Good morning. Morning. Good morning to you, how are you just guys. Hey, just letting more people into the room. It just go, how are you. Oh, I'm good. How are you, I'm all right.

I ended up with my yearly summer cold last week. So I got nothing done, but it was kind of refreshing because just like a small handful of months ago if I had got a cold I would be like, freaking out,

screwed. Oh yeah, I still went and got tested just recently. Yeah, yeah, but it was definitely less of a stressful thing. Just a short time ago.

Um, did anyone watch a council meeting last night and also Hello good morning.

I'm Mara. I heard, I heard some things about it but no I didn't watch the council. Yeah, what happened, we, I wonder what you heard. What do you see here. Oh, it's um, there's a, there's a resident in Hamtramck who does like a knitting session while she writes and summarizes the meeting and so I read her Instagram posts whenever there is a meeting because I don't have to watch them, and usually their shit shows so I saw I'm usually like validated in my feelings but

wait So was it a shit, okay, I need to read this post, can you send it to me. Yeah, I'll send it to you. Yes. Oh, perfect. I was just wondering because I mean, okay, don't tell me what my I really want you to either. Um, this is being recorded. It's not being recorded. Um, but I did have a talking point, like for five minutes, and I was at the pottery studio and I'm just wondering if I need like my camera turned on, it was covered in clay, and I just like, am mortified. I was wondering.

Anyway, okay. I did not see that part but it probably is recorded somewhere. Okay,

can you share the like Instagram name of that girl that knits and does,

because that sounds amazing. Yeah I will. I'll put it in the chat, let me find it. Yeah, I was a great kid parks Yeah,

I was good at keeping up on city council meetings for a while, but then after a minute. I just had to stop

was just so bad, okay well if any of you guys watch it text, cuz I'm usually there.

Yeah, usually a nice summary, there's usually a nice summary in the review. So, you know, a little bit about your, your potting city looking at cameo. No, please don't make Community Economic Development Coordinator Mara Shecky joined from the pottery Stewart studio. That's right,

seriously so embarrassed. Oh my gosh, I know I'm gonna hear about it. Okay, people. I haven't seen anybody joining the room yet, so. Do we have more people to view as I understand are technically here volunteering and showing up because you care. So yeah, there's that. Who's that Tim Jessica Do you guys want to be part of our committee. Yeah. Okay cool, Tim do

you sign me up for so many things just go for it. Mara.

Yay. Okay, can we make a motion Andy. I think so. Do I think, um, I guess we can officially start and I'll kind of do you know make sure that I take an acknowledged roll call and I'll

give me the give me the background before I jump off the deep end.

Is this just the DDA committee.

Yeah, this is the organization and promotions committee. I always have a little bit of a hard time describing it relative to the other committee we have because there are two with two separate groups of members that are, that comprise the whole DDA. So Mara, would you like to maybe describe a bit about what this particular committee specializes in.

Okay. Um, I actually took notes. When I was doing the training. Yeah, take your time. So there, we're following the Hamtramck DDA, to be more active is following the main street that EDC Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Main Street approach. And there are four key factors in their approach which is economic vitality design organization and promotion. So we've organized ourselves around these four points. As you can see, and we've came up with two committees, so one committee that we're in right now is the organization and promotion and so organization, um, brings a community together to build consensus and common vision, we assemble resources and lead revitalization, so this is letting the community or making sure the community knows we have their voice I think it was summed up pretty well oh I didn't screenshot that. Um, so this is just to encourage community engagement, I guess, to make sure that everyone feels included, and also organized people around, joining the committee or contributing to our initiatives either that's financially or with volunteerism and then promotion, as you guys can kind of figure out, is to position the DDA Hamtramck as a center of activity culture commerce and community life. So this space is focused on marketing and marketing our assets and creating a positive image for him Tremec. Okay so that's this one committee and then the other committee is design and economic vitality, where we can see over here design economic vitality are two other points. So, design, improves physical elements while preserving the communities, authentic fabric character and identity so they create a sense of place within him Tremec, and then we paired design committee with economic vitality, which is strengthening diversifying the local economy, supporting existing based entrepreneur and appropriate development, honestly, I see that there's a lot of

    overlap

overlap thanks. Thanks chair, but um yeah this is our committee and basically we need someone to take action on marketing are like the positive things about the city in there, you're in wow what an impromptu presentation.

Okay, thank you, Mara, I, as I'm, I'm still new to this and sort of remembering all the core functions of what we do as a committee, it sometimes it takes me a moment to remember so I appreciate that Mara. Yeah. And so, you know, as you can tell the micro grant that we collectively worked on really fits into this because it takes stock of the assets that we want, as a community or that we already have, and it puts into effect the funding and the promotion of those assets so that we can kind of coalesce the community around that and have a great public asset. So that's one of the reasons why we applied for this micro grant and thank you again for your hope, and I guess I will officially kick off the meeting. So just a quick thing introductions. My name is Andy Kopietz I'm the committee chair of the organization, promotions committee. And then, Mara, would you like to introduce yourself.

