Export your text and audio in a variety of formats

The following steps will help you export your text and audio in a variety of formats to suit your different needs.


  • Export Text as TXT or PDF
  1. Select the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. Select the “Export Text” button from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the button for “Text file” or “PDF,” depending on your preferred file type.
  5. To change the file name, select the text to the right of the “Filename” section and type the new file name.

  7. Set your preferences for the following options: including speaker names, including timestamps, and merging same-speaker segments. If you are a premium user, you’ll also be able to remove Otter branding.

  9. After you have reviewed the text, select “Continue.”
  10. In the web app, the file will automatically download to your device. In the mobile app, you must select the application to which you would like to save the file.
  • Export Text as Captions (SRT)
  1. Select the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select the “Export Text” button from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select “SRT” for the file type.

  5. To choose to include or remove speaker names from the captions, toggle the “Include speaker names” switch.
  6. Select “Continue” to export the file.
  7. In the web app, the file will automatically download to your device as an SRT. In the mobile app, you must select the application to which you would like to save the file.

  • Export Audio as MP3
  1. Select the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select the “Export Audio” button from the drop-down menu.

  4. In the web app, the file will automatically download to your device as an MP3. In the mobile app, you must select the application to which you would like to save the file.
  • Print Your Text
  1. Select the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select the “Print” button from the menu.
  3. The text will export as a PDF file to print.
  4. Select the printer you wish to use, how many copies you would like to print, and your desired page range.

  6. To finish and print the conversation, just tap “Print.”
  • Export Conversation as TXT or PDF Without Otter Branding

Premium users may also export their conversations as TXT or PDF files without Otter branding.

  1. Select the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select the “Export Text” button from the drop-down menu.
  3. Depending on your preferred file type, select the button for “Text file” or “PDF.”
  4. To change the file name, select the text to the right of the “Filename” section and type the new file name.
  5. Set your preferences for the exported file.
  6. To remove branding, toggle the “Remove Otter branding in export” switch to the on position.

  8. Select “Continue” to finish and export the file.
