Good afternoon, everybody and welcome to another live iThemes Training event. My name is Nathan Ingram. I'm the host of your iThemes Training and today I'm joined by Kathy Zant who is the Product Marketing Manager for Kadence. Kathy is going to be talking to us today about some clever ways people are using Kadence cloud. Hey, welcome back to iThemes Training Kathy, just how hot is it in Texas today?
Good question. It was 111 yesterday. Oh, it's only 100 today. Oh cooldowns happening.
It's like fall. It sounds like follows in the air. Yeah.
It is. It is it's very, very Arizona out right now. Like dryer.
Crazy. So we were just talking in the pre show with someone who's from Trinidad and Tobago. And I think we're all just very, very, very jealous of that geography. But while we're you know before we get too far focused in on that tell us what we're going to cover today.
Well, we are going to look at cool and clever ways that people are actually at this moment creating additional revenue streams using Kadence cloud and using the Kadence Child Theme builder plugin, both available in the full bundle, both available at 25% off if you don't have it yet. That's in the handout too and also the chat. So we're going to look at how people are doing this and also I there's going to be some technical stuff here but I also want to talk about the strategy behind it and sort of like this overarching thinking that goes into doing something like this.
Yeah, very good. So Kadence is not only a great tool to build websites, wonderful block editor interface, but there's also this beautiful thing called Kadence cloud that lets you take your own designs and make those available to people even at a charge. And Kathy, you were telling me there's people who are making life changing income selling, selling things through the Kadence cloud, right?
Yeah, there are. And there's one person who's doing some really clever stuff. And I'm just really impressed by Jake, and I'm going to show you a little bit about what he's doing because I think it's an inspiration to what other people can do in order to really create additional revenue streams, creating community, creating, creating a new business for yourself. You know, it's great to work one on one with clients. It's wonderful and Kadence. Cloud supports that as well. But it's also great to work one to many with lots of different people and provide tools. And I feel like what's happening with Kadence right now is almost like the movement of empowerment, and I'm here for it. And I'm glad you guys are too.
Awesome. Okay, a couple of housekeeping notes and we'll let Kathy get right to it. First of all, if you're just joining us in zoom, welcome. Glad you're here. Make sure you pop up in the chat window and say hi, tell us where you're logging in from today. Folks logging in from around the world. Great to see everybody. Another note is we are using the q&a feature to ask questions. So there's a q&a button. You can open that and you might want to just keep that open as well throughout the webinar because you'll be able to see the questions that others ask and maybe a little thumbs up icon there for you to upvote the questions of others so you can use the chat to say hi, so hi there, Orlando, you can use the chat for that. Use the q&a feature to ask questions and upvote those questions that you would like to see answered because when we get to the time of q&a, at the end of today's webinar, we'll be taking those questions in order of votes. One more time. I'm going to post in the resource link that has today's slides if you'd like to download those and follow along. Those slides also have really good links so you probably want those. If you're watching this on the replay, just click the Download handout button that's below the video. That replay link will be available about an hour after we wrap up today and that's provided for you there in the chat. And just like Kathy mentioned, there is a great 25% off deal on the full Kadence bundle. So if you don't own the full bundle, you can use the code revenue stream 25 Altogether, no spaces revenue stream 25 through Friday, or 25% off that full bundle. So with that I'm going to disappear and let Kathy talk about Kadence cloud.
Excellent. Thank you so much, Nathan, I'm going to share my screen. Although you guys are probably looking at the slides yourself too. But let's go ahead and just share things because I am going to also make sure that that zoom thing isn't over all of my various other things that I'm going to show you.
If you're new to Kadence and you haven't taken a look at Kadence cloud or the kittens Child Theme builder plugin, I have a treat for you. I'm going to assume a lot of you here took a look at that revenue revenue streams. And you're like, Yeah, I'd like to make more money with Kadence. I'm working with clients. I'm doing cool things. But I would also like to expand my business and create additional ways to make money connect with clients and also to be of service to the greater WordPress community as a whole. Kadence is one of those amazing tools, then written or the founder of Kadence is just an amazing human being. And when he needs something in web development, and he he thinks through how other people can use these things, too. So a lot of these tools that are in that full bundle are things that Ben has developed because he needed it. So a lot of these things. You'll see some of this and we'll see we'll also give you kind of a peek behind the curtains and show you a little bit about how Kadence uses these things as well. But first, we'll talk a little bit about what exactly we're going to cover. We're going to cover the Kadence cloud. And what that is and it's basically allowing you to create a library of design elements. We'll give you kind of a overview of what that looks like and you can do this not only in creating design elements that if you're, you know, working with a lot of different clients and say you work on one client site and you create a great pricing table and you're like oh my gosh, I want to be able to copy this over to other clients and use that pricing table over there. You can easily copy that element into a cloud and then be able to connect to that cloud and just basically have a design library for yourself. What's great is if you've developed something innovative and cool, and you're sharing it with other sites and other clients, why not share it with other people who are building sites, other agencies, other people who are just, you know, trying to build out their site for their lawn care service or something like that. Kadence cloud allows you to do that, and we're going to show you how that works. The Kadence Child Theme builder is kind of a little bit of a misnomer because not only is it a child theme, it's a demo site. So if you have looked at any of the Kadence starter templates, it uses this that's basically it's a demo