Yeah. Hello, I'm between economic development director and Downtown Development Authority Manager for city of kings.

Alright formalities there aside and then I think this person on phone might be milo on my right, you're correct, Andy. Thank you, Milo and then of course welcome Jessica Donnelly and Timothy Price who are former members of the community better considering joining and have supported us on the microgrant initiative on with the Michigan Municipal League Foundation. We know that we do not have any other members in attendance for today's meeting. And then just another reference to the agenda. Just a quick refresher, as we all know we applied for the $5,000 Mainstreet micro grant. I don't really need to explain that much but just for the sake of posterity, I will. It basically offers $5,000 grants for four different pilot communities, and the grants are sponsored by DTE Energy Foundation. And it supports innovative work that intentionally and creatively brings people together, while socially distant and repairs broken relationships. And so, you know, one of the things I wanted to bring up and I think everybody's aware of that is that the micro grant proposal that we put forth was advanced into the next round of voting, which is really great news, it's the thank you everybody for that effort. It's amazing, Actually I think we all in some way had a pretty concerted contribution you know Mara and I and Milo and Jessica we're all on the Google Docs together kind of collectively writing adding things in. Oh, it looks like we have Dr Golani joining so I'm going to let her and one second. Hi Dr Golani Good morning. Oh, good morning, how are you. I'm good morning. We were just starting to thank you for joining me appreciate it and I'm just, we're just starting. So, where I was just before you joined as I was saying that our micro grant application which is for $5,000 from the Michigan Municipal League Foundation was advanced into the next round of voting, which is great. And so what I'm talking about now is what is our kind of tactical strategy for promoting that across different social media channels and we have two members from the community who have now joined the committee, Tim price and Jessica Donnelly. And so since we're on that point on Tim and I know that you've written some messages and emails about this. I wonder if you want to talk a little bit more about promotion and how we can continue to get the word out about voting for that microcredit initiative.

Um, yeah, the main thing I want you to be really good. I don't know how we can make this happen, but the deviation register under LinkedIn, linked in, as an organization, because that way we can tag them. I did put it up on my LinkedIn personal profile but basically, I think, you know, the main thing is to make make it an ease for these people when they get it. So if we have the direct link for our campaign only that we share instead of sharing the website with the 12 people that are up for the grant, 904 will get it. And you know Jessica do write three different options for tax which is great. And yeah and just the main thing is just to properly engagement so when you do share it retag the DDA so it goes in through their thread, and then any other organization that you're sharing it through. And then if you have like groups or pages you're involved in community pages on Facebook. Those are great to put it in because those are people who are active in that community. I don't know I seen it on some Hamtramck pages. I'm not being a Hamtramck resident I don't feel I think you should come from a Hamtramck resident kind of like we do with the pride program we're living in that did it. So, and we could kind of make a hitlist I've been doing some Detroit ones and some LGBT ones, and then I oversee five other Hamtramck arts and culture, but five other Facebook pages that I put it on. Yeah, basically you know reshare it. I know we only have two days to go, I think it's over the 16th right Andy. Yeah, I think you're. Yeah, so and what one good thing to do is where you get a different demographic is not only sharing it as a post, but also share it as a daily story on your Facebook, and then I've even done that on my Instagram. I have I have a link tree on my Instagram which where you can have web links, and I put the our only link into my link tree where you can do something like that like it's kind of maybe put some bullet points up but things that, you know, just do what play places where we could help get it out there in the next 48 hours, and you know if it closes Andy at like midnight on Friday night, Saturday morning or like when is the official shut off that we have, like the massive push. Oh, really

great question Tim, let me look that up because I actually I should know that I do not so. Yeah, I'm gonna just quickly google it.

So Dane Tim. Wow, you're a professional marketer. Before do you organize festivals in Berlin, like

a little bit we've been doing the underground thing for the DDA to like, if you share it on your personal page, tag your other commissioners, so it goes into their thread. Basically by tagging like organizations and other people, and not only engages through their, Their, their social media thread, whether it's Facebook Instagram linktree, Twitter tick tock, whatever, but it also goes into theirs too. So you're basically doing that. I don't know if we could if we have any little bit of capital, but it would be maybe great if we could spend like 20 bucks on a Facebook ad through the GTA five Facebook page, and that would like four times the Reach for the next 48 hours, which you know I don't know if we could do that if we haven't, you know, I don't know how that works with your DDA budget, where we could just run, you know, a Facebook do basically it's called boosting the post. So if you guys did that through the DDA, I think that would really broaden the audience or even to the city Mara, if you could check into that do the city Facebook page, I can talk to that boost can be as little as like $5 Yeah, but they go they just they they four times your, your audience, and it just gets into people who might not know about us and or the campaign that we're trying to do. So,

if you want. Yeah, and I'll just add Mara and Tim, um, you know, if you're not unable to get any kind of quick approval just as a business but the nails will sponsor the boosting of the post I will put up the funds. Wait, I can talk to that, you go, we boosted we boosted the post.

