Earlier this year, Canada surpassed the

world jobs link, good year, the Honorable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario.

First of all, good afternoon everyone, and thank you, Laura for that introduction, and I'm thrilled to be back here the beautiful greater Napanee alongside my champion of all champs, the number one salesperson, Vic fidelity, I know he travels around the world and attracting companies and and also the local champion, Rick racing and Prime Minister, I want to thank you and minister ng on your entire, your entire team, as well as chief Maracle, Chief I know we're talking on the phone last week, and great to see you. Mayor Richardson, warden wise in the county of Lenox and Addington. Today's announcement is another great example of all levels of government, of everyone coming together to support local businesses and workers and to help create better jobs and bigger paychecks. I also want to thank Mark and everyone from Goodyear for hosting us today. I want to thank your associates. As I always tell Rick, our number one selling feature anywhere in the world are the people of Ontario. I'll put our folks against anyone anywhere in the world. We have the best of the best, and great seeing everyone and let's keep going. Goodyear has been a huge part of our province's auto industry. For over a century, we've been so proud to have you as a partner and a team member of Team Ontario, employing 1000s of hard working people, supporting so many families and becoming rooted in the communities you operate in. Today's announcement marks another big milestone in good years, ongoing success in Ontario. The company's more than $575 million investment, which is supported by a $20 million investment from the province, will modernize and expand this facility here in a penny to significantly scale our province's production of tires for electric and all trade vehicles once built and operational, this new expanded plan will employ more than 1000 people and be a huge boost to our province's growing Auto and EV industry. That's because here in Ontario, we're building an end to end EV supply chain, connecting our critical minerals in the north and clean steel manufacturers in Hamilton and Sioux Saint Marie to auto makers and parts and battery manufacturers across the province. And I'm so excited about the progress we're making over the past four years, Ontario has attracted more than $43 billion in electric vehicle and battery investments. We welcome new battery plants in Windsor, Alliston and St Thomas, major investments from parts and component producers in laws, township, Branford, port, Colborne, and now in Napanee. And we're so proud that Ontario is now the only place in North America that has the six largest automakers call home and friends. The world is taking notice. You know, we have become Ontario, an economic powerhouse in North America. If we were a standalone country, and I never recommend that Prime Minister, but if we're a standalone country, we'd be the USS third largest trading partner in the world. We we do $500 billion of two way trade with the US. We're the number one customer to 17 states. Number two to 13 states. So the world is watching, and again, the best asset we have are the people. Earlier this year, Canada surpassed China and Bloomberg global Battery Supply Chain rankings. This is the first time ever, China has been unseated from the top spot. Companies are investing in Ontario because of this growing supply chain, because of the people they're choosing Ontario, because of investments we're making in skills training, in energy infrastructure and to build roads and highways. We're investing over $190 billion nowhere North America can say that $190 billion in roads, in highways, in bridges, in hospitals, in schools and every other infrastructure and broadband as well. And we just going to keep moving forward on this, international companies are setting up shop here, and local companies are expanding because of our competitive business environment. I always say you cannot tax your way to prosperities. Never worked anywhere in the world. It doesn't work anywhere here. And we're going to make sure that we're still competitive grading the environment for the people of Ontario to thrive and prosper and grow because of the work our government has done to cut red tape by over a billion dollars a year, to reduce these costs of doing business by $8 billion each and every single year. And for not and for cutting not raising taxes on the people or businesses. We're the only government in the country that has never raised a tax since we've been in office. We will never raise a tax. We will see revenues grow by expanding companies like this and the $43 billion of EV expansion, 20 billion in tech, 3 billion in life sciences. And just think last year, think of this stat here. I love this stat. So last year, the manufacturing of this province, folks like yourself, created more manufacturing jobs here in Ontario than all 50 US states combined. Think of that. That's pretty staggering, and that's never been done before, but I'm going to be very frank, they're catching up to us, so we just got to keep going. It's 50 against one, but we'll still hold our own. And folks, As the world continues to face economic and geopolitical uncertainty, here in Ontario, we're going to keep working hard to create the environment for businesses like Goodyear to thrive, prosper and grow, and when companies thrive, prosper and grow, so do their associates thrive, prosper and grow. I have a very simple theory. You have two choices, either put money back into the people's pocket and they're going to be doing things they might otherwise not be able to do as simple as going out for dinner, buying something they might, might not be able to buy. The best place do is put it in your pocket. The worst place to do is give your money to the government. Then when it comes to companies, same thing, you put money back into the company's pockets. They're going to invest in their people, into their infrastructure, into their technology, and that's how we thrive. We're going to keep the momentum going here in Ontario, attracting more and creating better jobs and bigger paychecks in every part of our province. Once again, I want to thank you good year all your associates, Mark and Laura and your whole team for your investments and for your continued confidence in our province and our workers. Thank you to everyone for joining us today, and may God bless the people of Ontario. Thank you so much. You

