't rap. And now she got her his song with Mariah sciences is she's an independent artist. So is it all about the consistency for ru, software independent artists, for sure.
So going back to you, your thoughts are really powerful. This is your first album.
This is going to be my debut album. I've dropped a couple of EPs, but this is going to be my debut album, so I'm really, I'm almost done with it, honestly, but I'm just not rushing. And I'm not giving a date on when I'm dropping. But it is almost them. But I'm not going to rush because this is my debut album. Like no, I wanted to a bit. I know have a release party out of state somewhere, you know, but I definitely.
Alright, so what can we expect from this album, if you could share with us
is going to be up beat vibes like club bangers like it's called M hill. But it's not going to if you heard it, title, I'm healed. You probably don't think there's gonna be like passionate slow phones, like it's not going to be that like I'm hitting me. Outside when I'm having a good time. Anybody could get this smoke like I'm up and I'm out here. You feel me so it definitely will be some club bangers in some trap B might be some Afro beats on there. But like I said, shit, I'm trying to get an r&b vibe on there. So it's just gonna be a lot of different vibes. It's gonna be a lot of different vibes.
You should definitely quite do some because Afro beats blowing up right the labels are Afrobeat artists, and Afrobeat. Artists are hungry. You know, they are, it's a it's a different energy when you deal with fop artists,
ya know for sure. For sure for sure. That's off hook what Afrobeat music is just say automatically puts you in a good mood and makes you want to dance and catch a vibe Yashodhara FOB artists out there
so I know you used to model off so let's talk about that a little How did you become a model and how long did you well I guess you still model but how long did you model?
Um Well I mean like you said I still a model. But I started modeling as a little girl like just doing beauty pageants my great aunt who passed away my arms when she got me into like beauty pageants, and all of that as a little girl, I just always been a tomato and I've always really done music. That just where people really don't know, you know, anytime I will go to an audition they will ask What else do you do besides models? You know, they weren't challenging, okay? Just think like oh our models like we can go to these. Like and this is for the young girls that want to come up like they want to know what else do you do most of the time, they want you to be evident either, you know, at can you ask? Can you dance can you say they will make me write in my audition? So you know what I'm saying? So it's always been neck to neck. It's always been Econet from but yeah, I've been modeling since a little girl
okay and that's a lot of people want to know this. Where are you from?
I am from Columbus, Ohio. Born and raised. I do live in Zanesville, Ohio, which is not too far from Columbus. I lived there for about eight years, but I'm from Columbus home at about nine.
I know a lot of people struggle in Columbus, for people who have never been to Columbus. Could you tell us a little bit about what you read?
Well, a lot of people don't struggle here because it's so easy to get a job a lot of people like I've been shocked and I've been hearing like people from different states come here but then when they they like it's just so easy to get a job but if you if you really want to In, you know, be in the industry in the music business, you definitely do have to travel. Like as far as getting yourself established, you know making money, you will make money from it. But if you try to be in the music business model if you try to add any of those type of things be on TV, you definitely will want to be able to travel like, that's why I keep a social media presence, because I can network with so many different people in different areas. My city is not poor, not at all. So you can grow, but this is not a entertainment city.