Yeah. Okay, now you have a little bit of a budget I'm sure from the for my birthday, campaign for arts and culture so I can do it through arts and culture page do, just you know figure that because we actually have over 1000 followers already so that would four times that right there I think so. Oh,

yeah, so my DDA coordinators have. So okay at the last meeting the board supported 12 $100 Right, yeah

    I think so,

yeah, annual review to support marketing adventures, within the DDA, and so we have $100 a month to us that means $100 a month for Facebook posts, and boosting our posts. So we've spent. Well, we are going to spend $20 on boosting this campaign, but we're on July 14. And so it's the middle of the month, and we have $100 Total this month allocated to spend, so we could increase that amount. If you wish I was going to bring it up to you guys first.

Thank you for reminding me Mara I forgot that you and I kind of put our heads together and talked about that and the reason why we got that past is because I advocated for it so yeah that's really great. Yeah, we can use that to our advantage. I think $20 is, is more than enough on and I you know, working in that world to Tim and Jessica, I think, I think that would get get quite a bit of visibility so I understand it. Excellent, excellent. Well yeah, I'm totally in support of that, let's do it.

On this Do you have any connections over to the people to review I know I met the gentleman casually through the pride campaign we did but is there any way we could get it up onto their page or have them do something out in the next 24 hours 48 hours, and any other media outlets that we could,

um, I don't, I don't really know him that well but Walter wiser. I always forget to say his last name. Yeah, he's a local writer and I think he does quite a bit of writing there I've met him several times in the community, I just don't know his, I don't know his personal information, but I could reach out to him and send him

your wallet I didn't know he was older for years through the electronic music scene so okay just yeah just shake him up a bit. Oh great, yeah. Okay, he doesn't. He was connected to review.

Yeah, he does a regular guest column but I've actually published things in the Hamtramck review and have the editors contact information and he's pretty responsive. And yeah, I'm sure that they would probably put something up on their Facebook or their website pretty quick for us, that's,

that's really excellent Ken would. Would one of you like to take the lead on reaching out to Walter or the review today.

Oh, just good you want to do through the editor and then I'll do Walter is that kind of cool. So I know Walter is primarily living in Cleveland now with his new girlfriend but, you know, he's still doing a lot up here so

I didn't know I didn't know he had moved. Well he's not really moving but he's been dating somebody down there so I see

pandemic made it a lot easier to spend more time down there I follow him on Instagram and he does. The guest column that he does in the Hamtramck review is like a walking column about walking through Hamtramck which is really interesting. So the pictures that he has on his Instagram are great, it's just him wandering around wherever he is, on foot, and it's great.

Oh that's Oh I love that I didn't know that I'm gonna have to start reading the review more. Okay, this is great so alright so we've kind of touched on, on promotion locally, who's going to handle promotion and how we're going to do that. I would also encourage a lot of the members on this call just the people who are here if they have their own personal social media accounts, whether it's Instagram or Facebook. If I could be if I could persuade you to cross promote the micro data initiative the Michigan Municipal League foundation that would be great. And if you need language or graphics to repost your accounts. Jessica has actually already written and designed some materials that you can use, Just very quickly copying and pasting or uploading. Jessica is there a place where we can gain access to those or maybe just redistribute on email.

Yeah, I think I sent them out in a shared doc. But let me look because yeah, last week got a little away from me.

That's okay, I know I knew that you put it in a Google doc somewhere, I just lost track of the link so I'll mute that and

send it back to the email chain.

Thank you very much and when you find it maybe post it in the Zoom chat as well and then I will put it into my recount of the agenda, I'm kind of making notes as we go.

Is there a way you can share it on the DDA page to. What if I made you guys all. Okay, I can go into the pages and make everyone able to post. Is that cool, because you're productive DPA. Okay, Andy you're on there I'm pretty sure I'm on there

already yep so I think I can either give access, or if you're already in there you can also promote and get access. Okay, excellent. Um, and then I have a note on the agenda about just kind of encouraging the city of Hamtramck official social media accounts to cross promote the project. Obviously we have the DDA account that we're using to share this information with the public, but maybe being able to also use the official city account or encouraged the people who run it to help us by reposting would be helpful and I'm not sure Mara if that's already been done. It has. Okay, cool. Excellent. And then our, you know, the last question regarding promotion, either other community partners official or non official, maybe in Hamtramck or outside of Hamtramck that might want to help cross promote this, and if so, who might those other parties be, if we're just trying to keep it in the boundaries of Hamtramck, that's okay but if we want to leverage other relationships that we have outside of the community and since they border with Hamtramck, we can do that as well. I'm not sure if there's any city specific accounts in Detroit that would want to repost, but just that I put that out there for everyone's consideration,

did we reach out to, um, does like the Joe Lewis Greenway. have any kind of social media accounts.