site so you're not only creating a theme, you're also able to create demo sites and we're going to show you some people who are doing these types of things and creating revenue streams for themselves. If you have the creativity and you have the ability to develop a site that's innovative and doing amazing things. You can connect with new customers by offering that to a wider audience. So let's first take a look at what some other people are doing and why I am so excited about this. I started looking at some of our affiliates. Jake at start blogging blocks.com is one of our affiliates and I was just taking a look at what he was doing and I'm like oh my gosh Jake is building a business. He if you go to start blogging box and I'll give you just like an overview of of what Jake is doing here and Jake is a wonderful human being incredibly intelligent, and doing some really amazing things with Kadence. He is creating blocks himself and putting them into Kadence cloud and selling them and giving them away as a part of his design library. And this is really cool. So if you go here and you sign up, you basically get access to 70 wireframe blocks that you can basically download right within your WordPress dashboard and I'll give you a quick look at how that works. And he's got all of these different collections. The thing that caught my eye was alerts. So he's got a little bit of a demo here of what these free blacks look like. And I'm like this is so simple, and yet organized in a way that's so clever and beautiful. And he's got like, you know, some simple ones that he's giving away and then the ones that get a little more complex are are his pro options, and he's selling those. And that's something that you can buy just the entire collection and get a license to download those types of things straight from Jake and you just connect your Kadence site directly to Jake's cloud. And if you've got the license setup, you can actually use all of those pro things. I think that is just amazing. And I'm really excited by the fact that Jake is building a business based upon the flexibility and empowerment that exists within Kadence That, to me is life changing. And it's changing Jake's life because he's obviously connecting with more and more customers and building a community based upon the work that he's doing. And it's all started. It all started with Kadence cloud and he saw opportunity here and continue. You know, I'm in conversations with some with him and some of the things that he's doing. He's developing more and more things here to offer to people who are building sites and building a business now obviously he's not calling it you know, Kadence blocks he's because that's trademarked. You don't want to use the Kadence name and anything. He is taking the Kadence tools and completely open that you know they're Kadence tools that he's using and that you know Kadence is the powerhouse behind all of this. But he's layering his own creativity on top of this. And that to me is is amazing. And I thought there are tons of creative people out there. Jake's a great example. But there are many other people, many people in this audience right here. Right now who are incredibly creative, incredibly insightful. And Kadence gives you the tools it to monetize your creativity.
And that's what this is all about. So yeah, take a look at what Jake is doing there. Jake is also pretty active in the Kadence Facebook web creator community. So you can connect with him there and he every time he has a new block that he releases, he releases that over there as well. He's an affiliate that's also another sort of layer on to this because as he uses some of the pro elements in Kadence. He can also generate affiliate commissions because he's using a Kadence Pro feature in something that he is developing. And so if you want to leverage something that he has developed, you have to be able to use Kadence pro pro tools as well. So it's just another revenue generating opportunity for him. Another person that's doing something very cool and this stuff is still kind of in development but I wanted to show you Maestro site. Also another very creative person who's developing all kinds of fun stuff. Based on what Kadence offers and putting his own creativity and his own tweaks and different things into what he's doing. This isn't launched yet, but I would keep an eye on it and maestro's another person who's involved in that Kadence community over on Facebook, so you can connect with him and save some of the screenshots that he's been sharing in that Kadence Facebook group. Just as a side note, every time I log into Facebook thinking I'm going to like see what my college friends are doing. I am completely distracted with the tsunami of people who are coming into the Kadence Facebook group it is on fire right now. There's so much great innovation that's happening in the Kadence space and people are wanting to learn they're wanting to share they're wanting to connect. And we would love to see you there if you're not there already. So these are a couple of the things that are happening with Kadence cloud that I would just wanted to highlight. Just as some example. I obviously can talk about all of this stuff in abstract but seeing these examples, and it gives you an idea of some of the things that you can do and I'm going to also show you what some very high level things that I think you can do as well. So then on the Kadence child themes, we have some very cool things happening there as well. So that basically the Kadence Child Theme plugin, something that you install on a site, you develop a demo site, you install the Kadence Child Theme builder plugin, and what it basically does is collect all of the things that you've designed all of the customizations that you've put together, even all of the content that you've put together and basically packages it into a child theme that then you can install as a child theme into a WordPress site. And then once you activate that and activate the Kadence starter template plugin, it will go out and pull all of that dynamic content much like the starter template plug in does to the Kadence starter templates. So you're basically using this to create a child theme that gets installed and then that child theme goes and pulls all that demo content from from your server. So let's take a look at what is being done here. There are some really beautiful and unique child themes that are being sold. This one restored 316 Designs has been around for a while. And these themes are incredibly unique. They're all based on Kadence. You can see the live demo. So if you click on that particular link, this is the live demo. So this is basically the child theme. And then all of this content is what that child theme plugin connects to and then populates on the site that purchases the child theme from this provider and these are really unique, beautiful themes.