applause. Thank you, Premier Ford, Goodyear is proud to have facilities all around the world. This global reach has been made possible with

the mayor and the Reeve. Thank you so much. Announcement today the federal government investing in Goodyear and in this expansion together with the province, so that Goodyear will create those incredible tires for what are going to be the cars of the future. We've been building them for over 100 years in Canada. We're going to be building them for 100 years more. They're going to look a little different. They're going to sound a little different. They're going to be EVs, and we're going to have great new Goodyear tires on those EVs. So let's cheer for Canada.

Let's cheer for the great work that the workers are doing. And thank you so much good year for your decision to expand, right here in napani.

The premier shared a stat that I think really is one worth repeating, and that is that Canada now, through the very deliberate intention of the federal government to invest in electric vehicles, in building and fighting climate change and building on that EV supply chain has now put us Canada at the very top of the most attractive place to invest for direct investment In the EV supply chain and ecosystem, all the way from mines to processing to the building of cars and, of course, to the tires that go on those cars. It has taken a tremendous amount of work to attract the investments into Canada so that we continue and that workers continue to benefit from what we have a great saying at the federal government, which is at the environment and the economy go hand in hand. And I think today's announcement really demonstrates that building cars, building the electric vehicles, creating all of those great jobs, from parts to components, to electrical to electrical, to the technology that goes into these EVs to the tires is very, very much the work that we spend. And I, certainly I spend my day, every day, waking up thinking about, how do we make our country more competitive? How do we support those great Canadian jobs that are here? And how do we support the jobs of tomorrow, which are green jobs? And maybe I'll just end with this one point. The prime minister talked about Canada being the only g7 country with free trade agreements with every other g7 country. And we have access to over, you know what, over 151 for 5 billion people in markets around the world. And when you think about those trade agreements, I think one of the most proud things, and that's what attracts investments like this one here today, is that architectured in the Canada's trade agreements are provisions that actually stand up for the environment to fight climate change. It's provisions in our trade agreement, like the ones that we just renegotiated with with the United States and Mexico, that have strong provisions in there that protect labors and protect our workers. It is what is making investors look at Canada, the reliability of our country, of our democracy, of the rules that they can rely on, the rules that investors rely on. And it is that, and it is all of our workers, and it is all of the work that we do from coast to coast to coast that does one thing, which is, let's grow Canadian jobs. Let's make our communities vibrant. Let's make sure that our trade and our economy is inclusive, so that as we build out the economies of today and tomorrow, that it is generations and generations of you and your families here at this plant, but certainly other plants across this great province and across Canada, from coast to coast to coast. So Merci beaucoup. Thank you so much for this announcement today, and I look forward to, I look forward to driving one of those EVs with your tires on them. Thanks so much Mark. Merci beaucoup. Mark,

thank you ministering stable and sustainable jobs that contribute to economic development are vital for us at Goodyear mark, shared earlier that we're adding 200 new jobs here in Napanee, taking our total number of jobs in our plant to more than 1000 next please join me in welcoming the honorable Vic fedeli, Ontario's Minister of economic development, job creation and Trade.