I don't know, I sent an email to Christina, but that's as much as I did to repost so someone wants to follow up with that they

can. Yeah, I'll, um, I'll look into the Joe Lewis Greenway, on social media. I believe that there is some dedicated. Yeah,

I'm gonna assume so, and then maybe like slow roll the treat. There's also a lot of public Facebook pages for like Detroit, bicycling, which would probably be a good one.

I can reach out to reach out to Jason Hall, who now has the ride was part of the old slow roll known him for years. So, and then I don't know if it would kind of fit but, you know, Adrian for Mogo, too.

Oh great, that's a great idea of Tim Yeah Israel certain Right, yeah. Yeah, he used to be an event promoter too I think. Yeah, so we've. Okay, yeah, this is great, um, I don't personally have relationships with a drill, I've met Jason he wouldn't remember me many years ago but I can look into the Joe Lewis initiative, to see if it has a dedicated social media pages and reach out to them through my social media as well as some of the email address, city contacts I have, so I'll do that today. If anybody could reach out to a drill or Jason because they know that we're very helpful. Yeah. And I will also, Jessica, thank you for the suggestion I'll look into other bicycling initiatives on locally within Detroit and Hamtramck, to reach out to through social media, so I will do that today.

Yeah, I've actually also been in contact with all the bike shops throughout Detroit trying to source volunteers for another thing I'm working on. So all send all of the bike shops, these posts to be here. That might be great.

And I know like we know business owners in Hamtramck like Mike, Craig, friend of mine from dos loco, he came in and he re shared it on his personal Facebook so if we know, like first of all business owners are like that, that would be a good thing to do, does look like Unani Joe Lewis greenway.org and Andrew and they do have like a LinkedIn they have every social so, oh great, Yeah, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn LinkedIn, Instagram so.

    Oh, okay cool,

I already got my bottom of their page then you directly takes you to their social media, their links though.

Thank you, that's great, I'm gonna Yes, I'm gonna follow up on that right after this call and I'll start reaching out to those different threats. All right, cool. And then just sort of moving on from that. I don't know I wanted to touch base with you, Mara and maybe discuss, are there other relative relevant matters or things that the organization and promotions committee can engage on maybe things that are happening within the city right now that we're unaware of or things that we should talk about right now while we're on the call together.

Yeah, and I want to go in time thanks for this opportunity. Andy also cane, Tim Jessica Milo, Dr Kalani. If you want to be added to the Facebook page, can you send in sending the chat your Facebook. So I tried to find you guys my camp. And also we're not friends on Facebook but that's only because I don't really use Facebook, but we're friends in real life. Anyway, we can be friends because I'm going to add you right now, so

I don't even want to get to my own profile on Facebook.

Okay, so then, is there anything that happened with the city. Okay, so let's touch base on the Jos Greenway right now, because that's good transition, I went to a press conference on Friday with Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, and also in attendance there was mayor, and Councilwoman Elsa Mary council member also Mary council member. Lastly, I'm from the city of Hamtramck, and then we have representative, Eva from Irish there. Um, and then also, Councilmember Scott Benson from Detroit. And so this press conference is oriented around the house's approval of $4 million to fund the Joe Lewis Greenway and it's out of the Cares Act funding, so just has to go to through the Senate for approval. That's $4 million allocated for the Joe loose Greenway to complete it within five years, which means that the timeline that I heard at the beginning when I first started here. To complete the Hamtramck end of the Joe Louis green A which is the last phase of the Joe Lewis Greenway would be 2035. And that's a long time from now and now it's been up to five years with this recent funding supported by Congresswoman Lawrence. So that's pretty cool. Um, that's all I have from that. And then, is there anything else to talk about, so yeah I really like how we're talking about the main street, training and if we can do it in time. I hope we can I mean it's only two three hours long. It's really great to break up in chunks, I finished some, I did some yesterday things and today you know we're talking about where we are with that, but notes that I'm taking encourage everyone else whether during this training to take notes on some ideas that I have is that we need to build an effective board and committee, so that means that our board and committee and I think what we have most control over is the committee are hanging out. And it's to make sure it reflects diversity in terms of age, gender, race, business owners resident skills so it could be artists musician. Like someone with knowledge of ADA abilities or, you know, just anything it could be just skills and knowledge in general and then also commit connections to the community. So that's one topic that I had to, I took a note on, um, there are also two more things like kind of like more admin things, but review or bylaws that's more for the general DDA, and then review the community development organization checklists so we can get a baseline metric of where we are right now and we can measure our success. So I think that's more general for the DDA and I'll bring up, but so for in terms of the commission here that we have right now. Build the effective committee and then also we need to have a mission statement for our subcommittee. And I think it's good that we look at taking consideration our social media plan, and my team, the DDA directors, I'm sorry, DD coordinators and reviewed Andy's communication plan so I think our committee would do right by reviewing Andy's communication plan if we want to attach that somewhere to the agenda, or in the minutes or something like that agree send it out to this newfound committee committee, that'd be great, because today, this week we have scheduled historic posts that you've seen on DDA and Facebook page, sent it out on Tuesday so that was our goal to have historic posts on Tuesdays, have will actually the second Tuesday of the month. And then, next week we have a small business post and then we have the DDA recap and business Roundup, So I have a calendar of posts to guide us and we can flush out this calendar. Within this committee, but right now we're using the DDA Facebook page. I'm sorry the communications plan to flush out posts. And, oh, I'm also if we want to take a review of how the posts look and if we want to create a template to standardize the posts we could do that right now the posts are kind of text heavy, but that's because we've translated into three languages so we're open to feedback and we're flexible to revise our strategy, but we're also relying on this committee to take some initiative and create posts and templates and offer feedback.