Again, a beautiful, a great designer with a great vision is taking a Kadence tool in creating an additional revenue stream for themselves in order to connect with more customers. incredibly empowering and this isn't the only one there's quite a few other ones as well. So here we have Heartland made and they have some beautiful sights here as well. And you can take a look at the details. Basically, you know, do some competitive research and see what they're charging here but also see the demo and the demo again is going to that site that has that particular child theme on it. And from what I can ascertain of how they're doing all of this is that they have a multi site and that each demo is a part of that multi site and that and they may have an individual site set up but I would set it up as a multi site and then each individual site is the demo site that then your plugins are connecting to pull all of that into the starter template feature. And then we have the hello you themes. Again just starter templates, and see the demo. unique and interesting designs. And these are all being built with Kadence and then put on that server and then these plugins connect with that. So now that we have an idea of what fun stuff people are doing here, probably have an idea of maybe something that you've developed, something that you have created. That could be something that you could sell all right, I can see the gears spinning and everyone's heads right now. Let's take a look at how these things work. Okay, so I've got some demo sites here. And we've got tons in in the slides. If you look at where the speaker notes are, I pasted in every link that I can find for all of our documentation. There are videos on how these things work if you want to get deeper, and then also these are part of the full bundle you're buying these things that entitles you to premium support. So if you start getting going and the documentation isn't clear, or maybe I didn't explain something well enough, I can tell you someone who will explain it better. And that's the amazing Kadence support staff that we have. They will stay with you until you've got everything up and running the way you'd like it to be. They are amazing and that's just another benefit of getting the Kadence full bundle. But let me do the best that I can do in order to get started. So what do we have here we have an installed plug in called Kadence cloud and that is right here. So that will be something that you will download from the Kadence study p.com site. Once you're logged in and you've purchased the full bundle, or if you've purchased the Kadence cloud individually, you download that plugin and then you're going to go to Add New and then this will be something that you will upload you'll upload the plugin and then you'll have a license key and the Kadence wp.com site that you will paste into your cloud site. Now just as a sort of operational note, I if you're going to sell things, consider this. You will have hopefully if you know if our dreams come to life, we will have hundreds of people maybe 1000s of people connecting to this server you will want to make sure that you have a dedicated server you're not just putting it on your personal blog or on your company's site. Do you have a dedicated server you know plan for growth and just put this on its own WordPress installation and a server that can handle some traffic because you will have all of these sites connecting in to download the various things that you're going to put into your cloud library. So what ends up happening once you install that plugin is it basically creates a custom post type if you're familiar with what that is called Client Cloud Library. And so you will have that here. And as you can see, I've built in a couple of them right here, just some basic ones. I'll give you a quick look at what this looks like. And I kind of cheated because I just took this from the Kadence design elements that we have available. So I'm going to do another thing. I'm going to do a feature block and what I'm going to do is I am going to go into wireframes
and I am going to just look at see two It was here where I had the feature blocks. I think they're in the startup packs, maybe nope sections, feature blocks. And let's say I would like to just pull in this one. Okay, so what what I did is I'm adding a new cloud library. I went into the Kadence design library to get me started. But I am going to customize this. Well imagine that I'm going to customize all of this. For the sake of time I'm not going to but don't just take something out of the design library, put it on your local your own cloud and then go out and sell it and pro This is an empowerment tool for your own creativity. So take what Kadence offers you but we want to see you we want to see what you bring to the table. We want to see you be of service to the greater web WordPress community as a whole and to people who are trying to build site because you have something unique and individual to offer here. Kadence is giving you the tools, but don't just take something from the design library like I'm doing right now. And then put your name on it because everybody can see that we want to see you and you want to see you stepping up to the plate. So, you know jump into all of this, customize it using K It's basically Kadence blocks if you're familiar with that. customize it however you would like. So we are going to our library items here. And we are going to say that this is going to be a feature item. And we could add a feature image all of this stuff and we're just going to publish this real quickly. And now we can take a look at where it is. Now you see it says generate thumbnail cool thing that Kadence cloud does. If you go to cloud settings, when you just get started, you can do this very cool thing, enable the API flash for screenshots, and then click this link to get your API key. And you'll have to like set up an account the free one will give you like 100 I think in a month or something like that, where you can then just generate your screenshot and that makes things so much easier. So you can generate your thumbnail here. That's what I did over here and you have your rebuilding capability there. So look at there. We have another feature item very exciting. Now what about this pro element? We see we have pro here for this particular one. I'm going to show you how to do that in just one second. So we have our cloud settings. And I have my access keys. So here's the connection URL, and I'm going to show you how a site connects to Kadence cloud so we are going to go over to my favorite test site in the world which is Sally's cat blog. And we are going to go into a page. We're just going to add a new page. And it's going to just be a test page. And we're going to click on the Kadence design library. And typically this will just show up like that. But if you click this plus over here, we can put in the connection URL from our test site that we're doing over here and the access key and we are going to put that in here. And we're going to add that connection. And what do we have now we have the test cloud and I can refresh that and it is going to pull in that one that we just built. And you see this one's got pro required for this item. Alright, that gets a little more complicated, but not rocket science. And there are links that walk you through it that has all of the code and the Kadence pages and the help pages that you basically can just put into a code snippets plugin or you can put it into the functions of your of your theme. If you wanted to do it that way. I acted to do it the same way that our tutorial video does it and I use the snippets plugin. And there are three basic snippets. So there's the pro category snippet, the pro filter request, I'll just give you a quick look at that. So it's very basic code. This one you're going to need to customize. So for pro access, you're going to need to decide which one of those keys that are in the cloud settings. Let me just refresh that real quick. So this is going to be your freaky.
