Good evening, Council President and members of the council. Councilman Gale, to answer your question. Right now we have 711 officers within the Oakland Police Department. Those are certified law enforcement officers, we have additional non sworn professional staff on our department. When you look at the numbers, we carry somewhere around 65 to 70 folks on some type of administrative medical or leave status. So that puts us right now and just about, you know, 658 that are actually boots on the ground out there working the current budget, which is the budget in which we all have to understand the financial situation that the city is in. It's a financial situation that is requiring all of us to do more with less. And when we look at that, and working with our budget office and working with the mayor's office, the plan is to freeze those positions until we get down to 678. Right now we're at 711. So through the through attrition, we will move through that process to get down to that number.