Thank you, Mara, that was a really great review just for some context setting for people who haven't been on previous PTA meetings, several meetings ago I presented and developed a very basic communications plan, it was a strategy to leverage the DDA social media feeds that we have through Facebook, basically just Facebook, and it would allow us to talk about and promote the community and so focusing on businesses, focusing on the assets have specific businesses, focusing on the different themes that businesses that we have in the community, you know we have a lot of retail, we have a lot of businesses that are more arts focused music focused, and then also talking about the history of businesses or buildings or architecture or just the sense of place that the community has been developed and built itself up around. So, um, you know, every week, we have a sort of alternating schedule of these posts they go out at specific times, they're written about very specific businesses and we're encouraging the DDA directors Mara and her team to kind of reach out to individual businesses interview, ask them questions, get some kind of nuanced information and use that to write really short, succinct but interesting posts that go out across the social media channels so that it's a way to promote the community, and then to the extent that we're talking about the Michigan Mainstreet training program. This is also something that we've discussed in previous meetings through maybe this committee but also more broadly nrda committee, some of the people here may not be aware but Mara brought in some people, A couple meetings ago from Michigan Mainstreet program, and it has this four point strategy of which we've just discussed earlier, there's economic development and three other strategies, and it's just an online training series that you watch, and it kind of trains and educates you about what you need to do to have very effective board driven dynamic committees guiding the growth of downtown's and an organization needs to sponsor all of that work so the DDA is wanting to sponsor it but in order for us to get to that point, we have to watch and understand these trainings. And so the first training is about an hour but then there's a couple of other videos that are about 30 minutes each. And if you do a little bit each day, you can really get it done in a week but it's taken us a couple of months just because the business owners on the DDA are busy and a lot of people have their time scattered so I've linked to it in the agenda that I sent around. You do have to go to the website and register for an account. Once you register for an account they preview in about a day or less, you can log in and it's just super easy. Basically, it's a whole like just links that you click one after the other. It gives you a little quizzes after you watch videos just to make sure you've understood that and then it actually records your responses so that they can validate whether or not everybody on the DDA has done well before they advanced on to the next level of leading the DDA through the program. So that's just a little bit of context setting but thank you Mara that was very helpful. And sorry if I say something. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, so

I know that you mentioned Mara, in my team. Um, I'm just underscoring that the team is temporary, and that this is the team, and promote yeah okay so this is where the team. These people are additional resources that we have that are temporary, but we need to start focusing on, you know, us taking this initiative because I don't want to, I don't want to be lost and I know that I can't do it all this stuff. Yeah. Um, one thing that I did really learn from me DC training and lots of people were like, oh man like this training. I know when I take trainings I'm like alright, like this is kind of common sense you know I don't really need to listen to this or read this, actually I did find that me DC Mainstreet training, and like I learned, I'm learning from it and like I was taking screenshots and it explains things pretty well. So I think it's a good. You know, I actually think it's well worth the time. Yeah, but I really hear that they're underscoring volunteerism and this is community driven it's not going to be happening from the municipality, which they say it was me DC, it has to be volunteering community initiative. If we want to get it done. And yeah,

that's absolutely right, Mara, you know, and I'll just underscore it again, like, in order for us to be an effective subcommittee and more broadly in order for the DDA to be effective in its downtown development and strategic planning. This program really helps us to achieve that level of efficiency, but also like the reach and none of it is a top down approach it really requires the diversity of a community, a really engaged community to come on board and be a part of this planning it, it encourages the DDA to, to engage people on that level. And so I'm, I would encourage everybody. If we can before the next meeting, it would be really nice if I could say to everybody on the call on the 21st, the marketing and promotions committee has done the training, what are you guys up to because I'm going to basically guess that the other members of our DD will not have finished this and it's gone on too long in terms of the process I mean, we should really be able to get this done in two weeks and it's gone on for a couple months. And then we've got one person joining right now from an iPad, it could be Jones I'm gonna let her in. She's connecting right now.