And so when you'll get the code and it'll say free right here, and you will want to take the one that you're going to use for free and you're going to paste that in where it says free there. The video and help docs shows you exactly how to do that. So this will basically save free, but we'll paste in that code so that we can see this demo with our short timeframe here. So that's basically how Pro is going to work. All of the code that you need in order to do that is over on those help docs that are linked, and believe it's this page, the one that says Kadence cloud creating and sharing designs. So basically down here are all of the the documentation links and how to do all of this and then in order to actually start selling the licenses that are going to be generated the access keys, you'll need WooCommerce and you're going to need to be able to generate those keys. That documentation is all there for the sake of time. I won't go into all of that but that's all documented and again, if you get tripped up with any of that, you can always reach out for help but this gives you a basic idea of what those look like. So if I want to then use that feature black just pops it right in. So whatever I developed over on my cloud and put into that Cloud Library is now available to Sally's catalog, and I can pull that in and if I wanted to use that pro one, I would need to have a pro license and add that here. And that is done. Over here. Here you would just provide to your end user, a unique connection access key that you would be selling via WooCommerce. And the plugin that I can't run there's two different plugins, one that Ben recommends in the documentation. And then there's another one that's free. So you would be then selling these access keys and they would be unique for your customers. So that's exactly how the Kadence cloud works. That is how people who are using Kadence cloud to sell their own block collections. That is how they are doing it. So that gives you a basic overview of how cloud works, and how you can either use this, you know if you're developing multiple sites, or you can use this to sell to customers. I'm going to pause for a second because I'm gonna guess that there might be some specific questions about Kadence cloud that I might be able to answer anything.
Yeah, we got a bunch of questions that are stacked up here. Let me just come through and see particular ones that are related to the Kadence. Cloud. Killeen is asking can we have two libraries one for selling and sharing and one that is personal?
Sure, you could definitely I would actually put those on separate cloud services. If you I would definitely if there's one that's just if it's just for you and your agency. Maybe you just do it as a subdomain and you can maybe even put that on the same server obviously. For security sake under a separate user, server based user, just to keep everything secure and everything but I would Kadence cloud is not going to take that much in terms of resources. You can possibly even use that Kadence cloud if your site is resourced well and you just wanted to put it on your particular you know, agency site and it's not getting a ton of traffic, you could probably do that. The only concern would be if you have if you're starting to sell it. You want to make sure that your site is resourced well because you're going to have lots of incoming traffic coming in to get these things to you know, get all of the resources and the assets that are needed for that particular for that particular block that that you're selling, or that you're giving away. I would actually recommend giving away as much as you can, and then create something that's really powerful. And sell that because you want to be able to like connect with customers and give them something of value, especially if you're just getting started. That's a perfect way to like how Jake was doing it with lead generation to get your email and a name so that you can create deeper connections with customers, give them something of value, and then make something really fancy that you're selling.
Yeah, very cool. Mark, I think you've answered this already, but Mark would like to know can Kadence Child Themes be delivered through the Kadence cloud as well as blocks and patterns?
The Kadence Child Theme builder works a little bit differently, how ever and once I get into it, I will show you exactly where you can have a child theme that you install that a customer installs on their site that you can add connection information into that then has access to your cloud. If that makes sense. I will show you show you where that's at.
Okay. Chris would like to know so people who are using they're pulling things down from your cloud, would they need the Kadence theme to do that?
Yes. Yeah, they're gonna want to you're gonna need the theme. And you're going to need a box because all of this is built on Kadence box, right? And it's built on the Kadence theme. So there's no way to really connect to any of these. There's no way to like get that design library in there, where they're putting in connection information unless you have Kadence blocks installed.
Got it. Jake's doing a great job of answering a lot of these questions here in the q&a. Some of these, he's on it, he's on it. I do want to mention some of these into the recording though, for people that are watching now on the replay. Katie wanted to know about is WooCommerce the only tool that to sell themes or blocks or can you use something like sure cart?
I am unfamiliar with share cart. The answer to this as long as you can do licensing as long as you know obviously the the code example that we have that adds that customization so that the Kadence cloud is communicating to WooCommerce or wherever you're doing that transaction. That's the code that we have and that we offer. If you need to use something else for whatever reason, reach out to Kadence support and we'll find an answer for you.
Awesome. Jake says SCHUCHART doesn't have licensing and actually Maestro is here on the webinars. So we showed Maestro site a little bit earlier. Meister says he's literally requesting that from share cart right now. Right. So let's see here. A great question from Ben. Do you need one license for each site you use to use the themes that you're buying? How does that work?
For are you talking about like the license that the customer needs? Or? Yes, I
think that's what he's asking. Yes.
Yeah. So for for the themes. The themes are being sold individually. So you know, you could probably do it so that you can sell a package of themes or start basically I'm not gonna stop calling them themes, their demo sites, right. They're like a starter template. It's a theme based type of way of getting them. But they you're actually selling a demo site, your site, you're selling an entire starter template, kind of like how the Kadence starter templates look. So you can put like, sample blog posts, you can put all of this stuff and from what I've seen everybody doing everybody's selling these as individual starter templates that you know there's Kadence though, we're selling you get your license if you get you the Kadence Essentials Bundle or the Kadence full bundle, you have access to every single one of our pro starter templates. So it's really up to you how you want to handle that and how you want to configure it. Answer is both ways work.
Fantastic. Let's see Melanie has has had a question about the custom post type that the cloud plugin created. The cloud plugin creates that custom post type, right?