Thank you. Thank you, Laura. Prime Minister, Premier, Chief MPP Brazil, Mike and the incredible team at invest Ontario, colleagues and friends to mark and the incredible team at Goodyear, we extend thanks to you for continuing to choose Ontario you've heard this Goodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies, and as premier Ford has already mentioned, they've been manufacturing tires here in Ontario for well over a century. They built their first manufacturing plant outside of the United States in Bowmanville, Ontario in 1910 they rapidly expanded. They built a brand new factory in the great state of Etobicoke on a 23 acre site in 1917 and by 1927 they were manufacturing 50% of all automobile tires here in Canada. Now this snapany plant, as you've heard, opened in 1988 becoming one of the largest employers in the region over the past 36 years. So today's milestone demonstrates good year's important role as a link in our growing economy, our end to end supply chain. And when Goodyear made their decision to increase their capacity by 2 million tires. They look at them with the comments to build every today. So the source Archibald document,

competitian and the team at element better said you

by our largest corporate partner in one way or another. I think it's safe to say that it's extremely difficult to entice large world class corporate industries like Goodyear Canada to small communities such as greater Napanee, and maybe even more difficult to keep them, we've been extremely fortunate, fortunate to be able to do both. For that, we at the town of greater Napanee are forever grateful. This announcement today ensures our region economic stability for many decades to come. In closing, I would like to recognize my fellow members of council from the town of greater Napanee, our friends from Lennox and Addington County, and specifically Michael Knowles, General Manager of growth and development, and his staff, for their tireless support and dedication to ensure this project and many others in the future will succeed as Mayor of my own town, I can think of no greater honor than to welcome the men and women here today to celebrate such an important moment. I appreciate that you all see what I see in our town, which is a great place to live, to do business, and a place with limitless potential. Thank you. And at this time, I would like to introduce his worship, John wise reading stone Mills Township and the warden of Lennox and Addington County, our neighbors and partners in this venture. Thank you.

Thank you, Terry, today trash under the exciting day for the township of stone mills and Lennox and Addington County, we're delighted that Goodyear is expanding and modernizing this facility in our community for well over 30 years, Goodyear Napanee has greatly contributed to our regional economy and has been an excellent community partner. Thank you for your significant commitment to our municipality. I'd like to thank Prime Minister Trudeau and Premier Ford and their colleagues for their support of this project. Investments of this scale require partnerships across all levels of government. Today demonstrates that working together results in generational investments. I'd also like to thank the staff of stone Mills, township and the county of Lenox and Addington, who've worked effectively to ensure that our region is investment ready, and provided the support needed for Goodyear to make this investment decision. Goodyear is an employer of choice in Lennox and Addington. Multiple generations of our residents have worked here, and the combination of our skilled and committed workforce, along with the innovation and leadership of Goodyear has resulted in a high performing plant. Gonna go a little off script here, I had a half hour, but I've really pared it down. I'm a farmer. I'm also a volunteer weather observer for Environment Canada. Volunteers provide a lot of the database for Environment Canada's climate recording and information. Since I started doing that in the mid 80s, I've seen a lot of weather change. Last year we had a very mild winter. What the hell is this? I added up on March 21 the official end of winter, the number of days that were had highs above freezing between December 21 and march 31 61 days. Who's this? We're above freezing. Don't tell me. Climate changes in half. Get

    to the press conference.

I couldn't make a rink this year. That's a major thing for me. I'm a significant hockey player. It's happening. It's happening faster than scientists expected. Therefore, we have to do all we can as individuals, as municipalities, as upper levels of government, as industry, to be pulling in the same direction in terms of green initiatives. That's why I'm so pleased to hear that Goodyear is going to be specializing in tires for EVs. I'm driving one right now that Michelin is on it when I got it Mark, I'll replace them with with good use. So that's a key component of why I'm so proud to be here today. Our municipality and Lennox and adding the county, have established green purchasing and decision making policies throughout all our operations, having a major local industry pulling in the same direction in that regard is incredibly important. Thank you very much for the trust in our community. Goodyear, this investment will result in a substantial increase in employment and ensures that Goodyear Nathaniel will continue to be a world class production facility for years to come.

Thank you, Mayor and Reeve and thank you all for taking the time today to join us to share this exciting news. Prime Minister Trudeau, Premier Ford Minister ng Minister fedeli, Mayor Richardson and rave wise. We've all heard today about the significant role that Goodyear plays in driving innovation and supporting the local economy here in Napanee, Ontario and across Canada, we take this responsibility very seriously, and we are committed to continuing our contribution to the community and industry, and finally, to our Napanee team. You are the heart of this facility. Your hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence drives our success. We would now like to greet the Napanee team and thank them for their contributions. This concludes our formal program. Thank you all for Joining us today. Applause,

breath out with you, and my. Hi.