Mr you have an iPhone, right. Yeah I do, because you know notes, the lovely yellow legal pad the out. Yeah, well I've what I found is really helpful is when you have a social media when you do something you create like a note for each social media post with your hashtags you can resave it, and then you can build upon your notes so you always have consistency and when you're there just it's a quick reference so you're not digging in through emails or Google Documents, things like that. It's just always on your phone where primarily you probably, hopefully you do most of the social media from your phone, because the navigation works a little bit better and then that way if you read hashtags and things like that too. It's just kind of advantageous to do it that way.

Okay. Actually, I'm not the one creating the posts, oh, well, but we have a template we want to follow and I appreciate I mean I, Tim, come on man, you know me I love the knowledge sharing so, you know, it's helpful for when I, if I need to create a post.

Well, um, you know, since we're talking about social media and leveraging that across the DDS account, Mara would it be okay if I quickly shared my screen share. Yeah, definitely. Okay. One second, I will share this. So, if this loaded on everyone's screen. Some of you may not have seen this I know most of the other GTA people have at one point but this is a guide that I wrote to just sort of effective social media practices and things for us to recognize as we post across our accounts, and it has really organized into it. Several days that we can use to promote very specific types of content information so that there's a consistency and a narrative that's underscoring how we're posting and making use of our accounts. And so we kind of described the first and third Wednesdays which are dedicated to small business posts, the second week of every month or on Tuesdays are more historical post focus so it can be about architecture buildings, a sense of community place, the fourth week of every month on Thursdays is more of a business roundup so taking stock of the different businesses in our community that are doing very specific things, or maybe there's overlap between them that we can promote and mentioned together, and then really anytime throughout the week. Outside of those three categories can be important news or updates related to community events or programming or planning on anything that we feel is relevant necessary for people to share. And so when constructing those posts, it's just like, Here's how long they should be, you know, here's how we can make better use of the narrative and we're writing them, you know, here are the best times to post them. And if we're going to interview a business and try to get very specific information. We should talk to them in person, try to build an establish rapport so they understand who the DDA is but not only that, when we post it, let them know because they may want to share it on their social media accounts and usually what I found is like, there's an engagement and then there's just your you ghost them after that and nobody tells them what's going on. And I don't think that's a very effective way to engage the community I think if we continue and keep those threads of communication alive, they're going to understand our full function better and they're going to kind of trust and respect us better. And so all of that is sort of continued in here, and then when you get to the bottom there's this template that I've set up for posting what I'm going to do, can you see this does look like an Excel spreadsheet. Yeah, so it's basically, um, I'd really developed this because I was going to assign responsibilities to different members of the DDA but that hasn't really worked out as well. So really this is just like you can kind of select the different dropdowns, and say like, I'm going to post this on this day. And so every month this kind of refills itself and people just select the days and times that they want to be responsible for so it's very easy, it's color coded there's not a lot of muscle and fast and we can just go back to this and check his master document whenever we need to. All of this is accessible so what I'm going to do is just put this into the chat. And it's very easy for us to kind of connect back to so there's the Excel sheet. And then here is a link in the Zoom chat to the social media posting guide. But Myra, to your point, I really think it's important that we organize as a committee around these things and take accountability and responsibility for doing individual posts, and so on, you know, after this call, I would ask people to go through this document read it. Add any insights that they have to it if they can, and then go to the Excel sheet and add your name for a few posts either this month or for the upcoming months so that we can start to think through how we can contribute some of our time to market the DDA activities and activities in the city. Are there any questions about that. Great. Okay. Um, let me go back to the agenda real quick. And then, yeah, so like just you know, once again, if this committee can get the Michigan on Main Street trainings finished by the next DDA which I'm meeting which is July 21 That would be great. I think that's a great goal for us to set. And I think if we do we're going to have a leg up in the other committee because I just have a real feeling that they will not have completed those actions. I think it's very easy. And I think that's something that we can do and actually show up and maybe that will help to encourage others who may not have finished to finish it so let's set that as a collective goal, um, it's, it's, it shouldn't be that hard for us I think.

I can see some kind of question Yeah, so I love this Canva image that you created Jessica, and then I see this plan for posts. Um, I did not ever see it. So, can you please send things, um, to see Ed, that's my team and then they'll take it from there. So, the DDA coordinators, use the CD at Hamtramck city.com email, and then just write down DDA coordinator and the subject, and they'll do that, but this is beautiful, great, great work. Yeah, no,

you did such a great job with that. Jessica, it was really I was like wow she's quick she's written everything there's a graphic there's like, so cool. Honestly, okay. I am.

I am an urban planner by education and now I somehow ended up working for the CDC, and they think that I'm, like, social media expert. So I've just been like, going with it and getting it together so I'm pretty good at turning things around quick, so that and the pro account on Canva. Well worth the money if your company is gonna pay for it. It makes life very easy. What is the email that you want me to send it to though.