Right. When you install it, it will create that you don't have to do anything. Basically, you just download the plugin off of the Kadence WP site, upload it, activate it, and boom. All of the stuff is here. This will be all of course all empty because I just created some demo content based on you know the existing cat Kadence library. But all of this will show up and be there for you. And you'll need to you know, set up some general information here, you'll want to set the cloud name. You'll want to say you know, what, how frequently do you want sites to resync this depends on how often you're adding content. So you can say one day, one week, one month and then you'll have to connect to I mean, you could add your own thumbnails but oh my gosh, for free to be able to just get a license key and be able to just do a generate a screen chat. I'm gonna go with that. myself much
nicer. Yeah. Yeah. So there's currently like this whole activist thing happening in the chat about getting SCHUCHART to do licensing. So we'll see how that actually works out. Excellent.
I like it.
We would like to know Can anyone repackage something that they buy and resell them is all the good stuff in the download they get?
Can anyone repackage something so let's
say they buy something from your Kadence cloud? Is there anything that prevents them from reselling that or re giving it away or whatever?
No, no, there's nothing there's nothing that's going to prevent people from taking your content or your designs. I mean, this is the nature of the web. I can go on and Jake site and basically figure out what he's doing. Or if I want to do it's, um that goes into a whole I don't know if I want to, you know, wander off into the weeds about it. But here's the thing, give away your creativity, charge for things where you've really put in some effort. And yeah, Ben said something that just has resonated with me for a while on a recent podcast and I don't have a link for it right now. But he said something about I like to be crazy generous. I want to give you the tools to change your life. And business is going to take care of itself. Because all these people want to be a part of Kadence because of everything that we're giving away. We give away a ton of stuff. And we are crazy generous at Kadence because I mean, look at this. This is something that can change lives if you use these tools in the right way. And we're hopefully giving you sort of some strategy behind all of this. Take that philosophy too. Don't be super protective of what you're doing. Obviously, protect your trademark, protect your copyright. If somebody's just like wholesale copying everything off of your site, you know, cease and desist whatever you need to do. Protect yourself but at the same time, don't get lost in that. I've seen so many people who've been creators that get lost in people taking their work. There's always going to be somebody that goes out there and tries to take your work, stay five steps ahead of them because you're the one that's the trailblazer. You're the one that's creating the creative content. You're the one that's making a splash. So do that.
Yeah, very good. Yes, yeah. And the sub boxes should be repeated frequently. So is there more you want to show or do you want to keep going? There's I've kind of filtered through questions to just get the cloud ones.
Yeah, yeah. Let's, um, now that we've talked about cloud let's start looking at some of these child themes and how, how that all works. The cloud is really powerful, but the child theme builder is exceptionally powerful as well. We're gonna leave Sally up and use her later. But let's take a look at the Child Theme builder or the child builder. Again, this is going to be something that you're going to download from, you're going to download from Kadence WP, you're going to install it on your demo site. So let's say you've designed a site, let's say, let's say at Sally's Sally's beautiful site. Here. We're not going to use that. But let's go to Sally site. This is basically the real estate starter template. And I needed to do something for dynamic. There's a video on YouTube for dynamic content and how that works with advanced custom fields. And so we made a little cat database just for fun but let's say Sally's like, I love my site so much. I want to share it with the world. And she's got this site that she's developed and she's got a little bit of content and she just wants to share that demo content as well with the world. Sally could go and install that starter template. And she did. She's already thinking about it. Sally's me but anyway, so she's installed this she hasn't done anything at all with it yet. We've got these different different settings here. I'm gonna show you what to do with that. But here's what you're doing. You're not. You have to basically create your demo site first, before you do anything else. So you create your demo site. If you're thinking into the future, you might want to set this up in a multi site and you have like 10 demo sites. So multisite is one WordPress installation that has multiple sites under it if you've never used multisite, um, it might be a little bit of a learning curve. But once you get there, it's not that hard. But if you're going if you are planning on selling a number of sites, that would probably be the easiest way to go. So basically, we're going to create a new Sally site. Let's do it. Let's first look at this configuration. We have the child theme name, the child's theme, slug, author all of this data. It's the same stuff you see over here. The version number, the author, the description, all of that stuff is the same information that you're entering when you start a child theme. So let's just have some fun
uploading an image, we're going to Yeah, I'm just gonna pull in my previous test. You're gonna want to make sure that this is sized appropriately. And oh, come on Sally. So 1200 by 900 is what you're gonna want to do for that thumbnail image. So we're gonna just put that in there. You can put your theme URL. Yeah, I'm just gonna do some generic stuff there. Save your changes. The demo import config. This is where you're going to tell the child theme that gets generated where to get all of the demo content. So we're just going to call this Sally's demo template. The preview URL is going to be where that demo basically where we're at right now. Tickets you can have a preview image here. At least 800 pixels wide. I'm just going to use Oh, but he's so cute. Can I use him? I'm just going to use you can brand it here. We're just gonna call it Sally's starters. And you can put a brand logo here. A don't Wow, we'll just use this. It's not going to look real nice. And save those changes. Here is where our Cloud Library config happens. So let's say you're creating starter templates. And you're you want to offer feature images, pricing tables, calls to action, you want to offer that to anybody who buys your theme as a special add on. It's a special