I'm Mr. Trudeau. One of the two men charged with plotting a terror attack in Toronto, came to Canada from abroad and became a Canadian citizen after allegedly appearing in an ISIS video dismembering a prisoner. Can you tell us when and how he came to Canada?

This is obviously a very serious situation that the Minister of Public Safety is ensuring they're a full follow up and understanding on exactly how this happened. I know. investigations are ongoing and the minister will share all that all that we learned in the appropriate moment but we're taking this extremely seriously. Because Canadians need to have confidence in our immigration system, and on the millions of people who have come here over over the past years to build a better life for themselves and their future. We need to make sure everything is done to keep Canadians safe is

the issue that you are not sure as to how this person came to Canada we're just not willing to share at this point what you know,

we are proceeding in a proper and thorough investigation on exactly how this happened. And we will share with Canadians at the appropriate moment.

    Thank you.

I think the most important thing to emphasize is Canadians should not be traveling to Lebanon. We've had that travel advisory up for many weeks now and any Canadians there in Lebanon should be coming home. We see that the risk of escalation is real. The challenges in the region are significant. We are making certain preparations to be able to support in the event that everything gets much much worse. But the situation is so difficult that we may not be able to get all Canadians out. That's why while the airports are still open while there is an opportunity we're encouraging and asking all Canadians to please leave Lebanon while while their commercial routes available. Next

question is minister since June's by election loss in Toronto, many in your caucus have called for change whether that's to party leadership or to your senior staff or perhaps the caucus. You've had some time to think about this for the last six weeks, presumably Can you tell me whether you're planning on implementing any changes that your caucus is looking forward?

One of the things that we've been focused on not just over the past few weeks, but over the past many years, is making making sure we're investing in Canadians. This announcement today is a great example of how from local MPs to ministers. We've all been working together to build a strong economy for the future at a time where Canadians are rightly concerned about this and the guts of the conversations I have with members of my team leave me more optimistic and more focused than ever on fighting for Canadians every step of the way. We're going to continue to make sure that we're putting Canadians first in everything we do. That's the conversations I've had and that's the commitment I've made to Canadians. Not Carfax not on betlem RC de la Bazzill in economy prefer after this opportunity to they can adjourn since Kovarik and fursona they keep donkey keep only to show Allah for accuracy to process your data and to live really been shows for the Canada music. Prime Minister you're hoping to bring in your new Canadian Human Rights Commissioner as a as a breath of fresh air and I now understand he is with to resign. He's just issued a statement talking about believing in the commission's work mandate importance to democracy. What happened here? Why did he resign? What does the report say about him? What was he in fact doing doing what he was accused of doing by various Jewish human rights advocacy groups?

The first of all, it's really important to get the right people in the right jobs and I know the Minister of Justice will be holding a press avail to talk more about this situation in the coming hours. Next question.

Hi, Prime Minister. I'm Michelle from the Kingston this news. You will recently put their store meals factory build on hold. We were wondering what will happen to the government funds that were set aside for that project. First

of all, we know how important it is to be investing in the future. Evie Evie supply chain is something that this government alongside the Government of Ontario had made real a real bet on the real investments as we know it's a new area of technology, new markets to develop. There are always going to be certain challenges, but we know that investing in Ontarians and Canadians and in the future is the right thing to do. In terms of specific companies making the right decisions, making decisions with the right for them. We'll continue to be there to work with them. But we're making sure that our investments go towards delivering good jobs and a good future for communities right across the country. And I can tell you that the money is still there for you mCore none of it has been spent yet at or invested in them and we're looking forward to continuing to work with them as I know the provinces as well.

As the Prime Minister, my question is also kind of related to all my core, you know about their announcement last month and also you know that the Ford assembly plant was planning to start building producing electric SUVs in 2026. Instead, now they have said that they will start producing gas powered trucks. We know that Canada, the federal government and also the provinces have announced have placed around 50 billions of dollars investment in the Evie supply chain. Recently some concerns have been raised maybe Canada jumped into the market sooner than they should have. What is your thoughts on that?