I'm doing it right now I'll see. But just wanted to, you know, I, you know,

yeah, and I'll put it in the chat just for the sake of posterity, so let's see ed@hamtramck.gov I'll write it down and it's like we can continue. Okay. Got it. Um, well, you know, outside of just those things, social media, the Michigan. Main Street train series that I'm encouraging our accountability for managing the social media and then the micro grant work and cross promotion activities that we discussed. Are there any other topics or things that Mara or anyone else on this call wants to bring up that we should discuss because we're towards the end of the agenda. And I don't have a whole lot of other things to bring up.

I have a concern if you start to Kalani. I'm not really good at this, but I really like to help. So I'm just wondering, How can I be up to you guys. Are you guys able to guide me. You know, that's all.

Yeah, thanks for the question, Dr Golani we appreciate you being a part of the committee and joining and trying to support the efforts. Yeah, if you're not comfortable kind of using the tools and the tech to repost and share the information around. A great way to cross promote or to promote the microdata initiative, we can make sure that you're included on an email so you have all the relevant information is to share that with members in your immediate circle so there could be more what you would consider maybe more tech savvy, members of your staff who work for you or there could also be people within the community that you know other business owners that you went on to tell about the grant making initiative that we've been on that we've advanced into the next round for voting for. So if we provide you with the information you have the scripts and information to share, if you want to just forward it in an email to people, that's a really great way to do it or if you just want to really talk to people about it in your network, that's also a really great thing to do.

Okay, because, you know, I don't, I like to learn, and I like to help out, like, by my job being just you know I'm a dentist by profession. I'm not really, you know, on social media like that. So, okay, that's fine I can you do that no problem.

Yeah, and what I'll do, Doctor colonias I'll follow up with the script of information in case you. Maybe it got lost in your email and i'll send that to you today so you'll have a whole set of dates, times, important talking points and things that you can forward in an email to other people, which is super easy and pretty low stakes.

Okay, go problem. Matter of fact, I've done some of that main street, education, just about three classes so I'm trying.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that and just want to encourage you to continue with it. I know it takes a little bit of time out of your day but I find that I try to break it up into maybe a session or two every other day, and it goes by really quick so I think by the end of this week I'll have 100% of mine finished and I just started yesterday, some.

Yeah, putting a deadline because there is no deadline to do things I write my papers last night and so thank you for that. So, I'll have it by the 21st.

Thank you so much appreciate that, I thank you for speaking.

I agree with Dr Glenny I don't know if you can hear me. Yes, I came in late, I'm so sorry. Oh, I, I will watch it back. I think it's available right for me to watch back.

It is available if you haven't already done so what I had to do was I had to go to a certain link and register for an account so I can access the trainings and Joan if you don't have a link, I've put a copy of that link in our agenda. Perfect for the call today and it's very easy. You sign up for it and you might have to wait a day or less for you to get approved so that you can log in and watch the training sets, after that it should be very simple.

And I agree with everything that Dr Golani said I also would not be too savvy on what to do but I have added the promotion of the grant to my email, not too many people clicked on it but I did add it. So thank you very much and what a great job everybody's doing my goodness. Thank you.

Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you John for, um, it's okay to acknowledge your weaknesses as long as you let us know how we can help you, that there's a way to augment what you're good at doing. And we can support you in that way, so I'll make sure that both you and Dr Golani have a kind of fresh set of information to work from. And then I would just encourage the two of you to use your local contacts and for things around through email, which is a little bit more accessible and easy to do so I will make sure you have that today. So thank you. You're welcome. Thank you. Yeah, you're very welcome. Is there anything else anyone would like to bring up.

This is Milo, I was just gonna say, you know, I'm, I'm a millennial, so I should be more tech savvy than I am, and I will post all this stuff I found it. Just go but you can also just like text or email the link to your, like, people that you know close, you know on your close network and those people are probably more likely to vote anyways. Like, as we've been sitting here I've sent it to probably 10 people and five people have already said they're gonna vote so that that's an easy way to, that's some low hanging fruit.

I actually sent out to all of my family and friends I think I had like four different group chats of like 20 people in each, and I asked them all to just put a daily reminder on their phones and then go straight to the link and so hopefully they kept up their end of the bargain. Usually, they're pretty supportive of those kinds of things but yeah daily reminder if your friends are like kind enough to support your projects. In that way, it really effective.

Just remind people you can vote daily to that's the thing you have a system that you know so you can, you know, first thing in the morning just go and vote we have three to three more days that's, you know, that's it, we can get it out hit our goal.

And you can vote more than one day if you use a different server. Wow. My phone Safari google chrome every day.

Different browsers yeah just very quickly I figured that one out two and a half times a day.

That's awesome. John, thank you. Bye. Look at you see you're, you're more tech savvy than you give yourself credit for. All right, um, Milo, that is such a really good point that is like the most low hanging fruit and actually I find in a lot of my community engagement work and my other projects that work that I'm calling people and taxing them tends to be the most effective, because we're often dealing way

    more effective.