benefit of buying a theme Starter Site from you. You're gonna give everybody access to this. So what you would do is wherever your cloud is you will get those clouds settings right access keys. So you'll provide this information into your child early access key and then that access URL, and we have the setup as that free URL, so you might want to give them a pro one specific for this. I'm gonna save those Alright, that's it. Then you go here, you generate the child theme. And you see that downloaded. So here we have a zip of Sally's and all my other stuff that you can now see on my drive that I didn't clean up. Sally's child theme is now a zipped file. So how do we use this? This is where things get fun. I need you know what we're gonna go back to our cloud site. I know this is somewhat circular but it's gonna work. So we have a new site, you'll want to start with a new site because what you're basically going to do is you're going to make sure that you have the Kadence theme installed but not active. I can go ahead and deactivate this, right I'll just activate somebody else. And now we're going to add a new theme. We're going to upload the theme. We're going to find Sally's theme and we're going to install that now
right and seen pro Yeah Okay, so now we're gonna go to themes, and I should have Sally's child theme. There it is going to activate that. Oh, look, I've broken everything
all right. I have a lot of things going on on Sally site. So here's some things to be in consideration of when you create a demo site. This is probably what's broken things is all of my favorite cats and everything like that that have that I've put on here. I wanted to do this so much Sally's blog and pull Sally over into the other site. But I have so much going on with Sally and that's where I'm getting tripped up. Whatever plugins that you have installed on your demo site. Let's say you have restrict content Pro. Let's say you have a LearnDash setup that you're doing something specific for. Let's say that you're doing something specific for WooCommerce and you have a starter site that you're setting up for WooCommerce all of that is going to get activated over on your site that is getting the child theme. So you're gonna want to make sure that whatever you're building the child theme and you're very intentional about all of the content there. Don't do what I did, and try to just use any old site. You're going to want to make sure that your content is a specific way that the theme is a specific way. Otherwise you are going to have to troubleshoot all of this fun stuff. And I'm not quite sure exactly what happened.
There's, we think we know what happened. Kathy it looks like yeah, inverted the URL and API key when you pasted those in
did I really
about 40 people in the chat said yes.
I'm so glad you guys are. Access oh yes key
the key in the URL or inverted? Yeah.
Okay, interesting. I don't know what I was thinking. Wow. Okay. Well, let's do it for another one. Let's see if I can do this correctly. I'm glad somebody's paying attention. save those changes. And let's delete that. Oh, I'm not confused again. This is why you never talked and work at the same time. All right. I have Yeah, I'm doing a demo on on scroll animation so that we're gonna mess up that site. And then I will use it later. And I'm just see if Kadence is active causing a problem. I'm gonna just try this one more time over here
it's good to work with hosting people because you get all these demo sites. Hey, you guys are right. You guys are so smart. This is why you know this is going to be a great topic for you because you can even do amazing things with Kadence. So now I've got that installed. If we go to themes, I should have Sally's fun cat blog over here. If I activate that, it should be Yeah, okay. There's something else going on. Yeah, that wasn't it. There, I'm pretty sure it's because I have all of those custom post types and all of the favorite cats and everything from my other demo on there. Typically, you're just gonna want to basically build out something relatively simple with your design, some basic theme settings, some basic designs on this is how the starter templates for Kadence work. If you go to the Kadence site, and you look at those starter templates. All of these are using this basic format and of course, this page is being built out, you know, on Kadence with the post grid carousel and everything. But once you get into the actual demo of all of these, we have the starter template cloud.com site where we're hosting all of these and each one of these sites is basically its own demo site. Then when you have a site that has started template plugin on it, you can see pretty sure I have started templates over here. All of those are being pulled from Kadence so you can refresh all of those. And this demo that's happening here is happening. This is from that starter template site over here. So in order to sell these basically what you end up doing is installing I'm just going to stop the share for right now and just talk through what ends up happening. So you get that zip file. You upload that zip file into a fresh site. Obviously when you're doing a starter template, you are not going to want to have like other settings because it's going to overwrite everything in your customizer. So you start with that Starter Site that zip file, you upload it, that child theme gets installed it needs Kadence there and then you need the starter template plugin. The starter template plugin will then show you your branding. So if I had gotten it to work properly it would have seen that Sally's cat blog logo right there on the starter template site, you would then be able to click on that and then it would show you the theme that you had purchased from that and then you could click on that and then that starter template. The starter template plug in is the one that's doing all of the heavy lifting to go out. And you pull in all of that demo content from the starter template demo site. So you have that demo site and in publicly accessible website. You have that demo all there and then that starter. The Kadence starter template plugin is the one that's going to pull all that demo content in and it's going to be not our sites. It's going to be your site your starter camp put layout that is going to be pulled in once you have that child theme uploaded to as it is a child theme of Kadence on that site. Hopefully that makes sense. I am here to answer questions. My other demo but of course that's all written. Anyway,
good stuff. A lot of possibilities here. We do have a full webinar on the Kadence cloud, which there was when it was originally created. That I'll go back when you're answering the next question and find the link to and drop that in the chat.
It's in the it's in the slide. It says a slide deck. Yeah. And there's a whole PDF that Jeff did that basically goes through step by step of everything that everything you need to do and working with Kadence cloud.