Canada has made the strategic decision to be in a leader in evey supply chains. We have the critical minerals. We have the innovation we have the manufacturing mostly we have the workers that are drawing in investments from around the world. This is a nascent technology a nascent industry there are going to be challenges along the way. But knowing that Canada is has positioned itself as number one in the world, in evey supply chains, according to Bloomberg is the place to invest, as shown that we are making the right bet on the future. We know that climate change is real. We know that electric vehicles are going to be essential for the future. And the choices that we've made as a government has ensured that Canada will be part of it. I know there's a lot of people who wouldn't have made that choice. The Conservative Party of Canada has said very clearly it would not have made this choice of investing in EVs investing in workers. The reality is, as a great Canadian once said you need to go where the puck is going the global economy is going towards netzero. Manufacturing is going towards electric vehicles and with great partnership from the Government of Ontario. Canada has positioned itself to be a leader in the Evie industry. And we will continue to be because those are where the jobs are going to be. Not just a couple of years from now, but a decade from now a generation from now and over the coming decades.

As a prime minister, my next question is about when we know that Canada has expressed concerns about the election results out there. But my question is that why Canada has not joined the United States to declare that President Maduro did not win the election and why Canada has not imposed any sanctions on on Maduro that Canada

has been one of the strongest countries in standing up over the past many years against the Maduro regime. We have, as you said huge questions about those election results. We are calling on the international community to come together demand proper accountability, it is essential that the will of the people be respected and we will continue to work not just as northern countries but with countries in the Global South, particularly across South America to demand accountability, transparency and to ensure that democracy returns to Venezuela for Venezuelans. To some extent will be defeated. Long's any judicial Madhu Jose popsocket. In some part of me the DE QUE at the Blue vocal conda no matter who betrayed the PDS any zap knows utility of Venezuela. Yatta Bella mon demo thriller concert halls in La Liga Don is addiction Venezuela, a newsletter Zando Ankara avec the Collect they collect the lyric desert, go to our democracy pull up Venezuela

    last question.

Jack Richardson from CTV News Ottawa. First question is for both the Premier and the Prime Minister. Ottawa Mayor the Ottawa mayor has says the city is facing a public transit financial crisis and they're asking for up to $140 million from both upper levels of government. So are you prepared to bail out the city in this situation? First

of all, it is really important as a federal government that we have good relations with municipal leaders cities right across the country and that's why I sat down with Marisa Cliff just in Ontario in April in that city hall, and we talked directly and frankly with some of the challenges that the city is facing. The federal government will always look to be a partner of municipalities as we move forward, particularly a municipality that's so geographically important to the federal government as Ottawa, we look forward to continuing to work with Mark

we have a great relationship with Mayor Sutcliffe and made a new deal with them. But, you know, we're in if the federal government said they're the largest employer in the region, so I'll leave it at that. We'll we'll talk to Mayor Sutcliffe and work with the federal government.

My follow up is just for the Prime Minister. Last week steel and aluminum CEOs and opposition leader Pierre Polly have called for the federal government to match the US tariffs on China. Why has Canada not moved on this yet?

Well, first of all, it's a bit of a joke. The poly of is suddenly talking about workers in the auto industry. He has said repeatedly that he wouldn't be making these investments in our auto industry. He wouldn't have invested he'd be cutting our investments in EVs in building an extraordinary EDI supply chain in Canada something that we've been doing as a government in partners in partnership with the government of Ontario and others, right and right across the country over the past four years in a deliberate strategy. Bring in Volkswagen, bring in some Lantis invest in Hana invest in the Eevee supply chain from mines, to manufacturing and recycling. We have been there every step of the way. The Federal conservatives continue to say they cut it off. They don't support it. They don't believe in investing in Canadian workers. So for him to suddenly turn around and say all we're worried about EVs. That's baloney. He's looking for a political angle, because that's all he does. But in regards to the CEOs and steel manufacturers and the partners in the industry, I can tell you for the past many months we alongside Minister marrying or Minister of Trade, I've been working with stakeholders, working with community groups, working with international partners on making sure that Canada's Evie advantage remains Canadians have invested in this future and we're going to make sure that we follow through on it to Polycom jumping in front of the parade or trying to it's just silly. We have stood up for Canadian workers in the auto sector. We will continue to stand up for Canadian workers in the auto sector. We will continue to make sure that we're using all necessary tools to drive greener cleaner economy, which means great manufacturing jobs here in Canada, more opportunities for Canadians. This is a conversation that we've been having for months and we will continue to have to make sure these investments we're making the poly of wood cut are well protected for the future.