Yeah, absolutely. We're dealing with like somewhat sometimes people who don't have direct access to computers or regular use of the Internet or certain devices, but everybody has a phone, and everybody likes to do the word of mouth kind of, you know, face to face talk or just like sending emails or text messages, it's just so easy, so I appreciate that's a really great thought. And indeed,

I have a question. Sure. Okay, so do we. First one or two things do we officially vote in Tim and Jessica, Like, do you guys want to be part.

I think they should be if they're allowed to be. Yeah, obviously they're allowed to be but I don't want to just assume nothing in our like bylaws that says it has to be DD

culture I have outside people that are commissioners on our subcommittees, you know like you actually Walter and, you know, John,

so I make a motion to add Tim and Jessica to the DDA subcommittee organization and promotion.

I would say, Okay. Okay. All right so motion passed on, we have officially invited and added Jessica Donnelly and Timothy price to the organization and promotions committee I will make sure that I include you both on future communications and agendas going forward as well as any zoom links so that we can meet remotely. Thank you so much for all the work that you've done I think just as initial volunteers and the energy that you've shown it feels like a good fit to have you for, to the extent that you want to be involved as long as you want to be involved, and we would really appreciate the support.

This committee is giving us up done, like, alright, yeah sorry I just wanted to bring this up really quick, I'm really excited to join this committee officially and I just want to keep in mind like moving forward. I think that Mara and I both have a lot of projects going on in like the same area, I'm on Joseph combo like we're trying to do a quick build on Joseph combo, Mara and I both got awarded grants to do work in like the same area at a pretty short period of time, or in a pretty short period of time, and so it would be great if we could kind of utilize some of the manpower from this team to support those because I think that Mara and I share the feeling of being a tad bit overwhelmed with how much we've accumulated. It would be great to kind of spread those projects out a little bit.

Thank you Jessica for bringing that up, I would be happy to use the power and resources of the community to cultivate more volunteerism in the community to support the to be on these initiatives, personally speaking for myself like I care about urban planning and design, and community place keeping projects so if there are ways in which I can be involved to support the work please reach out to me directly or feel free to share in this call. Is there anything within your immediate purview that you want to make everyone aware of on this call that we can kind of rally our resources to support you on. Yeah,

so everything's kind of like in the works right now I need to nail Mara down for like a good lengthy meeting to talk about this quick build since we've gotten some final decisions within the resident based committee that we had for that kind of nailed down. And then from there it's really just organizing volunteers, making sure that we have approval from the city, the county and whatnot sensitives on just combo. And then yeah organizing those volunteers to source materials and create this quick build project, which I did. Angela her last name starts with an F for Tina. Yes, she actually sent somebody to a meeting that me and Tim were in the last week or the week before and he works for GM and they actually have an assets management team that will try and figure out ways to repurpose materials that they can't use anymore. Like there was a battery carrying case for the Chevy Bolt, that they couldn't do anything with after they were done with them and so they turn them into bat houses and interesting things like that and they actually have a program where they're trying to create more volunteer opportunities in the community of Hamtramck specifically for their employees to like give back to the community a bit and so there's some good resources coming out. And that I'm slowly finding so yeah.

Is it Yeah, please. Jessica, I think that we could Nandy we could create an agenda item, if anything. Yeah, or for the other committee to wherever that sees fit. But, I mean this committee for sure for promotion because it's us, so we can talk about that another time so I know I have to get going. Um, Othman also joined so hello OPMOD Hello. Alright, sorry I'm late. Just got back in town

was on a long vacation but it's it's okay, I appreciate you being here. I'm taking some notes from what we've accomplished and talked about on this meeting and I'll distribute them to everybody after the call, which I guess we're gonna do and you're welcome.

And then one more thing, Andy, so I brought up four things to focus on so review the communications plan review actually five things review the monthly calendar to implement the communications plan. Create a mission statement and encourage and recruit diversity within the committee and we already did that today. So we're moving forward with that. Um, these are the four things to address. For our next meeting, or homework, I don't know how you want to do it.

Yeah. Thank you, Mara, I think you're adding some of these things in text to the agenda as we go, I'm seeing them appear Okay, yeah. What I'll do is I'll take a look at all of these things will sort of translated into a nice recap of what we've discussed today, and we'll leave some of these items as action items for our next meeting. Just a quick note on that, I've scheduled the meetings to be, I think it's every other I think it's every month. Usually at 9am on, which is a very low stakes time for everybody because I haven't really gotten started with their days, and you're just going to have an automatic calendar reminder automatically show up on your calendar, and it will be a link to the agenda and a zoom link for you to access any remote communications so that's always going to be there if you have any problems with that let me know, shoot me an email and I can make sure that it's fixed or that you're added to the calendar reminder. All right. Well, I think, I think thus concludes the meeting. I appreciate everybody being here and thanks so much. This is great. I feel like we have some things to move on. There's some things that I'm going to keep in mind and I will make sure that they end up in the agenda recap.

Andy, thanks so much for organizing us and its agenda.

You're welcome. Yeah. Thank you, Andy. I'm telling you, thanks everyone. Hi everyone, thanks everybody for your support, right back.