Great. So once again, in the chat is the link to the slides. The replay link in the deal. All right. So we have much more questions stacked up here ready to go. Mm hmm. Okay, so folks, if you haven't taken the opportunity to go and upvote the questions that you want to see answered, please do that over in the q&a area. And we'll start with a question from Ben Bradley. Any tips on supporting the themes that are sold as there will always be customer questions.
There will always be customer questions there will my tips and support are to when you answer a customer's question. Consider that answer as documentation and write yourself some helped x and get those out. You know, obviously we're not going to be able to support your customers when you're making the sale but we will support you so if you have a question like something's not working, and you're dealing with a customer, we're sort of like your second our support team is your second tier. But support is the best place to not only find answers for your documentation so that you can then make support into the future much easier. It's also just a treasure trove of marketing ideas because people are going to come in and say I really liked this thing that you did. I want to see if I can do it this way and that's That is intelligence. You take that strategically and you can create new products, you can create new services, create new blog posts explaining how to do things, new ways to connect with not just that customer extrapolate it out to your entire market.
That's awesome. And like Ben was teeing up something here for us because our premium event this month and iThemes Training is with Ben Meredith who is the lead support for give WP Ben as a genius when it comes to client support and we have been for four hours of training. Well, last week actually. Amazing. That does require an iThemes Training or toolkit membership but we do give a month free and all that information is on the link that I just dropped in the chat. All right, Katie does the coupon code work on the lifetime bundle that you gave
now it's only gonna work on the full bundle. Just the
full bundle and by the way that is 25% off the full Kadence bundle through Friday coupon code revenue stream 25 altogether no space. Anonymous is asking I would like to sell templates of Kadence a lot more complex and advanced designs, but it will be a bundle with pro plugins is that allowed? Can I charge per year subscription for my license to the clients?
You're not going to be able to sell your your license. Don't go resell your license that you've bought from Kadence. But you can. What I would do and this is my advice is make sure you're a Kadence affiliate and I've got a slide that I didn't share that's in that slide deck at the very end about being a Kadence affiliate. Not only are you a Kadence affiliate, you're an affiliate for all of the stellar brands. So you can be an affiliate for LearnDash if you want to develop like templates for LearnDash that would be like really great to be able to package like starter templates for learning management system and use LearnDash as well. So what I would do is develop those types of things. Make sure you're an affiliate so that you you're basically selling them on the benefits of Kadence and LearnDash be an affiliate, collect your affiliate payment but make sure that the end user gets the correct licensing because we're licensing you we're not licensing your customers. So we have a one on one relationship. Make sure you have the right kind of relationship of licensing your creativity to your customers, but also making sure that the creativity and the innovation that's happening with Kadence and LearnDash or whatever is also being licensed
Yeah, very good. And by the way, the link to become a Kadence affiliate is there in the chat as well. And like Kathy said, Because Kadence is one of the stellar family of products. It's a one stop for all you can become an affiliate of all those products with that link. Let's see Sherry is asking when you create Kadence blocks, can they only be used on a Kadence based website? Yes.
Well, yeah, no, you can. If you're running like generatepress As your theme and you want to use Kadence blocks, you can use it. Yes, that's one great thing about the whole whatever all of this innovation that's happening with blocks, you know, like the page builders, if you had a Divi site and you had a page that you built Divi, you're stuck in Divi for that page, you can't put a Kadence block in there, but if you're using blocks, you can use pretty much any of these themes will play nicely with the other blocks. So you can have all of the different block manufacturers blocks in there, use whatever theme you want. Now we've made obviously some tons of improvements to make sure that Kadence blocks and in the Kadence theme, you're going to see page speed improvements like you won't believe so we think that's the best way to go. But we don't lock you and the way the old page builder system did.
All right. Monty would like to know if there's anything you can say about the accessibility of some of those, the child sites that we just saw.
I have not looked at them, obviously if you're building a site and you make accessibility, benefit and a feature of what you're developing that is a value add that is a differentiator for you it is something that you can lead forward with and say we make the most accessible sites out there. So Kadence gives you all of the tools to do that. We're very accessibility aware, if you in fact we have some some customers who are on you know, like screen readers and things like that, who give us feedback if something doesn't work exactly the way it should and accessibility so we try to be accessibility aware if you ever have an issue like that, where our our developers are so customer focused, so we're on it.
Very good. Let's see Laurens would like to know if Kadence cloud works with Elementor
I don't know. I am so in the blocks world right now. I don't I don't know if you can put an element or a thing into a Kadence cloud. I think you
probably could. Jake says no.
No. Okay. Yeah, I'm trying to see if like how, Jake? Yeah, there's more people saying no. See, you guys are smarter about all this stuff than me. I'm just here to tell the story and entertaining.
Very good.
customizability.
Let's see, Mark would like to know how many WordPress sites I would want to set up are we looking at one website is your main marketing website with WooCommerce and Kadence cloud and then a separate multisite with each side is a starter template. Yeah,
definitely create a separate site with all of your different starter templates that you would be selling. Put that on a separate because it's going to have to be able to take requests from every site that's buying one of your themes. They're gonna have to pull in all of those assets, right? So you want to make sure that there's no hiccups, no problems that it has good, you know, responsiveness. When somebody is requesting all of the images, all of the blog posts everything that you have in one of those demo sites. So I would isolate those things, because also they're serving different purposes. You're doing commerce in one place, and you're providing those demo sites in another place. But each WordPress site and those demo sites is a demo site so and multisite is perfect for something like that.
Yeah. Michael is asking about beaver builder and some of the Kadence starter sites are available as Elementor or any plans to make Beaver Builder designs.
The vast majority of the people who are asking for things from us want blacks. We're going where our customers want us to go.
All right. Let's see Richard had an issue this record this may be more of a support question of when when blocks when something is being pulled in. It's stripping the SVGs. And my guess probably Richard is that WordPress Core still does not support SVG, you have to have a plugin for that. So if something like easy SVG or safe SVG isn't installed on the target, it's going to you can't upload an SVG into core WordPress without some sort of code or plugin modification. Let's see Katie wants to know if Kadence is ever going to provide a course or certification for designers. That's interesting,
isn't it? I know that the core core wordpress.org is talking about certifications. Courtney Robertson and I were on a podcast recently where they were talking about certifications for WordPress. Right now. We are so Kansas was growing so much. We are so focused on serving our customers with the tools that they need that certification isn't really on our radar right now. We're busy growing like crazy. So I don't foresee it in the near future. Not to say never, never say never.
Let's see, you've answered this I believe already from Carl can Child Themes be created on the same side as your Cloud Library and you're suggesting not right
so the question again,
can Child Themes be and I think he means yes sites. Yeah, yeah. Can I be on the same side is your Cloud Library?
It depends. It depends on resources. It depends on if the server is beefy enough to deal with that. I would separate things personally. It's going to set you up for growth. Right strategically, you're not going in this to just throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. You're here to build a market. You're here to build a community. You're here to build a client base, and you're going to want to build your operations out. That's going to scale so I would put these in different places. I'd put your demo sites in one place and your cloud in another place. But like I showed you, you can make your demo sites, talk to your cloud. And that's the way I would recommend going.
Gotcha. Let's see. Haiti is wondering if there's a Facebook group for Kadence designers and Katie there is a Kadence Facebook group are you wanting one that specifically for design, I think is what we need to find out. So Katie, I'm sure somebody can share the the or just search Facebook for Kadence and it'll pop up for the main group. Melanie wants to know will does the Kadence cloud and that install process will install recommended plugins like ACF or WP forms or things like
that? If if it's a free plugin? Yeah, if you've got that in if like I said, That's what I think messed me up is because I had all the custom field stuff going on. But if you are doing maybe it's not it, I'm gonna have to go see what error was triggered. But whatever, like if you're building for LearnDash or if you're building for WooCommerce if it's a free plugin that's in the repo, which LearnDash isn't but if it is in the repo, it will pull it from the repo. But if it's LearnDash it'll just go ahead and install everything for you. And then you have to go like, get LearnDash later, I believe. It'll throw some might throw an error or something and tell you that you didn't get everything but but yeah, so it you'll have to support your users to make sure that they have everything they need. If you're selling something that's a premium plugin, as a part of it, or something that's reliant on a premium plugin. Just be clear.
All right. Okay, one last question. And we there's so many more questions. Let's like 20 open questions still, so we're not going to get to these today. Okay. So if you have specific questions, Kadence support is very helpful, as we've mentioned. But one last question for today and Kathy, I bet you can't guess what it is.
Oh, no, not white label
white labeling, or what is white labeling coming to Kadence Have we ever talked about that? I'm not sure if that's
a thing. This is where we like to clink our glasses, you know, like a
Kadence drinking game. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So we did talk about that before the recording started. You want to give the summary of the answer to that question.
Yeah, if you go to our feature requests and if you have a Kadence account, and you're uploading feature requests, and you aren't white label, make sure you upvote that it is planned, but I don't have a timetable on that yet. There are just so many other things that are important to provide people to build sites that we're focused on right now. Kadence blocks is going through a rewrite that's going to make everything so much faster. Yeah,
so faster than it is now.
Yeah, just kind of clean things up a little bit faster than it is now. Yeah. Pretty. I'm telling you, then Rittner is a machine the I just I am so blessed to work with this team. It's not just Ben. It's all of the developers all of the support people this team is amazing. I am very blessed to work with them and tell the story of what they're up to. Because I literally will say Hey, Ben, we should and before I can complete the sentence. It's done. But white label is. It is requested by a number of people it is on our plans. It is just so many other things that need to get done first.
Got it. All right, Kathy. Great stuff today. Really, really? It there. There's some mind stretching idea generating things that we've seen today. Any final thoughts is wrapping up.
I can't wait to see what everybody develops because I know that everyone that attended this has the kind of creativity within them to create something amazing. So I'm excited to see the innovation that's going to come out of this not just for WordPress, not just for Kadence but WooCommerce and just the web as a whole. So thanks for attending.
Absolutely. Thanks, Kathy. Thanks, everybody for great questions today really like above average questions today. Thanks, everybody for your input. Great chat room. The replay of this will be up in about an hour. Let me drop in once again, the all the resource links. Today slides if you didn't grab those, be sure you do because all these links are in the speaker notes of the Google slide deck that I just shared the link for there in the chat. Replay and the transcript will be up about an hour after we wrap up as well as the full chat log with everything you've seen there. And of course the 25% off deal that is good through the end of this week through Friday 25% off the full Kadence bundle using coupon code revenue stream 25 All together, no spaces. And with that we'll wrap things up for today. Thanks again Kathy. Thank you, all of you for being with us as well. My name is Nathan Ingram. RIM everybody here at I themes. Have a great evening.
